I think the most powerful politicians is Donald Trump .

People are too high these days, posting any crap anywhere!!

Everyone has the right to speak there that for him is the most painful in this case perhaps the most important and influential politician in his country needs either support or in some other actions. But I do not think that I won the US election. The new president, Donald Trump is an influential politician. Yes, and it's very difficult to name him successful so far.

The truly powerful ones never need to be elected. And they never leave 'office' either. They're dug in there for life and would prefer it if we knew nothing about them.

Probably Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

I'm Filipino and even I find that much of a stretch. All the other leaders on your list are from countries that are either global powers (US, China, Russia) or major regional players (India, Turkey).

Our country is in no way in league with the others on the list (despite whatever our president might say). We're still pretty much third world and we don't have nukes like India. And so for whatever strong language Duterte might have, his actual influence is limited by our nation's diplomatic, economic and military clout, which is pretty much quite little. The only card he would have up his sleeve would be our geographic location, if it would serve much.

Maybe we can be bumped up to at least Top 20 in a few decades but for now, I think we are still not strong enough.

I think the most powerful politician right now is the one holding his country from out of the world, literally.
Kim Jong Un, you may say he's a dictator but surprise, surprise, there will be an election held in North Korea every 5 years where people should vote for Kim Jong Un, or they can deny voting publicly. We all know what will happen to that guy later.

The most powerful politicians are not politicians at all. Aside from all the conspiracy theories business and big money is what controls politics. Great leaders get elected by having their campaign funded by companies and magnates, just like Hillary's campaign was being funded by Arab sheikhs among others. That's why it's good to have a rich guy in the lead who doesn't need such financial injections and is independent.

Well i agree. He is recently showing prowess even in musics. What i like about presidents are they are not controlled by any government bodies. He may represent a certain party but he is in control not like our previous presidents where his moves are just obviously being dictated by the members of his party.

Lol. Sorry but you have the psychology of a weak man who needs a leader. Both leaders whom you mentioned are dictators. Putin has not only plundered Russia but also undermined its economy. Russians began to live worse it's a fact, and the fact that you do not acknowledge and speak the opposite view says that you are a victim of propaganda.

I think it is Duterte, because he just does what he has to do, he doesn't care if some would say something bad about him.  ;D
 And also he speaks his mind honestly.

He may sound rude and unethical but I admire him because of his honesty.  He is very straight forward and honest which because of that he is loved by Filipinos.  He is not even afraid to rich people and rich country because he has high beliefs in the Philippines.  So for me, it would be putin and duterte.

On my pick of worlds powerful politicians are Trump, Putin, Jinping and Duterte. I think their influence nowadays are very strong and their political powers are recognized all over the world. Their connections to different countries are strong and wide, sometimes being admired by some leaders.

I agree with the list you have there with the exception of Duterte,  he has no global impact at all, his power is only in the Philippines, he has no power outside the country, Jinping is rather very powerful, the same goes for Putin they can do things with disregard to what the Senate or parliament says, Trump however has to answer to the Senate at all times, he has about 40% power thay the entire USA has.

Strange people. How can Putin and Duterte considered influential people. They are both dictators and have power only over drugged by the propaganda of their countries. Even Trump might not be the most influential because he's in the country too many enemies that constantly block his initiatives.

Yes, aside from our Duterte my vote is for the NorKor leader, Kim Jung Un.  I just do not know anything about him but with all what the media reports it seems that he is quite something to be fear of as a leader.  The US is always watching the North Korea leader.  The world is always alarmed whenever the North Korea launches missiles even just to test it.  And if what you said is true that fancy haircut is mandatory for all men on their country, then yes, he is the most powerful.

Some of the biggest right now are all going to be part of the Majority Party, which is obviously in the United States going to be all Republican held things here. So the people are going to have to be Donald Trump (US President), Paul Ryan (Speaker of the House), Mitch McConnell (Senate Majority Leader) which are all highly influential people who are pretty much able to sway a ton in a country.

Maybe not on an individual scale when it comes to the members of congress, but if they're all to work together on something and can get their underlying behind it they can change a lot about a country. Pretty insane to think about if you really just think for a second.

In my understanding the most powerful politician is someone respected and feared all around the world, a bit like Putin. He even managed change his country's laws to be allowed to occupy the position for so long, so he used his position of power to extend his own rule and as a result give himself even more power, and nobody could stop him. Such thing would be normal in a dictatorship, but in a democracy it's terrifying. He's also one of the wealthiest people on the planet and made his wealth while being the president, which tells a lot about the way things are being done in Russia.

For me, it is our president RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE. Many peiple from around the world have heard of his boldness and his tackiness when it come to confronting contradicting characters. May be you should change the title of the topics to who is the most powerful leader in the world, because leader is a universal phrase while politician is just phrase that is subject to time and place.
E.g a powerful politician is the US is not recognized in the UK but a leader can be powerful in his own country and at the same time in the international arena at the same time.

However, I would say that Vladimir Putin is well known and respected all over the world, but Duterte's sphere of influence is mostly limited to the Philippines and the other countries in the South-east Asian region. They were the reasons why sometimes the Rome was called as "the Holy Roman Empire " because popes save the Roman from its fall down. If you measure it by e.g. how many people they are able to control, I'd respond:

I think the most powerful politicians right now is putin, trump and Xi jinping. Based on their economy and military power they are considered as the most powerful persons in the world.

Vladimir Putin, President of Russia
Donald Trump, President of the United States
Abdulaziz al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia
Xi Jinping, the general secretary of China’s Communist Party

I think Putin is the most powerful politician. He has ruled Russia for many years.

The most powerful people are the ones who control the politicians and the media. The likes of George Soros, Koch brothers and some of the saudi royal family.

Well the majority on here are referring to the presidents of the great powers,but surely there must be other very influential politicians in some countries but casually they do not occupy the headlines.

For me, it's always the president/prime minister of the country that they serve. They are the highest ranking leaders in their government and are capable of certain privileges only entitled for them.

If we're speaking of politician, Trump. He has the power to set a lot of different things in motion.

My pick would definitely be Xi Jinping, the current leader of China. I mean look at China's growth on the world stage at the moment, they're basically number two or three, just behind the US and maybe lacking slightly behind Russia. I think China has been able to achieve this growth thanks to Xin Jinping and his no nonsense attitude.

Kim Jong UN. Basically if you have the nuclear power and the threat of using it, you definitely pose a threat in the international community. North Korea has also the military capability that can invade other countries. Though they lack the soft power, they offset it by accumulating a lot of hard power.

He is a strong, intelligent and moderately ambitious politician who does not forget his people, does not give them offense. Russia is a strong and powerful country that is ready to come to the aid of its political allies, proved it many times, and all this became possible under Putin's rule. His country loves and supports, and politicians and newspapers from different countries write and say different things, but this does not mean that everything needs to be trusted 100%.

Ratings from the predominately democrats polls are not what decides whether a politicians is powerful or not and though Trump is not liked by a lot of world leaders around the world, He is the most powerful politician just because he is the leader of the USA.
