I believe in life after death I mean u can't just be in and endless darkness in my opinion

I believe it, because i m also believe in God, after death God will give us paradise or hell.

Of course I do not believe in afterlife. Only people with low IQ does. There is absolutely zero scientific evidence that any kind of reincarnation of humans would be possible. I don't believe in heaven, not in hell.

After we die there is simply nothing. Just like before you were born. Just like when animals die. You just die, simple as that. It always amazes me how adults can seriously believe otherwise.

Although I don't truly believe it, i like to think that there is, only because it helps to get rid of that fear of death, and of the nothingness that follows that continues for ever.

The whole concept of self is debatable as well,when you work on that you realize that the idea of after life just can not be possible.

I'm not religious so I don't beleive that there is afterlife. But I guess maybe it makes it easier and gives some hope for the people who beleive in that. My grandmother was religious, seh beleived in God but not in life after death.

I can't say that I believe in ghosts, but I hope that there is some kind of afterlife, at least  I really want to believe in that. Why? Probably because if there is  only emptiness after death, it is very disappointing and kind of depressing, but the hope for the life after death adds more meaning and joy to the present life. The fact, that despite every bad things that happen in my life I will see every person that death had taken away from me, cheers me up. If I hadn't believe in afterlife, I would have been constantly thinking that we have only one try, one chance, which would make me very anxious about every move I make. Absolutely I believe life after death. My mother prove it to me in a different way. My mother died when I I'm in school. Shy to say but I'm a mama's boy when I was a child. After a month of her death, my mother walk into my dream and talk to me. She said that it was beautiful and a peaceful place. She saw many angels there and also god. You know why I believe my dream? Because she told me that she have a savings behind the painting of my grandfather&grandmother. And its true. It was a big amount of money for me and my father. My father was shock when he found out how I found the savings of my mother. GOD do exist. :)

I am an atheist and I don't believe in any afterlife.

Furthermore, I have been in many so called "infested" places (castles, manors, cemeteries, asylums etc.. both active and abandoned ones) and never had any kind of paranormal encounter, both day and night time.

There is no real proof of any afterlife communication, but lots of charlatans that pretend to speak with the deads just to milk desperate people's money.

When youre physical body dies, youre consciousness/spirit/soul moves on to the higher realms. If you read the book of Genesis there is clear we can understand that people used to live not just 150 or 200 years, but much more. Of course if we assume that the soul lives forever, we mean immortal.

The first question has to rely on the existence of God and the faith of man. Not everyone can afford to believe or assume the existence of God real. From this we can assume the existence of another world where people come after death.

I'm sure that many people believe that all the same that there is after death, otherwise it would be very scared to leave. Although scared to die, but when you believe it is not such a terrible feeling.

There is a compelling argument about afterlife, such as why do we dream about our dead but only those we knew and had interactions with in our lives.
For example I have yet to see my grandfather while I have dreamed about other past relatives even with new content, what I mean about content is that I have seen things and talked about things which never did either in my interactions with them when they were alive.(means it's not all in my brain because my brain never experienced such events in real time).
So I wonder why can't I see my grandfather in my dreams? is it because I never knew him and therefore my brain has nothing to work on simulate things? or simply there are nothing beyond this physical world? I even have my doubts but that doesn't make me to believe any less in God.

I'm not very religious, but I think I believe there is something after death, something that we couldn't scientifically explain in our times.

Our material being, our body will still be part of the biosphere once we die. If we are only the body, we will be part of a lot of living beings.
And the soul, in my opinion exists. I don't care about religions, but the soul exists. I simply feel it.

a) Because I know the fact that we are higher order multicellular organisms, that has evolved from a amoeba-like organisms over billions of years.

b) I do not believe in the concept of soul, although I believe in the concept of humanity and morality.

c) I believe in the Anthropic principle, the kind which states that the Universe had necessary conditions somewhere which allowed intelligent life to be created.
 Hence, this "problem" of existence that you and I are facing is limited only because we are conscious of that thought. Only you and I are capable of harbouring a thought that we are thinking and assimilating profound thoughts related to our existence and our place in the universe. That is the reason that it is plausible that you and I (admittedly, not any more) would create a scenario where we do NOT HAVE to accept that when we die we just end, we just stop, we just perish and we just brutally stop existing: no, we cannot do that.

I suggest you begin to embrace scientology where a lot of understanding to embrace logic of universal belief, sometimes religion can't be understood by logical reasoning, and it's called the spiritual needs include parts of body and soul. If you don't believe or whatever is not a problem, but at least if it believed in life after death we can have expectations and assumptions because most people before dead are never ready and afraid to be empty cell, will not live again

It is not necessary to be an adherent of some religion in order to believe that there is a soul and karma. You need to learn more about esotericism about the rebirth of the soul, the laws of the universe, karmic tasks.

But the point remains: the human experience isn't limited to tangible things. You can consciously experience an entire world in your imagination while you dream. It isn't a stretch to think you could experience something else intangible after death.

So an afterlife could make this life more important. It just depends on what that afterlife means in relation to this life. If the afterlife is just another life like this that is unaffected by our previous actions, then it would devalue this life.

I would agree with you on that, however it's hard for me to see a scenario where the two lives aren't related.

Even disregarding a religious view of this life very directly affecting the next. I think it would be much more likely that we at least retain knowledge, memory, or experience from this one into the next life.

Also this is all speculation and opinion and we will not find out what happens with certainty until we die.

To those who do believe in an afterlife, I won't tell you to stop believing. You have every right to believe what you want, and I support that right. I'm explaining here why I disagree with that position.

Scarcity is what gives something value. If life (biological + afterlife) is eternal it infinitely devalues any given moment.

There are a lot of "science as a religion" posts on here. I want to remind people that scientific theories are based on repeatable, quantifiable experiments and updated, modified, or abandoned when new evidence is presented. Science isn't an end-all description of the world we live in. It's a limited understanding of the world as we can measure it and model it.

That's only one way of looking at value. If this life affects the next, even at all, I'd say that makes this one valuable.

The flying spaghetti monster is a good example. Often times "science as a religion" folks will take it as a jab at religion (and it is a jab at religion), but it's also a statement about science. If something cannot be tested, science has nothing to say about it. It doesn't make sense to teach children about the FSM in a science class because there is no way to gather evidence to support it as a theory or test it. Science simply doesn't cover the FSM, just as science simply doesn't cover the question "What is beauty" or "how does this song make you feel?"

Scarcity isn't the only thing that gives something intrinsic value, I would say that all the things life can offer makes it valuable.

Afterlife is such an ill-defined term I couldn't tell you if I believe in it or not.

I am agnostic. I've never heard an argument from an atheist that was any better than an argument from a theist, non-theist, or other-theist. My experience is that atheists have a type of faith in the non-existence of religious constructs just as strongly as theists have faith in their religion.

Do I believe the persona Jonluw will keep on existing in some alternate plane after my body stops living? No. Do I believe what I consider my essential "self" continues existing after Jonluw is dead? Yes, but there's nothing supernatural involved in it.

We are all just made of waves of energy on some level. Energy can't be created nor destroyed, it merely changes form. So the "afterlife" may not be as a human entity, but it is certain that we can't just disapear.

Yes. but not in the sense that you think. your energy will continue to exist, you will return to the ether of the universe from which you came. and your physical molecules will be redistributed to the rest of the earth by nature. However, you will no longer be self aware so it wont matter. your consciousness will exist in the same same state that it did before you were born. however I'd like to believe that your consciousness will someday inhabit a new life form with a clean slate and continue this cycle for eternity as the universe collapses and starts over again and again..

I didn't until recently. My dog died in my arms last week but before he did he looked me straight in the eyes then turned and focused on something over my shoulder, like something was there calling him. He sighed then died. It broke my heart but for now I'm choosing to believe he was guided away to some place better. It helps

I mean honestly, who knows? Practically though, make sure you lead a good life here on earff while you have the chance. Doing good and leaving a legacy of said good among the quick will set you and yours right.
