Santiment's being built on Ethereum. That's why the presale is strictly in Ether.
Starting supply depends on amount raised, but will be between 10-15 million regardless.
Presale investors are guaranteed tokens at a better rate (54% more) regardless of the specific number of tokens at launch.

I liked the design of the application. The project seems to have been properly prepared in the presentation. But is there a special case of this project that is distinct from others?
Because they are such projects and already existing applications in the market. I did not fully understand that part because you said it was game and trade in promotion.
Is it a game in the application, or do we have a centralized system for games? I did not quite solve it.

Are you kidding? You just posted some announcement threads and already want to start presale in 3 days. The topic still has not been studied, nor potential investors, nor trolls. And queries very large - minimum: $40,000, maximum: $120,000. You are too hasty. And too greedy.

Fundamentally, Santiment is a two-sided market place.

To traders it offers trading tools and the chance to win SNT... for free. That's where the game comes in. The tools have utility, but the crypto-games are how you get SNT. If many people play this game to win SNT, they will produce a huge data-set on the aggregate level.

For strategic investors and larger traders Santiment offers this aggregate data on crypto-market sentiment and emotion to enhance decision making. Since this information can't be found anywhere else, we expect large investors to value this data very highly.

As the smart contract defines the rules and the rules  are - if the money aren’t collected, it can be refunded by using the function refund() or even by simply sending 0.001 ETH (it will return this additional 0.001 ETH too)"

With regards to the team members' profiles, they do list their linkedin profiles on the website. The founder even lists his own personal website on it. Perhaps you can visit http://www.santiment.net/ to have a look? Don't think it can get anymore legit than linkedin profiles. Hope the above helps to address your concerns.

The name seem to be well-thought. Some of the founders seem to be Russian. In Russian "santiment" would literally mean "one hundredth part of policeman" ;D

Thanks for this. I have read the smart contract .sol file (first time I have seen a Solidity code - well its less scary than I thought :)). It seems to be good (though I didnt really check for bugs).

But the fact is - the only protection is - it refunds if the minimum requested funds (4000 Ether) are not collected... Nothing else. Escrow is still needed to control the money, and release them in steps, according to goals reached. Otherwise nothing prevents developers from just running away with the money. 40k-120k USD is an amount good enough for doing that. How we can make sure this wont happen?

Where and how would you collect that data? Those large investors should be sure the information you provide is actually inherited from an analysis of real-world data, but not just taken out of thin air!

We understand your concerns, but for the moment we believe our security precautions are sufficient. We are incorporated. 'Running with money' is not an option for us.

Our medium account has a similar trail. We're quite public, and legally incorporated.


Firstly, from the crypto-financial games. This is collected directly from our games and integrated exchange data.
Second, from sentiment data sources from across the internet. Think forums, reddits, everywhere relevant.
Then analyzed via machine-learning to produce something intelligible.
The mark of the 'reality' of the data is it's utility. If it works, we have something real. If it doesn't it won't be worth very much.
The bulk of this process will be open source. Our algorithims will not be.

we can all see the contract, sure we could all see THEDAO one too, but their were exploits (possibly on purpose) that the community was not trained to see and did not see :/   this is same situation, and honestly , ALL reputable ETH smart contracts get audited, some like 3 times, its a big part of them nowadays, with projects that want to be taking seriously even sometimes getting a big name to do the audit (like asking Vitalik himself)

When you buy in the Presale, you're buying SNT with a 54% bonus over crowdsale participants.
 
These tokens are distributed at the time of crowdsale completion.

For example, if a participant contributed $10,000 in the presale and $10,000 in the crowdsale, they would receive the following: (10,000 x 1.54) + (10,000 x 1) = $25,540 worth of Santiment Network Tokens.

As you can see, the Presale participants have a major advantage.

Looks like Ethereum traders community is much less skeptical than this one. There seem to be several very big investors, most probably big traders already appointed by the project lead. The rest are small fish, just attracted by the FOMO (looking at the pace of funding, its hard to resist investing now ;D).

This project indeed could be interesting, but I would avoid investing myself, just because it targets a field I am really knowledgeable at.

I expect FOMO investors to fill the remaining 800 Ether in half-an-hour max.

EDIT: oh, and its GONE (12,000 Ether)  ;D. That was fast! Many people with too much money eager to spend them ;D

Iconomi has invested santiment, but only 2000 eth, if the ico goes big, its market cap won't go very high, every investment is risky, therefore we need to due diligence.

2000 is not very big, but please notice that it's ~16.67% of presale.

Santiment ICO will have limits! 500-1500btc. So it will be cheap ICO and will be sold fast.
With capitalisation of [500-1500btc + presale ~155btc (12k ETH) = only 655-1655btc], it will be very atractive.
With low cap token can go x10 in value, it's hard to do with high cap.
My tip for people who don't have presale shares is to buy ICO 1 second after crowdsale start.

Its too early to advise people to buy the ICO, unless you are heavily invested in Presale, and now want to attract as much people as you can, so they buy ICO at much less attractive price ::).

I just take the decision has made by the iconomi team about measurement for this project. Golem project is really successful project just take two months and polo already added them into their exchange site.

I think is left for the developers to show us what they have install with the first funding received, if they can't show good product and their readiness before the next ICO and I think investors will overlook this project. Having a success pre-ICO doesn't mean guarantee anything

So that everyone knows, we're aiming to do the token sale on June 30th.

With the voting finally done, the minimum cap is 15,000 ETH. The maximum is 45,000 ETH.

Update on the Token Sale and the Alpha.

Yes, our key channels are going to be other enterprises, especially exchanges and asset management platforms. We are aiming to be the major market data infrastructure in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

Presale holders received full gains, as promised, although about 50% of them voted to give up their bonus to help keep the maximium cap lower. We are very thankful to have the community that we do.

The crowdsale is closed to US citizens, but it sounds like Santiment is just going to block US IP addresses, which can be circumvented by a proxy pretty easily. Does anyone know if they are doing more to keep US citizens from ignoring the terms and investing anyway?

"Due to legal requirements, U.S participants are not allowed. IP addresses from the U.S will be blocked and we cannot allow any confirmed US persons to participate in the crowdsale."

If one were to use a proxy or a VPN he could easily get around that restriction. I'm wondering if anyone is aware of anything else that Santiment might be doing to verify the identity of its investors, like restricting access to tokens until residency outside of the US can be verified, for example.

The pre-sale is my worry, I think the team raise close to 10k Ethers and the price of Ethers was very low then, so the presale investor may decided to start taking profit once the price hit market and crash the price the way SONM pre-sale investors are doing. Again I don't think the team has the capacity of raised revenue of 55000 Ethers at the current price in revenue in 3 years. There are so many competing applications coming on the scene

We've processed the data and were amazed at how many of our community members joined in. In total there were almost 750 entries to the community whitelist. WOW. This created a problem... the sum total of everyone's 'maximum' entry overbooked the whole cap! We're happy that the distribution is wide, but we must ensure there is some for our Cofound.it partners, so we employed the following solution:

 

1. Community whitelist 'minimum' amounts are guaranteed. If your maximum was less than 10 ETH, this also remains the same.

2. Community whitelist 'maximum' amounts are scaled down to 1.2x of your minimum, this applies to everyone with a max of more than 10 ETH.

For example, if you have specified a min of 20 ETH and max of 30 ETH, the max ETH will be scaled to 24 ETH.
 

3. The minimum entry for the token sale is 0.5 ETH. A few community whitelist entries have lower amounts, they are the only exceptions.

4. In total, the community whitelist has been portioned 75% of the token sale, as promised.

5. Any whitelisted amount unclaimed in the first 24 hours (the community portion of the sale) will pass to the Cofound.it portion for them to claim.

6. Anything unclaimed by Cofound.it in the second 24 hours (the Cofound.it portion of the sale) will pass to the Public token sale, which will begin at the 48 hour mark.

I think you can't move the tokens for 7 days, so even a hacker can't. Once they are free to move, you'll need to have the fastest fingers. I suggest you find out the exact time the SAN tokens can be moved and prepare.

Also I'm wondering what is the project's opinion on the blockchain baby steps from the Thomson Reuters', they already invested in several startups and how will the project will adopt to the situation  if giants like Thomson Reuters or Bloomberg will decide to join from their side to cryptoworld.

Do you guys think that SAN will be able to be acquired at a reasonable price when it hits the exchanges?  My concern is that 75% of tokens were sold to the SAN slack community and its likely that these will be the people that hold for the long term.   And those of us who were in the CFI priority pass sale basically didn't have a chance as the remainder sold out in seconds (hopefully CFI puts some kind of limits in place in the future).  So basically, you have a project that raised only a modest amount and therefore the current market cap is reasonable, if not low and its likely that most of the people who did buy SAN are long term holders.  I'm hoping to acquire some SAN at no more than 2x ico price; is that wishful thinking?

there was a presale for 18% of the tokens back in February or so and these guys bought in when 1 ETH was like $20 and they got a 54% discount compared to the ICO price. So, there will be some cashing out as these guys are already up 10x or so.

It isn't compromised, there have just been a surge of phishing attacks setting up fake sites that look identical through MEW.  Mostly being spread through slackbots.  ALWAYS use bookmarks to ensure the URL is correct.

They set only   45,000 ETH hardcap, while bancor and tezos much more.  So Santiment get very little fraction what bancor and tezos get.

Yes, SAN are shown in Ethplorer.
Nonetheless, Ethplorer only shows tokens for addresses which already made at least a SAN transfer. So if you only contributed to the crowdsale you probably will not be able to see your tokens.

It is not about what they "feel" about certain ICOs, it is about collecting and providing information in one place and in an orderly way. Right now you have to browse X sites, join slacks and what not to do your due diligence. Santiment wants to save you the hassle of doing that.

You guys are nuts! This company quite literally just got started. And this is an insanely cheap price compared to where it's going. Go do a little research, check out the website, the team, are they providing a viable product? etc. etc. If you do you Im pretty sure you'll agree that this is a very good place to put your money. The sky is the limit for this crew! It's not gonna happen overnight though.

Are you serious about the potential growth question and exchange listing, IOTA is one the the selected project in the space that I indeed like but not on most major exchanges like Poloniex. It will involve both machines and humans. In this case, yes, there will be a level of curators ensuring data integrity and also to provide analysis. Users are able to participate at any level, whether just as a consumer of data or a contributor to data collection or even being a curator to name a few.

There are several mechanisms we are exploring with smart contracts and one key component is staking SAN via smart contracts to access a higher level of data. Also, reward systems will also utilize it.

While a decent amount of data will be public, more advanced feeds will require the staking of SAN tokens for access.

Santiment has a really good concept, as there is really a ton of misinformation and manipulation in our precious crypto markets. I just dont really get the use of the SAN token, as I understand users who stake it will get those precious datafeeds right? But how will that be measured? Whales that stake a lot get more datafeeds and people that stake only 1 SAN will only get "one line"?! Would be happy if anyone could explain it a bit to me.

I think everything about SAN is about discipline. As long the team behind the project keep up with a good strategy we can see some nice returns, but mostly on a long time term.

That info can be found on coinmarketcap. Currently it is traded at $1.31 (0.00014024 BTC) and is listed at several exchanges, the most important ones among them with highest trading volume are bitfinex and liqui. But its also traded on ED.

This project looks very nice, like some others, but it seems the token was only raised for their startup, to collect money so they can work on their project. A bit like ICN, now the project is running the token has no further purpose... or am I wrong?

Crypto will benefit from financial analysis tools and data infrastructure that are specifically geared towards its unique traits and Santiment is helping with that.

However, it has very little to show for its high valuation. The app is barely worth mentioning, no whitepaper, and the terms of token sale contract aren't even released? Many blockchain projects do not have working products but I would expect a well done whitepaper from a project with a marketcap this high.

Columbus Capital has sold 600,000 of its Santiment holding for 3,967 eth or an average of 0.0066 eth.

The Santiment tokens were purchased during ICO for 0.001 eth resulting in a profit of 3367 eth, or $2,158,247. 20% of this will be used for buybacks in the next quarter which will be 673.4 eth or $431,649 as of today. (the team originally invested 2000 eth for 2 million SAN tokens, so Pinta will have 2693 eth to reinvest and keep 1.4 million SANs)

We continue to refine our first data feeds in SANbase for public launch. Watch for new detail pages for each project listing that include charts for price and a few other fundamentals, with projects’ development activity (Github commits) and token burn rates coming in the following weeks.

But last month was also about “data crunching”. In December we processed approximately 3TB of Github data using a combined total of 117 days (parallelizing our crunching on dozens of machines), and compiled some very interesting activity datasets for the projects.

We are currently crunching the Ethereum blockchain, where we have more than 200GB of compressed data that we are expanding into a several TB database using more than 10 servers. In addition, one loading process we are running now (which includes some extra blockchain information) might very well expand to 100TB of data. Needless to say, it’s an ongoing process! We hope to complete it in the next several days.

From there we will compile some reports over the data. We also need to further optimize this process, so that we can parallelize the crunching, use 10x more machines, and complete the computations 10x faster.

More updates are coming shortly too… including announcements on the “human” side of the data/insights house (namely, some new bounty programs for community participation)

Just wanted to let you know that we at Santiment are now making all of our historical data on Daily Active Addresses and Dev Activity publicly available for the first time. To our knowledge, this is the most extensive data set on these two metrics.

We think this data can be relevant for traders and investors for several reasons:

• DAA appears to have strong correlation with the token's price, when observed over time.
  
• Dev Activity is gathered all wrong by popular data aggregators, so it becomes a useless metric. We actually had to build a 100% custom method for measuring Dev Activity, so that data can actually make sense.

Santiment offers datafeeds and content streams (including newswires) alongside a regularly updated database of cryptocurrency projects. Its long term goal is to be the market data infrastructure for cryptocurrency and blockchains. I personally liked their platform and also it is good that it is hard capped ICO which adds value to their investors.

The project shows strong development activities. The SANbase beta platform is live and investors can spend/stake SAN tokens for different products. Santiment continues to update its social media with any platform or company developments and they have created an intricate roadmap that shows just where they are in their platform.

I'm disappointed with the progress of the project, especially considering the amount of funds they have collected.
In my opinion even algory.io with few hundrets eth ICO looks relatively better.
Or maybe some function are deeply hidden? If so - I think it is no good.
