On a not-pointless-post point, I would wind my own stator and build my own rotor for a project like this if you are building, as opposed to using an alternator. I believe you get more power for less physical turns of the generator that way. I am also a noob at this, so don't take my word. Not sure if you want to shell out 6-8 hundred for a turbine, but that's certainly a cost-effective way relative to building one completely from scratch. I can build a total custom 2KW wind powered generator for about ⊅60, materials cost, labor not included. Slightly more for a helical blade like they use in Holland. Do you need 12v, 24v, or 48v output?Their will be more money required, but not to build just a generator.
