I have been waiting for Bitcoin to reach $3000 so that I can sell my Bitcoins, but seems as if it doesn't want to reach that value anytime soon. SHould I sell with the current amount? :-\

You do not have to wait too long. It will be very soon.

It already goes higher than $3700 last May when Japan implemented btc ,the demand for btc were skyrocketed. The pump hype were too fast that day and in the morning it dumps little by little, i'd been watching the price that time suddenly going $2000 .

Let's the time do his job and the patience is your best friend in this case. I am pretty confident that the price of bitcoin has the potential to reach over 3000USD when Segwit2X will be activated. Hopefully, the fee will diminish a little and people will come back to use more for daily transactions!

Even 10.000$ for 1 BTC is cheap, 1 BTC = 1 BTC and it can't be compared to any FIAT currencies.

We use it now in relate to FIAT, this will change when the mass will adopt bitcoin. Less than 1% of total population uses BTC.

no don't be stupid, wait until segwit is activated and then sell, the activation will cause a spike to 3k and above, at least this is possible, then again another dump, and there you sell around the peak and do good profit by buying back cheaper coins

You need money now? If yes, I recomend you should sell and not check price it again, because you will regret after sell it soon ;D. But if you can waiting and hold, the price of BTC can up to $3000-$3500 in next month, need more time and patience ;)

Trading is a very high risk venture and you should not rely on the advise of other traders either to sell or to buy but make your personal decision. Market is going to definitely surpass $3000 very soon may before august. This is my personal analysis and you should not depend on it to make a trading decision!

Just wait to reached that price. Don't lose hope your bitcoin price will pump soon. Bitcoin is unpredictable so who knows today or tommorow this coin will rise at $3000 price per bitcoin.

Just be patient, it is not only you who are expecting it to reach $3000. Some even expects $5,000 and even $10,000 :) As time passed by, bitcoin really appreciates, do something that you enjoy most, youll surprised one day, you bitcoin accumulated to a certain value.

I suppose reaching 3000$ is hard because a lot of people sell just before. In most case it's a better choice to sell just before a big cap like this because passing the cap is really hard. And if the cap is passed, then the price skyrocket, so...

Anyway more you are patient, more you will have opportunities, so wait  :P

First of all this is not right section to post this topic, this section belongs to "altcoins".
Now coming to your query. First question is at what price you bought. Supposingly you bought at $2500 before a month then there isn't any pleasure to sell now. Secondly, make sure you don't assume bitcoin to be any magic which will double your money within days. You need to have patience while investing in it. And don't worry about $3000 if not it near future then it will surely reach there in a month or two. 

I don't know why is it in the Altcoin Discussion, but anyway you shouldn't sell your BTC because it doesn't look like the price is going to fall in the future. And why are you waiting for the $3k to sell? At what price have you bought it? If you need money then sell a part of what you have but you should never sell all your bitcoins.

That's right,just wait for this segwit to happen,save your coin for now,it will be profitable much later
But if you need it right now,i think selling in $2800 is not bad,but then again,i suggest that you just wait a little more

The price of Bitcoin will get pumped if the right amount of hype is going on around the time segwit happens since the people who don’t have Bitcoin is going to have that FOMO feeling. $3,000 is a very short term goal though, the price of Bitcoin right now is nothing compared to what is going to happen in the later years.

That is a decision bestowed upon you considering the amount of profit you are in,if you are waiting for the price to wait for $3000 you already had the chance to sell off at that price before the correction that took place and now if you are determined that you wanted to sell off at that price just wait for some time,it all depends upon how much profit you are in and how much you believe that the price would go up before any major correction.

It went up and past the $3000 mark at least once, not for long, but it was there.  Keep in mind that when trading people don't always see the numbers like that on the exchange buy and sell page.

I think the bitcoin will not reach $3000 in a short time, like one or two month. I think the EHT may grow fater then the bitcoin, so it is better to sell the BTC and buy some ETH. BTW, you should post this thread in the section of the bitcoin, this is the altcoin discussion section. ;D ;D

If it hits $3k, it's only going up from there. I wouldn't recommend selling at 3k.

BTC has force to pull up or down almost entire crypto world..3k is nothing, it is here in our heads like some kind of boundary. Majority now expecting that this is all time highest high. This is wrong, my opinion we  can see 5-6k this year, very easily, after SegWit very possibly. Just stay calmed, it won't be easy, but we are almost there.

Don't stressed yourself waiting. Sold your if you want with the current price. No matter how many people will told you not to sell, I doubt you will do it since you don't have any patience. Right now we are close to $3,000 and just playing around that and yet you are still on the rush.

I agree. That would be a mistake similar to what I made when bitcoin hit $1,400. I thought since it was never that high it can go only down from there, but obviously I was wrong.

Everybody wants to sell at $3000 because that is how high it got already and we forgot to sell then because we thought it was going to $3500 now we want to sell at $3000 because somebody else already did but now it won't reach there because we all want to sell. This + new coins generated will cause a cascading crash and prolonged bear market just like every other time. I'll hold a couple coins just in case I'm wrong but I'm guessing all these newbs will be crying and panic selling in a couple months. Did you really think all these newbs were going to get rich? Get serious.

I'm not going to discourage you to sell your BTC. It's your choice. Perhaps the money you invest in something that will help you earn even more BTC. I do not agree with the position of those who collect their BTC to get rich. They are already rich and can begin the return process.

but i am sure that bitcoin s not going to stay here for a long time. but very soon the price of bitcoin will cross 3000$, may be with in 2 or 3 days. because after that the price has to increase more more and is going to cross 3500$ in the month of July and after that at the end of 2017 it is expected that the price of bitcoin will easily cross 4000$ level. and therefore i am not going to sell my btcoins and still holding it for a long time.

Lol, this is indeed a reality. If you will keep on waiting for a right time to sell bitcoin. It will never come. Bitcoin price will keep on increasing that is for sure in future. If you have made a decent profit and want that money, you better sell it off. Else if money is not needed, it is better to keep your money in bitcoin as it will ultimately grow which does not happens in fiat.

Bitcoin already surged past $3000+ last week and cointelegraph reported that bitcoin price surpassed $4,500 in South Korea as the market’s premium reached an extreme. After that came the correction. I am holding, Id say do the same, it will hit $3000 again in a matter of days/weeks.

I am agree with you that  if the price of bitcoin will not hit 3000$ till that time you wait and do not sell you are good this point and then its price will hit 3000$ you will sell and I am sure you gain more profit with to hold , and I think bitcoin will hit 3000$ at the end of this month or beginning of the next month .

Of course everyone is waiting for that marginal day when bitcoin hit $3000. Well I think he already set his mind selling it at $3000. Others may have the same thought as you. But most of us here believe that bitcoin can go somewhere $4000-$5000 at the end of the month so selling at $3000 will be your lost.

well i do not think that in the end of this month bitcoin will cross $4000-$5000 because the today price of bitcoin is about 2700$ and this month is going to end only a week is remaining, so i think it will be great news that bitcoin cross 3k$ in this month and selling bitcoin at this price (3k$) is very good there is no loss of money on this amount of bitcoin.

It already reached $3k 2 weeks ago and then dropped almost in an hour and very few people could sell their coins at that price. On LBC, you can see the trading rate as 3101.05 USD as of now and even higher but on normal exchanges it is between 2655-2720. After the recent drop to 2200, the market volume also has dropped and people are not sure whether they should invest or keep holding their coins.

Probably you must have missed the chances to sell off your coins when bitcoin has reached your targets of $3000 levels. But from my experiences I like to suggest you not to sell now as it might be leading to deep regrets as bitcoin prices are speculated to have huge levels like $5k and $10k in coming months, better keep holding.

Every user has been waiting to experience $3000, because this has been a long time speculative price when we reached around $2500 in a short. Also the price increase has begun falling to $2000, so $3000 is achievable in a short time period if more investors come into it.

But I think the issue right now is that investor are not fully convinced on bitcoin because of the Segwit2x activation on Aug 1. I personally don't know how will it turn out really. I will have to wait and see if everything will be smooth after that day. So expect a very slow phase, currently its $2700 maybe next month we can see the price to hit $3000 again. I guess we just have to wait and needs a lot of patience.

But what do you think? I'm asking because you are Legendary and thus most likely you know much more than me on the subject.

In my opinion it's safe to invest in bitcoin now because the adoption of it is only rising and we'll see higher prices with bigger adoption in the future.

i have enough bitcoin right now but still im waiting for the $3000 barrier too because i really need that amount in order to purchase a land here in our country. right now it's too close in $3000 but ready for the big drop of the price of bitcoin whales and the market is already ready for the august 1 so maybe 1st week before aug 1 they will gonna do what they need to do in order to prevent their loss. I think read it here somewhere. about the august one maybe increase of prce or decrease we wont know unless it come.

Define what enough Bitcoins are for you -- 5? 10? 100? 1000?

What land are you looking to buy, and what country are you located in?

If you so badly needed Bitcoin to be $3000 or at least close to it, why didn't you cash out nearly 2 weeks ago?

There seems to have an hindrance to cross bitcoin back at $3,000. I've been waiting to see the price of bitcoin to be able to make it again at that price. But this is always happening, after a pump, a crash is happening and back to pump. Again I need to wait for that price and for sure it will be back before this August 1 or after.

For me to avoid that hindrances we should spread the bitcoins good news to people around us particularly at social media even you will not be paid for any bounty. The importance of this is in effect of the price soon for bitcoin not to crash and we will have that $3000 to our inspiration of having success.

That is a good question, having enough bitcoins seems pretty close but you change your mind and think that you can still earn more so there is no enough bitcoins for a people. And I think there is a pump the last day and you miss it, I think that is the highest price of bitcoin before entering August. After this week, the monster dump will visit our friend  bitcoin.

The best thing to do is to wait for now. Reaching your target may be reached within days/weeks from now. July is my speculated month (this year) when Bitcoin will hit the 3000 dollar mark. If you do not need the cash now, you should wait for a little longer. Who knows, you might end up selling for a much higher price than you planned.

If you bought at any price lower $2600 selling now is a wise decision and will earn you profit, I'd suggest always to sell when you are in profit, because doing so will further circulation and keeps a healthy daily volume, what would've happened if all the Bitcoin holders never traded their coins for fiat or even alts? I know it is good to HODL but you really need to do that if by selling you'd lose money.
Some ignorant people might say you should HODL no matter what, I'd say you should sell when you could earn a decent profit.
If you want more profit then you'll have to wait longer, mania phase of price jumping $200 up in over a night seems to be stopped for now.

Man, I wouldn't sell at $3,000. Obviously I can't tell you what to do with your money, and I don't know your current situation - but patience can make you rich in this case.

There is still a lot of possibility that bitcoin prices will increase higher than 3000 $. With patience of course we can get very good results. But we all do not know when it will happen, with analysis and also read bitcoin demand in the market we can know when there is good news that can affect bitcoin. Usually this will all affect the increase in bitcoin prices are quite significant.

If you always sell when you are in profit, then you might lose out on the opportunity to further grow your coins. How do you decide when to buy?
Selling and buying continuously only helps the exchanges make money out of your trades.

The point is that you don't need to sell all your coins at once. If you think the time is right to cash out profits, then it should be done with steps in the range of 10% per time. Let's say the price goes up after you cashed out 10%, you'll then be able to cash out another 10% if you so wish, or you just keep waiting for an ever higher increase. If the price happens to go down not long after you cashed out, you'll get the opportunity to buy back. That's how it goes, or at least, how it should be.

If you end up being a profitable trader, then who cares?

OP, BTC reached to that point in many "other" countries where premium rates were applicable and being used to dominate the markets the way their exchanges wanted to. Still, if you are waiting for it to reach $3k, then I would recommend you to sell a part of your coins at current rates and wait for your target with the remaining ones if you are not in a hurry kind of a situation.

Probably OP is waiting for Bitcoin to reach 3k USD and stay above that price.  We may have experience and witness bitcoin reaching that price but it falls quickly and have not recovered to its peak.  I think we need to wait until the effect of August 1 kicks in.  It will definitely push bitcoin price if the FOMO triggers when Australia citizen and companies starts accepting bitcoins and that August 1 event effect kicks in.  Probably 5k USD would be visible.

Due to in demand of bitcoin I think $3000 dollars were easy to hit for bitcoin. Also holding bitcoin for the following price was good idea because I believe that bitcoin value were raised up.

If they simply deposit FIAT and go straight for the BTC/USD page then they know whether they are buying at this or that rate.  However, most traders funded their accounts awhile back and technically bought in at a much lower rate.  Traders are probably not using the $3000 mark for anything, but as the price rises their actions change.  Trading for us is involved in thirty or more coins at a time, watching volumes and trade signal percentages and half the time, once the smoke has cleared for the day, then we realize the high and low price for the 24 hours.

Yes you are right that bitcoin will hit $3000 very easily because bitcoin is going day to day establishment in case of increasing investors so if the price of bitcoin is up and down never sell their bitcoin because in the becoming months its price will going to increasing and never goes to below so I also suggest that holding bitcoin when its price will not goes to $3000 .

No this summer :) Global crypto bear trend will continue till september. Maybe we can see uptrend waves after summer. I already sold half of my investings + savings in bitcoin anticipating low prices.

Segwit is nearly to approach on us and im so excited on what would be the outcome on this but seems It can tirgger to the price to reach up again for 3000$ since mostly of those speculators speculates that there would be another great stretch when august will arrive. But lets hope that all of our speculation will be true since if that time and implementation will come well we are the lucky profiters on next time around.

The price of Bitcoin is so unpredictable weather it be increase or decrease no one will be know, but all will be happy if the price reach the $3000 or more and I believe that segwit2x is the way that the price will be rise, by this time i will continue to hold my Bitcoin and trust them :)

Just wait.You would have not asked this question if you had seen the previous price history of bitcoin.It has already risen high and fallen down many times.Price fluctuation is not new for bitcoin.Just wai for two more months.After Segwit activation,price would once again start rising.

You may have to wait for a long time, since the price have been stable at $2700, although only $300, but it takes time to arrived

We all waiting for bitcoin to break this price barrier but unfortunately, prices seem to have backslid a few days before the anticipated bitcoin fork that is due on 1st August, maybe a chance for first-time buyers to get on the bitcoin spaceship but I still have high hopes that after the new protocols are implemented we just might have a bitcoin bull run that will see a rapid price rise.

I think it is the better time to buy then, if this is the case. Already sold some of my coins at $2700 and maybe buy some coins back when it hit a good low price. I think it will be pumping at months of october or november, and another ATH at the month of December where it always happen.

Yes it seems that bitcoin prices do not want to reach $ 3,000 in the near future. Moreover, the current price is down to $ 2,400, it will take much longer to be close to $ 3,000. I suggest for now do not sell because the price is down, it will be a loss. It would be better to buy some and hold it until the price goes up, and when the price goes up you can sell. But if I am in your position I will hold my bitcoin until the price reaches $ 3,000. Takes longer time it does not matter because the most important thing for me is profit.

It seems Op in hurry to get cash instead of waiting for bitcoin climb up to $3000, then you will regret in the future when  bitcoin reach over $4000. Yes, traders want to get profits as soon as possible to buy another coin, in order to do that ; you have to divide your funds from the first time as bitcoin price fluctuate a lot these days.

Everyone in the real sense is actually waiting for the price to reach $3000 but it seems rather than the price moving towards that, its rather drifting  away which is is forcing some level of patience on anyone that you just have to wait a little longer which is not even certain that it will be reached anytime soon. I think it will reach $3000 or even more when Segwit come on 1 August. Actually the price of bitcoin is decreasing right now and it's not a good time to sell your bitcoins now. It's better to wait more until the price of bitcoin reach $2800-@2900 per coin.

Might happen, looking the price decreasing rapidly we might soon reach $2000, but not $3000. People who sold at the ath feel relieved and the rest in a short will make panic selling. Majority of people who believe the potential of bitcoin might have started buying more and hold it.

Price touched $2500 few hours back and now again it has started to go down and I think many people have started to sell their coins looking at the downfall in the price so I will wait for the price to go even lower in coming days which will help me in buying more bitcoins at lower price and once it started to rise again will prefer to sell some of my bitcoins to make quick profits.

Well, maybe it will not be long for bitcoin prices to reach that price, if holding bitcoin for a while longer, maybe you can sell it at that time. Well, I remember when I was holding bitcoin, it did seem a long time, but I guess it's a good thing when the price goes up.

I think it is coming close, it is now at $2300, it is dumping now because the people are thinking that the price of bitcoin will going to flop so they sold their bitcoins at $2700. I think after the month of August, bitcoin will be going to pump maybe breaking the wall price of $3000. Maybe we can see $3500 at the last month of 2017.

Yes, the price could be hit definitely. But I don't know when. We are almost end of June so I doubt it can touch this month. But I'm positive that in July we are going to hit that elusive price that we are all been waiting for. Just need patience or our end and for sure it will be like euphoria when this price is touch.

Circle new right that most users already have income a few percent more no regrets did not buy bitcoins before. The fact is that during this time Bitcoin has risen almost 5 times and many people bought for $ 500 or even $ 1000. And today we have 2500 dollars and more.

Yeah and I regret not buying at $250 back in 2013-2014. I could have been rich if I had invested my money there. Ten times richer only if I did buy even just about 10 bitcoins. Now 10 bitcoins are looking like a far away dream that I can't reach for a long time. I need to work hard to get to 10 bitcoins. Oh well, I think nobody did really predict that in 2017 it would reach this high.

My Lord, what a pessimist! In the case if you don't know bitcoin had price 3000$ already and that was three weeks ago. And it's ridiculous that you think that bitcoin never come again to such price. Everything is saying that we will see a new bigger raise in a month after SegWit. I recommend to you to follow the bitcoin's price more often to not skip your "dream point" in it's price again  ;) Good luck!

you do not need to regret ever in present time because you still have good chance to invest your money right now, I am sure that If you will invest money right now you will certainly be happy with your decision and so you have good chance here to get bitcoin and do not regret for the price when t will reach to 5000$ that is very possible in next few months.

I don't think $3000 per bitcoin is that far away. I predict it'll become a reality before the end of 2017.

Yes this price is possibly to achieve in this year and we went so close to it in past few weeks but couldn't go over the line but lets hope that we will see this price in next couple of months and for the same reason I am holding my coins so that I can sell them when it crosses that price.

it already crossed the 3000$ limit. and hope that very soon it will cross that limit again. i do not know why if have decided to sell your bitcoin at that price when it reached to 3000$ in previous time, but i think very soon the price of bitcoin is going to cross that limit again you should wait for some time but i will advise you that if you can hold your bitcoin for some time you should wait for that and hope that you will bet more good profit from you expectation.

You do not need to sell now, I better wait until the end of july and I think in july bitcoin can reach $3000 nobody knows but I am sure in July bitcoin can reach that value or just approach it, let's look forward.

Yes before its too late other prediction bitcoin price in august 1 butcoin will become down and decrease because of what happen gold are down as long as silver too maybe im going to be wait too and sell everything and wait again for the right time to buy. Hoping that it will become $3000 soon

Join the club, I figured by the time price hits $3000 I'd go and do some day trading at least that way I can earn some profit instead of just holding my coins in my wallet. if you all remember when price was somewhat stable around $1200 for a few days? after that it started to rise and rise until now.
For few days now price is stable around $2500 what if it starts to rise from here up to $4000?
I think now is the best opportunity to buy some coins because if it wanted to drop to sub $2000 it would've done it already.

The safest, and in my opinion probably the smartest decision would be sell now.

If you bought in pre-halving then you would have quadrupled your investment or even more in some cases in a short timespan of a year. So even though you missed out on the ATH as an opportunity to sell, you're still getting a decent amount now.

I'd expect pre-UASF a week or so the price will drop dramatically as a result of people panic selling. So therefore, if you're in bitcoin for the long run, then you should sell now, and buy when the price dips down pre-1 August.

I half agree with you. If you want to be super safe while earning at least something, it is advisable for you to sell it now instead of waiting. But in the current market, there is a high potential for the price of the bitcoins to increase around next 2-3 months but also remember that this decision involves a huge amount of risk. Since the market is somehow unpredictable, always give room to the unexpected circumstance. But I strongly believe that this is the best time to buy BTCs and sell it some later time due to the prices being low.

I do think too, we reach $2000 in just a month, so I think the price can pump up too $3000 maybe after the month of August. Also, the bitcoin price always pumps every last quarter of the year, it also happened last year especially at the month of December which is the Christmas day. I think it might pump up too $3500 this December.

It seems to me that the forecast can be even more optimistic. If everything goes as well in the future, then by the new year we will see 4000 - 5000 dollars for bitcoin.

The price is not a signal, it is more like the sign for investors and users if they are doing good. And most of the new people that are new to bitcoin, especially the ones who wants to invest want the price to dump so they can buy now. Also the one's who sold their bitcoins want to buy another coins again for a good profit in the near future.

As the upcoming hard fork is approaching we're all hoping that will be a good outcome to the block chain as well as the value. people are spreading wrong news about 1st August, in fact now it going to happen against bitcoin. bitcoin will continue increase for along time and there are still expectation that the price will cover 3000$ level very soon, i think some people are spreading wrong news about bitcoin price they want people to sell bitcoin in panic so that they can get opportunity to trade bitcoin in low price.

Same here i was waiting for nearly a month now for bitcoin to hit 3000$ and it happened twice but i was able to sell it at the right time. I can assure you that sellimg now wouldn't help you at all and bitcoin sureky has a potential to go $3k. I think there are two alternatives: If there isn't any hardfork, Bitcoin will get power and go up faster than before. If there is a hardfork, Bitcoin can become discredited and that is the worse possible consequence, the price can drop dramastically, but with chances to recover in the future (between the two forks only one can stay wealthy).

I guess its really a psychological barrier for most of us traders or investors. When we see that it hit the price, we cant really stop ourselves to sell. That's only if SegWit has been activated, and no large miners distance themselves from Bitcoin (here I am mainly referring to Bitmain with their contingency plan). If the latter becomes reality, it might initiate a short lasting bear market, but eventually we'll be walking out and move on. I must hower note that I don't think Bitmain will actually do so. To me it sounds more like an empty threat. Jihan once threatened to fork if BU reaches 50% support, but no actions followed....

You can't blame investors as well for not putting cash into the ecosystem. They are greedy person and they want to make sure that they will profit so its gonna be a standstill and a long waiting game. But once they saw that the activation brings positive result to the market, Expect a rush of cash flow. We may see another ETH and the elusive $3000 will be breach and even surpass. We just need a lot patience.

Yes, why can't you wait a little longer? I'm confident that it can be touch but because of many factors it will probably takes months or so before touching it. Yes you are right that time is not to sell your bitcoin because its price will soon hit $3000 and I think its time is to buy more bitcoin, hold to till $3000 and if its price will hit to $3000 then if you sell or more hold, but still now didn't sell btc, yes its also my personally opinion that after segwit its price will low for short time but after its price will start to going to increase and then enjoy its price.

Bitcoin has already hit 3000$ not so long time ago. It didn't keep that price too long and droped back below but this isn't some magic number that couldn't be reached easily.
