Title: Warning: The day Bitcoin gets classified under an existing and/or new AML law...

...you will not be getting your Bitcoins on Mt. Gox back. I guarantee it.

Do not store your Bitcoins on Mt. Gox or you're in for a bad time.

Google search reveals "AML" means Anti-Money-Laundering. So question for Mt.Gox_Alex, how is a user "AML"?

The IRS will be putting a gun to the heads of Mt. Gox.

The Bitcoin is about to be gaining a lot of value and the IRS is going to want a share and/or Bitcoin shutdown.

AML is a broad term but the concept is to make sure that people does not start using Mt.Gox for illegal purpose. This said, this matter has been discussed over and over on the forum and I would suggest you to check this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=86224.0

Now to the question, how can I avoid it? Well it will depends of what you are doing. If you are using Dwolla you HAVE to go over this process and become a "Verified" or "Trusted" user. If you start using our services with a VPN or Via TOR we will require you to be verified and so on...

AML / KYC / CIP

Requires them to verify information on customers once they hit certain triggers/behaviors

Then they make mini profiles on the customers and when the customer goes outside the profile model, it gets flagged for review.

see here for more info

@MtGox_Alex So describing a user as "AML" or "not AML" means they have or have not filed the appropriate KYC documentation?

At least he managed to already stay 1 more day than on his last account.
Anyone wants to guess his next name?

He'll get it out eventually, gox are just behaving responsibly.

Behaving responsibly is holding ~$950 of someone's money and not replying to emails in over 120 hours? If we had been in contact every 24 hours I definitely would not have made that thread.

When I finally did get emails back they all claimed that the name and addresses on my mom's driver's license and the cellphone bill I submitted do not match when they clearly do. They also did not clearly explained my options.

Only when I caught mtgox_Alex online and was able to get PMs going in an almost interactive manner was I able to finally get the problem resolved via a solution that was not known to me.

The residence verification list page contains a "complete list of acceptable documentation" which read to me as "we'll accept these and ONLY these documents" and no one explained to me all they needed was something with my name and address on it.
