Mining is hard but really nice. You learn a lot and will probably understand more bitcoin if you mine.
The only problem, you will get low ammount of BTC for a lot of effort.

If you only want some bitcoin to keep them or use them for service and gear than buy some.
I the easiest way to do so.

Have fun into the wonderful world of bitcoin!  ;D

I'd stay away from bitcoin mining if I were the OP. This suggestion is good when you're electricity cost is not expensive like some provinces in China (where they host farms of bitcoin miners). Well from the word farm, you would consider the fact that one miner alone would stand a very low chance of earning a good sum of bitcoin. Still, it's the OP's choice.

if you want bitcoin and you have the money simply register to any exchange and buy those bitcoin you want, don't waste money on gambling and mining, they are not a good way to acquire bitcoin, especially gambling...

you can contact someone here on bitcointallk, but seeing how you are a newbie, you need to go first

When you gain position here (by time+posts+contribution), your rank here will increase and you can join various signature campaign here (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953). Their payouts are much higher than faucets.
Also you can try gambling, but only with sites that gives you free, withdrawable bitcoins (like dadice, primedice). You may get a great amount of bitcoin for free.

They usually pay very very low per view, a few satoshi each view and the amount of sites available aren't a lot due to the fact that there are mostly bot views. I would recommend using any signature campaigns. You can learn while earning tiny sums of Bitcoins.

everyone wants bitcoin!
you have many options:
buy bitcoin as an investment and keep it safe.
offer a service, or exchange goods in return for bitcoin.
earn tiny amounts from faucets.
earn small amounts from signature campaigns.

before any of them learn about the security, then start to make a wallet for yourself.

@OP, it is not a good thing to ask directly for Bitcoins, you should offer something like goods or services as Bitcoins are more of money to you as fiat.

You can't expect people to contact you and shower you with Bitcoins. Like any form of currency, you have to work for them. Google some faucet sites and buy some with other forms of currency if you want to get started.

When you Mine Bitcoin, I believe you will probably end up on a loss
When you Gamble Bitcoin, the chances are that you will loose in the long run
When you Buy Bitcoin, you are in control of your coins. So that means, you have a higher chance of
making money rather than the previous 2 options because you can buy bitcoins when the price is low and sell them
again if the price went high

Just my opinion:

-Gambling: forget it.  Just don't do it.  OK, so you can gamble, but I strongly suggest you ONLY use dust from faucets (that you got for free).  Math always wins, and math says that the house always wins.  DONT gamble it is a fast way to lose your money.  I only gamble for entertainment, not as a way to generate income.

-Buying: yes!  There are some sites to check out.  Coinbase lets you use ach transfer, other you can use a wire to move fiat around.  Coinbase charges a 1% fee, other exchanges only charge their standard fee (usually ~.2%).  So if you are moving a small amount of cash then coinbase is cheaper, but if you are moving more than maybe 6k or so, you might be better off with a wire.  You need to do the math based on how much you want to move.  Also, keep in mind that whatever exchange you use, you can move your bitcoins away from there in minutes, so if you don't like their features you can move the coin somewhere else that has better features for you.  If you plan to not use the coins at all, I strongly suggest that you put them into storage, and DONT leave the coins in an online wallet.  Things are pretty secure online, but best not to take the chance.

One more thing, if you are moving A LOT of bitcoins, like you are rich or something, you might want to look into a mixing service.  Contrary to popular belief, bitcoins is not anonymous, and you can become a target if you have a crapton of money sitting in the same wallet.  With a mixer you can divide into different wallets and it will be anonymous, and no hackers will know that you are sitting on a fortune.

-mining: the main thing here is cost of electricity.  Where I live it is 20 cents kwh, so there is basically no way I can ever make money mining with the current technology, not even with undervolted modified stuff.  Plus my electricity is tiered.  But if you only pay 10 cents or less, you might be able to make money with mining.  Most people will tell you not to bother, and if you are not willing to put in a lot of effort, I would agree.  I think that mining for profit isn't very easy, so be prepared to work for it.

So welcome to the world of bitcoins, and good luck :)

Title: Re: I want bitcoins.
Post by: PenguinFire on July 05, 2015, 12:47:03 AM
Mining: little to no profit
Gambling: Too much risk
Buying: There ya go.

Seriously, the best way to go about it is to get the best job possible you can get and work all the hours you can (yay overtime) and invest.  I know, hard work sucks but the idea is to work hard while you are young and can so you won't have to work hard or at all in the later years.

if you have skills, you may get bitcoin on service section. ;D

Buying bitcoins is definitely the easiest way, but you might as well be getting some coins for doing things you might already be doing. If you're already shopping at places like Walmart, Newegg, TigerDirect, or any other online retailer, you could be earning cash back in bitcoin. You also earn for booking hotels, flights, car rentals, etc. The site is http://www.coinrebates.com.

Me too, I want it so bad. :(

Buying is the most viable option among the methods you've listed here. If you have a job and you can keep some money for your habits or anything, why not try to allocate them on buying bitcoins instead? In that way you'll get bitcoins and there is a chance that it will grow in value over time, though there are no assurances in this one. Selling goods and offering your service can also be a good way to acquire bitcoins. The only investment you will need when you offer your service are your skills and your time.

Welcome to the world of bitcoin, mate.

The Option you Posted in the Poll are not really Very much effective and recommended to everyone. Especially if you are new.

Miner: Now a days Too much difficult to mine BTC, If you are using Normal Miner.
Gambling: If you are not Lucky You will ALWAYS LOSE btc,
Buying: Trading is not recommended if you are new in that field, Because you dont know abc of btc

So only Option left is the Sig campaign and Facets.

I think long term buying looks nice for the most part.   I also like mining it all depends on your situation.  But mixing those two is my best.

Worst is gambling, over time you will lose it's a known fact.  Don't gamble.

i think they are following the reliable route. but also they do gambling as a side job thingy.

which means you earn your bitcoin from all the conventional ways and gamble a little part of it to be able to multiply some of it.

You can earn Bitcoins by doing captchas

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1098291.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1098291.0)

The more solved captchas the more bitcoins
So you have to learn to type captcha quickly, at least 1500 captcha / hour

Legit what? No. Cloud mining is no good for starters as it is considered as ponzi. If OP likes to take risks on his money and gamble away his treasures, he'd go with cloud mining. But the golden rule is "Invest what you can afford to lose."

i have tried some of the cloudmining services. they are either scam, ponzi schemes that sell GHS at low prices and promiss good returns or
they are legit but mining is not actually profitable, or at least the profit is so small that makes it a hard decision whether or not to invest.

yup, i would get to legit cloud mining site instead if i wanted to mine bitcoin. btw, i guess there is some application in which helps people to buy bitcoin instantly in convenience shop.

Legit what? No. Cloud mining is no good for starters as it is considered as ponzi. If OP likes to take risks on his money and gamble away his treasures, he'd go with cloud mining. But the golden rule is "Invest what you can afford to lose."

not to mention that any legitimate cloud mining investment will take an incredibly long time to roi; its just not worth it except as a fun thing to put some spare change into on the side.

i have tried some of the cloudmining services. they are either scam, ponzi schemes that sell GHS at low prices and promiss good returns or
they are legit but mining is not actually profitable, or at least the profit is so small that makes it a hard decision whether or not to invest.

Thank you for the good laugh I will try to explain why at end.  Not all cloudmining sites are bad.  Yes a lot of sites are ponzi, scam, promise crazy returns, etc.  But there are legit cloudmining sites.

I for one thing look at them and see do they have the hardware to provide the cloud mining.   There are only two I trust and both tell what manufacture they are using.

What got me to laugh you might take a second to look into your signature.   You realize Bit-X is a exchange and cloud mining?  right :)

should mention that bit-x's hashing is provided by bitfury, one of the larger hashers in the mining scene. the cloud mining site that do turn to be ponzis have some pretty obvious warning signs, including high returns/fast roi, no proof of mining/lack of a mining address.

You could buy some which is the obvious choice, earn some by taking part if various tasks which can be found in the newbie/beginner area, use some faucets which will take a while to earn anything worthwhile.
If you want to try mining you could rent some miners and mine some altcoins which can then be traded for Bitcoin in the exchanges.

Someone wearing a Bit-X sig but said all cloud mining is scam or a loss.   So it does not compute.  Hopefully that puts my quote above more in context.

many people in signature campaigns have no idea what theyre advertising, or even care. all that matters is the pay after all ::)
anyways, i was just backing up what you said about bit-x being legitimate my giving that piece of info, i just snipped out the previous quotes as to not clutter the post.

Well have you guys tried trading altcoins yet?

Well i`ve been making 70,000% returns, and i`m not joking, no HYIP, only altcoin trading.

Sometimes I buy them at 10 satoshi and sell them at 1500 satoshi, that is a 14,900% growth!

Some guys are earning 10-20 bitcoin / week here in my exchanges where I trade :D

yeah ok, but for everyone that win the lucky game, there are tons that are losing, you know that not eveyrone can do a 100% good trade

if you can sustain that earning in the long term, then you can say that it is profitable at least for you, many altcoin that looks dead with 10 satoshi value will never rise, because they are actually dead...

Fore every gain there is someone on the otherside selling to cheap or at a loss.  So consider that before jumping into trading.   If one gets high profit so quick someone else did something like sell to cheap, or not hold long enough.

And altcoins are scattered with crap coins that Amph mentioned.   It's just not all coins really serve a purpose, they took a client slapped a new name and new picture and made a coin.

I return of 70k percent is just not something I believe without proof.  And I mean a consistent trend even close to that, not just one lucky trade.  Can you show BTC address that shows this massive gain?  I would need to see to believe.

U buy bitcoin in localbitcoins.com site...
^^ This ^^

For a more step by step approach
  • Determine your two digit country code from wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1#Current_codes)
  • Insert your two-digit country-code in the https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/{countrycode:2}

Example: [US:US of A] https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/US
Example: [AR:Argentina] https://localbitcoins.com/buy-bitcoins-online/AR

but whenever i visit localbitcoins.com website it automatically detects my location (from my IP) and suggests the local bitcoin buy/sells to me.

so i guess it is not necessary unless you are using VPN or hiding your IP from them.

Giving OP the benefit of the doubt.  Figured they already tried that and met with some problem... so thought I would spell it out.

I voted for buying bitcoins because obviously that is the easiest method there is in acquiring bitcoin. You just buy from a local exchange/another user then after the transaction, you'll receive the coins. That's it, no hassles of some sort. I suggest you use localbitcoins.com to see whether there is a seller that is willing to sell his/her bitcoins. Just remember, perform the trade on a place where there are people around and there is a security ready to aid you in case shit happens.

Bitcoin is very cheap now, maybe the best to buy couple of them on exchange. If you don't have money, try doing tasks for bitcoin. Try signature campaigns, referals and faucets.

cheap in comparison to a week ago when it spiked to 300+ maybe, but more so than that, the price is relatively stable right now. its less likely that your bitcoin will lower in value in terms of fiat, and you could likely convert back to fiat with minimal losses, or maybe even profits if you were to purchase some at this time.

The profit from these sites are too low its like the faucets but still is counted and you will have bitcoins

buying is the easiest way to earn bitcoins you dont need to take care of anything besides buying it, gambling is really risky and mining also can be dangerous as difficulty can increase fast

Yeah buy Bitcoins is something that is easy to get it but what will you do next with that? Buy something with bitcoin? or just save them, i think you have to figure out how to manage it and make it growing.
Gambling is an alternative way to get the bitcoin but risk losing is very large it depends if you win or lose and this is can make you hooked
And about Mining i don't really know about that.
This is my opinion

I agree, in my opinion Bitcoin is cheap right now. Also, signature campaigns and faucets are very good ways of earning some Bitcoin without needing cash to buy Bitcoin. Referrals are good too, but I believe referrals are hard to get.

Yes to have bitcoin the fastest way is faucet, then it can be trading or selling something.
Then it comes if you are joined in any signature campaign which is pretty good.

i would disagree with the first statement; sure faucets give you that claim of a couple hundred satoshi for solving a captcha, but on most sites, you cannot actually cash that amount out to your personal wallet unless you reach a threshold, and even then the amount isnt that much; i could get more than double for 1 post from my sig campaign than I would claiming a faucet for a week. faucets might be interesting to newbies that just see free money (pennies), but honestly theyre just not worth the time and effort.

You can always sell stuff for immediate bitcoin transactions.

Well actually it depends on the item, but usually its something in demand like an iphone 5 or something like that. Also using a valid escrow too.

you can buy when the price falling down then you sell it when you think the profit was enough

but if you feel you lucky enough you can try gambling, you can multiply your btc easily also you can lose it easily

Yea but buying is not really easy for anyone, with all the KYC verification process + the huge fees, its just easier to earn it with labour.

KYC verification takes once on a exchange to do.  It's very very easy.  I opened a checking account just for BTC.

After your set up normally in day's.  Its so easy to buy/sell BTC.  Its great besides those who want to remain secret.  They will continue to use localbitcoin.  But honest get verified its very much worth it on a good exchange.
