Is there anyone who has booked the profit by selling the btc when the price was around $400 ? I have some coins but missed the opportunity and the prices are down again. I was hoping that the price will go beyond $500 but unfortunately it crashed. 

I think that's when everybody was hoping they could sell when it hit that mid-1000 mark. But it didn't happen, showed up as high as $499.07 I believe.
Some were saying it did reach $502 for a little while but it was just a blimp on the radar so it was not registered on local tickers for me.

I was sold my bitcoins 2 days ago before falling in $400. I have only 70% profit from my bitcoins.
It happened what im expecting. According to the trader from outside the price should be reach $500 after that the price will fall, i was thinking it so i decided to sold my bitcoin to real money to gain a profit no matter what happens.

That's good profit, congrats. I missed this opportunity to book the profit and right now I am really disappointed with my decision. Next time I will make sure to take correct decision before its too late.

Unfortunately no. I tried to wait a bit more for BTC to go even higher, and in the end I miss my opportunity of high betting.
Next time BTC will reach $400 I will be ready, Gotta remember that these bubbles are not stable...

i had collected some 0.2btc from signature campaign , from which i sold 0.1 btc at the rate of $465 balance i thought of selling after $600 but it got fell down immediately and now it is just moving in the range of 350 to 400 price. dont know what will be the next move whether it will go back to old price $250 or it is going to cross the radar of $500 and move to next higher target.

I was keeping coins for starting free picks thread with real bets to follow and some more bought ~<200, but I sold all my coins, hoping now to drop to ~<300 to buy again.

I have sold around 1 BTC at 482 USD and brought some bitgold when prices at the peek price. But didn't sell all my BTC. If the prices settle down at this current level for some more time then in the next move it will cross 500 mark for sure so I was not in a hurry to book profits so my 70% bitcoins still holding.

i have only 0.5BTC and i am not sell because I was not sure how many will be maintained on price and i need btc not dollars at this moment.

If I knew the short boom was going to happen starting last week I would bought over 2 btc and sold before wednesday before the bottom fell out. Yes I would of sold all of it and make a nice profit.

I am not speculating. I was doing this for almost 18 months and was losing my nerves and at the end I have lost quite a lot of money as well. I have loaded my cold storage and I am in it long term. Trust me, I sleep much better this way.

I didn't stash any Bitcoin away but I've found it much cheaper paying for my music tracks now, so the new Bitcoin price is actually helping me finish my game a bit faster than otherwise. If you ever make any Bitcoin this is why it's always a good idea to tuck away any extra change you have and keep it just in case you want to make some extra money. It's not really worth it unless you have 1 BTC or more though because you won't make that much from the rise.

Same here. Waiting for the higher price. This 380 is just killing it for me. I don't want to buy and I don't want to sell either. It is like sort of being in limbo after seeing it go as high as 500 then taking a drastic fall to 320 in last two weeks. Most people are just sitting on their coins and waiting it out.

70% profit is quite a lot of money, the absolute value depends on your capital. it is very difficult to sell at the top around $500 as we do not know it was the top then.

I sold at 420, but still got some btc so hoping it will reach 500 again.

I bought around 457 euro!! and then it went down, ruining my buy/sell average. At least I managed to do some buys/sells with profit too. But only with a 2€-10€ margin of benefit and small amounts (0.02 to 0.1 btc).

Hope it goes up again.

I managed to get all profit from my coins when it crashed to $400. It was night here when BTC reached $500 and was hoping that it will continue rising up but then when I woke up it's already crashing to $390. Luckily I had prepared for the crashing but it was unexpected to loose about $150 so fast. We got them fast so I guess it's only normal what happened.

I sold some when it hit $400 and used some bitcoins to pay my phone bill etc.
Pretty handy that I can pay my phone bill with Bitcoins :D

To make sure I don't miss the profit, I started a strategy which works nicely for me.

I have started massive buying in the 200€ area, up to 230. When the rising began, I started selling at 265€, but only very small amounts. With rising price, the amounts grew bigger, and I had my last sell at 440€.
This way, I always have a decent buy/sell average and I make sure I don't miss out on the profits.

Now, I'm almost all in Fiat and I'm waiting for BTC to go back to the 250€ range, which is when I will rebuy.

Things could be different now from a few months ago. There are quite a lot of reports about bitcoin and block chain. There are several meetings about blockchain and its application in finance industry.
Main stream financial institutions will enter bitcoin market and trade bitcoin when there are more regulated exchanges are open.
We are in a new era.

My feeling about new ventures is that they cost time. I hope BTC stays in this range, but just in case i sold 70% at first. My gut says the price will go back to usd 300 soon. But if you are right and financial institutions come in, we could easily go to 550/600 usd in a matter of weeks.

You're saying that you were hoping for the price to have peaked over $500 and then it crashed, but personally I was watching preev that day intently; I saw it tap $500 before it went back down if that's any consolation. :)

I did not book any profit from the price increase, but I am pretty happy with myself for purchasing 1-BTC when it was still $200 :)
I don't plan on dumping my coin even if it goes above $1000; I will continue spending on my favorite venders, and I will continue to hoard and stash for 15-more years.

correction price, it's normal to have a spike then dump again to a more sustainable value

This time the price does not go vertically. The price went to $500, now it is $350. So there is a price correction. Maybe it is also a consolidation. If the price stay here long enough, like that in the middle of 2015, then price will rise further by the end of the year. It could even rise into the middle of next year, when the block reward halves.

I sold when it was around $400+, sold enough to bring back my initial investment in BTC and any that I have left now is all profit, if and when I decide to sell it i.e. but I can continue to hodl it as long as I want because I have nothing to lose in it now. If the price drops to below $250, I'll buy again.

I was scared to buy on the way up because I dont own a credit card and coinbase would have made me way 6 days for the coins... that would have been a mistake. Is there any exchanges that allow a debit card for instant buys?

I kind of booked a profit when it was 410 I made a deposit to betonline gambling site of .50 btc and they put the 205 ish in my account and that stays as cash even though btc dropped - I have worked it up to 300. From their cashing out options though 500$ is what you need for a minimum transaction but with btc I dont sell them but on any big jumps I plan to buy something thus locking in a profit.

I was able to make good profit from buying at 250 and selling at 460 although I didn't plan on selling on that time (had to buy something and did sell) but no regret as I did earn great there...wish I had more BTCitcoins on my wallet, it would have been a dream come true week for me

i made a profit of $140 by selling 2 bitcoins. for some people it may not look like much, but for me it is a great achievement. i am happy with each profit, how much doesn't matter.

i think many people booked profit cause that,start from small trader until pro trader,and also a corporate who have an exchange or company..

Yes I also made some good profit during this bull run. I knew that prices will not survive at that high price when prices move up more than 150$ in a day. It is all some traders game so I sold some coins above 470, some around 440 and most of my coins I sold at 400. Now again started buying back in small quantities.

What ever you did is very good thing. I think last run up was not the real one, it was fake created by traders so who ever sold at 450 range then they might have made a good profits. I also sold partial quantity around 420 level but not much. Now it looks like prices may even slip less than 300 very soon.

Buying at 230 and sell at 430 is good business. Now it is good time to buy as the price is quite stable. But if we buy now, we have to be very patient. The price may stay here for some months before the halving of block reward takes effect. Halving is the next big boost of price.

I bought around 260 and was lucky enough to catch most of it around 380 USD. The moment just lasted not long enough for me.
However i am still happy with my profits.

I was too late, because of Hashnest issues. Not responding to my ticket etc. I hope the next pump will be a moment to convert my btc to fiat and earn a little bit of profit.

you sold all your trading coins or have you sold even the coins you have in your cold wallets? it's never a good idea to sell all your coins if you did so. people will always end up regretting that they sold their coins at once. you are in a good position now since the price went down quite hard again.

Bought at $198-$202 and sold at $454. Well now, that isn't a bad move considering that I doubled my investments with a nice sum to add on top of it. A nive way to build up my stash in that way.

When the price was going up I was able to bought some additional Bitcoins. Then few times sold when price increased and rebuy again. This way I managed to have good profit.
It seems that we are stuck again. I am watching trend and looking for incerase of price again.

of course so many people get profit when bitcoin price is unstble and keep rise up day by day,not only trader,but people use bitcoin is also book profit,they buy something chaper (less bitcoin) because price is going up.

I think now also if you have coins than can sell around 400$ per BTC. Just looks for some one to buy at market price + 10% than you will get almost 400+ per btc

yeah the price will increase before the halving, this is guaranteed, hell if no one notice, it's already initiate, the last pump was also due to that to be a fool to think otherwise

miners themselves, can pump the market easily, they have a good stash by now, with all this years of mining

Knowing BTC potential, simply playing on these small price differences to make 10$ per BTC is extremely risky for me.
So I save my BTC for the big rise. Then again, I m no trader, I m investor.

It is good idea but you also can sell some portion and can try to buy again at lower price to increase your profits.

 It's still hovering at the 392-394 range, I sold my bitcoins for CS:GO keys as it touched $401, so I'm happy. I really don't think there was that much of a "crash", just that the up trend stopped for a little. I have a feeling it's either going to shoot up, or shoot down. It's easy to say people could have better bought their coins a while back. No one knows what will happen before a rally pops up. I do also think the possibility of reaching $500 this year is quite large.

500 is very possible , and anyway we are ehading in that direction if not in december it will be in 2016, so buying now it's a great opportunity for a good profit

The price rise is quite slow recently. The whales control the price movement with good skill. But eventually they want the price to rise.

I really believe that we started a new bull-market. It was a big pain since the knock-out of Mt. Gox. But this year was the stabilization what stopped the bear-market. Since some weeks we are in new bull-market. You clearly see it because the volumes have increased as well and every small drawdown attracts additional buyers. I'm very confident that we will see the 600 Dollar next year.

Throughout the whole climb profit was being made. The run upward was extremely profitable, not only for overall holdings but also for the period of trading also. Hopefully the trend continues in the future.

Not me.  I'm still buying little by little and I'm probably going to spend them at some point as opposed to selling them.

I made some while the pump and dump was going on but eventually it resulted in a loss. The litecoins which i had were worth 2~ Bitcoins previously and are now down to 1.2 ish coins, but they are invested so i wouldn't divest them until the price increases.
People are lucky to make some bucks from the rise.

If the banks can provide service for bitcoin, the price of bitcoin will be very high. There is lots of rise to come.

I had a fraction of a bitcoin that I bought at $330. I kept it to sell at a better price. But it went up to $500. I thought to have keep the coin until price goes to anew level. My guess turned wrong, as price reverses back to $300+ suddenly. Then I waited for 2 more weeks and sold when it hit $450. It is profit for me. But I failed to utilize the swing that I clearly got. I would have made 2 or 3 trades and tripled my money.

If we booked the profits when the price was $400, we can buy 10% more bitcoin now. The price is quite volatile.

Price may change anytime but we always remain hopeful that price will rise soon so that we got profit by selling. But it would be more profitable if we hold our bitcoins till the upcoming halving....

One of my friend got profited when the bitcoin value rises to 424$ to the max. He exchanged for local currency when the price has been shattering over the range of 415$ which lasted only for a very short time. After that day till now it has not reached that value.

Yes even I did the same I did it on the day when Bitcoin reached $457 because I know if I hold on it will be like playing with fire hence I sold my BTC and it turned out to be a fruitful decision

It is not low to buy a bitcoin. You can go for a buy, as you won't get bitcoin for this value or lower as the price has started increasing.

I think even after the price rise to $400, it is still quite low. I think the bitcoin price will rise until the halving at least.

If you are long term minded, then yes, the current price can be seen as low. If you just look for quick bucks, then the current price isn't that low. It's different for each kind of trader.

The price is over $450 now. It is better not to sell it. The price will be more than $500 in the next few months.

It is very likely that the $ 500 will be crossed in a short period of time. Some people predict pump around April even up to $700 - $800. For me pump up to $600 in 2 - 3 months is very possible.

I bought in the middle of last year, so the price now is higher than what I paid.

If you don't exchange it is remains the same. You have to trade it in order to get profit from trading.

I dint actually profit when the price touched $500 by trading but it was that I received funds on that day from my signature campaign (which was a delayed payment) and on 4th November when the price touched $491, I sold it. Probably if I had to be paid 2 weeks earlier, I would have sold them at $300-$350 and so I did earn a profit.

Now when the price again touched $440, I earned about $10 as I had bought bitcoins when the price was $370.

I would not like to book any profit when the bitcoin price is below $2000. That means I will not sell in a few years.

I have been hearing this a lot. I am sure only a few people will have the courage to hold their todays coins till a price of $2000 or higher. The majority will directly sell if we hit $800-$900 today. Holding for a few years isn't that easy as it requires you to have a lot dedication and patience. Do you really have all that?

You can just put 2k bitcoin worth of fiat in exchanges to wait for the $300 price. But I think you will not able to get any bitcoin.

The $400 is too low for us to sell. We will wait until at least the halving time to consider our situation. Miners can sell if they have to pay the bills.

it is obvious that people are making profit from price changes. that is where the daily volume of bitcoin exchange comes from. at least you can say is that half of the trades were profitable.

People fail to notice that the execution time of the trade taken place despite whatever price increase will only be so much.

I rushed to sell my small stack of altcoins to try to short bitcoins. I was too late to do that. Once I was ready to trade with bitcoins, it went into a non-touchable range. I didn't have lot of coins, but I tried.

I do believe all that bought early enough got enough of a profit from selling at $400 as it is now. This thread was started back in November of last year when it just touched $400. It has been like this for most of last month spilling into this one now. So I imagine everybody who bought before November made some mad cash even if they bought at $290 from what I remember it was in most of October.

It is still relevant in today's price which is around $420. It seems the price has not risen much since later last year.

Dollars cannot be considered with bitcoins as dollars have a reputation for ages while bitcoins are just 6 -7 years old. That's true. Holding for 4 years seems silly if we consider the current price. 4 years back the price was quite cheap to buy and hold but now it's $540. Imagine if it would reach $100 or less, the user will lose $440 per bitcoin he holds.

It's not gold whose price keeps increasing or property as well. Bitcoins are dependent completely on the market and holding for a year is sensible. Not over a year.

Sure there are allot of people who booked profit with the touch of 400 dollar there where allot of people who bought their coins on the price of 300 dollar so they booked a winst with 100 dollar and that is a great beginning.

From the recent price performance of the bitcoin, it seems we should book the profit when the price was $790.

Actually i did and i got lots of nice profit, as i bought bitcoins for 360$ each and sold them for 410$ each so i got profit

And when price fell down to 370$, i bought more bitcoins and i keep them even now when price is700$ as i will sell them only for 1000$

But back then yes,i actually earn pretty much for me in that time,i had 0,5 btc bought for about 260$ and i forgot about it and it was wow,i just earned 70$!

The price is $630 at the moment, for each bitcoin, you earn 370 dollars. So for the 0.5 bitcoin, you earn 185.

I think the bitcoin whales are buying the Ethereum now, especially the ETC. The price has risen a lot today.

I noticed that too, but I also noticed that the price of ETH dropped at the same time. But it went back up the next day. It's hard to tell if ETC is overinflated right now. It may come back down.

they are both overpriced by a lot, it is only because of the hype the coin brings to the table. if you look at the history of how ethereum started out and how it rise up to its ATH you will realize that it has all been about the hype that this coin creates.

and so far i haven't seen any improvement, or any real world application out of this coin except talk...

yeah its very good that the ETH is going up now a days as i am holding some of it, I was selling when i heard that ETH was hacked but i didn't and now seeing the progress makes me happy again, and i am hearing that more companies are buying ETH soon so it will lift up the price again :D

ETH is just a good investment if you are a gamer, I am pretty sure the price now is just a game manipulated by the whales. If you look at closely the trend, you will notice that the price is not having a consistent movement and any abrupt increase/decrease can happen anytime. For me, this is not a good investment if you tend to put some for the long term.

ETH has become one of the world's rapid altcoin. moreover bitcoin is currently stagnating prices. bitcoin prices are very slow moving. only $ 5 and never more than that.

The market can't always move and down a lot to please people as it will allow them to make profits in a short time.

I dont accept the theory what you are telling about high market cap will make difficult to manipulate bitcoin prices, for manipulating any coin bitcoin or altcoin it needs only 10 to 20% of the stock to manipulate the coin  fluctuation. If their is any selling of 5% immediately all small traders start to sell and like this this 10% becomes 25% automatically. For manipulating any coin it dont need high or low market cap it just need the users should have faith on the coin. and they should buy when the price is down and not to sell what they are having with them.

The price of bitcoin dropped again to $570. I think it will be fluctuating around the current level for some time.

Of course there are now some people that already booked some profit with this value and the people that is waiting is not greedy and that is nice for themselves in the future. Because the most people are holding it now and that is nice because they also see that the halving is coming towards to us.

People who has made an investment with a low value have of course now some profit but they are not greedy and wait for a higher value so they can earn more profit. But it will be really hard to know what is going to happen with Bitcoin later in the future and that is the risk that you should take.

That is why it is so great to just invest and forget about it for a couple months, just keep on eye on the price every other day. In my opinion both active traders and lazy traders also do get chances to make huge profits with bitcoin trading.

I think the Monero price will rise again in the near future. So it is better to hold the Monero at least for the short term.

It is always good to diversify our investments than keeping everything in one product. So I suggest keep both of them and you will make a good profit after some time and it also will help you to reduce your loss in case any of them go down.

Monero is an altcoin which its most powerful appealing option has the privacy. I know many people love privacy especially nowadays where all the governments are after each individual so this coin may be does have potential and I would buy a few coins now that the price is really low. I didn't made any profit nor I lost when the price touched $400 because I'm still holding and I planned to hold more for a longer time. I didn't even sell when the price was more than $700 so will never sell under this price as much as I can. The bitcoin price sometimes gets manipulated but I have decided for myself to not sell the bitcoins under 4 digits.

unfortunately i was not here when that happened else i would have made a big profit cause I am a big time investor in bitcoin.
Now bitcoin is around 600$ so would be 200 per bitcoin profit and that would have made me enough money for a nice new car so I am kind of sad i missed the oppurtunity but what can you do right ill be here for the next round.

When i joined bitcoin world the price was nearly 200$ of worth but unfortunately i had no money for buying it nor i knew anything about growing or something but i just wanted to earn with faucets where i almost wasted a lot of my time...

I think it is not that we do not have the money, if we are really interested to buy bitcoin we can find a way to have money and buy bitcoins, we have a similar experience and I really do not believe the price will increase before until now that I have read the necessary information that has convince me that the price will increase.

I also think the bitcoin has some value in it. So I bought some in 2015. And I still hold them to wait for the price rise.

That is a good value already and if you sell it now you will be at more profit, however holding it will give you more opportunity to earn because the price that we are seeing now is not at its peak and we can still see more increase in the future and possibly earn more money if we sell at a good price, right now, do invest and add more to earn more.

When btc touched 400$ I didn't buy any and I regret it very much. It was because I didn't have a way to buy at that time and I couldn't earn so much while it was that low. If it would be possible for me I would have bought a good amount and booked profit by now. Next chances ill be prepared for it.

I haven't booked any profit when btc was that low because I tend to be a unlucky person and always miss these chances so no I didn't but for when it comes next time such a big drop then for sure I'll be buying lots and lots as much as I can safely afford because it always goes up and its like free profit anyways.

This were the times when btc was steadily climbing up and no one even bothers to see. Also, this was the time when most fudders claim that will be the highest point and will retrace back to $200. During these times, I waited patiently and tried not to sell anything even if I already get a x2 on my investments. Luckily, I was able to claim more profits since I waited up until July of this year and sold the coins I bought at $200=$300 and keep those returns for future investments.

At the end of the day, it always depends on what you're planning. Regarding the question of the OP: when the price was in the 400s, I have not sold – this was my buying phase! I started buying heavily at ~250, and I stopped roughly at 400. All in anticipation of the halving. Not that I thought that suddenly there will be a rise because of the decrease in new supply, but because I was quite certain that others think that and they'll drive a speculative bubble. Which they did.

I missed the point to sell slightly below 800$, but I'm still in a good profit, and mostly, I'm only trading the bigger waves. Generally, I intend to hold for quite some time. Won't exit from Bitcoin anytime soon. :-)

I'm hoping for another chance or for bitcoin to raise to 5k and then i can sell them all. Nowadays I track the prices atleast twice a day to not miss anything.

When the bitcoin reached 400 I did make profits cause I managed to gather about 3-4 before it went up to like 750 and thats when I sold them so i made quite nice profit for very minimal work.
Next time when oppurtunities like this come by i will be there again to profit from it thats why i love btc so much.

Let's hope there will be another meltdown of the price of bitcoin so we can buy cheap ones but I doubt it will happen soon, the market has been progressive and for now it seems that it is moving only to one direction, I think instead of waiting we could buy a little for short term investment.

The next big coin to launch is the ZCash. It will be launched in later October. So you have plenty of time to catch the train.

I haven't since I know back then that the halving is on its way and there is a potential that I might be raking up more profits compared to only $400. I relied on previous statistics of bitcoin that somehow, each time block reward halving occurs, there is a high chance that the price would be waaaaay higher than it was before. I'm no expert in analytics or trading, but still I was correct, booked my profit on $670 and enjoyed it and paid off my debts.

Today the price is pretty low we hit below 600 again I was hoping to not get back to that point and only advance forward.
I hope in 2017 we will get above 1k and advance forward instead of always crashing back down losing all the progress which was made.

We missed the golden age where it was easy to make tons of money if you invested some money into bitcoin sadly enough.

The golden age was before 2013. But during that time, the bitcoin was in early stages. There were more risky.

The price of bitcoin was very low then. But there was little possibility that will succeed. You had to take a big risk to invest.

Right now price is stable/going down though. Not by alot but still, I think 2016 is such a weak year for bitcoin.

I booked a little bit of profit at that time it was something like 412 when I bought them up I bought about 3 bitcoin and still have the same ones which is nice cause the price is at 600 or so right now. I'm waiting till it reaches 1k+ to think about getting rid of them.

I never got profit when bitcoin was low due to me not being ballsy enough to buy it quick enough and the next day prices always rocket so hard that it doesn't give me time anymore to benefit from the low prices. Next times I'll be buying in too when it drops hard.

I wish I did but I haven't been part of actually buying bitcoin for a while though. I wish I joined sooner like in 2011 already when bitcoin was 2$ per coin that would be amazing. But maybe we will still get good chances to make money.

Indeed the more it's used the higher the cap and then people would need billions to even change the price.

At least you made a profit, I left BTC when it touches sub 300, then just came  back recently.  So i don't booked a profit  when btc touched 400usd.  But at this point i can say i am able to get profit from day trading bitcoin and altcoins.  Though i hope  that someday i can book a profit just like the earrly adopters of bitcoin.

It is better not to sell the bitcoin at present. The bitcoin price will rise a lot when more people start using it.
