I have always thought about that but it has never happened to me.

Not personally. If I did then it would go straight back. It might be someone's abortion fund for all I know. By the sounds of it it happens when people have addresses stored and send to one from a previous transaction.

Many times thought about it that may accidently I receive 1btc and feel very happy but never ever happened in my life. Even I not receive 0.1$ any time. If it will happened in reality, then I should go through a good amount, get profit. Play again and get profit. Try 2 to 3 times more then send that amount back to that address. So I will have a good profit in my wallet. But I think it will still just only a dream. May happens true ! :)

Someone sending to the wrong address is rare and never happened to me. But what I experienced, and I believe is much more common are small Bitcoin amounts around 0.0001 BTC which are sometimes send to many random addresses. For those curious, there is sometimes message on blockchain.info - probably promoting ponzi site (at least this happened to me few times).

I seem to remember a very dedicated dust spamming campaign somehow related to the Sochi games. No idea what they were trying to achieve there.

Not accidentally but more or less randomly. IIRC Primedice ran a promotion sending out btc to frequently used bitcoin addresses back in 2013 and I was one of the lucky ones.

The chances is close to impossible. Most likely they get your address from somewhere or they have sent you some coins in the past and accidentally use the address again.

Or else it will then be the 1Enjoy kind of scam which I did receive dusts (100 bits) from them.

no i have never received any bitcoin my accident but i received dust spam from coin doublers advertising their scam.

also there is no way to receive bitcoin by accident! because the person sending bitcoin should have your address in order to send it by accident and bitcoin address is not like a bank account number. so for example changing one char to another char will not lead to another bitcoin address it will be a wrong address that doesn't exist because of checksum.

100K satoshi is 100k satoshi and if you received it for free, that's great. It would be nice for me to experience that as well since I have not been lucky enough to be the recipient of those bitcoins being sent accidentally. Would probably use them to buy altcoins since it's something that I'd consider just bonus and not afraid to lose all of it.

Actually I never received it, but I once accidentally put the wrong amount of bitcoin when I topping up my prepaid mobile phone. I put 0.015 which the right amount was 0.0015. Fortunately, the customer service of the site was very helpful and refunded my money. Then I realized how bad the person feel if they send their money into wrong address or with wrong amount.

You were lucky, as such things occur either due to errors in address or by the mistake of the sending entity.
It happens sometimes that people got some small satoshis in their accounts for no reasons.

Of course I do not mind that it has happened but it stays weird.

Title: Re: Have u ever received BTC accidentally or randomly?

The chances of that happening is very slim. <Accidental transfers to a wrong address> You do get people, who would send a few Satoshi's to a known address, just to advertise something, but that cannot be defined as accidental. There are simply too many possible addresses for people to make that mistake. ^hmmmm^

I have never received bitcoin accidentally or randomly! Probability of happening so is very less. I have never sent bitcoin to any wrong address as well  because I always double check before sending bitcoins and sometimes when I send large amount, I use to check up-to five times.  ;D :P

Not till toady its happened with me but I think some day it will happen. If i got some free btc then it will be a good thing for me. But as i know about btc it will never happened. Because everyone copy and paste address when they send btc. No one type an address.

because many people are looking after it becasue the price of one bitcoin is really high so you dont make mistakes with it.

Yes 2 times.

Once I received 1.14+ BTC on a dice site. Turns out a chat user withdrew his money to my address by mistake. And I returned it at that very moment.

And the second one is even more surprising. I received a 0.004 BTC payment from a random address. The address was spamming the bitcoin network with 1 satoshi transactions and I don't know why it sent 400k satoshi's to my adress.

I had funny situation like that. Well, not exactly - I will explain. One day some time ago I received random amount of btc - IIRC it was something like 0.01 or less something like that, quite insignificant really.
I was wondering where this money come from, and at first I couldn't figure it out, initially I thought someone tipped me or something.
But after day or two I realized that this BTC was bonus from some new casino I said I will test with free money. But I was confused AF back then because I forgot about this offer at first.

I actually did. It came from this address: 1Enjoy1C4bYBr3tN4sMKxvvJDqG8NkdR4Z

Also, if someone were to mistakenly send me maybe 150000 bitcoins, I would not return it since they know better than to ignore who they're sending it to.

"I accidentally sent them, may I have them back?"
Pfft. Impossible for you send me BTC by accident, especially with that large of an amount and considering I usually use vanity addresses. As if 1PandaExaY8XmCLSWbAw2prEjbYKgHY2g wasn't obvious enough.

It's your responsibility to double check, and it's your fault for not doing so. Therefore, your stupidity will give you an expensive lesson. By accidentally sending BTC to that address, you are completely giving up and transferring ownership of said bitcoins to PandaLion98, implicitly or otherwise, and it is at his sole discretion as to what he'll do with it (definitely not going back into your wallet). You have/had all the opportunities to make sure that your bitcoins be sent to your intended recipient, but you blatantly ignored them.

Moral lesson: Always triple check your destination address, especially with large transactions.

I'll be sending a link to this post to whoever messes up and accidentally send me their bitcoins.

There was a thread recently that someone put up, they received an amount and was trying to find out who the sender was so they could notify them and send it back.

I think it is the decent thing to do in the first instance making public the address it came from and txid in the hopes that someone searches for their address to see if they can find their missing bitcoin, then if you cannot find the person at least you tried, it could be that persons last penny, you never know their situation and although they should have double checked the address accidents can happen.

Then if you can't locate them it's down to you what to do with it.

I had this one time. I received 0.15 BTC out of nothing. The story: I once explained a family member of me how his wallet works in the form of sending transactions and such. Nearly a month later I got a call from him saying his  coins are gone while sending them to his cold wallet address. He didn't notice anything for nearly a month! I went there to help him and found out he sent the coins to one of my wallets. The coins that I miraculously received out of nothing had a source right now. I sent him his coins back and explained exactly what he did wrong. He was very happy to get his coins back as it were all his coins.

I`m reading this and smiling. Well I never even thought that something like that is possible to happen to me. That would be like founding a wallet on the street, maybe I have more chances to find that then someone to send me bitcoins just like that.

If something like that ever happen, that 0.3 BTC are going straight in some good casino, and what happens with that amount happens. I wouldn't regret even if I lose everything, but if I win something really big then it would be really lucky day.

i have earned such small transactions too though i think they were only on advertising purposes and nothing else because the transactions were really really tiny to be honest

i have never earned bigger transactions randomly to be honest, those smaller ones were just ads to ponzi scam sites or something like that that i have never used

There is a very low chance that it will happen. If that happens to someone, then most probably it is not an accident. Bitcoin addresses are so random and it is hard mistakenly send your bitcoin to a wrong one. :)

I received about 0,006BTC from strange address last year. I never think that someone could send bitcoin to wrong address because bitcoin address are unique but it happened. First I thought that's from my faucet which had given me bonus, but it's false. The bitcoin come from the address which I don't know whose it's.

Hmmm.  Actually this just happened to me this weekend.  I opened my poker account wallet and found 10 dollars worth of bitcoin in there.  I knew it wasn't mine so I contacted support to let them know that I had received money in my account and I don't know where it came from....All they said was, "if it's in your account, then it's there for a reason."  So, I spent it.  I think that it's important to try to figure out where somebody might have made a mistake by sending their money to the wrong address....I mean, it would suck if WE sent our money to the wrong address, right?

Yes, sending it back to the address it came from doesn't necessarily mean it will go back to the PERSON who sent it.  But, if a mistake like this happens, it usually means that they had made a transaction with you in the past.  In which case, you might have a transaction history of prior engagements with the sending party that you could reference.

There is a very low chance that it will happen. If that happens to someone, then most probably it is not an accident. Bitcoin addresses are so random and it is hard mistakenly send your bitcoin to a wrong one. :)
yeahs I think the low chance that someone is wrong in sending their bitcoin? they just need to copy and paste an existing address right ? and then sent as long as Im using bitcoin. I never get bitcoin like that random or accidentally

this is very rare to get btc randomly or accidently, if it happens it is the mistake of the person sending the bitcoin and the one who gets it is very lucky.

There was a time when I keep on receiving 0.0003 bitcoin every Sunday. Exactly 0.0003 BTC every Sunday. I don't know where it came from but it was when I was just starting out. Maybe I have subscribed into something that I can't remember. I was trying a lot of things in bitcoin and maybe I stumbled into something that pays fixed every Sunday. Anyway, after 2 months or so it stopped sending 0.0003.

it is less likely that the bitcoin address is valid ? I've tried to send via blockchain but failed

In this time the price of bitcoin are really high even though it is fluctuating and getting some bitcoin accidentally is purely luck I think. But its always good to return the amount as they may be hard earned by some one else !
You owe it if you get the money accidentally and you got to return that :)

ahaha, this is just a stroke of luck that is so big if indeed we get BTC randomly. Because of the differences in the BTC addres so big so it is not likely to occur and can only happen when we do the transaction to the person doing the other.

Personally, i have never received stray bitcoins in my wallet. but this is something which is very possible to happen. Just like sometimes you might find money deposited to a wrong bank account, bitcoin is more susceptible to this. Imagine a mere one sentence account number without other details like Account name, branch name, code etc., it is possible to have bitcoins being sent to the wrong wallet address.

But why is BTC more susceptible to it? If it's a typo, then that throws out the address such that it is extremely likely a private key will never be found, and such an address doesn't exist. More likely is the non-technologically enlightened get confused by two different addresses.

Not personally. If I did then it would go straight back. It might be someone's abortion fund for all I know. By the sounds of it it happens when people have addresses stored and send to one from a previous transaction.

It never happened to me so far and I would also send it back, but if I knew was some abortion fund I would definitely not send it back, no one has the right to kill a life no matter you have no possibility to keep it. Thats the worse a human being can do , kill his own creature. Think before you act and this situation will never happen, abortion happens because of alcohol ,drugs and because of alcohol and drugs are so diffused right now at least in my country Italy a lot of bastards are being born from a one night stand.

People who say they receive little amounts probably just caused by confusion or an error from their third-party wallet provider.

Actually, your chances of winning the lotter is better than receiving coins accidentally or randomly.
The % of us winning the lottery is static, since the numbers used are constant while the number of addresses there is continuously increase everytime having us less chance of receiving coins randomly.

well it asks about receiving bitcoin accidentally and if you dont ever share your bitcoin address with anyone then it would be actually theoretically impossible to receive bitcoins on accident

i have never got any bitcoins by accident, though if this would ever happen in my opinion i would just give it right back if that would be a lot of bitcoins because i feel that it would be a big mistake

I don't experience that. But if i experience that happening if i received a big amount of btc i won't go back for who is the sender of btc. Because that is my blessings for me. 😂 but.? If the btc is small amount i should go back to owner. Because i don't need a small amount. 😂 That's a real talk. 😂

First I thought that's from my faucet which had given me bonus, but it's false. The bitcoin come from the address which I don't know whose it's.
Please can you post the address you received from, and man please do research of such addresses you might be wrongly included in a wrong activity like ...you know what I mean, right ?

Chances are if I did get any Bitcoin by accident, though, I would more than likely and it back to whatever address it came from, however I just say that and my actual actions could differ a lot when it actually comes down to what happens. The last thing I want is to get doxxed or whatever by someone who really wants their Bitcoin back.

oh wow, how much bitcoins were there? i think you must have been really lucky because it is really small chance that someone will send you bitcoins randomly in my opinion

i have never received any bitcoins by mistake, though i dont think that it is a bad thing as i would feel guilty for someone then that they lost their money by sending to the wrong address

There is a very low chance that it will happen. If that happens to someone, then most probably it is not an accident. Bitcoin addresses are so random and it is hard mistakenly send your bitcoin to a wrong one. :)
True and adding a additional digit will never make the transaction go through. I though have been lucky earlier as someone ( a site actually ) paid me twice instead of once, I worked and expected 17$ while I get 17$ two times.

Nope, i never ever received bitcoin accidentally. If someone ever received bitcoin accidentally, he must be very lucky. Because the chance to received it is really rare.

Really lucky, but that would have been bad from the side of the sending party. They'd have to shoulder that.

@ontopic I received a 0.05BTC suddenly once. I didn't knew where it came from until a few weeks later when I loggeed in my casino account, turns out there was someone whom I've referred months ago that just deposited and played. I got commissions from him.  ;D

I have never ever been that lucky. On the contrary I lost a lot of bitcoin in the past  to hackers and also to scammers so now I prize every Satoshi I earn and don't let it go into anything that looks dodgy. If I ever received randomly I would be one happy bunny! I am in a gold backed business though so actually earn bitcoin from that five days a week, it's cool to receive some revenues, but not randomly, not that lucky yet!

Ah I think that is what ponzi's do, they send you some bitcoins as a bait and expect you to send them more bitcoins in greed of getting doubled. Sometimes they pay too doubling your money, but the end we all know : LOOSING ALL our money to them.

Because if you received a bitcoin there just a transaction I.D only and not included the bitcoin address of the sender. So how can i back the accidentally bitcoin sending to me.? thats not a lot of money to be honest and i doubt that it was a really big amount of money for the person who made this mistake, i think that someone just pasted a wrong address

i havent received a lot of money randomly to be honest because in my opinion i have never showed anyone my main address so people just dont copy it on accident most probably

But how it happened you received to your bitcoin address or any other site account. Because if you received to site address means it will happen by mistake but to Bitcoin address how without having your address how can they send right.

Fun topic, although I never received any random BTC.  I tend to give more than receive, so many of my friends have received from me, sometimes as a surprise.

Interesting about the ads --  I wonder if after the Halving, it will become cost-ineffective to send.

I guess they could just line up in the low fee queue, since they are not time-sensitive, but they were probably able to push them thru with no tx fees in the past.

Nope, but I have had someone from LBC put money into my bank account, about $1500 USD at the time was about Ł1100 but could never find out who it was, I asked on forums and all and even asked my bank to reverse but they said they couldnt, I even asked my bank for sort-code/account number of that person, similar to BIC/SWIFT but they couldn't tell me because of data protection. No way for me to send the money back really.

So I spent it on a Holiday to Spain :) I tried my very best to get it back to them though. I guess they clicked the wrong contact when paying someone else.

not really and its almost impossible because people don't put btc address manually while sending someone but they just copy and past btc address given by someone, site...etc.and btc address is hard to write or rewrite.
so mistake is null here.

If somebody just accidentaly send you BTC, then its their own fault. You cant blame yourself that you are the one who sinned. You cannot track the owner of that address. If you received 1 BTC then if you want to give it back, then give it back. But if you want to send him a thankyou message, send him/her maybe half or some portion of it. But its your own decision. You know what to do.

I have never had this happen and it seem very unlikely to receive bitcoins accidentally because of the almost infinite number of addresses. What seems more likely is sending bitcoins to the wrong address which may not be used or may never be used. Those bitcoins are most likely lost forever because the address doesn't belong to anyone.

Never received because I don't think this is possible to receive accidentally Bitcoins without having some previous interactions with sender. This is beauty of bitcoin that all addresses are unique and if you change few letters you simply can't complete the transaction. I don't think ever will receive too this is hard to believe if someone claims too.

If it has ever happened to anyone which is almost impossible, then I want to be a partaker,  and benefit from it in the future. Who does not want free money but most people are always careful anyways but it could happen even though chances are slim especially in the payment to different users like a signature campaign. Eitherway, I'm still hoping for one... My 2 cents...

I think it never happened to me that someone sent a bitcoin to my wallet unexpectedly.  All those bitcoin that landed in my wallet address are expected since I had invested to some cloudmining  or stakemining before  and they are  still in operation till now but the reward is more likely very less than the previous rewards.

Yeah we need recheck before sending as if you send it to wrong address then its impossible to recover it and if we receive it accidentally then I think we should enjoy it.

Yes, i too not received any BTC accidently. I think 99% people will recheck BTC address before doing any transaction. Even I also double check BTC address if I do any operation. I think very fewer people will get free BTC like this. They are lucky guys.

It wouldn't matter, I would return it to the address it came from anyways.
Unless it came from multiple addresses like a exchange or dice site or something, then i would post it here on the forum and whoever can show me TX id will get his/hers coins back.

Yeah its good to be honest as honesty will make you different from others and it will also earn you a  great level of respect, its better to return it rather then using free money.

You are really lucky dude, try to search for that address if you can find if it was posted anywhere on the internet.
I have never received any btc accidentally from someone but if someone sends to me I appreciate it but if it was accidentally I would return them if i know that person.

No, I have never received any transaction by mistake.
When I send any tx, I make sure that I am sending the right amount to the right address. And I think all people should do so because losing bitcoin is bad :-D

Yeah we need recheck before sending as if you send it to wrong address then its impossible to recover it and if we receive it accidentally then I think we should enjoy it.
I do not think we should really enjoy it though. Just going by morals, thinking of what the sender's feelings about sending them to the wrong person is quite not a good feeling. Celebrate it, sure. But send them back if possible. Because you might be a sender in some other days by any chances  :P

Hey that might be the famous virus, what actually this virus dos is that when you copy any address it lets you copy it BUT when you go to paste it it will paste their own address ( the hacker or virus's address ) and we never double check friend and boom thats it ! money sent to virus. :(

But I wish to receive such accidental amounts in my wallet. So if you like to send some money to me, you are welcome.

The chances of you having to receive bitcoin randomly from an address, owned by someone you completely do not know, is nigh-impossible. It's easier to win the grand lotto than to receive bitcoin randomly, given the amount of addresses there are.

However, if that ever happened to me, I would be more concern about the ones who sent me bitcoin like that and what’s if that amount is a huge bunch of bitcoin, well then poor them.

It is impossible to get any free bitcoins because its a long string and people usually copy things and never type such big addresses and hence doing mistake is almost impossible.
Yet I can say I got a free 0.012 from my client when he somehow double sent me 0.012 + 0.012 while he had to sent just once and was enough rich to let me keep the extra .012

I kind of wish I received some BTC accidentally or randomly, however I haven't ever actually had something like that happen to me and chances are it is never going to happen to me, which I am fine with in some ways. If I did get some I'd have a debate with myself between whether or not I should send it back or keep it, and I don't want to think about that.

Well I haven't experienced yet that I have received bitcoin by accident and I don't think this is going to happen to anyone that uses bitcoin.

Because the bitcoin addresses that we have are unique and it is very unnecessary that a sender is going to be wrong and accidentally send it to anyone.

And even if this is going to happen to me, I will going to return that to the sender.

I've experienced it before, maybe on last year when I got the payment from a signature campaign. So the campaign manager sent me 0.1BTC instead of 0.01BTC, then I tell him that he sent me too much but then he said that it's okay he just mistyped the amount and I could keep the Bitcoin. What a nice Sig Manager :)

I am thinking of that also when I was still newbie in bitcoin I said to myself "What if someone is going to send me bitcoin by accident," But upon thinking of it again and again that is not possible at all that someone is going to send you by accident because if you made some mistakes by sending bitcoin you don't have option to get it again.

Your statement here doesn't make any sense, if you said that it's not possible for someone to get a random BTC by accident then why did you say that we can make a mistake on sending Bitcoin. Which means getting a random Bitcoin is actually possible if someone accidently makes a mistake while sending his/her Bitcoin.

Happens when we are new since we don't know that even disturbing a single letter in the address can cause serious money loss. I had once did such mistake but did not costed me because I deleted the end character of address and it said invalid address.

This used to happen to me, when I was doing faucets. I was like, 'woah, this guy is so generous!' but then I found it was just an automatic payment from a faucet and I was disappointed.
Sending to the wrong address can happen but rarely. And when it does, there's only a miniscule chance that it goes to you and not someone else.

That's going to be impossible for a disaster to cause a Bitcoin to be sent your address.
The only reason I see that coins can be sent your your address is by mistake through copy and paste. Other than that its impossible, I haven't seen a Bitcoin address that is almost identical with only 1 letter or number difference. System will not allow you to send if its missing a letter or number.

I thought it really did happened to you and upon reading all the comments here majority didn't experienced this kind of scenario and I'm pretty sure that it is not going to happen either.

Because when someone is going to send bitcoin for their transactions, we are becoming responsible for checking the bitcoin wallet addresses that we are going to send the payment.

So, this is not going to happen.

Seriously though, how the hell does one "accidentally" send Bitcoins to the wrong address??  ::) It's not like people memorize Bitcoin addresses, or do they? I know I copy paste my addresses but I triple check them before clicking send. There was this one guy on Reddit who sent 800 BTC to the wrong address.. 800??? like how do you even reach that level negligence lol?? I suppose he could've been high on something. I don't even want to think about the number times I would check everything for that amount, probably spend an hour or more just checking and re-checking  :D

I do not think that someone will message you to sent it back to them.  It is totally impossible as he only knows the bitcoin address not your email address.  But in case that it is your friend or someone you have transacted before then it could be possible.

We all wanted to happen that to us with a good amount of bitcoin.  If that happens then it must be pure luck. ;D

It never happened to me and would like that to happen.  I just hope that no one would ask me to give it back.  But if ever they message me then I will just sent it back to them since it is not really mine.  But that would be an amazing thing to happen but that would be so rare.

I do not think that someone will message you to sent it back to them.  It is totally impossible as he only knows the bitcoin address not your email address.  But in case that it is your friend or someone you have transacted before then it could be possible.

We all wanted to happen that to us with a good amount of bitcoin.  If that happens then it must be pure luck. ;D
Yeah you really can't send a message to the guy you accidentally sent Bitcoin to. If you somehow do manage to message them, chances are they won't return. That's why you should always double check the address you are sending Bitcoin to, before you send it.

Yeah it would be great to receive a amount of bitcoins for free without doing anything, so far I haven't received a single penny in charity and even in future I don't think its possible.

No, I did not received bitcoin randomly. If this happens then maybe I would consider it as a loan if its a big amount and then I will use it in trading and then when I earn enough, I will send back the bitcoin because maybe it was sent wrongly to me and the sender might feel bad because he just lose his bitcoin and maybe its hard-earned so I will send it back. However, if its just small like I will just spent bigger amount in transaction fees by sending it back then I will just keep it.

I think less likely if they get bitcoin randomly. moreover bitcoin address of each person is different. if you type the address of a different one letter only. Your transaction will probably fail dude. I can confirm that a person is very lucky ?

No. If I were to receive Bitcoin randomly I will send it back to the owner if the person somehow get back to me. Anyway, my address is a vanity address, it is very easy to find me. Which in turn also mean that it is very hard for someone to send wrongly to a vanity address.

I once dreamed of receiving 5 Bitcoin in my wallet (the dream specifically pictured Mycelium and my phone) however.

oh wow, i guess you were really lucky about it, as far as i remember i have never received any money out of the accidents because i dont give my btc address to anyone
Sometimes what happen is we put our address in many sites when we even do not remember how many places we have given our address. And some places we might get referrals in sites like faucets and all and hence we get profit every day or weekly and wonder if its free money.

Yeah if they prove that they are the genuine one then we can afford to send them back, as there is no point in having fun with others hard earned money.

But it would be amazing to receive a bitcoin randomly.

there is this thing called base58 checksum which has to be correct for the address and to my knowledge changing one letter of your bitcoin address would make that checksum wrong. so in other words there is no address that only differ in one or two letters so you can accidentally send to a wrong address.

although I would to see your friends address and the similar address to be proven wrong but I doubt that there were small difference between the addresses.

These scenarios or situation is nearly impossible to happen but  i do  heard of  those  bitcoins that have been accidentally transferred to another wallet since the  possibility of commiting mistake is there. We sometimes actually do put a wrong address sometimes or on rare  cases thats why some  would  never expect to recieve bitcoin nowhere.

You were lucky, as such things occur either due to errors in address or by the mistake of the sending entity.
It happens sometimes that people got some small satoshis in their accounts for no reasons.
If the transfer to the purse took place by chance, then maybe it is a virus , for the attempted theft of your money .

Yeah and I think when people were new to bitcoins at that time they have committed that mistake but after spending time with it now people check twice or thrice before sending, so now we cannot expect that miracle will happen.

I have, accidentally due to an advertising scheme of an old bitcoin startup. It's not only me who received the said bitcoin accidentally and that was way back 2015 and if I can recall correctly, it is 0.0001. Also, when the spam attack with dust outputs were made in 2015, I also received an amount of 0.01 accidentally however that was made out of dust outputs so I can't spent them since they are sent on my blockchain wallet.

I have never received a BTC at random, and I never expected it, we should make money by our own ability, do not expect luck. However, congratulations to those who have received BTC in such a way. You must be very happy and happy to have money. It is a blessing, and you should feel happy, although the sender will mistakenly feel sad, but we do not know who they are, so we can not return. enjoy it. :)

How wrong? There's a chance that a typo adress might have been invalid, so transfer did not took place at all.
The randomness can be outruled, there are more adresses than atoms on earth literally.

This probability will be very small if it does not occur from human error in the transaction, regardless of fault of rich people also apply to beginner transactions. I ever had luck like this and there is absolutely no information whatsoever to refund option. I consider this a weakness Bitcoin because all the risk is borne personally.

Sometime ago i had a transaction that i dint know what it were, i thinked it were someone mistake, till i check my anonymous ad and confirm the transaction were a payment from them, anyway, nowadays makes no sense you get btc from others, since each person has a unique adress, soo to you receive any ammount someone were checking your transactions or something.

It happened to me once – I was just opening my wallet when I suddenly saw around 10K–20K satoshi payments arrived in patches at my address up to 0.002BTC. I was going to send them back to the address that sent them to me, but my wallet had gone crazy about the fees due to the huge input data size (it required 0.00126BTC to transfer the 0.002BTC  :P). I couldn't use it, nor send it back. I changed the wallet because of that.

Yeah once i received btc accidently, not a lot just some cents. I have never understand. It was in my coinbase wallet and as message there was something like "please, donate money for my studies, i am poor, bla bla bla, my btc adress: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" I guess the guy was sending cents to people randomly in hope someone really donate something. Well my advice to him if he is reading: if you are poor, start to not send money to people randomly

Never happened to me, hahah.
If that happens, well.. not gonna lie I'll probably keep it, let's be honest.
Love the honesty and I'd likely do the same unless I was somehow contacted and they seemed nice. Wishful thinking someone in BTC being nice I know.

Nope. But that is something to be far from possible of happening, because all Bitcoin Addresses are unique in which you can easily remember the first and last 3 characters of your address and you will immediately notice something is wrong when one of the characters is not right (Well that is my personal technique of knowing my address. The only way I can think of that happening is when the sender is careless about sending Bitcoin to people. What I mean about that is they don't double check the address before confirming it.

I never received, but sometimes I have doubts if I received accidentally because I join many micro paying sites and sometimes I forgot about them, when they send me the money I can't remember from where or why did I receive that.
Some time later thinking about it I remember and I reach to the conclusion I didn't receive money randomly. But I don't complain about it, I don't want to receive others money for mistaken.

If we're talking about more than like 0.10 BTC, I'd make an effort to find the mistake, but anything less than that, I wouldn't worry about it personally.

I did get random 0.0002 Bitcoins a few times almost instantly when I created my wallet and adress,  I still do not know why it was.sent or who even did it, but I dont really care since its a few cents.

That 0.002 is a smaller amount amount the sender will not need them to get back in their account and you also have not to send them back because if someone will send them from an exchange then you will send that money to a wrng address as exchanges use multiple addresses.

This is a very rare case and I haven't experienced it yet. And if you will think about it, our bitcoin addresses are unique and it's impossible for a sender to do a mistake to send it to another address without even knowing the real owner of that address. Well I want to experience it too but I know it is not going to happen to me.

Yeah.

Once I received like 0.00001 BTC in my wallet for no reason.

But soon I realised it was blockchain spam because the guy who sent it was advertising a gambling site or something like that... Can't remember the specifics.

They send small transactions to every address that is used, thus having cheap advertising.

Not really.
I've had Bitcoin sent to me through various Bitcoin exchanges when I placed a sell within the order book and different amounts of Bitcoin show up every week or so. Bitcoin is just the type of thing that allows us to set and forget when making a little bit of money on the side.
I've looked through people's Blockchain transactions and noticed a bunch of small amounts was being brought in from people all over the world and I'm sure that they didn't know them. Bitcoin is a very strange program that allows people to give away to charity addresses while staying anon.

Precisely, the vast majority of people it is sometimes difficult to know where they can get exactly what they get. In this case it is a question of the address of the bitcoin, where sometimes we rush or not check back on our btc addresses. So sometimes the BTC is supposed to enter into our wallet, be forfeited due to our carelessness. One of the things that could help us to remember the address of the btc is to see 3 numbers/letters that are on the front and back of our btc addresses.

I think that is an accidental wallet transfer and it is not intentional well the person to receive something like this was consider lucky well it never happens to me and I thought it can not happen in every aspect but seeing guys like you claiming they are getting random bitcoins are amazing, I think the side where the bitcoin come from are the ones that are having a problem, or they just copy paste multiple BTC address and never had check on them.

Never. Because bitcoin addresses has too much numbers and letters in it. It also has some big and small letters in it. So there is 0.0000001% in your entire life to receive random bitcoin to send it to your account. Thats my opinion. And mostly bitcoin users tend to use copy and pasting addresses in sending bitcoin.

Accidentally and Randomly are two very different scenarios. The first implies that you weren't supposed to receive the coin to begin with.

I just received some coin randomly last week. I got a about BTC0.01 in a referral bonus for someone who just opened a Coinbase account. The really random part is that I don't know how the person is that I "referred". They must have gotten my referral link from an old post or from a friend!

Getting BTC0.3 randomly is wild if it happened recently, not so much if it happened years ago. Did this actually happen to you or is it an example?

Indeed I will be very happy if I receive bitcoin accidentally obviously I don't think that gonna happen because of how bitcoin is being transacted from one wallet to another I.e after transfer some ex-changer request for hashcode of the transaction.

I wouldn’t take liberties like that with someone else’s money. Besides what if you lose instead of win?
Technically the money is yours now because its in your wallet but if you have any sense of morals you should return it. That money could have been for an important purpose and they may not have more. Even if they do have plenty more that’s no excuse. The concept though is sort of fun to think about.

This could happened like 2% out of 100 if you can see your bitcoin address it's like a hell of mix numbers and letter .,
So almost impossible to get a randomly bitcoin that you can receive but can happen when they already know your address ..,
When your sending bitcoin to others ahahah I know your very careful placing where it will be sent so like other they more careful to send it to right destination.,So just earn a bitcoin and stop hoping that you will receive bitcoin one day,,
But Goodluck.

But it does happen sometimes, I mean, if you have had a transaction with someone a long time ago, then he accidentally copied your bitcoin wallet and pasted it on the "sending" address, then that is how things happen, when you are accidentally received some random bitcoin from somebody, though just like you, I've never experience something like this since I started earning bitcoin last year.

You're lucky if you are going to receive some from somebody, especially if it is a big amount of bitcoin like 1-2 bitcoin, or even more.

The second time happened on a gambling site when I made a deposit(0.02btc) my balance came in but it was doubled I was surprised and double checked my transaction history just to make sure but I didn't used the extra balance I just wait for their support to notice it so they could deduct it from my remaining balance.

Its has happened to me in the case of Fiat, in which I had to return but dont know if I will be able to do same if the owner can find a way to reach me though, I can then consider it.

Dont expect too much out of this situation because these would happen on slim chances since we do know people do seldom make mistakes on transfering bitcoin on other wallets.Same here i didnt expect too much that a certain transfer would mistakenly come to my wallet with decent amounts.I would be happy for sure and i would not give it back to the owner haha since its his own mistake to make wrong transfers.

I have not received bitcoin accidentally but if by mistake I received some bitcoin in my wallet I will have to return it to the owner I.e it may be a wrong transaction from someone else. I think we should be exhibit trust and honesty to ourselves.

I do not believe what you say, although it is a humanitarian act. Bitcoin is a virtual currency, it's free and does not have any definite information about transactions, we can not know for sure who the person who sent it to us, so pay For the owner is an impossible thing. Maybe you will be lucky to get some cash, but I myself do not want that to happen, I do not want to receive money from other people if I do not do anything for them.

How I wish it happens, but ever since I have found my way into bitcoin, I have never receive any free deposit any amount I receive, there is always a source of it either prior to the receipt or after it. Aside attack because I have heard about that where you copy an address to send to but you are sending to another address, I dont think anyone can willingly make such mistake to send huge amount to another address. So, for those hoping including myself, you need to wait a little longer.

I knew friends sending some btc accidentally on wrong address, regret hits him hard, so better make sure whenever sending btc,be sure to send it on the right address, it is fine if were the receiver if not better double check first.I don't if there were some instances if we can ask the address to return the btc,but I know this would be hard.

I don't receive bitcoin accidentally or randomly because that is seems impossible for me because how can a person send bitcoin randomly without having any issues, I mean the address or bitcoin addresses are so different and unique and just a small space or wrong character that has been changed in the bitcoin address will be invalid and that is why it is impossible to received bitcoin randomly.

Indeed this could be an impossible if indeed you have never felt how to get BTC for free or how you send the wrong addres with BTC. For there is no man in this world who never make mistakes, sometimes things can be the cause of someone wrong in sending the BTC is they do copy addres recklessly when they are going to do shipping BTC. Yeah indeed it's very silly, stupid or unreasonable. But the thing I had ever experienced and I get free BTC 0.15

I experienced it on a pay day on signature campaign I thought that the amount given to me is doubled or wrong. So I don't think of other reason of a big payment because on that day my salary should 0.0075 only but I accepted 0.0175 then I thought It is just a mistake but then I realized  the every end of the month there is a bonus which was actually happened that day. So when I get to know that I become positive to do more on posting because there is always a bonus every end of a month.
