A community burned one times too many now resorting to calling everything they see a scam is unhealthy. We all want proof in the form of GH/s and trusted community members getting their hands on these but don't you think it's a little god damn early to yell scam?

It's clear no one is going to go and pre-order without proof. A website and a render of a box doesn't enthuse me either but I'll wait before I pass judgement.

We see those thread every weeks since Avalon shipped. They all turned out to be a scam.

That's generally what happens when you make a machine that prints money and has to be paid for through an anonymous currency.

But Avalon are not magicians, there're going to be plenty of other ASICs from other companies.

Unknown/nobody makes a post claiming stuff, gets laughed out of the building? Very healthy. It has nothing to do with "being burned" many times or few times, it's the correct attitude.

Proof first. No proof? Scam. There's no judgement to reserve. Promise of proof is not proof. Talking well is not proof. First post is proof or whole thing is a scam.

 Dear customers,

we have got many support requests
with the same questions and reproaches.
So we decided to take statement.

1.) We will publish in the next days pictures
  from the pcb, chip etc.

2.) Our domain was registered at the 23th march.
At february we took our page online on a static ip,
which was given to choosen people. Mostly for
test purposes. The webpage was hosted on a htpc
in our office, it was no problem due the low traffic.

3.) We hired for two of our scripts austrian programmers,
this is why we have some german words in our source code.

Dear customer,

we are about to get unlocked for the bitcointalk, we putted us in the
whitelist but nobody has reacted on it.
One of our employees has post 4 answers and we are about to get the 4
hours ontime to be allowed
to post something.

The pictures will be with something on it that shows that the pictures
are definitly made by us.

We are accepting pre-order because of the financial aspect, that is why
we can not accept refunds,
we must calculate everything and ordering the components by order for
up to 1000 orders.

Our product is not cheap, but the price is suitable. We have a
contractor in china which will
produce our main components. So it is possible for us to offer a unit
for 999$.

With best regards,

Your CedarTec Team.

the whitelist is so bitcointalk staff have proff of they are legal?

They have a video now read in English, but with a German accent, but the call of 'Yalla' in the background at the start is a nice touch as is the effort in the GUI. Shame they don't focus on the product aside from the red and green lights, but they're so purtty...

The video looks interesting. Still not convinced - but this at least isn't a quick pump and dump kind of scam. Unfortunately the video doesn't really show much of the hardware - it is a bit dark, can see power cables and stuff - but no asics on the board or anything yet.

Anybody care to do some digging in the video? Anybody see what the pool is they are using? Can we confirm the mining was actually done with the pool or something?

The fans and vents all looked photo shopped onto the case! Each of the two small fans appear to be cut and pastes of each other!!

If they had of put half of much effort into to te video as they did their website they might be a bit more believable.

Seriously - you sent how much money developing these ASIC chips and you can get a decent video camera or make an effort to shoot something does doesn't look like a 3yo is holding the camera and manually focusing??

Title: Re: New ASIC Cedartec

So, obviously these photos are shopped:
https://i.imgur.com/RFQdsf4.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/OhOzeaY.jpg

Please note how conveniently the cellphone blocks the view of the place where the chips where photoshopped onto the board. However, the tenth chip should be visible in that picture. It's not there.

https://i.imgur.com/r7aaFVF.jpg

Can anyone recognize the board? To me, it looks like some old-ass board with an RJ45 jack (bottom right) glued on. The golden connector next to the RJ45 jack looks like a TV antenna connector. The socket on the top left looks similar to a PC motherboard power socket. Maybe it's from a TV cable box?

Also the chip on his finger is far smaller than those on the board in relative size!

Aaaaaand he's erased the branding on the chip above the gold wifi aerial in the second pic. The first has thick bold white lettering, the second, vanished, like magic!

Leaving nothing but the same slither of black repeated many times over the surface of the chip. Amateur.

From their index page:

Quote
CEDARTEC was founded 2010 in Lebanon,
with the aim to develop and produce affordable
quality goods with high standards.
A long time we have thought about what our first product
could be, the decision was taken, finally, on a SHA-256 ASIC
product, influenced by the very positive development of the electronic currency "Bitcoin" which we want to support.
Quote
After 2 years of development time, we are sure to release and ship our first product in few weeks to our customers, so we have put our webpage online and finally started to accept orders.
We limited our product "CT-80", which we release for our customers, to 1000 units. Every device is working with 10 built-in chips working at a processing speed of 80 GH/s with a maximum power consumption of 200 watt.

2 years ago nobody was even using FPGA let alone thinking of ASIC.
But these guys from the Lebanon had a sixt sense on what will be and that they would have to start with ASIC development in 2010.

I doubt they are real.

Boy are the people who order this thing going to be disappointed when they receive their unit.

Bitcoin requires a double hash of SHA256. It needs to do SHA256(SHA256(n)) not SHA256(n).
