I think I read somewhere that it might have actually been Tradefortress who started the first one, or he was one of the first campaigns. Would be interesting to know for sure though and how much they were paying initially.

I don't know what the first one was, but the first huge scale one was probably Primedice.

The Inpts campaigns were by no means the first, it was one of the earliest ones (and the largest at that time).

Butterfly Labs had a signature campaign back in early 2012.

Is there any links to these? I'd be interested to compare them to the campaigns today.

Hello all. I've never been here before. What is a signature campaign?

Hey FXX, welcome! :-)
Signature campaign is a way to make a little extra bitcoin on a side by posting here.
It is far better and more rewarding that trying to play and click on different faucets which are more or less waste of time.

Basically you put someones signature at the end of your post (you set it in your profile) and that person/company who's signature is, will pay you usually weekly or monthly. There are few conditions, usually you need to post certain amount of posts per week, many times there will be like 20 quality posts a week (way too much for me). Also you need to be higher rank, better rank you have more they will pay. And usually you can't get into signature campaign as newbie or Junior. Although there were/are some exceptions. I don't have link to page with signatures handy, hopefully someone else will post it.

But you have time few months to increase your raking on this forum, called activity. Every 14 days your activity will increase by 14 if you post at least one post per week. So keep ask questions and your activity will slowly increase. Once you become member there will be several campaign available for you. I think for your next level (Junior?) you need to have activity 14 or 28, can't remember... By then you will also learn enough to be able to post 20 quality posts. Short 'thank you' and 'lol' posts don't qualify. My response to you would qualify as quality post.

See bellow at the bottom of my post there is signature (SathosiBet) I was being paid few weeks as beginner. They actually did accept beginners into their campaign. Nice! They don't do signature campaign any more. But I'm keep advertising them for free as 'thank you' for accepting me as beginner. And why I don't try to join some other signature campaign now? I don't post 20 times a week. Not even 10 times. I'm just not posting enough to get paid lol

I hope I managed to give you some useful information :-)

Ala

P.s.

Check this thread out, you will learn all about activity and much much more:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0

Edit:

I found one, you can join once you become Junior member which will take 2 or 4 weeks if I remember correctly.
Read first post for conditions of this signature campaign here:

For the link to the link to the sig campaigns, I'm guessing you mean this:

I'm not sure if this is correct. Can someone confirm this?

According to the equation below, activity is either your total number of posts - or - every fortnight you've posted in multiplied by 14 (whichever is lower). So posting one post per week would not increase your activity by 14 points in most cases.

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

Junior member rank is actually 30. Every rank above it requires double the activity of the previous rank (i.e., to be a member, you will need 60 activity and to be a full member, you will need 120 activity):

Not to worry. Most sig campaigns allow those who don't reach the minimum posting limit to have their previous week's posts roll over into the next week. So, for example, if you made 10 posts in week 1, you only need to make another 10 posts in week 2 to receive a payment.

I actually did a bit more reading about the rules of different signature campaigns since I wrote that and each one is slightly different but I'd say most allow for rolling over of posts. The old PrimeDice campaign definitely did if you didn't reach the minimum limit of 50 posts per month and once Stunna reopens his campaign, it should do so as well. ActionCrypto (currently closed) also rolled over previous weeks' posts if it was under the minimum limit of 20 posts but in order to receive any payment, you had to make 20 posts in that week. So if you made 10 posts in week 1, 15 posts in week 2, and 20 posts in week 3, you would get paid for 10 + 15 + 20 = 45 posts in week 3. 777coin and Bitin.io don't allow for any rolling over of posts except for posts that were made in the first week. Bitmixer.io (closed for new participants) doesn't need to roll over posts since they don't have a minimum limit.

I also remember there was another campaign that had a special program for those who posted very infrequently. I'll see if I can find it...

EDIT: OK, I can't seem to be able to find it but BIT-X (http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=877765) seems to have no minimum posting limits. But you will need to wait until you are full member to join.
