I have sold half of my coin at 455 mark today, is there anyone who have also sold on this range today.
I think this sudden rise seems to be pure pump rather than anything. Lets see till where it will reach. What is your prediction for this pump ?

I think the price will goes up little bit more from $455, if i were you i would sold at $480-490.i think it will be a good choice to hold 1 more week or the first week of 2016.

No one knows exactly what will happen in future.That was just my choice i am holding till jan 6.Then i will sold half wait 2 more weeks and will take another decision.

Bought on the break sold just then on Huobi....still holding on Kraken...suspect this will go a little higher yet......but no too much higher.

25th Dec is 3 Months Futures expiry date on OKCoin. Some traders reckon that BTC has been pushed up and parked up here for this contract turnover event after which point, selling pressure is likely to ensue.

There is no reason to sell at this price. It only went up a few bucks. Nothing spectacular. I wouldn't want to risk buying back at a higher price if the price doesn't go back down. Holding till the block halving is still the way to go.

We are in a range....for a range trader, that was a decent pump.

Absolutely NO guarantee whatsoever that the range will break up. In fact, most pros will tell you it is more likely to break down.

This is what going to be the situations of this December sellers.
I strongly believe prices will test new high, I mean testing above #1200 price levels are highly expected within first quarters of 2016. Then these sellers will be forced to buy above their selling prices.

Not me, because I got nothing to sell. If a pump happens I think surely bitcoin is able to reach to $600.

yeah like they were telling us that it will most likely break down to sub 400 after the previous dump, guess what? it did not happen, instead we are returning to 470

so i'm not believing those that want us simply to dump, the final outcome is up, so dumping now is stupid, you won't really earn anything, only putting you in a nice exit from an up trend, which sound very bad

As the chart shows. Today’s rage is defined by in term support at 434.50 to the downside, and in term resistance at 438.44 to the upside. These are the levels that we’ve got in focus today.

We will initially look for a break above in term resistance to validate an upside entry towards a bullish, medium term target if 443.54. This is a pretty tight target, so a pretty tight stop is warranted. Somewhere in the region of 436.50 should do the trick.

actually i didn't do that and still hold my bitcoin with the current price $460 i think there are still a chance to rise again

I would've held if I were you. In 2016 we may see the price reach $1000. I doubt anyone is going to sell ,if they are smart .

Hell no! I am holding like a boss, and I'm not even considering to sell a single Satoshi before the block halving, unless it is for trading purposes. But even my trading coins won't get sold for anything below $500-$550.

I sold bitcoins some and I will sell more when we go to 480 dollar,  490 dollar and all at 500 dollar.

Before the blackhalving in july i expect the price to go down again.

Like many people I did sell my coins already. I anticipated on the 440 to  400 dollar scheme.
But that didn't happened. I hope it will go down now

You are very optimistic indeed. the outlook for 2016 is very good, but so far i haven't seen a reason why more investors stepped in.

But based on the current information I think the price will stablize or come in a decline.

If you made a little or good profit then you did a good job.

But personally i am not selling because i think that the price will be higher.

Maybe this year it would not be any big jump but next year will be interesting.

Next year will be a more than interesting year for Bitcoin with huge loads of volatility as we are comming closer to the block halving. The rest of the current year will be just like it has been last days. No action. It will stay around the current price level.

all i know is that you guy can not see the big picture, this pattern is so obvious is not even funny, the market is playing the same shitty play of the previous range, but with a different first digit 2xx, 3xx and 4xx, all look the same

I have sold some too, but not because of the price, but because I tend to buy/sell in all ranges. Just put buy orders and sell orders a little above that. When they fill, I repeat the proccess, getting a small profit whenever two orders fill.

I think most people sold since they are afraid it will go back to 440 or even under the 400 area. I did sell too, but not all.
This pump is so weird compared to other pumps, it would make no sense they would stop at 460 USD

Some fellow traders i know sold already at 440. I guess it would be a good moment to sell now, but at this moment anything can happen.

Well selling is not bad, People want to take profit and altough i didn't i do understand the why and whom.

I sold at 3010 CNY....took a little short on Kraken at €314, but came out it at @316....and have bought back on Huobi at 3025.

There is another 1.5K Ask Wall been erected on $460 on Stamp.

These walls (esepcially on the 'cash out' exchange) are erected to be devoured........another small BTC pump incoming I think.

Huobi with it's fake volume will ramp, bots/traders will then follow on Western exchanges.

That's because nobody wants to admit buying back higher than they sold. No matter how much they made in profit when they sold, the bottom line is they fucked up.

No matter when you sell, or when you buy, 99% of the time, the market will taunt you by going lower, or higher. But if you never take profits, then you never get profits.

Bulls need to be careful up here though.....Chinese Capital Flight Cowboys are cashing out in bulk on Western Exchanges, and using 'dubious' volume on CNY exchanges to drive market into thier Sell Walls.....the BTC that is being sold up here at retail prices, will be bought back at wholesale prices down below.

Well, I bought a Steam game for 1.5 bitcents. I know, sometime when that would buy a mansion I will question my decision, but it was the quickest option at the time....

I sold some coins a bit before Christmas to buy a gift. I just though I'd buy back sometime in January. I'm just hoping it stays at this floor till early next year.

You guys realize that these days bitcoin is traded by a completely different crowd to even just a few years ago.

Back in the day most traders were amateurs. Hell you could even manipulate the price through a post on these forums.

These days most of the traders are either pro's (hedge funds or ex HF traders) or algorithms. And these HF guys and algorithms don't buy btc in isolation. They buy depending on their view of the wider economy just like they buy gold/oil/EUR ....

Basically btc will only go up if the economy goes bad in some way, just like gold. When the economy is in trouble btc or gold start going up. There's no other reason why the price will go up.

So all these speculation or chart analysis is useless. If you buy btc basically you are betting the wider economy will go down. Cause thats the only way btc price will go up. Lets quit any of this bullshit TA or stuff. Btc is now the same as gold in terms of its investment category.

Also just fyi many of these HFs have supercomputers and algo's analyzing billions of data on the economy, even using satellite imagery of parking lots to go behind their trading decisions. Not to say you cant win again 'em but just so you know.

Yet, I can think of a few traders that I have witnessed do rather well in Bitcoin, utilising, you guessed it, TA!

Of course, a distinction should be made between TA, and drawing some pretty coloured lines and graphs on a market chart.

The crowd that trades seems to have changed indeed. But from what I read here on the speculation forum it has become more unprofessional and amateurish. I believe a lot of regular people are using BTC to play around with trading that have not informed themselves enough about BTC but just see a chance to make a few bucks. It's totally brainless to ever sell all of your BTC and why would you do that at 450? Totally random. But go ahead, lose some money and buy back in at 500+ or wait until it goes lower (it might) but if you are unlucky, you will be waiting forever and need to buy back higher and higher. It's just bad trading. But who knows, it may be educational.

So, I wonder what those morons who sold 1000 coins to crash the price yesterday did now? Bought them back? Somebody tried it again with 200 coins today and failed hardly  :D

I would wait for the price to 600, I think bitcoin prices will be more than that, maybe next year the price will be higher again, and if that happens I will sell all the coin I have  ;D

i learned that each time the price remain stuck for so long after a dump, there is a pump, each time it remain stuck so long after a pump there is a dump...it work most of the time

I  was on of the people who did not sell any bitcoin.

Never think in category of loss, you gained something at this time and that is profit for you. Price of the bitcoin is constantly changing and we have no idea if bitcoin will be extramarital expensive asset in the future.
I doubt that you will be able to buy mansion for 1 Bitcoin (not to mention 1.5 bitcent) during our lifetime.

Personally I sold some bitcoins earlier and won't be selling it anymore for now. This could be a mistake - because for whatever reason bitcoin price in January always seems to be really low.

I'm also. I'm expecting some bigger prices like above $2000, so there is no point in selling current level of $450. I strongly believe in halving surprises. So, I do not want to miss those life's biggest opportunities by selling now itself.

Yes even I sold my Bitcoin yesterday when it was more than $450 because of fear of recent dip to $430 and most of people did the same and I am just waiting for the right moment to buy more Bitcoin just wish that there won't be a major slump in the value of BTC.

Yes even I do exchange using localbitcoins.com and I know few really good traders who makes things more smoother for us they might charge slightly more than other traders but these are genuine people with a lot and lot of Bitcoin transactions with good trust.

There is still time to buy in at this price. It has stabilized once again in the mid 400s. That can mean only one thing that as new year comes it will start to shoot upwards in the 500s and beyond. In 6 months time I expect price to be in high 500s

prepare to lose money, there is no sub 400 anymore, i don't know why you are so bearish, but bitcoin has more chances to help bullish traders than the opposite

I wouldn't want to wait till it goes sub $400 as I don't think it will go below that. You are better off buying back some coins at $430 which is a good price. Bitfinex is slightly below $430. Buy while you still can, if you haven't already done it. ;)

Why would I buy for $430 if there are masses of people selling them in panic for less than $420?

Bitstamp and Bitfinex are going down harder than expected due to all the panic sellers. Bitfinex just went below $415. Panic is complete now. :o

Well,to answer your question,NO i didn't sold even 1 bit coz i believe i will hold my bitcoins till i get 5x amount that i invested and that i will call a profit ;) and i guess we will soon cross 600$ by the end of jan 2016 and you will think why you sold..I advice you to buy as much as you can while there's still time :)

Selling now for me is not that great idea, because I don't see for now that the price have a high potential of growing.

I was really hoping to end last year on $500 but I think that I have no right to complain about that.
2016 will be a even better year than last for bitcoin.

The sellers think that 450 is the highest point that the price will reach this year. Which I believe is not true.

Indeed, there are a lot of people that is selling to early because they dont have hope that it will rise in the future anymore and that is quite bad.
I hope there will be more people that believe that Bitcoin will rise in the future but the bad thing is that it will only needs some a long time to rise.

Lot users are selling at the current price, but I don't think this to be a issue, because to get a good profit everyone are supposed to very long time which is not at all possible with most users as they might have some scheduled plans.

Yeah and people who bought at lower price will surely sell a part of their coins at current price, and that is the right thing to do rather then waiting too long.

I think many have sold their coins last December because of the holiday...regardless of the pump or increase in price..I too have sold that time because it is holiday and we need extra cash for the visitors that may visit us during christmas..But it's just fine to sell that time IMO than never enjoying christmas holidays if you don't have extra fiat on hand..

not many people can hold the coins that they bought at todays prices till it reaches the $1000 price level. many people can't keep holding when they see they made around $100 profit per coin. the feeling to sell their coins will get stronger and stronger. and when they see the price drops around $10, then they will directly secure profits. only a very few people can hold strong till $1000 and higher.

The big whales will sell at the $450 range. They want to keep the price low and buy more coins before the halving.

I will not sell at $450 range I will wait little longer and will sell a part of it if it reaches $500 marks, as I think $500 is a good value so if I sell at that value then I can earn higher profits.

well the price is not going that high right now so you wont have such a possibility to sell at 450 right now to be honest and it will take you a bit more time for sure

Price today was at $424 and dropped now to $417, even though it is near (not to far) from $450, I don't have any plan to sell at this price, i expect to sell higher and probably after halving when the price should be increased a bit.

We have seen this happen a lot. When the price tends to go up a bit, a dump pops up making the price go lower again. At the moment it's only a few bucks, but it also happened when we were above $450. The price was dumped down to lower $400's shortly after that.

If the price would reach this high i would not considering selling. In a few years the price most certainly will reach a higher price. We can and will be laughing if we think of the current price.

The current price is high enough for me though as long as it is in stable range than before. Although i consider the big bump slowly but surely.

I think holding them and have patience for the big pump is much better in my opinion, it has a lot more potential to make a lot more profit.

It depends on the volume you are selling, if you are selling a small volume there isn't a much difference between $420 and $450 overall. I think to hold a little longer and hope at the halving to get a better price.

It is not right time to sell as it is stable and holding at $420 right now. So if you wait a little longer maybe for the next 2 weeks you more than likely will see it at $450, the price that you saw back in december when this thread was started. It can only go up from here is what I think will happen.

Who doesn't have patience till halving, $450 is a very good price even. As quoted selling small values there won't be much difference but if you calculate in terms of fiat for low number of btc the variations will be high.

I'm going to hold until the halving, then sell straight after.

Yeah I agree with you, this is not the time to sell your coins, be patient till halving you can gain more because few days before it is expected that there is price drop, but now the situation has changed, so wait and gain the profit.

Since everyone is excited about the halving thing and making threads that price is going to be high that time, I will not sell this time even if it reach $450 again...That would be a wrong timing...You can sell but the price to buy is too high when you are just preparing for the halving...

It will not reach that high value now around this time because you already can see now that the value is not even rising so that wont be that good for those who already have Bitcoin.

I think the price will trade between $400 to $450. So I will sell at $450 and buy back at $410 or lower.

they make the mistake to sell their coins too early and you know what happens after that? they buy back at a much higher price because they want to get rid of the horrible feeling that selling too early gives them. that's why the best option is to just hold all the coins that you have if you don't need the money any time soon.

Yeah your right but i think block halving is too far and if you want to make a profit you can some of your bitcoins dont sell all your bitcoin just some of them so that you can make a profit even a little.. and there's a chance that the price will decrease again back..

Truly selling your bitcoin at a price higher than $400 surely gives you a good profit, right now most had suggested to hold just for the reason of halving. On halving you might experience a very good profit than selling now.

People buy or trade for bitcoins in many different rates and selling for $400 each brings no profit to them. Everything 500 and up should be considered a small/good profit but i hope too that the price will be increased at the halving.

I think we will see some type of bullish rally going back and forth after the halving..

But it`ll eventually come around to that price range of being the new norm of $500.

For the time being, the new norm is $450. If the price stays around $450 for some time, and does not drop below $430, it is good for the future price.

The price will not rise that high, as you can see now you see that the price is not even that high now and that will change later and that can be nice for Bitcoin itself.
In the end of the year it will have the value of $500 and that is all I think it is not that much but we have to deal with it and just dont sell it too early otherwise you are losing money.

I'm selling 50% of my bitcoin right now. If the price goes down, I'll buy more BTC. If the price goes up, I'll sell my other 50%

I also want to sell because I need some money but I am in dilemma should I sell now or would it be better to wait 2-3 days.Price is going up but nobody knows when it fall again

I will not sell before 500 dollars. I know the price eventually will get there. Maybe this month or at the end of this year. Why take a little profit and hope to buy back lower if you can just wait.
Patience is a virtue people.

I won't sell before 600 dollar. The price for this year will be around 600 so if we wait the price will go up more and we will have more profit.

this time the price will not act the same  movement as it done before. I think this time the up trend is going higher to reach $500 soon.

If you are in need, why wait longer, sell it now so you could use your money in real life...But if  you are going to sell it because you want to buy something, better wait a little longer...

well, if you are going to buy something with bitcoin, and not selling to buy with fiat, then i say you should always do that without hesitation because that is what bitcoin is all about.
but if you want to sell to use fiat then you should avoid it always.

though why to sell it right now, im pretty sure there are some ways of making money not only from bitcoins as not a lot of people are dependent on bitcoins and nothing else at the moment

i will definitely not sell anything right now because i know that my bitcoins that i have now will be worth way much more than they are right now, hopefully im right and i will make a lot of money

That is right. I will collect the bitcoin when the price is still below $450. That is very good value for us.

we know 450 is a good value for bitcoin but for holders it is not a good time to sell for the price o 450 range.. and i think its better to hold it.. but if you are a trader and you are just following the flow of the market you can make a profit buy and sell(buy cheap and sell high) .
Thats we saw the price of 460 last few days ago and drop back to 440.. because of traders.. because they know the flow of the bitcoin and they have a lots of strategy to speculate the price of bitcoin.. just like in forex.. so its better to sell bitcoin right now but if you are smart and you can speculate it.. just sell it and wait to buy again for the lower price..

Once the price reached $1000 I will sell some of my coins and saves the remaining and earn even more coins and I don't have intention to buy coins, also I don't lose my coins in gambling or in any other investments.

We wont go that high value now because the value keeps stable for a long time and it would be maybe next time a higher value soon because the halving is also coming.
And the most people are hoping that the value is going to be nice for the Bitcoin so we can earn more money soon with Bitcoin and that would be perfect for us.

I think the price of bitcoin will rise, but quite slowly. The price has reached a stage that no big pump will happen.

I don't mind seeing the price increase slowly as I am happy with any kind of growth that comes my way.

Also, pumps happen from time to time. The price level doesn't matter much in that aspect. Whales pump the price when they feel the time is right and when it allows them to make high profits.

Bitstamp and Bitfinex are going down harder than expected due to all the panic sellers. No need to panic now. The price will cross the $500 mark this month in May 2016

Well, not today, I looked at the price and it seems it was back to $450+ this day, I think it was just due to weekend...That's true, don't panic too much about the price, if possible don't look at it from time to time or if ever, set the time to more than 12 hours.. It's a good time to sell, if you really need to sell this time..

I am not going to sell my coins today because I believe that the price is still going up. If I sell now I am sure that I am going to regret it later on so I am just waiting for the price to up.

It would be better if you are selling it later with a higher value so the chance is also higher that you can earn more money with it and that would be nice for yourself.
and the most people are hoping that the value will be more worth in the future so they can sell it with a huge profit.

I think it is a good price to buy below the $450. The price was kept down by big whales who want cheap coins.

The value is going to rise slowly now and that is perfect for the people who already have Bitcoin so that is nice if you have profit now you have also to sell it now.
Because you never know what is going to happen in the future and that is the problem with the currency.

what you are telling is rise if you have bought in low price then this price is also good to take profit or atleast you can go for your  25% profit booking, because i think everyone is waiting or halving to come and sell on the high price, so in my view $500 is a good price to sell bitcoins not fully but you can start like 10% on every rise. like this your profit will also be good and if any panic selling in market you will be in profit .

no i won't sell my bitcoins today and i think that it is pretty silly to sell them now, with halving in 2 months, also price will rise now more, i don't think that it will fall so it's bad move to sell them now

i will sell my coins only when price will be higher than 700$, and probably price like this will be after halving, so i will sell my coins then only, even if price will rise more than that

Yes, the big whales are doing some tricks to the public and bitcoin users they want all others to sell their coins so that they buy them at lower price, but we do not have to sell our coins and have to wait a little more for the price increase.

We do not have to sell our coins now and have to wait a few months more , we will hear a great news in that few months about the price of bitcoin when halving will occur, and when we sell at that time we will earn a better amount.

As soon as SegWit is announced, the price will be boosted to 500+.

And the halving later.

I appreciate so much the Core developers which are working for the SegWit carefully, not listening at the irresponsible calls from the media for premature movements.

Everyone know that what will happen in the future with bitcoin and everyone is preparing for that. Everyone has the knowledge that at halving the price will boost up with highest jumps and will give  highest profits to everyone.

As you can see now you see that the value is going to be more worth and that is nice for the people who already have Bitcoin so they can sell it soon in the future.
But nobody will of course dont know what the value will be in the future and that is the problem of Bitcoin.

If the price go below $450 again, I will buy some and then sell when the price is above $465. That is $15 profit.
