When i connect to your pool, welcome message is from ckpool. Is there anything i have to worry about or should i connect with ckpool directly rather to your pool, where i can get more from there.

Can some experienced miners please explain and give suggestion to me, what should i do continue with this pool or go to ckpool

ckpool is the name of SOFTWARE. People confuse that with kano's ckpool and my solo ckpool. This pool does not direct its hashes to either of our pools; it simply uses my software.

The biggest problem is they do NOT pay. I threw a s7 on their pool for about a week. Still waiting on .05 btc to be paid. Support is non existent. Use caution is all I can say.

Can you give the link to view your code for pools, Can we edit that as we wish or do you have some type of license for the script.

Check the signature for -ck and I believe you will find a link to a posting that contains the links for the pool software.

Agreed.  Changes to formatting, colors, etc certainly do not constitute changing your code in any significant or meaningful way.  Taking your name off the copyright footers is just a dick move by the pool operators.

Hey OP, how about you do the right thing and give credit where it is due?  Also, how about you actually explain your issues with making payment, instead of just giving some BS excuse and promises they will be resolved in a few days?

Blatantly claiming credit for code you didn't write and not properly paying out your miners.  Not exactly a good way to introduce yourselves to the community.

"GB" is short for GainBitcoin, a company which has difficulty with maths when selling cloud mining contracts, as I point out here. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1440600.0)

Their use of MLM to sell contracts is reminiscent of BitClub Network, from whom they steal layout, text and approach and now further copy with their own pool.
They may or may not mine themselves in China with some S9's.
The are owned by "Mark Lee" from Singapore who has had various Bitcoin enterprises in India and a long term relationship (if they are not the same person) with Amit Bhardwaj/Kumar, of late unlamented HighKart (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=227853) fame.
 

That was an interesting thread to read, tmfp.  I love how it's always the newbie accounts coming the defense of whoever is being called out.... The thing is, these guys really do have a ton of hardware pointed to their pool - at last check it's over 30PH.  Either they own the hardware themselves (probably purchased from the cloud mining scams they ran) or have somehow convinced around 2% of the world's hardware to point their way.

Obviously these guys are using ckpool underneath the covers.  Unfortunately, they've completely removed the footer references to the authors of the software, and have instead put their own copyright claims to it.  That's just a dick move.

Yeah, there is mining going on, but who it belongs to and how many people have been sold shares in it is another matter.

Not as professional as BCN's vids of Genesis' Verne Global setup with BitClub signs draped over it, but...

What would bug me, if I had any exposure to GB, is the potential insecurity of their main asset, that farm out in the wilds of China.
I get the feeling that it could just vanish overnight and there wouldn't be Jack that a bunch of Indian guys a couple of thousand miles away could do about it.
That's if they own any of it, of course.

Mainly from the MLM aspect, things like

The concentration on crypto newbies as the client base, recruited by old hands in MLM selling.
Various MLM teams around the world formed to sell the "passive income" angle, with a touch of cool innovation and a "get in on the ground floor" hook.
BCN pimps were heavily hinting at 10% per month ROI in the early days, just like Gain do, despite math.
10% a month is a deal clincher number.
Then there's the S.O.P. of false testimonials and social media posturing as "educators", while actual information is biased more to the intricacies of "binary weak legs" and other MLM ephemera rather than mining data or details.
And as you point out, one post newbie shill posts and attacks on critics, another standard tactic from marketeer orientated operations..

And specifically re: mining pool, reluctance to pay third party miners and manual payment processing.

Which leads me to a non miner question; why would a miner invite other miners into their pool?
Presumably for the money and something to do with black arts things called "luck" and "difficulty"?
Also a bit of dick measuring "look at how big mine is?", to impress the ladies cloudmining punters?

And why would a miner go to a specific pool like GB or BCP? Because it's cheap? Surely there's a risk of them just running away with the reward?

I see the similarities... you were comparing GB to BCN and GB pool to BC pool.

I certainly do not believe the math they present - especially the completely unrealistic promised returns - and the MLM crap is just another way to scam people.  Build your network and reap the rewards (as long as you aren't on the bottom of the pyramid).

What they both do is something that very few other cloud mining operations have done: provide "proof" of mining.  Now, I put the word proof in quotes because there's really no way to associate the cloud hashing contracts with the hardware mining on their pools.  For example, I can't buy my "cloud hardware" and see the miner UI that shows my username, password and pool to which the hardware is connected.  I just have to place my trust in the provider to actually have the hardware they claim they do to support any contract I buy.  That's not going to happen.  I own my hardware, thank you very much.

I run my own pool (have for about a year now), and ran my own p2pool nodes for a couple years prior.  On my pool, you, the miner, control the payouts.  Sure, I set minimum values that can be withdrawn (0.001BTC) but that's to prevent you losing too much of your payout to fees, and also to prevent you from trying to withdraw dust.  There's nothing I have to do manually to ensure your bitcoins get sent to you.  You set the controls, and decide whether you want to withdraw your coins manually, or set a threshold where they will be sent to you automatically.

I don't trust these guys because they claim copyright to work that is clearly not their own.  I don't trust them because they have payout issues.  The payouts are controlled completely by them and are supposedly run on a daily basis... which has not worked and they've manually executed some payment transactions claiming all is good.  I don't trust the BS claims of ROI.  There's obviously a lot of hardware mining on the pool... that much is certain.

Been three days, still no payment. Just use caution. Or mine with kano, johnny, bitminter or even slush. All of which are reputable.


EDIT: 10/24/16 I have received my payout.

I have to say I was skeptical in the beginning. Tried the pool for 4 days now and all my payments has been done promptly every day.
The pool is new and needs some adjustments and work. Transparency is a must, and pool leader board is missing, but according to pool operator its a matter of time..
Pool luck has been very well those 4 days I have been working at the pool :)
I hope it continues in the same direction. Good to see yet another non chinese pool running -ck pool software.

0.09% pool fee sounds great but home many users are in each of you pools what sort of return will I get if I join in with you  and will the daily payout limit be change if the price of bitcoins change.

Has anyone received a payout from here? 

I'm over the .01 threshold and i've been waiting 3 days for a payout.
I moved my miners elsewhere until this gets resolved.

When I first started on this pool they were supposedly in beta mode, so payment took a while. They seem to have gotten it together. I just received a payout this morning. I would suggest giving it another day. If you don't receive payout, email the manager that is on the home page. From my personal experience they seem  to be fairly receptive. Good luck!

Are you still mining here?  If so, are your payouts coming everyday?

I only have 3 s7s running. To reduce my variance I have them set to different pools. Because of this I'm not passing the 0.01 threshold daily. It is every 2 days for me.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe you guys support a hard fork in favor of bitcoin unlimited?

If this is true, I am not sure why anyone would want to mine on your pool...unless they believe in bitcoin Jesus

Well, I pointed some units to GBminers not long before the new year just to give it a try. So far what I see in my wallet corresponds my calculations and yes, i'm very familiar with their interface as I've been mining at kano's pool for 6 months now. Some ppl here wanted feedback so
IMHO:
1 They pay
2 So far luck is on their side (the real amount of mined blocks are slightly above expected amount with their hashrate), but this may change each and every next moment as at any other pool
3 When you change your payout wallet they stop payouts until you contact support. Not a word about that anywhere, but when I contacted Sanjay, it was a matter of 2 hours to normalize payouts.
4 Interface is a clone of kano pool.
5 Sanjay Goswami seems to be the only person you can contact

Would I advise anyone to mine here? Decide for yourself. No obvious disadvantages, but not too much advantages as well.

I wouldn't mine here for the simple fact that they stole Kano's website and took his copyright off of it.
They are free to use the front-end and back as it is public open-source, but you don't scrape the creator/authors copyright off of it and claim it's your own.
That's just punk-ass thievery, IMO.  :P

Regardless of whether wmabern received a free miner, his statement is exactly right, and these scumbags were called out on the first page of this thread by both Kano and myself.  These guys have blatantly ripped off kano and ck's work.  They've been called into question about their association with MLM scammers.

If they are related to MLM I have been told that ck is working with MLM.

Which would mean that this is more of a ck vs Kano issue.

Now I only know one thing ck and Kano have split up.

If you claim it as your own without acknowledging the authors then its theft.

They took the code which is legal.

But they then labeled it incorrectly.

When you take open source code you need to tell people that is what you are using.

Or at the very least tell people it is modified open source code.

But as I said it is difficult to see the split between ck and Kano play out.

The problem, tubexc, is in that little footer.  The licensing of ckpool clearly gives the right to use.  However, the usage of the code does not give the user the right to claim credit for it - especially in the form of a copyright.  By claiming a copyright, you are claiming you have created the work.  These guys most certainly did not create the work - ck and kano did.

I also suggest you take a look at the GPLv3, under which ckpool code is licensed.  In a nutshell, you must leave intact any copyrights.

So, these guys have wrongly taken credit for work they did not do, and have violated the license of the underlying code by removing the appropriate copyrights.

Phil this pool has nothing to do with ck/kano split. The MLM scam referenced there is BitClub pool not this one.

These guys are just using ckpool (by -ck) and ckdb (by kano) which is perfectly fine as its open source, but then they have taken kano's web front end to the db and removed all reference to him from the web code and replaced it with their own.

That being said, it appears the only web page left or that they used from kano's code is http://gbminers.com/index.php?k=blocks which you can compare to https://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks

If even the THOUGHT of giving me an Avalon entered Kano's head - which I'm pretty positive it NEVER did - then I would be that much farther along in my process of obtaining one in the not too distant future. But that is the thing fantasies are made from.

(I've pulled my three old S7's out of hibernation to heat a couple rooms in the front of the house. Those join my four S8's - even though the S9's are in a room by themselves only heating the outdoor air.)

All I did was stand up for Kano's rights as a developer to not have his work copied then claimed as being the their own work. There are only a few things I hate worse than a thief.  >:(

I would stand up for anyone's rights. You don' have be "powerful", wealthy, or have some pull of some sort. All anyone must do is be in the right to get my support. Kano is right to be pissed off GBminers at the way they procured his copyrighted and very valuable product. I think it is amazing that such a well-done and quality piece of software is out there as open-sources.
All anyone has to do to use it is to give credit to the developer you put their blood, swaeet and tears into making such a quality product.
All the SOB's had to do was LEAVE Kano's copyright mark alone and all would be fine. Instead these people blatantly replaced the valid copyright with their OWN worthless and meaningless copyright.

That makes me ILL.

Hello Miners,

has anyone else mined with GBminers ? They seem to have a fair amount of hash power, but lots of reports of scams and non payment.

They are using kano's code and rebadged it.  Their support is non existent and some reports of payouts not happening.

I threw a miner onto it and reached the 0.01 BTC payout threshold, but no payment so I've stopped mining with them.

Just like to hear if anyone has been paid out recently with GBMiners ?

Blocktrail shows them solving the blocks, yet they didn't credit their miners.

They took credit for code they didn't write... not too much of a stretch to think they might take blocks that don't belong to them as well.

You all are welcome to join my pool... not only has it been around for a couple years, but it's also paid every miner for every block solved.  Oh, and there are bonuses and promotions as well that come from MY pocket.

A new website look was added yesterday, these blocks show up on the new site but the old one was running during the time of them being solved.
I doubt anyone was ever paid for their grind on these blocks.

My user login from the old site wasn't moved onto the new site and I'm assuming I'll never see my .01 coin that they owe me.

Time to retag the subject line for better SEO and work on taking the code and coin thieves down.

I've waited a few days to see if they were going to move over the old account info to the new site's database. They never have. So, I created a login with my email and same user name from the old site. No account balance shows, no previous activity under my info. During their website change they stole the blocks above from their users. They didn't move over any user information to the new site, trashing all previous activity.
GBminers are scums and thieves. I would avoid them at all cost. 

Just read some feedback all smell fishy.

Nope my old account info was never restored, nor was I ever given my block rewards before, during or after the website layout change. The software they changed to, looks the same as ViaBTC. Plus the 8 blocks that were hit by them, during the change, were never paid to the pool.
