XMD is a cryptonote fork with some minor improvements. Development and improvements are ongoing and focus around the code and implementation of the cryptonote protocol.
Currently our dev team focuses on deployment scripts, bugs in the compilation and services around XMD, like pools, games, faucets etc.

I am very happy I managed to set it up and it works, and compiled all those wallets and even setup a pool for it that I am mining in it.
Roadmap is to get more people to mine and use it to figure out more on how things work.
If it gets to an exchange great! or I ll make my own exchange.
So, roadmap :

1.Create an easy deployment script for the pool

2.Built a service similar to chainradar for the coin

3.Built an exchange , where you send some other altcoin and you receive back XMD at a fixed minimum price

4.Hopefully will get noticed and some exchange will get it like poloniex

5.Faucet

6.Some casino games

If you will relaunch, you dont need to resync daemon so no one will throw their hash/electricity to something useless

no, i mean, i deleted the blockchain from the pool daemon and let it reach the highest block, works ok now. not sure for how long! this short block time is killing the server i think.

i could do an ICO where i get people to join a wordpress system or slack, but only like 1000 people max, premine 2% and distribute to them 1%  and instruct them never to sell less than 1$ or something, what do you think? but supply will be something less obviously.

Please no ICO, keep it simple. Just start at a higher difficulty and maybe shorten the difficulty adjust time to prevent this crazy instamining (hundreds of blocks per minute is a bit much and will be a forkfest).

looks like the seeds are unable to sync to the pool.. i am resetting the seeds now

not sure why this is happenning, if anyone knows , help.

I have 4 seeds. those seeds are just the coindaemon running and are hardocded in the seed section in the program.

then I made a pool. the pool needs the daemon, the wallet for the pool and the pool software.
it looks like the pool daemon after sometime of mining is always ahead of the seeds, and this makes the wallet stuck in some block.

the solution is to reboot seeds, remove blockchain from pool daemon, and reset redis cache.  then everything continues from the block it was stuck (miners lose balance up to that point though)
is this because the network is small and the pool is kind of forking the coin?

Everything is working now, I think it had to do with pool being mis-configured and showing the wrong blockchain height.

All , note that I have not relaunced the coin yet. I keep correcting errors still, your mining helps but you dont have to mine and loss of coins is possible. there will be official announcement when i relaunch here.
since it looks stabler now , might as well let it be, but for the pool i cannot guarantee, i might for example delete 1000 blocks to revert back, or reset all payments when it is stuck again.

I want to have faucet software, pool software, and a basic game all available in the coins repo before launch, so getting there :)
the idea is to have a simple deployment script. for example if you want to create a pool in a vps, you run a single command.

just worked during the weekend to make it better. I keep recompiling to resolve all issues. dev is still here and this coin will be up.  i have increased difficulty and reduced amount of coins. just fixing some issues that will prevent rogue blockchains.

Unfortunately yes, first launch millions are totally worthless. seeds are up but on other ports as i am doing some tests with various difficulties and genesis blocks. I am also changing the public key, not sure why most cryptonote coins use the same !
people watching this thread will have a chance for an early start as this will be the first place to announce when the pool is up again a few hours earlier.

Relaunch will not be today. will probably be in the weekend. I am currently testing the pool and creating some deployment scripts.
I will aim on having a few pools working around for launch, so i want to make it easy for people to create pools. (one click installer - sort off)

3.changed things in the code to make this thing compile on all platforms as the latest fork was a bit buggy!

5.solved visual studio problem with boost 1.55 etc

7.created a seed deployment script so that I can create pools with one click in Azure (with full recompile)
8.played around with settings and did some test mines - i am currently on the 5th version of the blockchain. currently trying 200seconds difficulty target and 16million coins.
9.changed workflow for easy deployment - currently to generate a new genesis block, recompile on all platforms and bring up the seeds and the main pool takes me about 20 minutes - great for testing or new coins :)
10.Promotion - I already have some very high traffic bitcoin oriented websites and twitter accounts, will create some more websites that pull news to drive traffic for the launch date.


to do :

1.create a pool deployment script. currently someone would have to start ubuntu, then download & run simplewallet to generate a wallet, then run a single command to do the rest. i want to eliminate the creation of wallet step.
2.continue pool mining tests to make sure funds are not lost, pool is not stuck etc. I am aiming to find a configuration where people can mine for at least 10 days before it becomes very difficult, trying to find a balance. the first launch was killed by the pool really and the fast block intervals.
3.create faucet script so that people can create faucets with one click on digital ocean or azure.
5. need to think about premining. a 2% sounds great but on the other hand why.. i ll just keep it free, maybe i ll keep whatever blocks i manually premine before the launch. this costs me nothing, is just for fun dont want to be another quick profit coin.
6.try to keep control of the miners on my repo , cpu/gpu whatever.
7.at least one exchange script (one click install again) Like a website where you send another altcoin an you receive xmd back. i want this to be available to all to operate.
8.Way to control the price as much as possible. the above step is one of the steps before the public exchanges.
9.forum on the wordpress site.
10.Open to sugestions -publicly on this thread. cant think of anything else, what else would you like to see ready during launch? remember this a one man show, but all this work i am doing and this automation i am building could be reused as i am having all opensource on github.

Got everything compiled on Linux for the daemon and wallet. Linux wallet requires GUI  :P

It can be worth as there have been cryptonote based coins pumped in all recent months. I will not let this coin go away like this with other words I will have an eye as it may be good surprisingly. I am interested to see the improvements which dev said are made. Waiting for it to hit some exchange soon.

I have applied for poloniex.
Other exchanges require money for listing.
Note that I have not premined anything for this coin, so I only have about 60-80 blocks I premined myself manually in the pool + pool commisions. There are other people here that have been mining with KH/s that might have better interest to be listed in the exchange than me. Sorry, I have not premined this coin. I cannot hand out XMD , and definitely will not spend BTC or other money on it. I am already paying for servers to run it. If other participants in the network want to have added value in the coin to raise the price in the exchange better donate or purchase those services advertised by you and others themselves

Just to be clear and answer many private message questions,

the plan was to relaunch this coin after the first unsuccessful launches. (where the supply was billions)
Many people are using it now though and i have contacted many services to list it and exchanges, so it will stay as is.
As long as something out of my control is not happening, your coins are safe in your wallets as I am not re-releasing as this will get many people mining it for days upset.

As mentioned earlier, I have not premined the coin, so dont offer me paid services or bounties in XMD or any other currency as I am not paying anyone anything. I am not running a scam or an ICO, I just did this for fun and to learn.

I have some expenses that might affect the future of this coin though. I am running 4 nodes in Azure, with my Azure allowance, and the pool. If this coin is not in the exchange in like a month, I am not going to just waste those resources for nothing. So if you, the miners or the community, want to contribute, you can offer to run some nodes to support the network 24/7. If you have a spare ubuntu 14 machine just run this : https://github.com/upggr/xmd-seed  and forward ports 63666 and 63667. then give me the ip or DNS to add it in the coin and recompile everything so the coin can work even if my resources are down. (it will run now of course too, will just get flaky)
If you have no idea on how to run a seed, donate to dev or someone else that can do it. it would cost like 5$ a month to run a node in digital ocean or similar services.
for the pool similar case, i have made a tutorial on github on how to run a pool yourself and again will cost about 5-10$ (and there is already an unofficial pool running so we are ok with that.
Just want to make sure people are not disappointed and to assure people the funds are safe, but this comes with some responsibility as we need more people involved to make this totally decentralized. I am just one person.

It is not me that I am giving the value to the coin and I did not premine coins. it is all those previous forks that people work on it, my work bringing it online (even for fun), all those people mining it, all those "investors" that  would buy it, and all those extra services around it and around every other coin that give the value.
You cannot deny that if all those miners sell those coins at no less than 1$ + limited supply by the day is on an exchange will drive the price up.
How intrinsic value is defined in virtual coins, commodities and money is another conversation for some scam coin white paper.

Dev,  what are your expectations for this project, is irt just a learning excercise, or are you looking to develop your plans?

I always wanted to make a coin and all services around it, so yes, thats a learning exercise. the thing is that once is out, as with all coins, if the dev has not premined coins, it goes out of the devs control. thats the point of decentralized coins.
this project now ties with me only through my nodes really, but with the extra pools running as nodes and the network power, my nodes are not even needed anymore.
also there is my project on github and everyone is welcome to participate, fork etc.

Yo , i almost had only bad experiences mining 2 algo with the dual miner , only eth and decr are working normal together , i also tried with pascal and etc , but no success ,  i also tried mining xmd and eth with 2 different miners but half of the time only 1 miner was working proper .

Maybe a bit difficult to get the support / vote at exchanger (eg, c-CEX, Poloniex) if there is no promotion / marketing :)

Just noticed this thread, and remind me that I still have both wallet in my computer, should remove it to clean up space.

I think XMD is not scam, but dev has no plan to listed it. This is more like a testing platform, and dev want someone mine for his coin in order to test the coin.

let this good coin be traded at Bittrex or Poloniex, they are both good exchanges which the traded volumes are good and sustainable.
