GEC (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=776426.0) is distributed by its users to themselves and others, so you could save your "Bitcoin" (OBAViJEST) yet still acquire GEC.

Fiat currency is less than worthless, for every unit of a fiat currency corresponds to a debt with a magnitude that exceeds the magnitude of the unit itself. Therefore, any money with a positive fiat valuation is less than worthless. Accordingly, the basic means to the acquisition of GEC is that presented below.

(Note: the user-driven distribution helps thwart plutocracy (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/plutocracy#mwEntryData). [See the posts cited below.])

So we don't want an anti-money (whom can free-for-all coinbase nilly-willy debase faster race into the abyss) shitcoin that is designed to perniciously, self-destruct into a mutual chaos.

Quote from: Plato, _Euthyphro_, 380 BCE
Soc. We shall know better, my good friend, in a little while. The point which I should first wish to understand is whether the [capital] or [money] is beloved by the [1‱] because it is [money], or [money] because it is beloved of the [1‱].
(Germaneness mine.)

Qora, great tech (automated transactions, decentralized blogging and social network, etc). it is totally undervalued.
But i suggest to do your own research. if you ask ten people you will certainly get 10 different answers.

NEM.  The minimum needed to harvest is 10,000 and uses very little resources on your computer.  $10 right now buys 100,000.  I've known people who harvested between 25,000 to 100,000 since launch just running the wallet in the background.

Quote

Features
- NEM is built 100% from scratch (not a fork of any existing project)
- NEM is built with test-driven development
- NEM uses innovative Proof-of-Importance algorithm: first reputation based blockchain algorythm
- NEM improves different features of POW and POS coins, being more efficient and environmentally friendly
- NEM one minute average block times
- NEM is the first crypto with delegated harvesting
- NEM is the first with localized spam protection
- NEM is the first with Eigentrust++ peer reputation management
- NEM is the first editable m-of-n multisig with blockchain based alerts
- NEM offers encrypted, unencrypted and hex messaging
- NEM is easy to install with a one click installer
- NEM zero inflation (fixed supply, all 9 billion coins released at launch).
- NEM relatively large egalitarian distribution
- NEM will offer a mobile wallet for both iOS and Android (coming soon)

For 10 dollars worth I recommend something cheap with lots of potential and forward thinking. I recommend original from-scratch code coins like XEM, NXT, VNL, etc.

$10 is very few. Better keep its in BTC,  Otherwise you must spend like $1 to send its to an exchange, Fees of trading of the new coin, Etc.....
Finally you will get $9. If you are able of hold this for a long time only buy Doges to watch what happens but you don´t could wait nothing anyway.
Or buy a few BTCD. In addition invest its on a coin with a light wallet, You  dont want download an entire blockchain for a week to keep few coins, Or yes? ;D

I've harvested in the past, with little to no gains - but honestly, I would do it again...I just don't have a PC running 24/7.  I used a VPS when NEM first launched, which was an awesome learning experience; sadly I don't have the funds to run a VPS through google or AWS.  Any suggestions?

....And wasn't it called XEM? Mind filling me in on the changes?

Thanks in advance :)

Low price, high volume...looking good so far!  I'll do some research, compare it against a few others, then come to a conclusion shortly  ;D I did trade QORA in the past; recently I bought into a few BURST.  Is cross-chain a thing? Can you explain like im five?!  TIA  :o

True, I've experienced such setbacks before trading small amounts.

Let me rephrase my question then:

What coin should I invest $9 in?  ;D

I'd say go with tacos. 10$ worth of tacos.

Or xmr. Then again, I really don't follow the other coins, so I'm obviously biased.

I was going to say Monero or Boolberry. But now I am having seconds thoughts

Tacos is my final answer.

Invest in satisfying your hunger now. Use that energy to fill out some more job applications. With a new and better job you will have more money to buy more BTC, XMR, BBR and tacos!

If you're looking to invest into Altcoin, Hyper might be your best choice. I bought some Hyper a few months back and today they worth 2x the amount I bought. Better grab some Hyper today before you're late for the game. :).

just invest it in a newbon cryptocoin in its initial phase.
As many users have claimed that they have made more profits with this strategy.
BTW in my opinion you should buy an account on the forum and can double these in a week or two. And currently i'm also doing the same.

I would suggest peercoin, it has active development going on and innovative projects such as peershares. Peershares is a peercoin technology which has been used to build nubits and the upcoming bricks and chains decentralised exchange. There is also plans for a counterparty implementation to peercoin allowing for peercoin 2.0 coins to run on top of the peercoin blockchain.

Apart from that peercoin is built for the long term the 1% annual POS interest will allow for very little inflation and as such peercoin works better as a store of value rather than a everyday transaction currency. In 20 years time i can say with little doubt that peercoin will be around in some form or another.

In terms of price peercoin was once 3rd in market cap behind bitcoin and litecoin, within a space of 5 days the price went from $0.42 to $8. This kind of pump has happened before and it is possible for it to happen again. In fact just a couple of weeks ago when litecoin was pumping peercoin jumped from #11 to #4 on coinmarketcap. The coin has potential.

Paycon, not Paycoin. Paycon has a very low marketcap; so, it's a good entry to make 10x roi. Its dev is active, community is growing. It's harder to buy some cheap Paycon right now.

Teach me more about GEC...im interested

Great Empire of Earth, an empire that (in part) spans (without limitation) an earth-centered celestial-sphere with a radius twofold that of its planet-moon system, has a state money, "GEC," that would, seemingly, effect a more material subjugation of international plutocracy (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/plutocracy#mwEntryData) by means of economic heterarchy (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1022968.msg11139588#msg11139588).

(G.E. law (https://rgeo5wj7gneidzh3.onion.to/law-code) extends both throughout and without the [dark] grey, earth-centered celestial-sphere below.)

$10 gets you 6,25 kilos of UNO (YTD high of $5 now at bottom $1.60)
built on the bitcoin hashing network, so it is here to stay (merge mining)
factor the super low inflation and it's like buying 3200 btc for $10

now it is also POW so you just cold store that $10 of Unobtanium
wait 36 months and thank me later
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=527500  (stop by or feel free to PM)

ps
POS 'staking' is a hassle if you're new to it and $10 ain't gonna get you enough 'weight' to be worth the time/work/effort of staking.

You should try to get some Mintcoin (MINT).

Mintcoin is extremely fast. For example, Confirmations are 20x faster than Bitcoin (30 seconds vs 10 minutes). In this day and age, money needs to be flowing for economic activity to progress, and to know that your money is good to go within seconds is a great feature. (Think of it like knowing that someone's check has cleared the bank within seconds, with MINT you know they are good for the money in seconds). If you were to pay for your food at a restaurant, with Mintcoin, you just scan a QR code for the menue item, and the waiter can see that the money is in and paid for right away, without excessive wait times. Makes business much easier. Speed is just one thing that sets Mintcoin apart.

Another thing that sets Mintcoin apart is it's fungibility. MINT has almost 22-billion coins as of this writing. A large coin supply is essential to be able to be easily tradeable and widely adopted on a global scale. This coin supply will gradually continue to grow at a fixed rate in the future. The fact of the matter is, coins get lost over time. Unlike say, precious metals like gold, Crypto-coins that are lost are gone out of the money supply forever. The problem is that eventually a coin such as bitcoin could become to rare and unaffordable, it will fail to be practically used in everyday trading, and microvaluations. If that happens, the value could actually drop out of the bottom, quickly be abandoned and result in a collapse. In the coming years, Mintcoin will offer a 5% annual percentage rate for savers (minters). Since many coins will not be saved for minting, and intead be used for transactions, not everyone will mint their coins, so the savers who are the minters will gain a slight edge in yield over spenders. The benefits of this is that by rewarding savers, it promotes conservative spending behavior, rather than wastful spending tendencies. If everyone saves their coins, they will increase in value, resulting in a wealth effect for all users. 5% I'd consider to be the ideal rate, as any higher runs the risk of being inflationary, and any lower, will likely have the result of becoming unfungible as I discussed above. So MINT has the ideal and perfect balance in this respect. As we have already started to witness with Mintcoin's price this year, the wealth effect is already starting to take root, which I put forth will become even stronger in the years to come.

Another thing that sets Mintcoin apart that should not be overlooked is that our community organizer is a woman. As far as I know, no other crypto-coin has this. She is basically the first woman to step up to take such a prominent role in all of crypto-coin history. So far she is doing an excellent job. There are few women in this field, and if this gets attention, and other women rally around her, it could really be a boon for this market in general. MINT has cryptomommy ^ ^

The Mintcoin name also sets it apart, at it ideally describes in lay terms what is happening, without trying to explain to people proof of stake. You simply save your coins to mint coins. The name is unrivalled. MINT has awesome connotations. It is so "mint". It is like "mint" condition.

The Mintcoin logo is also perfect to represent Money. An "M". Identifiable as M oney sign. And tick marks represent it as money too. Also a great minty color scheme.

Another thing, is Mintcoin was released initially as proof of work over a year ago, for the initial distribution. This was before the scrypt ASICs were invented, and it was converted to 100% proof of stake a few weeks later right before they came on the market. This helped to ensure a fairer distribution of initial coins because nowadays, there are basically corporate mining monopolies to hog all initial distributions of new coins, and it is less fair and balanced nowadays. Mintcoin made the switch at the right time.

Furthermore, Mintcoin is energy efficient. No mining gear is required to maintain the network and no mining gear is required to mint new coins. The way I look at it, invest what you would put into mining gear, directly into buying Mintcoin itself, and save it into an address that you name "would-be mining gear". Then watch when after about 20 says or so, that " would-be mining gear" starts minting new coins! It is the a great feeling. Buying the coins, also helps raise the price over time too, so each newly minted coin becomes even more valuable. And then if you want to re-invest the newly minted coins, it is simple, just keep saving, and the new coins you just minted will start minting new coins too! So basically MINT is a wealth producer, as by its design it does not need outside mining equipment and extra electricity, and the coins themselves are like little miners for you, that will keep working efficiently for you. Unlike mining gear that loses value and ability to mine over time, mintcoins will hold their value and maintain their ability to mint new coins if you keep saving them.

Mintcoin is a true asset. By the definition that the coins themselves are cash flow producing, in the form of new coins. That right there is the main concept, for wealth effect. For example, Gold doesn't produce anything, but mintcoins do. You don't have to do anything either, allows for a potential retirement opportunity, without a lot of work. Just simple run the wallet, and save your coins, and watch them grow.

The combination of all of this makes Mintcoin the coin of choice.

I think mintcoin is dead like pnd  :D

You should invest it in a casino that has is making slot of profit, or buy clams with it and stake it in your wallet or at just-dice.com although 10$ is less investment.

You can buy Bytecent.
His price increase each time the BTC price increase and when the BTC go down he go down.
Today his value is around  0.00022778 for a BTC price of 218, when BTC was around 270 his value was 0.00031

Moreover the project is very cool ! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=999498.0

Nothing, $10 is pretty much nothing in the investment world. $100 is the realistic minimum to get any money back.

Well, it's a little late at this point...and considering BTC's decline I'd wager it a smart move to convert that into an altcoin :P

you can always invest in an unknown altcoin which is probably going to go up from 100 satoshi to 2000 satoshi but it is hard to find them and find them early.

from famous coins that have a larger market cap, i think litecoin is going to have at least a nice couple of weeks ahead since block reward halving is near and also the price is very low right now.

It's very easy to find new launched altcoins by looking at the altcoin calender.
But I think that ninja launch coins acquire more value because when people come to know about them then they start buying and so their prices increase automatically.

provides every altcoin out there a chance to promote their own cryptocurrency how they seem fit.

You do not "invest" in crypto, you Gamble. It is very risky territory. If you like Vegas, go ahead. Otherwise, just hold on to your Bitcoin as it is the safest crypto there is. If you don't like bitcoin for some reason, just cash out by buying a nice restaurant meal with it. (or delivery pizza with http://pizzaforcoins.com/ , not affiliated with them in any way, other similar services such as menufy also accept BTC).

BTW, is it 10 BTC or $10 USD worth of BTC. I'm assuming $10 USD of BTC, that's why I said "restaurant meal". If it is 10 BTC, then buy yourself a fast computer and mine crypto with it. That way, you hedge your bets. If the crypto you mined went bust, you still have a computer. Better yet, buy the computer from some place that will refund the computer if you're not satisfied with it. That way, your bet is hedged and insured.

I know it's a small amount, but I'd like a new altcoin to hold. Suggest what coin I should buy, and convince me why  ;D

(serious answers only, please)

Thanks in advance!

You can invest in altcoin which has a low price and then sell it at a high price. does not always ascending, but you can try it: D

That's what I meant by 'investing'....as in 'what/which altcoin(s) to invest in'  ;)

You're already invested in bitcoin.  Let it ride or add more.  You don't have enough to invest in any altcoin and you'll lose some of your capital in fee's just transferring and making trades..

Edit:

If you're dead set on investing in an altcoin then this is what you do with you're $10 in bitcoin.  Take half and buy enough of some cheap coin that has masternodes.  There are several that you could buy enough to fund one if not more masternodes.  Use the rest of the btc to get a $5 vps on vulture to host the masternode.  Vultr accepts bitcoin.  Setup masternode and collect payments.  Hope that the value of the coin will go up.  You will most likely not increase your bitcoin and in fact your bitcoin wealth will decrease.  But you will be able to sit back and watch your altcoin balance grow.  And who knows?  Maybe you'll pick the one that a pump group will pick up and you'll be able to cash out at $50 in bitcoin.

There are many ways to increase your bitcoin wealth even in times of downturns.  The problem you have is that you don't have enough capital and you don't know what to do.

Right.  I think there is a bunch of them, with real strong potential, out there and with capitalization under $50K.

You can't go around telling people about them because there's a lot of BTC whales here who can literally drop 10-50 BTC on everything.  Where do they get the money from?  No clue.  I think there's a variety of rich people here from tech executives, BTC whales, trust fund babies and older people gambling their retirements.

Even if you find a coin that makes %100 in pump your money will be 20$, that's nothing significant.
When you invest small money your gain will be small. You can't expect big money from small investment, unless your coin tenfolds multiple times.
I suggest you to spend that 10$ for whatever you like in real life.

nobody has ever been happy by joining pump and dump groups. these groups are not created to help you and me. they are here to make money by dumping on their participants.

also second part of your comment is not a good idea either. if you are investing in altcoin market and hoping to "get lucky" then your are wasting your time and money. you can get more lucky in gambling dice.

Title: Re: I have $10 in Bitcoin. What coin should I invest in?

You know, you can invest your $10 USD in an alt coin and "get lucky", let's say make 1000% profit, but that's only just $100 USD. However, when learn to code, you'll be able to make that much in just 1 to 2 hours of work if it is a job. However, I suggest that you do NOT get a job. Bitcoin jobs are hard to come by because only less than 0.1 percent of the world's population has a bitcoin wallet. It is more profitable if you were to make an app or program that made money and market it instead.

The thing that attracted me to Bitcoin is the fact that there is a universe of financial services that are currently served by an army of expensive lawyers and financial services companies, but in the future, I think ALL of this will be replaced by simple, cheap computer programs instead because Bitcoin is digital, so this is possible. However, 99.9% of these computer programs have not been written yet. This is cryptocurrency's potential. Notice I did not say that this is Bitcoin's potential. Bitcoin may succeed and it may fail. I am not a psychic. BUT, due to the low cost of sending money using cryptocurrency, I do know that cryptocurrency is here to stay. The only 100% sure way to profit from the rise of crypto without knowing which one will succeed and become globally and universally adopted, is to profit from writing some of these financial services apps.

Even bitcoin (and altcoins) itself is a model for replacing a current financial service, the IPO. Instead of spending millions on lawyers and SEC filings to make a new corporation's IPO on Wall Street, Satoshi Nakamoto, just simply sold shares in his new corporation (or business entity) to "miners" who gave him the resources he needs to run the corporation (computing power). These "miners" then sold their shares to the general population for the bitcoin to circulate. Satoshi kept roughly 5% of the total bitcoins for himself, or 1 million bitcoins. That's his equity in the bitcoin corporation.

You don't even have to be a very good coder. Remember it is open source software. You can just copy the bitcoin software, tweak it and come up with an alt coin, but don't make another shitcoin. Instead make the altcoin a way to release an IPO of a new and unique business model.

Millions of financial services apps are still yet to be written. Just off the top of my head, wills, take lawyers to write. However, you could write a computer program that checks if you're dead yet. If you are (it checks the government death registry every day), the program will email your heirs an email telling them how to get their bitcoins that they've just inherited. It is an automated blockchain program that is decentralized. People pay bitcoin for the altcoins that are used to purchase services in this program.

Or an automated escrow program. It checks the postal service servers to make sure a package has been delivered before releasing funds to the seller. No human trust agent is involved. It is an automated blockchain program that is decentralized.

The 21st century  will belong to these coders.

etc, etc,

Hint, go to the library and read coding books for free. Then, buy the book that you entrust to be your reference book or buy the book that the library does not have. That way, you can have maximum learning for minimum money spent. In other words, don't let one book that you buy be your only education in coding.

write programs for bitcoins. Invest in yourself, specifically in your knowledge base.

Thanks for this - I've been meaning to learn (I know java, but my knowledge is rudimentary at best) so I can create bitcoin-related apps/programs!
