As you may know, the main concern we have is the network security. Low hashrate may lead to various attacks. That is why we are working on PoA (proof of activity), to make DigitalNote network the most secure crypto network ever! But, as you may know PoA consist of two elements and one is still CryptoNight proof of work. The second one is the new PoA block.
PoA = 2 blocks "working together": PoW+"Block-from-deposits".
So with PoA we still need a strong PoW element to make it really secure.
At the same time, while PoW is a great way to secure, it is also the great way to waste energy. But we want to be environment-friendly and secure at the same time.
As you may know Monero, is the CryptoNote network with the highest hashrate - about 30 MH/s now. That is huge, but, imagine, how much energy it uses. Lots of energy. Really lots of energy. Why not use it in different ways, not just for securing Monero network?
This summer we were working on merged mining - XDN+XMR.
"Merged mining" is the process of allowing two different crypto currencies based on the same algorithm to be mined simultaneously.
XMR and XDN have the same ASIC resistant CryptoNight algo, and we will use XMR hashrate to improve XDN network and will improve energy efficiency ratio for both XMR and XDN.
We will introduce XMR+XDN Merged mining. So users who are mining Monero will be able to mine XDN at the same time with the same computing power and receive both XMR and XDN block rewards.
Merged mining hardfork will be released next week Oct, 24 - Oct, 30. Get ready.


We were not working on merged mining from scratch. There is one CryptoNote coin that has already introduced Merged Mining, called FantomCoin. It was abandoned by developers, having great potential. We could not reach FantomCoin developers to speak about FantomCoin development and Merged mining. FantomCoin is totally abandoned. But it helped us to make XDN merged mining. We started our experiments with FantomCoin and had a great progress. Learned so much from it. We can't just close our eyes and keep going.
We have to pay for our knowledge.
FantomCoin is pretty much outdated, barely working and so on. We will breathe new life into it, it will be reborn under the XDN-project flag, will have network improvements, will have XMR+FCN merged mining, the new wallet, etc.
And we will keep FantomCoin development in future as well.
FantomCoin will remain the "classic" CryptoNote coin with merged mining, with no messages, deposits or PoA.
So our surprise is: we are becoming new FantomCoin developers.

P.S. XDN is our primary priority, we are working on PoA and hopefully, will introduce it in 2017. Before PoA introduction we should deal with improving XDN PoW hashrate to make the first PoA element strong enough.

Will the code for both coins be almost identical after your takeover, or will there be big differences in the two coins? Will FCN be using PoA (proof of activity) in addition to XDN? Is proof of activity going to be exclusively used in XDN and no other coin you develop?

No, source code will not be identical, FCN will have no PoA, PoA is an exclusive XDN feature.
We will make a major FCN update and will develop it as a classic proof of work coin with merged mining (FCN+XMR).
We will release major FCN network improvements, will increase default block size, etc. Later this year we will introduce GUI for FCN.

Will you be setting up and paying for an FCN website and block explorers? Will you be paying for nodes to keep the merged mining running until there is some serious interest from miners?

It's good to have a new dev revive FCN, I hope the improvements make it popular again.

It wont read my old wallet. Is the Linux wallet compatible with the Windows wallet? My backup files have .bin in the name of the 3 files but I see a new wallet of a Windows wallet does not have .bin in the name of the 3 files.

FCN = XMR = cryptonote. Monero folks have not been able to release their own gui in a half a year despite they had an contractor working for them. What are the chances u will deliver the gui within a week? How many people have been involved in the coding process? Do u entirely rely on jaxx?

We were the first devs with GUI for XDN long time ago. There is no problem for us to release FCN GUI. jaxx??

So this week after hardfork we will ask new exchanges to add FCN, because it is a perfect coin for CPU and GPU miners. And we will release XDN source code with merged mining support and will give about 72h before XDN HF. All XDN pools and services are or will be notified.

Default Effective txs median (default block size with no reward penalty) will be 100kb.
And a new type of block with Monero merged mining support.
After 1297000 block there will be reborn of FCN. Old blockchain will continue to the new one, all coin that exists in the current FantomCoin network will keep its existence after the HF.

FantomCoin FCN hashrate = 630kh/s makes it the 2nd largest CryptoNight network after the Monero XMR.

After the XDN HF, in theory, you will be able to mine xmr/xdn/fcn, but this is a pool and/or miner feature, not coin feature.

SimpleWallet 2.0 is broken.
It can't open an old wallet file.

2.
Daemon have problem with a messages.

If you start daemon with --log-level 0 option window is started black with no messages at all.
You can't use set_log 0-2, nothing happens, but set_log 3 works but give a lot of debug output.

If you start daemon without options at all everything is fine.

1. we tested old wallet opening and it was fine. Please, provide more info.
2. set_log is to set log level, there is no problem.

Can you verify that you are trying to load ".keys" file? .keys file should be opened with no problem.
There is no errors or something in fcn daemon. set_log 3 works fine, that's fine. If you will have some issues you will be able to see this issues at set_log 2 level.

No, I try to load a .wallet file, exactly as it was in previous version of the simplewallet, example below.

how to load ".keys" file from fcn simplewallet 2.0 ?. i can't open .wallet file use simplewallet 2.0.

Try copying your wallet files and key file from the old Fantomcoin location to where your new Fantomcoin 2.0 wallet folder is located containing fantomcoind.exe and simplewallet.exe. I think this is the easiest way.

Fantomcoin 2.0 is working with no issues on my end.

To open your old wallet with the new fantomcoin version:

1. Copy your wallet .keys file in the same folder with the FCN simplewallet

May I suggest to get a few DigitalNote as well. They are super cheap at the moment.

Its been about 3 months now and the scammy ass XDN team have basically rebirthed fantom, only to abandon it again, all they wanted was a quick flip.

You will always be scammy, do not announe development then cut all communication and no updates or progress, this is why you were deleted from poloniex, as you are just scammers wanting a quick flip, you are not worthy of a good exchange, all you are worthy of is yobit and ccex, its sad because if you dedicated yourselves you could go a whole lot further, yet all you think about is short term money rather than long term success.

I think, This coin needed professional Dev to develop. Ability sticking and enthusiasm for FCN

U wonder why its abandoned. Fantom crew is known for stealing monero source, why else would FCT be forgotten and left dying.

FCN has a nice GUI wallet, talented devs, a good emission curve and merged mining to hold you over until the price goes up. :)
