Stop spamming the forum. This is normal. Your processor is simply not fast enough to produce a NEW block => someone found it before you = you're just unlucky
ATM the difficulty is already really high...

Yea tried that, redirected port to get more connections (30 now) and still all orphans.

I was having issues with orphaned blocks, but I fixed it, and now I mine a block every 30mins or so

I just found it curious that you get almost all blocks and the rest of the miners get 90% orphans, so I made this thread.

We'll let the other users decide if this thread is worthy or not.

this is just a "curious" question,,,

if someone had over 51% power and used this exploit - would this cause "mined blocks" to become orphans?

I think there's a thread somewhere outlining the impossibility of a single person obtaining and maintaining a %51.

what miner are you using (the client?) and what specs (i know you wrote it in the other thread somewhere)

For the last time:

I downloaded the source from git, i compiled it for ubuntu 10.04, and use the command that is in the first post in the official thread: ./yacoin-qt -gen -genproclimit=16 -addnode=82.211.30.212

I have also a really good connection to internet >1Gbps

Go to console and type listtransactions it will tell you which found blocks are orphan.

Also you can check the "number of transactions" on the overview page, if you have say 5 transactions in there and  0 in the Transactions tab, then you have 5 orphans.

if you have the full valid chain already downloaded then yes it omits them.

You can easily count the non orphan blocks, multiply by 60 and compare with your balance.

Indeed, I think I will let it run for about 3-4 hours and then it will be done for this coin, DAT Orphans, now that I was in time for a coin launch, it fucking oonly gives orphans.

And god knows who even get those blocks if we almost ALL get orphans...
Shitty coin + shitty launch + Orphans = no good...

Desktop (i5 2500k @ 4.3 GHz)
Transaction-count: 83
Regular transactions to other addresses: 5
Mined block transactions: 28
So... 50 orphans

Laptop (i7, first-gen, no idea what model)
Transaction-count: 9
Regular transactions to other addresses: 2
Mined block transactions: 2
So... 5 orphans

In total: 55 orphans, 30 mined blocks. Roughly 2:1 ratio.

I can tell you hashrate is at least part of it because I've been using every computer in the house to mine it. For me the pattern has been the machines with high hashrate have gotten virtually no orphans, the machines with low hashrate all orphans. That's my experience.

I don't think so. We are the only one with a pretty good ratio AND posting on the forum. I'm sure there are many miners that don't bother to argue here...

I have 300kh/s too and i started mining only 1 hour later... And you show pictures about you taking 2 blocks in less than minute and that picture was 4 hours ago.

In 9 hours of mining with 300 khs i get 000000000000 yacoin.

O and Ymer, Linux definately has something to do with it..

DL-ing blockchain on Linux was 5 minutes work, on windows it went for 2 hours.. My two windows laptops have only orphanes and stales, my Linux machine has a lot of blocks

Ymer, than that is the issue.. When we both find a block you are 200ms slower in reporting it.. Because of the short timespan between the blocks it's a combination of network speed and hash speed that makes the difference. Hash speed makes u find blocks faster; network speed makes you report them to other nodes faster.

Only thing that might help is finding nodes near you and add them with addnode option.

I think the problem is low difficulty and shit location of the main node, leaves almost all of us with very high pings, the ones with good pings are getting most of the blocks.

I know, 1000ms = 1 second delay.

I just shutdown the miners, it's not worth at all knowing that I will not get any blocks at this difficulty because it's so low my blocks get too late.

Technically speaking there is no main node, but almost everyone connected him because of the startpost.. If I'm not mistaking a group of miners with low latency could theoretically be at an advantage. So if a few ppl with high hashpower and good latency happen to be close together no one else stands a chance..

I only had a problem after encrypting my wallet [1]. Oh, and I had to copy the peers

runs pretty flawless and the bad words about it are not justified.

I've had the same issue on Windows with BitBar and CNC..

I think in my case it has something to do with the fact that a lot of QT clients are running on my Windows desktop. They all have a number of connections open to the different coin networks. If I do a
Code:
netstat -tan -p tcp
I get a shitload of open connections. Especially if you have uPNP enables this might hog your windows PC and maybe your internet router causing a lot of misery.

May I suggest you reboot your PC, restart your internet router and see how your latency is then?

Also, you might want to spend some time enabling CGminer for YaCoin.. If you are the first to do that, you might get rich ;-)

It sucks I can't do any of that now because I'm at work, I'm only checking my home miners with logmein, I don't want to reboot my router or my miners because if somethig goes wrong my GPU mining will be gone until I'm back from work.

5 orphans & 5 valid blocks after about 4 hours of mining with 3 threads on an i5-3570. gethashespersec shows that I'm hashing at about 100-200kh/s.

I tried cpuminer, but it only hashed about 40kh/s on a much faster CPU. After reading a bit it looks like only the yacoin client can be used to mine ATM.

About 18 hours mining.  I have nothing special other than 3550k using built in miner w/ command line I am at about 45 confirmed blocks w/ about 8 orphans.  I am surprised I am still finding blocks, just did two in the last 2 hours.

My guess is that you guys have something setup wrong.  Just use the QT file loaded up from CMD prompt and set the numbers of threads right.  Same as the instructions on the first YaCoin Page.

About 18 hours mining.  I have nothing special other than 3550k using built in miner w/ command line I am at about 45 confirmed blocks w/ about 8 stales.  I am surprised I am still finding blocks, just did two in the last 2 hours.

Are you in europe?

No, Southwest USA.

Here, I posted this on the other thread.

I have had such great luck following directions on the OP, and I mean a whole lotta luck.

Download Windows files from MEGA.

Unzip

Run QT and let it update.

Close QT

Open up CMD prompt and move to the location of the QT executable using cd command.
Use Command for windows give on OP, modify genproclimit for # of threads. Code Below:
yacoin-qt -gen -genproclimit=1 -addnode=82.211.30.212

Sit back and let it find blocks.

It's really unfortunate that there were/are so many problems with orphans. :(

I started off trying the Windows client but I was getting only orphans and very few at that. So then I started up Linux in VirtualBox and compiled the Yacoin-qt client and ran it with the following command:

Code:
./yacoin-qt -gen -genproclimit=6 -addnode=82.211.30.212

I got a surprising number of blocks and had only a ~10% orphan rate. I don't know why the Linux version seemed to work so much better (and in a VM, too!). As for location, I'm in the US. My ping to the 82.211.30.212 node is 120ms.

Been mining for around 9 hours now. 3 accepted blocks and 3 orphaned blocks, so approximately 1 block every 90 minutes.

That comes out to ~450 coins / day assuming nothing changes.  I would say that is perfectly reasonable.

I get more or less a 5:1 ratio of orphans:generations... is it normal?

Can you please help with some settings?
