ManyProofs:

I wouldn't feel comfortable exporting U.S. legal tender to Iran. Keep an eye on my future offers as I might sell some of my MapleGrams (1 gram Canadian gold coin).  These are truly "gold bits"  ;D

EDIT:  Post #1 makes it clear that I don't accept payments to middlemen.  If people keep repetitively posting about this, of course I will remove it.  ::)

Because I'm an honest & reputable seller, I wouldn't list something I don't have in-hand.

I will certainly list the MapleGrams once I physically have them.  I think it will benefit those who want pure gold but don't want to buy an entire ounce. :)

Edit: I'm only removing posts that clearly show someone didn't read Post #1.  If you have an actual sales question, it shall remain in this thread. :)

Okay, here's a sales question:  You are "honest and reputable" according to whom?

Also, can you place your coin on a scale and let us see its mass (with handwritten forum handle and date included)?

Sure, I have no problem answering reasonable questions :)

Honest because I won't sell something not (yet) in hand.

I have a food scale from my restaraunt that is accurate to 1/10 grams (0.1g).  Would that suffice for the coin weight test?  If no, then I really don't have anything else at the moment.

Reasonable question 2 - why sell the coin at a loss when you could sell at any local bullion dealer, jeweler or pawn shop for significantly more money.

Reasonable question 3 - why are you so dead set against Escrow used for buyer protection?

2) I never said it was a long-term business strategy. Read Post #1 again.  It's just for my first sale. :)

3) If you can show me an actual escrow (not just a random person willing to hold money) then I will consider it.

Lots of Escrow advice here -

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0

there are also automated website escrows available too.

Yes, one of those automated sites was suggested to me (in my auction thread).  I went to the site and clicked "contact us."  It wouldn't even give a PO box, just an e-mail address.  ::)

Legitimate escrow = money in trust managed by a trustee who isn't anonymous.

Id like to apologize for all the scrutiny and suspicion on this forum. Every 'new guy' gets the same treatment.

On this forum we have a sort of informal system of escrow, where there are a few highly trusted members who regularly act as an escrow by holding money until a transaction is complete. Some do happen to be anonymous outside of this forum, and could technically disappear with the money (by malice or death). Often they ask for a 1% commission or a tip. I can see how this system would seem extremely sketchy for anyone new to this community. They are not 'official escrow businesses', just 'random people' who have earned a reputation of trust over many years by holding onto tens of thousands of $ of ppl's money, etc.

PM me if you have any questions; I can vouch for some reputable escrows and answer any questions you might have.

Good luck on the sale :)

Thanks for your polite & thoughtful reply.  Yes, I understand the informal structure of the escrow here.  But someone's 'forum reputation' doesn't offer me protection if the funds vanish (theft, or even if the escrower dies or something).  A more likely example is the buyer lying and saying I shipped them a rock.  Since the escrows here won't even type up a list of policies regarding common situations, who knows what will happen.  So this only adds to the risk, not lessens it.

I'm still open to a legitimate escrow service however. :)

Absolutely understandable. Its something we need to move past on this forum, its always a bit hard for new members to 'break in' now, as im sure you can guess there have been countless scammers here. once you become trusted here, doing business is very easy.

If you do go the 'random internet stranger holding your money' route, I would recommend selling only to someone who already has a positive reputation here. Less chance of you getting screwed.

Thank you for the clarification elianite. :)

By "vanished" I mean the fellow immediately went offline after posting his question.  As promised, I did NOT delete the question, because it is a fair one.  But he has been trolling me so I'm still wondering if it was a serious question.

Does anyone else need to see the coin on a scale?

no, not needed at all.
Though it wouldn't hurt. when doing your first sale, anything helps.

Technically it proves very little, because the scale is so sensitive that blowing on it would increase the coin weight.  :)

1 troy ounce gold = 31.1g.

If you accepted escrow from a trusted provider on here I think you'd sell this in no time ;).

ill remove my negative feedback when that coin is received by a buyer @ 4BTC and is tested as genuine.

The coin looks legit to me but there are some very good tungsten based copies available now.

Also just because you hold it does not mean you are going to ship at the advertised price (hence the initial escrow avoidance)

Hope to be proved wrong and I have no probs admitting I was wrong if the time comes

Nothing wrong with applying due diligence due to the hoard of scammers on this site.

No problem, and I was unaware of the imitations (counterfeits) until you posted that Alibaba link.  That's why I took another picture with some of my RCM bars too.  I suspect they aren't something you can get on Alibaba.

I agree.  And I also hope to be proven wrong on any subsequent transactions thereafter.  As a seller, I've always been firm about no escrow (with one exception).  But, of course, that's because "I know I'm honest" and blah blah blah.

Long term strategy:

So far I count 15 negative feedbacks left for this guy. What happens if the gold coin turns out to be real? Will he still be branded a scammer?

It's due to be removed. I don't get why anyone would sell this way but perhaps it turns him on.

Wise man say, troll with egg on face won't remove red trust.   ;D

Sad thing is, aside from refusing anonymous escrow (which is a forum guideline & NOT a rule) this has been such an easy & clean transaction.  Great communication from both sides (with expectations clearly set out), payment sent promptly, item shipped promptly. His BTC remaining unspent as promised...

Now we just wait for delivery & confirmation today (within 24 hours of the sale)!  Honestly, it's been like clockwork!

That's why the trolls are resorting to elaborate conspiracy theories.  What else can you do when a transaction goes this smoothly??  ;D

Hasn't been removed. Exactly as I predicted. What are the odds?  ;D  No, the self-moderation is because I ran out of troll spray. Works just as good though!

1oz gold bars coming up for sale soon, now that I'm proven a legitimate gold seller here.

I sold the coin at a local gold buyer today. No XRF test, but all the other standard stuff.

I thank GB for a successful transaction. I can now vouch for the coins legitimacy, and I would personally do business with GB again without worry.
GB did not scam me; I of course cannot directly vouch for his future offerings.

I would ask anyone to remove negative feedback left for GB; its not fair for him.

Thankyou GB

Yup this comment seals the deal for me. The guy likely will scam someone if not this trade...but soon thereafter.

Blazed is a reputable member of the community. Sending to him first would not be a risk to you as much as it would be a risk to him if he sent first.

Sending to him first would not be a risk to you as much as it would be a risk to him if he sent first.

An anonymous person vouching for another anonymous person... #seemslegit    ::)

Smoothie is hardly anonymous.  You know he created the Lealana litecoins, right?

Btw, why are you demanding escrow from the guy selling pics of his wife because he is a newbie?  Ironic, don't you think?

Ok, I feel like being generous to the trolls today. :)  You have an hour to PM me smoothie's and blazedout's contact info (name/address).  Not a problem if they aren't anonymous, right?  ;)   I'll leave your post up if you can do this.

Tick tock tick tock....

Smoothie posted his own info a while back (Maybe 1.5 years ago?). I am hardly anonymous, but would never just publicly post my information for all to see. Not sure how I have been dragged into all of this, but prefer to be left out of it!

Wow, a whole hour, and on a workday?  Gee, thanks!

You can find all the info you request in a brief search of this forum, but I'm not going to dox someone because a suspected scammer wants me to.  Your reputation is the issue here, not his, and especially when literally hundreds of people know his name and his face.  The mark of a scammer is the continual (though usually unconscious) effort to redirect the focus of discussion away from himself and onto others.

How bout you dox yourself if you're as reputable and trustworthy as you claimed?
