Title: Where to store ICO tokens?
Post by: stayhumble on June 09, 2017, 04:58:11 AM
So where can I store ICO tokens that are built on Ethereum ERC20 Tokens

I know of Myetherwallet but its confusing to me.

I know you can send the ErC20 tokens to any Ether wallet, but where would i see the breakdown of how many I have in a wallet?

What confuses you? Myetherwallet is imho one of the easiest usable wallets.

You can see breakdown of your holdings in myetherwallet. If it's not added by myetherwallet you can add it manualy

I do send my ICO token to my trading platform ethereum wallet. I do think this the best thing to do as it makes it easier for me to follow my token earning. Poloniex account is one of the safest account you can have as most of the coins that are at the ICO level will definitely going to be trade at poloniex.

IMHO Myetherwallet is a good choice. If you can find you token there, You can simply manually add it. Just click add token on right menu then punt the ticker, the contracted address and its decimal points usually 8 digits. Also, you can view it in its ethplorer.io

For beginners myetherwalet is more than enough. Bear in mind that your wallet is not actually on their site, their website is just a gateway through which you create a wallet. Therefore you can do the safest thing and use it as a cold storage paper wallet.

I think Ledger Nano-S can hold ETH based tokens, but that's only if you're looking for something more advanced.

Both Ledger Nano S and Trezor work with MyEtherWallet to hold private keys; really the safe way to use any browser based wallet.

Well at first I was really confused on myetherwallet to and I tried to search about something that I don't understand about this wallet,
And also tried to ask my friends and after that I pretty much understand how to set it up how to manually add up some tokens.

i think myetherwallet is the best option for you to send your tokens because i remember with my TIME tokens that already send into myetherwallet too and i don't have any problem with the wallet. maybe you are confusing with the fee because the fee is using different names, right? i think you need to find by yourself how much eth if you convert your gas.

If you are planning to save the coins for the long term then do not risk your coins by storing them in exchanges or online wallet,i think the best and the easiest way to store your coins is myetherwallet ,it is the simplest form of storage by giving the user complete control over your coins.

Myetherwallet is easy to use and easy to understand,,
you just create your wallet there ,, and save the private keys on safest place,,
you can see your token by clicking Show All Tokens button there
so what make you confuse with that ?

I also use MyEtherwallet as it seems the most promising to me but I still need to look into the best and simplest ways to secure the wallet as I saw that there are more and more attacks where keyloggers are used - so probably offline creation and ledger

IMO, myetherwallet is good. If you can't see your tokens in the show all tokens, you have to add the token details. Usually the ICO will have details on how to add or you can contact the developers for instructions. It is actually quite simple and only take 1 minute to add the token.

If you don't want to sell it and just want to hold it for long term myetherwallet.com will be the best wallet to use to store your ERC20 token. first you just need to download the file and save the private key if you want to use it

As long as you can access your private key and support ErC20 tokens you can use it. Like Exodus, Mint etc.

I think MyEtherWallet isn't that hard to use it, you just need to read the guide and ask member here if you find any problem regarding the transaction.

You can see tokens balance of any ether wallet using etherscan website.

hi all, i am a newbie and still having difficulty figuring out myetherwallet (MEW)

please help me with some answers.

1) can I shapeshift/changelly any token directly into my MEW ?
2) even those not listed in MEW (eg. DGB) ?
3) there is only one "Account Address" in MEW, so if i transfer token (eg ETH/REP/DGB) to MEW, all these tokens will use the same address?

Thanks!

You can view the breakdown on etherscan whether you can see it on your wallet or not. In MEW if its not a default token you will need to add the token as a custom token before it will appear.

Hi guys,

I am also using MEW. I have secured MEW using a Keystore file, not a private key. Is that wise?

To make sure I don't lose access to my Wallet, should I have the keystore file on a USB or (for instance) e-mail the keystore file to myself?

I believe you need Ethereum as "gas" to make transactions. I'm not sure how much Ether you need for a normal transaction though.

Myether has the best type of wallet that can store online or offline it's a nice back-up of your storage of ICO token. It's very secured with a security key that can be use to encrypt your wallet in order to view the amount of token you have prior your trade it in the crypto market. Most of them uses myether because it's a trusted wallet and keeping a token is a good choice to do in myether wallet.

You might be confused in regards to different addresses provided for the token. The breakdown is provided in the right hand side menu with two links one is for ether tokens and one is for your all other tokens. There is also a drop down menu when you scroll will show you all the tokens balance.

If it is still confusing for you then you can try out livecoin site for the best possible easy overview. They have home screen with all your tokens listed. The one you own will be shown at the top. You can immediately swap them with other tokens of you wish to do by clicking the desired tokens.

For Beginners:

Any ERC-20 token can be added to your local MEW interface by following these instructions.  Yes. Do it.  ;D  ;D
it is very easy  Beginners or Oldies but Goldies   ;D

1.Go to Ethplorer.io
2.Type in the name of the token, or search to your address and click on the Token's name there.
3.Note the address & decimals of this token.
4.In a new tab, navigate to the "Send Ether & Tokens" page on MyEtherWallet.
5.Unlock your wallet.
6.Click "Add Custom Token" on the right side.
7.Enter the address from Ethplorer.io.
8.Type in what you want to call it - the name or the symbol.
9.Enter the decimals from Ethplorer.io.
10.Click "Save".
You can now send your new token and see it's balance in the sidebar.

27.     that's all. Real easy    ;D  ;D

The most trusted site to store our ICO tokens if it is using an Ethereum contract is the MyEtherWallet(MEW) and if the tokens are in waves contract then used waveswallet.io since this wallets are the most safest one to store our balance with and you should be carefull since there are so many phising attempt scattering and be cautious upon pasting your privatekeys.

Very popular if its a Eth based token then the best way to keep is through myetherwallet. But much better if the devs of that token does have their own supported wallet. That's more trustworthy but MEW is the most popular and I wont store it to any exchange unless I will sell.

Nothing beats a Ledger or a Trezor, but MyEtherWallet is the next best thing. Don't store your private keys online. Print it out and store it somewhere safe. I also keep a copy @ my parents place.

Myetherwallet (MEW) is actually very simple to use. But you have to be very careful of phishing websites acting as MEW and try to scam your private key. Here a guide on MEW.

So where can I store ICO tokens that are built on Ethereum ERC20 Tokens

I know of Myetherwallet but its confusing to me.

I know you can send the ErC20 tokens to any Ether wallet, but where would i see the breakdown of how many I have in a wallet?

If MEW is too complicated for you to understand, try metamask. But if you do not understand it, then I would think, and whether it is worth doing cryptocurrency at all. The Internet is full of instructions and training materials.

2 options: if you have money and own huge a mount of ico token you can store it in a ledger wallet. If its more and you think it is not worth money to spend money for a wallet so store and MEW and use meta mask

Actually the best way is to create a designated wallet if the ICO has it, but if not still Myetherwallet is the best choice since its one of the most used not to mention it is the safest too, if its confusing to you try understanding it because it will only cause you sometime and not your token if you try other wallet that is unsafe but is easy to use it can cause you all of your coins.

You don't really store your coins in myetherwallet, you store it in your Ethereum address which you ACCESS using myetherwallet, not the other way around. You see, myetherwallet only acts as an interface for you to access your true ethereum address. As long as you have your private key you can use different interfaces to access your coins.

I highly suggest you do research and learn more about Ethereum before you even start investing in ICOs.

STOP LETTING YOUR INVESTMENT CONTINUES TO DROP DOWN
SECRETS TO INCREASE 10 - 90 TIMES OF PROPERTY WITH PRE-SALE OF THE VERY FIRST SECURE ICO IN THE WORLD.
After suffering from a heavy losses on ICO investments and Coins trading, I have been researching a new way to increase assets multiple times by finding and buying potential ICO early in the pre-sale period, recently success was Electroneum and Latium X.
Now, I would like to share with you how to make 10 - 100 times your account through Fondo Coin Presale Secured ICO. This Secured Package will help investors to leverage 10 times the initial capital similar to the Margin of an Exchange. But don’t need to worry about becoming zero account.

1. Way to increase 10 times of the investment (80% success rate):
Currently, the pre-sale package is only $ 0.2 / FDC. If you invest $ 100 in a Secured FDC package and get the right to buy more $ 900 with the initial price $ 0.2 for the next six months ($ 1,000 in total). At the Crowdsale phase, the value going to be $ 0.4 / FDC. Depending on market potential at that time, you can sell $ 0.4 (you have $ 2,000) to take profits and pay back $ 900 unpaid for the Exchange. Thus, compared to the original $ 100 in capital, you will earn $ 1,000 as profit. 10 times increase.

This is a great option and I do agree with you here. Hardware wallets like the Nano S are great options to store your coins and tokens in a secure manner. I own a Nano S myself and store some of my coins and tokens(high value) and never faced a single problem which is highly recommend them. Well you can store your ico tokens on your ERC-20 wallets, there is nothing wrong with that. You just need to make sure that all of your coins are not in one place at the same time in case a wallet gets compromised so you always have backup. As long as you secure the wallets properly and don't log into them all of the time you should be safe with your coins.

It is easy. If there are ERC2o tokens, you might have to store it in an ethereum wallet, preferably Myeherwallet, or any other ethereum wallet that accepts ERC20 tokens. If it isn't an ERC20token, sometimes the token type is specified, and you might want to get that specific wallet just for the tokens. If you bought them from any of the exchanges, you can also store them there.

Now you can decide to store up your tokens there until whenever. Or, you can decide to store them up in any of the exchanges they might have been listed on.

I Prefer imToken Because Have Got No Issues With It

Here Are What You Need To Do Before Storing ICO Tokens In ERC20 Compatible Wallets

1. Private keys – This Is where you control your private keys, Always Ensure The Wallet Provides The Option For You To Save Your Private Key.

2. Easy To Use – Good UI ( User Interface for ease of use ).

3. Active development community: This Should Be An Active Community In Which They Communicate With The Users And Usually Update The App/Platform.

4. Security: This Security Feature Might Be Pin Setting Or 2FA ( Google Authenticator )

5. Compatibility: This Wallet Should Be Compatible With Other Devices Such As Windows, mac OS, Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, APK, and IOS.

Conclusion

Always Ensure You Have Your Private Key Saved Offline And Not Online Nor Your Digital Device ( This Should Be Private )

Here Are Recommended Wallet You Can Try Out
1. Jaxx
2. imToken
3. Metamask ( Via Google Chrome Extension Also Ca Be Used On Mobile Device Via Yandex Browser)
4. Ledger Nano S
5. Trezor Wallet

Goodluck  ;)

There are plenty of options for that :
You could use Myetherwallet , where you can have the private key of your wallet and make sure that the website does not store your private key.
Metamask is a good one too , it also protect you against phishing
I can suggest eidoo wallet where you can use it's mobile phone's app too.
There is another good wallet called blue protocol where you can store your erc20 tokens on it and it has a good roadmap if they can catch up.

You should store your ICO tokens in wallets that you control. The project creators will tell you the kind of wallets that they are using for their coins but if they have their own wallets then they will tell people where to get it. Always make sure that you are storing your tokens in wallets which you control the private keys to. If you do not have control of your private keys then you do not have control of your coins.
