Title: Newbie! Member trust and feedback?
Post by: madhattr77 on February 21, 2015, 05:08:15 PM
Where does a member leave comments and feedback for a transaction? Good or bad? I see many members with 0 trust. How do you know who's legit or not? I believe I have just had a dealing with a bad one, just want to let everyone else know so they don't get burned.

You will see account's trust mostly on marketplace

member with 0 trust means he's not getting deal on default trust
eventhough he's already receive a trust from other outside default trust

example
account with good trust : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=358020
account with bad trust : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=47767

I have question too, what does '0: -0 / +0(0)' next to trust link means?

Make sure to view the untrusted feedback as well. It also has a lot of hidden disputes.

Though even if people from non-trusted list give feedback , that can change

AFAIK the 3rd number will change but you need atleast 1 positive trust feedback! If I am wrong, can you give an example - a profile link or link to the source? Thanks!

How trust works was explained almost 2 years ago here, by theymos. ===>>> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.msg2221664#msg2221664 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.msg2221664#msg2221664).

If you think you was scammed by someone, you should open a thread in Scam Accusation board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0). Before posting it please read the how to to reporting scams (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.msg2774678#msg2774678).

Also, I suggest you to read the How to spot a scammer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137288.0) thread before doing any further transactions.

Take care!  ;)

Go to the member's profile. Scroll down and click on "Trust" where you can enter the amount of the transaction, the positive or negative outcome and any additional comments.

Scroll to the bottom and you can see a place for trust review. Since trust list is different for everyone as they can modify it, even if you are from default trust, you may not appear in the trusted feedback if people choose to exclude default trust. People can also modify it such that one not from the default trust list will appear in the trusted feedback for themselves only. Don't rely on the trust function too much, it can be inaccurate sometimes due to trust abuse.

You can quickly go to bottom by clicking 'Post new feedback'.

Go to the member's profile and click the Trust option. Leave him a negative or positive trust. Members who have 0 trust may have untrusted feedback. In that case, a person can add a member to his trusted users list and get that feedback counted as a trusted one. Hope that helps.

I can't help but notice as I was scrolling and reading that NOBODY in this thread
has a trust indicator under their name. Was that set by the OP???

No. Beginners & Help board cannot show trust score directly in posts. You need to click on usernames and look in their profiles, e.g. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=420930 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=420930).

Just read the trust score explanation from theymos made available in the previous page: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.msg2221664#msg2221664 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.msg2221664#msg2221664).

=snip=
- "Risked BTC" is how much money you could have lost if the person you're rating had turned out to be a scammer. Or, if they are a scammer, it's how much you lost. Use the BTC value at the time of reporting.
=snip=
- If you want to make a rating stronger, increase "Risked BTC". 50 extra risked BTC is equivalent to an additional rating.

Oh I see now, this helpful thanks guys :)
I'm just curious because I see someone with neg trust -18 with 3 people who give bad feedback, and I see +1 on someone profile who just 1 person to give him feedback.

Trust rating will change if the feedback was out by people in DefaultTrust list, else, no. Check mine, I have got some trust feedback but nothing changed except one whom was in DF list.

I added a trust system to the marketplace sections. When you're logged in, you'll now see something like this next to Marketplace posts:
Quote
Trust: 1: -0 / +12(3)

The first number is the user's trust score calculated based on how consistently they've received positive feedback. Probably no one will get a score above 0 until the system has been around for at least a month. The second number is the number of reported scams. The third number increases with the number of positive reports, as does the fourth number in parenthesis, though the fourth number is more resistant to abuse. This text changes color depending on the score. Users with a negative score (attainable through scamming) get a red warning attached to their posts.
