Title: [CoinURL] All ways to monetize your content! [BID LOW AGAIN! PLACE ADS!!]
Post by: mc_lovin on January 30, 2013, 04:20:04 AM
Greetings!

CoinURL (https://coinurl.com) is back in business!

Advertise your Bitcoin and non-Bitcoin products and services today!

Over 10,000 members!

I have set up an Operation Fabulous ad banner which will be displayed across the campaign management.  Minimum bid is set at zero and there will only be one box so you will get maximum exposure for your bitcoin. Ad box link -> https://operationfabulous.com/advertiser/index.php?e=site_page&wid=1253

Brief description how the service works.

1. The advertiser buys some number of impressions for chosen CPM price.
2. The publisher posts his shortened links to some place in the Internet.
3. When a user clicks the link, all ads participate in selection procedure. Ads with higher CPM have better chances to be shown. So this advertiser will get faster completion of his campaign.
4. Clicks are being analyzed to detect cheating. Legitimate are paid, impressions from fake clicks are completely refunded to the advertiser.

Well we are not withdrawing out BTC, neither from our publisher nor our advertizing accounts.

Time to switch the ads back, to real BTCitcoin ads.

Glad it's back. Too bad it came with an empty wallet. Sounds like they tried to rip us (the users) off, whoever owned it previously.

:)!

Glad it's back. Too bad it came with an empty wallet. Sounds like they tried to rip us (the users) off, whoever owned it previously.

There is some logic to it not coming with a wallet, if it came with a wallet the site would have cost as much + the wallet funds which nullifies the point of coming with the funds in the first place...  But yea, him selling the domain names it did seem like he had intended on leaving the users hanging.  I'm so glad I had the opportunity to bring everything back online and save the day for everyone!  :)  I was always so frustrated at how low the bids were on the site and how little the publishers were earning, so the user balances themselves aren't a back breaker by any great amount, I'm sure the site will quickly regain financial equilibrium from the zero wallet, and at that point I will definitely lower or even nullify the fees.  Right now a publisher can get all of their funds and not face a fee if they put their funds back into advertising and that works out great since at that point all I need to do is keep the server paid up, and the hosting fees are not going to break the bank, I don't have to look at the site's earning and look at the hosting fees and see a problem if the site costs more than it earns, all I need to do is focus on further promotion of the site and try bring in more clients to make more money that way!  I'm a great marketer, and I know of many ways to bring CoinURL to the next level and any costs between now and then are just stepping stones to the future.

Hi mc_lovin,

I got a comment today from a "site" that thought we had stopped our revenue sharing program.

However, when i log on to coinurl and check the revenue sharing for his/her address it shows up with a balance
but when i check the address in blockexplorer there are no transactions.

I pointed him/her to the coinurl site so he would know we are not scamming him/her, but still there seems to be a
problem with the revenue sharing payouts.

Any comments.

Are you planning on integrating/merging OpFab with coinurl?
Or you are planning torun it as two separate services.

Interesting, as far as I have been aware, I get the payment requests from one script and I pay them out with another, if there is something different with revenue sharing, and it could very well be, I will ask the old admin!

Are you planning on integrating/merging OpFab with coinurl?
Or you are planning torun it as two separate services.

Good question,

I would love to integrate the two of them, but there are a lot of things standing in the way.

OpFab is built on so many different architectures that are completely not compatible in any way, plus the way the bids are done and everything, basically they are two completely different, even non-competing, ad services.  It would feel sloppy to integrate them I think.

On top of that, I don't own OpFab entirely.  I would rather buy the other half of OpFab than sell half of CoinURL, yknowwhatImean?

Just setup an account and put ads on the bottom of our pages at Pizzaforcoins.com. Our hope is that it will offset costs so that we can lower pizza prices.

Great service, easy to setup! :)

From pulling up the website to having the ads on the bottom of ALL our pages took less then 5 minutes. Thanks!

I put up some ads on my blog (http://pixomania.net) and on my bitcoin game (http://bitpoint.pixomania.net), so far only got 0.036 from ad revenue, but I probably need to get some more traffic before I can earn more :P

Why don't you remove the link shortening thing?
It's only used for crap, earnings are extremely low and it completely kills the server.

Remove that, save a lot of money in a cheaper server, hire some designer, remove the 25% fee... Profit for everyone!

Fees reduced as soon as humanly possible.

Link shortening thing is actually more popular than the banner ads.  You'd be surprised.  If need be I'll upgrade to a larger server! :)

You offer english and russian? language settings on your CoinURL...

Are you interested in adding a german language feature?
I'm native german and looking for a honest way to earn some first BTC... If you're interested just PM me what you would be paying for a complete translation of front and backends.

Would be cool to have more german-speaking Bitcoin services in order to grow the bitcoin communities in Austria, Swizerland and Germany.

That would be great!  PM'd!

aaaaaand....

CoinURL gets a server upgrade!

We went near a million impressions per day and the spinning disk could not keep up with MySQL.  Upgraded to a 32GB server with an SSD!  Several times the performance, less memory is needed now because everything can just be processed that much faster!

Thank you!  :D

You're welcome!

and here's another awesome one, since we've been running for a month or so we're starting to get more comfortable so I reduced the withdrawal fee.

Withdrawals now only 15%!

I'll reduce it further but we'll see how that goes.  I think that's fair!  It was 25% since the beginning, and I think that was too high and many others did, but I had to keep them the way they were until we could afford it.  We're doing pretty good so far I would say!

Well, I think a lot of ads weren't delivered before the server update... Thats why a very short reaction time of the adserver is very important.

Clicks have gone up the same amount?

Two of my ad slots were marked as "Verified" recently. There is nothing on the site that explains what that means, so it would be helpful if you added an explanation about it somewhere on the site.

Also, the server upgrade was really needed, before the upgrade the ads could take as long as 10 seconds to load, whereas now they load pretty much instantaneously. :)

Well it is  displayed in CoinUrl when you ask for verification:

Quote
The "verified" status for an advertisement slot allows the website owner to receive additional income through our affiliate program. Every time an ad is shown, your referral link will be embedded into the "Ads by CoinURL" label!

The "verified" status can be assigned to all sites having legitimate content, do not urge users to click ads, and do not have any ads from competing Bitcoin advertising networks. Your ad slot will be manually reviewed within 24 hours. If it is accepted, you will see an icon near the slot title; otherwise, an email will be sent with the reason for rejection.

The thing is, I never asked for my ad slots to be verified. My site also has ads from competing Bitcoin advertising networks.

Nothing wrong with it, it was just really unexpected. I have a hunch it was a mistake, though.

Oh,

I looked at the highest traffic ad slots we had, and verified them without asking.  This way when users click on the CoinURL logo in the corner of your ad, you get credit for referring them!

I'm using IE10 on W7.

The new theme is quite broken. The menu bar is white on withe and not readable.

I allso get "Only secure content is displayed", so you seem to load some components with HTTP from a HTTPS page.

That error should be gone now.

I think it was because there were fonts being grabbed from Google that went over http.  I changed it to have no protocol so it defaults to https now.  I see no more errors!

The broken theme thing was your browser not grabbing a fresh copy of the styles.  I renamed the files so your browser grabs them correctly now!

Cheers!

Let me know if this is something you'd be interested in, as I'm looking to recoup my initial deposit.

I'd like to set a minimum value to accept adds in the banner profile.

With some text adds yielding as little as 0.00000600 BTC pr click I'd rather use the slot on another network.

With a 0.00000600 fee I need more then 12 clicks to make USD$ 0.01 at current BTC prices. This is just ridiculous.

Didn't know if you got my contact request, but I suggest you compress that javascript from coinurl to save on bandwidth.  Take a look at http://www.euperia.com/website-performance-2/gzip-javascript-css-nginx/829.  Your PHP is compressed, but not the md5 javascript code.

The banner system is the pay per click system.  The interstitials are pay per impression.  Just from the menu choose Advertise, then New Banner Ad. :)

I forwarded it onto my developers, it seems like an easy enough thing to implement and hopefully they do that soon.  They are just so overwhelmed right now with redesigning the statistics that it might take a bit before that is done but it's up there on our to-do list!  Thanks for pointing it out! :D

Quick question. I tried your banner ads and this is the results I get:

Visits
14

Pages / Visit
1.07
Site Avg: 4.39

Avg. Visit Duration
00:00:00
Site Avg: 00:04:20

% New Visits
92.86%
Site Avg: 75.56%

Bounce Rate
92.86%
Site Avg: 51.11%

I still have 2-300 clicks in our system to be delivered. Should I expect more or this is the average performance I would get?

Good experience with your site and the process so far.

I am having a small issue at the moment.

What I'm trying to do is exclude a number of domains, I've followed the instructions and still clicks are being recorded for those domains.

Have paused my campaigns for now, please advise.

Thanks.

Mind sharing what are the most popular banner sizes? I want to know which banner sizes I should create.

Publishers
1. Extremely low click price
2. Click fee of 40%
3. Withdrawal fee of 12%

Advertisers
1. less than 1% ROI
2. Very weak proxy/vpn detection

I will now stop using CoinURL.

Nice troll post, But to be honest - IMO - Depending on the content you publish, or advertise - Really does depend on your ROI.

You haven't given a product sale, or detail relating to your ROI of 1%. So we could all assume your trying to sell 19 inch dildo's via BTC, they are not going to sell.

Proxy/vpn detection in an anonymous based advertising medium? Get real.

Click fee of 40%? Doubt it.

Withdrawal fee - yeah I wonder who pays for the server bills every month at coinurl? hrmmm thats a tough one!

Low click price, thats a bonus - What we would spend in google ( $250 ) we only spend $10 for the same result in coinurl.

Is this supposed to be a negative review?

Low click pricing is very common in new ad networks.

Google gets 32% click price, some ad networks get up to 50%, if they get 40%, let it be 40%...

The withdrawl fee is kinda strange...

It is very easy to have no ROI at all if you don't know what you're doing, no matter what ad network you use.

Haven't tested proxy/vpn detection, but it's a new ad network don't expect it to be perfect...

Proxy/VPN detection is a must for an advertising with pay-per-click. Hmm, no... maybe you like to get clicks by the same person 10 times a day just because he feels like fucking around.

#2
Yes, 40% fees, don't say 'doubt it', prove me wrong with concrete proofs. (And I'm the troll)

#3
Where did I say there shouldn't be any fees? (yeah I wonder who pays for the server bills every month at coinurl? hrmmm thats a tough one! huehuehuehue)

#4
This is not a "new" site, it's been around for quite some time.

#5
Don't tell me I don't know how to use advertising networks, I'm in this business for years, and 60% of my money comes from revenues from sites like CoinURL, so don't even go that way.

Actually, I did test VPN detection (I forgot, sorry), no clicks were credited, used openVPN, several countries...

What's wrong with the 40%?

And I agree with the withdrawl fee, that's strange!

As far as I can see, CoinURL was announced May 01, 2012, that's new, that's like yesterday! Adsense is 10 years old! Yahoo Ads, former GoTo was lunched in 98 or so.

Sorry I don't know your curriculum, but as I understand, bitcoin is still small, and a very niche business, with very tech savvy users, this is not the most profitable crowd, not for the publisher nor the advertiser.

But I feel your pain, what I make, as a publisher, with 1 adsense click, I probably need like 1000 with CoinURL, but Adsense has millions of advertisers...

Good thing I check the services topic and saw this post, I was wondering why I was receiving no traffic to my website with a coinURL forwarder.

Yap, I guess I'm gonna remove the ads also, this might take a while...

Removed mine.

Also I want to know why the hell I have to pay 12% of MY BITCOIN that I transferred to advertise. I've transferred some of it out and haven't seen 1cent yet.

This whole thing now smells funny...

The guy who runs coinurl is trustworthy, I've sent him a pm and he usually replies within 12 hours.

I am using both Coinurl and a-ads on my sites. The revenue from the former seems to be higher.
