Title: ETH mining efficiency 4.1 W / MHS
Post by: blue1984 on April 22, 2017, 05:06:30 PM
Hallo,

System:
6xSAPPHIRE NITRO+ RADEON RX 470 8G
ASRock H81Pro BTC 2.0 Mainboard LGA 1155
Intel Celeron G1610, 2x 2,6GHz
4 GB RAM
Super Flower - Leadex Titanium 1600W Netzteil
Windows 10
Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.1

I measure the power consumption with a calibrated electricity Watt meter

691 Watt / 168,5 MHS

-> 4,1 Watt / MHS

get someone  better efficiency?

That is much better than my undervolte R9 390 based system.

Is this dual mining?

ETH only

Nice setup you got there

I have 1225w and 150Mh/s

my panda miner model 1  did 220 mh for 8 rx 470 4gb  pulled 1020 watts  not as good as yours .

1600w psu a little overkill imo :)

28mhs / card
95w / card

Very nice, if true.

I'm thinking a good undervolt + modded BIOS + titanium PSU running around the 50% mark using 240V power source...

Very good efficiency.

What is cost of your setup?

It is very high efficiency as the speed is fast so it is not very under clocked.

Are you using modded BIOS?

He is , because on stock the 470 8gb nitro+ you won't get 28mhs.

The nitro+ is always the best version for mining in the RX 400 series. He has done some modification but very little as this version of the card sometimes can do 25-26 mhs with stock settings just by changing a bit the memory.

This is the most efficient mining setup I have seen so far in ETH mining here.

Im sure his cards can run 29.5mhs with no problem, but he is probably on 28mhs because of the power efficiency, but then again, raising the mem mhz isn't affecting power usage drastically.

Any idea of how much power a celeron saves over an i3 or an i5?

I have long been obsessed with maximum efficiency over pushing my cards to the max.
To that end I managed to get to 4 W/Mh a long while ago on all my systems, and have also ran systems at 3.9 for a while with even tighter under-volt, but they restarted several times a day.

Same components as you with Gold psu's instead of titanium

I get 160 Mh @ 640W from the wall (actually hovers between 635 W and 640 W as the cards on the fan spin up and down)

Your Move ...

Huh, I bought miner from ZET Technologies (they post sometimes on this forum) and my miner 6x470 4GB (no nitro) has 160MH with just 600W for ETH and 160MH ETH + 900 MH PASCAL on 820W (measured at the wall). Bittawm, now you now why I could let the pandas go :)
Can someone explain that?

About 10 to 15W.

Instead of just bragging about configurations and results, what about sharing some knowledge about how you reached those levels?

Yeah, maybe he can get most out of it by adding additional gpus and dual mine.

How in the world are you attaining that?

I'm assuming he:

underclocked CPU
undervolted CPU
undervolted system RAM
undervolted GPU cores
undervolted GPU RAM
underclocked GPU core
using custom memory straps
overclocked GPU RAM

That about right deadsix ?

Pretty much :)

Impressive efficiency for an AMD setup!, very good!
the expensive PSU helps but the real deal is the NITRO+ with the modded bios and very precise tweaking.
good job!

I can get significantly more efficiency than that but with NVIDIA gpus (that costs 50% more money) so yeah... your setup rocks :) because at the price of your rig, it is almost impossible to have better efficiency than that.

A friend of mine says that i have Power Efficiency TOC hehe, yeah, i am freaking obsessed with mining efficiency, that's why i use NVIDIA cards instead of AMD, and i don give a damn if they cost 50% more because i pay so little on power (and power here is EXPENSIVE!) that i can sleep like a baby, also my flat doesn't have like 40C all day because of the heat of the rigs (i remember when i had like 20 R9 280X here, Oh my, it wasn't the power consumption the problem, it was he HEAT, it was hell!!, even in winter, i had all the windows open, like -2C outside and 32 C inside, insane.

cheers
indtk.

So whats your Ethereum mining efficiency with Nvidia? Lets see if we can top it with AMD :)

the 1600 watt psu is part of his efficency results,  under 50% load hes probably gsining another 50 watts in savings compared to most ppl who run a 1k watt psu

I think it is not that big. With 2% difference, it is about 20W.

I just get 175 MH/s @ 840W from wall (130W per 1070 shown by nvidia-smi) - might get it down another 40-60W but not down to 700W  :o
