Title: Best litecoin pool?
Post by: laptopfreek0 on April 05, 2013, 02:20:11 PM
Was wondering what you guys thought about some of the litecoin pools and what you recommend as the best.

I used to use http://ltc.kattare.com/ but they were getting DDoS'd, or that's what I assume it was when they went down and I couldn't mine, and now I use https://lc.ozcoin.net/ OzCoin pays like PPLNS but a slightly different formula that I don't totally understand but seems to pay pretty well so far.

I would like a LiteCoin pool I can just load up an run on any computer including ones with firewall and stuff.

been using p2pool without much of an issue.
pretty simple

I used ltc.kattare.com too. But they got DDOS, and now I cant connect anymore for some reason. I guess I'll just try another pool. p2pool maybe.

I'm on coinotron, which I can connect to quite easily, but I haven't been able to withdraw my LTC from there today , which worries me a bit..

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?
Post by: aspect on April 06, 2013, 04:20:11 AM
I use litecoinpool.org and coinotron.com as a backup.

Research p2pool. That is a very good solution also as majority of pools are under constant DDoS attacks.

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?

notroll.in is the best, low free and low limit to withdraw.

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?

I've used coinotron and it's good, but I prefer p2pool.

litecoinpool.org is pretty cool. ddos is just been done on all of them, nothing you can really do IMO.

The failover option of cgminer is nice, add a few pools with your preferred payout scheme in case of downtime.

I have been using give-me-ltc and notroll.in as preferred pools.

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?

ltc.kattare.com ; ltcmine.ru  (has English) ; give-me-ltc.com

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?
Post by: ehiv on April 06, 2013, 05:33:03 AM
p2pool.  Switched two days ago and seeing mining rewards flow in with no disconnects/failovers is fantastic.  Now all I have to worry about is my fiber connection.

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?
Post by: blaabjerg on April 06, 2013, 05:35:40 AM
I'll throw in another vote for p2pool, it works like a charm. I just set up my own p2pool (http://norpool.mine.bz), feel free to give it a spin if you want to get a feel for how it works (or keep using it for that matter). Keep in mind that you'll have to keep mining for 24-36 hours to get your fair share, so don't get discouraged by low payouts at first.

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?
Post by: ehiv on April 06, 2013, 05:38:08 AM
Confirmation of the initial low-payout worries. If you've never mined on PPLNS pools, it can be a bit nerve-wracking at first (as little to no payments are received).

Been using coinotron, no big issues.  The site itself yesterday wasn't accessible for a little bit but nothing bad since.

(It's pay per share.)

notroll.in has a very good DDoS protection, so it stays up most of the time.

personally, I like litecoinpool.org

I have been using Coinotron for long time but now server seems overloaded.

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?
Post by: Oshero on April 07, 2013, 06:28:50 AM
All servers are getting DDOS'd right now, it seems.

The group that was DDOSing MtGox to game BTC price seems to have set their sights on Litecoin.

Given the immaturity of Litecoin, DDOSing it will have a greater effect than what they've had with bitcoin.
They might drive the price down further than they intended... I hope they stop soon.

I've been using coinotron but the website is often lagging :(

Best strategy is to use p2pool i guess.

Also, the min "no fee" withdraw at coinotron is 10LTC, which can take some times ...

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?

Are anyone getting their LTC from Coinotron at the moment? I reached the APT 5-6 hours ago, and still nothing.. :-/

Title: Re: Best litecoin pool?
Post by: hipsterbeebop on April 07, 2013, 10:12:52 AM

I used http://ltc.kattare.com/ to mine a few fairly quickly (about two days per coin), but was concerned about a really high stale rate of about 15% to 20%. So I tried https://notroll.in/ to see how it compared.  After three days, I am still at around 0.6 of a coin, even though my hash rate seems the same.

I can't access https://notroll.in ATM either--I understand there's a DDoS involved but my miner seems to be working fine.

FWIW, once I've finished mining this current coin, I'll be going back to http://ltc.kattare.com/

Also FWIW, any litecoins I mine will be converted to BTC!

YMMV!

I've been using https://lc.ozcoin.net/ for a few months now and they have been pretty stable. They appear to have been hit in the latest round of DDoS attacks but came back up just a few hours later.

I'm using wemineltc right now.
No idea of legitimacy, so I used a new account/pw with them and am testing right now.

Doesn't appear to be awful.
They have stratum. :3 Makes me happy.

Just started getting into mining and finally wrapped my brain around all of it to push forward and find some LTC pools. Just started with NoTroll.in and Ozcoin to see what happens in a few days. Any new updates with LTC pools? I have several mining stations up mostly running cpu's as they are pretty old so putting those to the LTC pools but do you think its worth putting the faster Mining stations on BTC at the moment or is BTC a lost cause for a GPU pulling 160-200 MH/s?

I'm using ltcmine.ru.
It is simple and stable.

Same here ...
PPS but with a bearable fee (2.5%) ...
No minimum amount for withdrawal and no withdrawal fee neither. Mined coins are moved each hour on the account from which you can withdraw them.

Also I like the minimalist interface.

As I don't have a full time mining computer and tend to regularly (a few times a day) stop mining to do others things, PPLNS on other pools was killing my income.

ltcmine.ru better than litecoinpool?

Well, probably quite similar ... except that the last few time I tried to register to litecoinpool, I got refused (their policy is to refuse new users if their share of the global hash power exceed 25% I think).
Now that many people are returning to LTC, I think registering there should not be a problem anymore.

EDIT: ha, not able to register. They still refuse new users :(

multipool.in if you don't want to use p2pool or coinotron. No fees at all. Donations are obviously highly encouraged by the pool operator but are not required. Plus the multiport for scrypt mining is pretty interesting...

I would let wemineltc.com (closing on 20% of network hash rate) get time to finish dropping some of their users, they are now too big to safely keep everyone mining there. They hold a large majority of the networks hashrate and are scaling down still or rather claim to be scaling down. Coinotron (About 13%) is on the verge of doing the same I think. If give-me-ltc.com(About 12%) grows past 4.8gh/s then it will fall into that category also, but are the safest in my opinion for the network and reliability based on feedback I have read.

http://BlockEater.com (http://BlockEater.com) is a good litecoin pool

Its smaller than litecoinpool.org and the other heavyweights but it provides regular payouts as its a PPS based pool. Payments are guaranteed.
