Title: Come Test My Game Out!
Post by: EthanB on November 03, 2015, 03:34:29 PM
TEST IT OUT , JUST UPLOADED FINAL VERSION! http://itsrammen.xyz/fso2/ (http://itsrammen.xyz/fso2/)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Click The Link To See The Main Site, Head To Download Section To Get Main Client ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

We are working on implementing a better  tutorial/guide for this game and we are compiling a wiki of information as well.

For now  I'll leave some simple instructions/keys here

ALT - Attack
Shift - Pick-up/Interact
Arrow-Keys for movement

'MESSAGE (Broadcast to entire server  by  putting a  ' before your message)
/g MESSAGE (Type "/g " before your message to speak with  your guild)
/msg NAME MESSAGE (Type /msg Bry Hi if you want to tell Bry "Hi")

NPC Interaction:
"Buy" - Just say Buy in chat to see what an NPC has for sale
"Sell" - Type Sell to see what the NPC is willing to purchase from you
"Quest" - Type Quest to see if the NPC needs a task done

Banker Interaction (NPC Name "Banker")
/balance (Checks the Balance of your bank account)
/deposit 100 (Deposits 100 gold into the bank)
/withdraw 100 (Withdraws 100 gold from the bank)

Anyone that is online is extremely willing to help, so broadcast and don't be shy to ask whatever you don't know or just to chat it up.

So basically I'm thinking about throwing up a game I helped create several years back..
It's a retro looking game, but I am wondering if anybody would be willing to give it a try?

I'm looking for Alpha/Beta Testers, Content Suggesters, Moderators, and regular players!

A simple screen-shot so this thread isn't without content: https://i.gyazo.com/91073fb9aa8099cf4fd83d3b7506c465.png

There are several skills to master, train and enjoy : https://i.gyazo.com/2befde77ef1dbdc8f907352f1c5dfca3.png

Each skill point, Stat point, HP/MP point and level count as a "point". At 2400 points you achieve immortality.
I'm thinking about offering Bitcoin incentives for the first few immortals..

Thoughts?

Hmm.. Looks like a fun game to play. This reminds me of a game that I used to play before way back when I was on High school, I just can't remember the name tho.
So, does your game will have bitcoin reward system or something? Also what is the main hoal of the game? Is it plain skill mastering game or something like a tournament or what?
I'd like to try this out for sure but could you give more details about it? Also is there a software that needs to be downloaded and this is online, right? ;D

There is PVP, Quests, and tons of systems to balance the economy regularly.

I was thinking about either doing a bitcoin reward system, handing out BTC whenever you master skills and what not...
Or I was planning on handing out a chunk to the first immortals. I can't decide.

It looks like a pretty decent game to me. Honestly, as long as it wasn't absolutely horrible and you included some kind of bitcoin reward (doesn't matter how micro it was), people would play it.

I was thinking about either doing a bitcoin reward system, handing out BTC whenever you master skills and what not...
Or I was planning on handing out a chunk to the first immortals. I can't decide.

Both would probably be good.

I just can't think of a reasonable way to implement bitcoin micro-earnings as incentives for the first group of players/testers.
Would I be able to apply Ad-Revenue to support on-going bitcoin earnings forever?

Becoming and immortal takes a LOT of hours of game play and I would hate to scare people away when the goal seems too far-fetched.

try beta tester instead. and not immortal
we may find bugs

I have a list of bugs I already need to fix, but I could definitely offer BTC-bounties for helping me find security exploits and bugs..
I know there's flaws in the client to server communication, but I think some simple security in the packets fixes that..

I will definitely pay for bug finds :)

Looks interesting, it's remind me when I try build a rpg game with rpg game maker.

Anyway it will be more interesting and attract more people if you put some bitcoin reward in the game. good luck, I'm watching on this ;D

it look good, i like the art style done in this way, but i'll never download a random else sorry, can you do it via browser, it should be possible

so you run it in your server and we play it in web directly, if something like this can come up with a bitcoin earned-in game would be fabulous

or maybe you can do it via early access on steam, i see this as a better idea

Thanks for the comment. I tried doing a web-version of this game and it was extremely choppy and laggy, but it might be possible to get it up on steam.

I see now it even sounds interesting. When are you planning to release this one?

I have a suggestion on the reward system like maybe you can earn ingame currency then we can exchange it for satoshi if we acquire enough already. I think that will work and also will help to control the reward system.

I will release it ASAP, but I've been doing my best to hack/manipulate the game and fix the holes.
Currently there are a couple ways to manipulate the server to massively farm gold and experience, and I'm not too sure how to fix them indefinitely.

This game was created in Director and it has a lot of limitations.

I can calculate manually if someone has used an exploit for experience or if they used it for mass-amounts of gold, but I'd like to get it handled within the system itself because that could get tedious.

I have had MAC versions tested and working, but I don't have a working updater for MAC OSX so for now each MAC update has to be manual.

Maybe make the game available on steam if possible ::)
It could be a great way to advertise bitcoin ;D
The first Bitcoin powered RPG game on steam will sure make a buzz ::)
and maybe make a scarcity system similar to witcher 3 where a certain type of enemy can be a rare one if too many player killed that monster :P
I will be happy to be tester for this game when you need it :)

It depends on your promotional skills and advertising efforts, How you advertise it and how much you can advertise it.  According to this , you can get many players for your new fun game.

It's has a good potential and as a content suggester, If you could change the whole name of skills somehow related to bitcoin as well then that could be a plus too since your trying to implement bitcoin rewards too and also if you could modify the game into adding some bitcoin signs and content inside the game as well... And lastly for the advertising, you could make a free version with ads and a Pro version without an ads plus with some other extra features like 25% faster in mastering levels

Thanks for all the replies, I am currently working on updates and upgrades as we speak.
I've decided I will put a server up once all the necessary changes are in place.

It will be a work in progress and I hope you can all bear with me while this all takes place!

Looks like a fun game (I love my retro style games  8) ), would've loved to test it out for you, unfortunately I'm running Elementary OS (Linux). Maybe at some point you'll consider adding support for Linux? Anyway as someone else mentioned, I think it would be a good idea to try and get your game on Steam, you'll be able to reach a LOT more people that way (although I'm not sure if you'll still be able to provide Bitcoin incentives). Good luck!

Unfortunately, you need to pay a one time $100 to get the game on steam greenlight and from there people would vote if they want to buy the game or not
This could be a problem if OP wanted to get the game inside steam because he will need money and need people to get interested on the game for them to vote

But no harm in trying ::)
My arms are wide open if you need any someone to test the game ;)

I would play the game for sure if it was browser based: I'm not so computerwise to understand if your exe is trustable or not so would prefer not to install anything on my PC.

I like very much the retro style of yoUr game by the way.

Primary looking for volunteers at this point though :P

I only play games on my iPhone my laptop is strictly for work and financial stuff. If you can get a version for the App Store you will be set to make money. Just be very careful how you integrate btc Apple has a bunch of rules surrounding in game btc rewards. It's not impossible but you have to have your ducks in a row.

But iOS is the way to go.

I've been thinking about somehow integrating it into a mobile app. The engine the game was created in however has a lot of limitation itself, so I might have to completely port everything to a new game-engine if that were to be the case..

I could potentially have a separate server though, and create one specifically for the iOS & Android environment.

Its all about the gameplay, I hope you are an amazing descriptive writer then I will answer your question yes.   It doesnt matter the medium used, if you have a tale to tell then people will always be interested of course.
Basic graphics but Im interested in how it was engineered and at what level coded but sure I'll beta test some if wanted

OP is working hard on implementing Bitcoin into this game which i hope will work perfectly ;D
Too bad the server between the PC and mobile port will be different :(
Would be great if we could play the game anywhere without making a new character :P

If you submit your games through steam greenlight, i'll vote & ask my friends to help you.

I just hope this game is full of content, so i won't get bored easily.

You have to pay 200$ to submit a game to greenlight tho. How are you planning to implement bitcoins to the game? Buy stuff with bitcoins in the game or an economy based on bitcoins inside the game?

he can make the game F2P with a paywall, the players can choose to pay with either bitcoin or steam wallet maybe ::)

Currently I'm using director as the game engine. It's not RPG Maker, but it does look slightly similar I guess haha.
I wasn't thinking about having players pay me, except for maybe a "registration" that would be like a $20 one-time fee for some exclusive stuff (not pay to win), just a few features and maybe a goodie. I was essentially thinking about giving out BTC bounties on reaching achievements in the game.. Like being the first to master a skill, becoming immortal, or being the strongest guild in the game that month.

Hosting events and having dynamic BTC bounties for various achievements throughout the world for players to earn was my plan of bitcoin implementation.

So how does the PvP actually work, is it real time pvp or turn based? You should give us more information about the game in your first post and maybe a video demo/trailer of the game to have a better idea.

A universal server for a small game is a big ask.  I think you should say ranked games on official server but users can play on their own hosted servers any time they like, most people play for fun at first and a small game doesnt want to discourage people picking it up and starting as soon as possible.  WIth so much competition out there you almost instant action if possible :)

Actually I have a couple different versions of this game created and I can't decide which is "best".

I personally prefer the Real-time PVP, with skills and tarnishing battle items.
There is also a Turn-Based combat version with no skills or tarnishing battle items.

I will probably be hosting the Real-Time version with skills, because it has my personal bias ;)

This much is becoming clearer and clearer, and I'll probably just release separate clients for separate servers, with options like you're explaining.
I'd hate to kill myself attempting to link the servers across platforms, vendors and OSes when it wouldn't bring much more hype to the game.

Hmm.. Looks like a fun game to play. This reminds me of a game that I used to play before way back when I was on High school, I just can't remember the name tho.
-SNIP-
I think the game you were playing was either Legends of Zelda (back when it was 2D graphics) or that really old game Ultima series (I remember playing that on the macintosh, remember those?).
It has that feel to it. Is it going to be a RPG game that's what it looks like from the early screen shots.

I'm hunting a solid modern game engine. Does anybody have suggestions?
I'm going to probably end up completely re-programming and re-creating this game from scratch, except the graphics, and get it going on a better game engine from this decade.

Director mx04 is just so old and exploitable, and shockwave servers are old as dirt as well.

Um.. the game is going to be in 2D right ?
The game engine for 2D games that i know is Stencyl
It's easy to use and programm :)
Might take a look at that, or try to use Unity ;)
Though, the others can maybe tell you more of the game engine available

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely take a look at those.

Yes, it's going to be 2D just for simplicity-sake. I'm no veteran game-developer, and this keeps things within a reasonable scope for me and my abilities.

"I was thinking about either doing a bitcoin reward system, handing out BTC whenever you master skills and what not..."

I`m talking about this for months, this is exactly what btc needs. More games to play where u can earn something by mastering some skills.
I like to play RPG games, there is one in this moment that u can play for some btc but its nothing special I can say. I dont like it at all.
When u are ready to show us your game I would glady try it.

The Game is finally uploaded and ready to be played, there is no BTC implementation yet, however with some testers and users we'll be able to get that implemented ASAP and our early players will certainly be rewarded!

Come and Beta Test the game, I'll hold BTC Giveaways regularly for the players of this game and soon enough implement it into the actual game as giveaways.

it looks similar to the multiplayer online role-playing game that I've played on my Nokia Symbian phone way back 7 years ago which is Fantasy World: Rhynn and Warspear Online, and this game that you have made seems to be a nice game and actually I really loved to play a retro game like this but it will be much better if you will make a quests which will reward satoshi to players as well as from the events .

If you still need tester's then I will to test it for the game looks good and going Bach to the retro style is good and will get you more players playing it as some of the best game are based on what your game looks like and adding a bitcoin reward system will get a lot of members from here using it

I don't think you should use incentives for immortals only but for every player. Make the ingame gold bitcoins and have the entire market run on bitcoins or even better your own currency. That way you won't even have to pay anything and the market will stabilize itself.

So, does your game will have bitcoin reward system or something? Also what is the main hoal of the game? Is it plain skill mastering game or something like a tournament or what?
I'd like to try this out for sure but could you give more details about it? Also is there a software that needs to be downloaded and this is online, right? ;D

The game you are thinking of is Runescape. The way the skills are done in this game reminds me of Runescape.

We are working on implementing a better  tutorial/guide for this game and we are compiling a wiki of information as well.

For now  I'll leave some simple instructions/keys  here and quote it OP.

Oh crap, I even forgot that I made a reply here :P
Congrats on your game dude, I thought you've had abandoned the project, guess I'm wrong :P

try to arrange a gathering event if possible, all of the players can play together that way :)

Do you need any help at the moment ?
I'll try to help you as much as I could :)

Anyway, downloaded and I'll try to play when I have the chance ;)

I like the concept of the game. I'll take some time and try to play this for sure. it would be more interesting if you some how make it bitcoin related.
like if someone can earn Bitcoin by playing the game. (let me know if it is already using that concept)
