Don't trust Bitmain-Cash-wallets they could be back-doored.

To Avoid replay attacks on the Bitcoin network create a new Bitcoin wallet and move your Bitcoins to that wallet AFTER the fork then use your old now empty wallet.dat file with a Bitmain-cash client.

Make encrypted backups of all your wallets new and old before doing anything.

I have no idea... but If I was a betting man I would bet on Bitcoin and the inevitable collapse of the Altcoin markets. 99% of all altcoins are shit coins pumped up by Venture capital financiers.
From what I can tell there are 3 types of people investing in the alt-coin markets. Early Bitcoin inverters who are now millionaires looking to reinvest in crypto markets. Venture capital financiers who don't really care about technology or long term viability (they only care about what looks good on a prospectus so they can raise more money.)    And a few die hard crypto anarchists who just want to watch the world burn. :P

I know that many prominent Bitcoiners have put their weight behind Bitcoin ABC, namely Craig Wright, Roger Ver, Jihan Wu, and maybe even Gavin Andresen with Mike Hearn. I suppose that's good reason to believe in success of Bitcoin Cash and think that Bicoin Cash will replace Bitcoin BIP148, i'm only making conjectures here and hope for the brighter future for Bitcoin.

Thank you for this post. It is very informative and helpful. We really should not panic and stay calm. Panicking will do no help but will only cause stress. I have a question, I have different coins in some exchange sites, is it ok to sell them now to Bitcoin so that I will receive Bitcoin Cash equivalent of that and just buy those coin again after the Segwit2x or just hold it now and wait? Which do you think is better?

This website Bitcoin Talk has been Ddosed many times and has even been hacked at least once.
I would argue its likely to happen again ether before during or after the fork.

There is no reason to panic anymore since we can be sure that BIP91 will be implemented and bitcoin will remains the same. BCC or BCH are to be considered by the exchanges as an altcoin and thus we can be sure that bitcoin will still be the same. We can see the price of bitcoin and it has never wavered and still going up amidst the possible split. There is no more need to change or to convert your btc to dollars or to exchange it to altcoins.  This just shows that starting tomorrow bitcoin will climb up again until finally it will reach 4k$ or above that. There is no need to panic, but let us still be prepared due to the threat of hackers that are going to attack on AUgust 1 according to some rumors.

Thank you for the headsup and its something that is really needed at this time. And I can relate to the issue of PMs because i got as much as three yesterday asking that I click and most funny thing is that its from a brand new account with no post neither with any activity different accounts at that. The day is here and another new day tomorrow might come with several causality, let's be more vigilant.

Because next trend is altcoin have function privacy, anonymous as Monero, Zcash, PIVX, special altcoin algo cryptonight as Monero. In recently, we also know Bitcoin not anonymous 100% as our mean, so next time I think altcoin have function helps UG will increasing.

I really don't do that because it will only end up on nothing. Tomorrow is just another common day as we know in bitcoin community but because of this Segwit and forking thing many are panicking for no reason on the bitcoin they hold, well, as theymos always updating the bitcointalk forum I am glad we don't have to panic as per mentioned in his last post. Tomorrow I will accept what is the decision is and also to all of us not particaipating in the Segwit that's all we can do at that moment in time.

Yeah that is a good explanation about the bitcoin viability and altcoin collapse. I'm pretty sure altcoins are more in danger than bitcoin is really. I wouldn't trust investing my bitcoin into altcoin for at least one to two weeks from now. It's better to keep the bitcoin in wallet with private keys and lock them down with 3D secured passcode. This is the best thing to remember, do not panic when the fork is done because there is nothing to worry about for long term basis because the only happening right now is all about the hype and you can't avoid that hype but you can ignore it. Just take a break from bitcoin and do other things and come back after the month of august and you will see that the forked bitcoin will become worthless (BCC).

my understanding on BCC
1. BCC will come what ever will be happening (Soft Fork or HardFork)
2. It will not impact the Bitcoins
3. It will most probably serve as an altcoin as it will not have enough support initially.

It's not time to sell BTC right now, too much uncertanties with BCC fork.

About the investors, most of them really don't care about the technology behind Bitcoin, for most of them, BTC is only a way to profit if the price climbs up, and if the price goes up, you woul expect a huge dump by some of them.

It seems the price is getting to feel the impact of the few hours left for the activation from the $2900+ back to the $2700+ currently and this post comes to mind because when panic sets in, decisions are made which most times one will end up regretting and this is something everybody must try to avoid at this time. We have hold on for so long, keep holding, few hours left for light at the end of this long tunnel that I cant wait for it to be over.

Last time also it went tip of $3000 and came down yesterday also it went up and now it's normal. My advice also same don't get panic and do any activities next few days just wait and see how the market will run. The price has indeed gone back down and will not exceed 3000 $. But I still believe because if I survive then I will get the BCC from the bitcoin split result. BCC does not yet have a price, but seeing its enthusiasm I am sure I will get more money when doing bitcoin hold in my wallet than selling bitcoin in exchange at this time. Do not let any panic because this can trigger instability of bitcoin prices.

those people who preparing for the fork properly wouldn't feel panic at all . they even would take it as an advantage to make profit on the volatile hours like what currently happening. you can easily grow your bitcoin quickly , and waiting for the result later to make another step. this event just make bitcoin even more beautiful!

Yes, If you already do your homework and secure your coins then no need to panic. And just wait till everything settles down. I'm just too cautious though about BCC specially on how to get it. The price is still good at $2800 and once this hardfork is over, we are going to see another bitcoin milestone. So still hold and see how everything goes.

As the thread title suggests should never get panic, because need to have the patience and trust to face anything. With bitcoin each and every move is hard to predict, so right now looking the scenario the splitting is expected to come into effect without much of negative impacts over the growth of the entire network.

yes your right we need to be calm and dont panic. Everything is gonna be alright. Some bitcoiners made a move by sending negative stories and in an article to force other bitcoin holder to sell their coins now. So that in the near future when btc goes up again they will sell it in a higher price.

We are dealing with an open source software. Everybody has a right to fork an open source software/project. Bitcoin Cash is no different. Today it is Bitcoin Cash and week later it may be something else.  Creating money out of thin air? This goes against fundamental principles of Bitcoin. I don't really ubderstand your point, sorry. Why does it sound like a scam? Bitcoin cash isn't a brand new coin, it's a fork of bitcoin. Meaning you take the original bitcoin source code, modify it to your liking, make improvements, fix some stuff and release.

From what I'm seeing only 5% of network hashrate is being redirected to the new altcoin

no blocks have been found yet ... so no hard fork yet... but with such a low hashrate it could take hours or even days for them to find a block.

You will have two separate blockchains. Hence if you now own BTC after split you will own BTC and BCC. Why does not BCC start with an empty blockchain?

To recap everything thats happened so far today all new blocks are segregated witness blocks because the UASF (User activated soft fork) is now actively preventing non segwit blocks from propagating across the Bitcoin network.
Any attempt to produce a non-segwit block would result in a fork.

In other news...

The alt coin Bitcoin Cash also known as BitcoinABC or BitmainCash is being mined but they don't have anywhere near the amount of hash power everyone thought they would get... At the current hashrate it will take them days to mine a block. I'm assuming more hash power will be directed toward their new coin after the first block is mined/found or they are mining in secret to protect there new chain from attack...

I could think of several reasons why. Good anonimity that is hardly present with bitcoin, accepted on deep web markets, it's prosperous coin that will very likely have nice future and din have issues like Bitcoin. But of course everyone can choose according to his own preferences and interests.

I am not panic but still consider how bitcoin cash will be, maybe after they mine a block, it will be clearer about how much transactions going through their chain. BIP148 UASF already activated with no split and no issue but Bcash split time will on 12:20 UTC today, But it's 02.56 and there is no chain split detected? I want to cash out my free bcash obviously, but still unclear about what happen with it.

Because of this atrocious speed of finding new blocks on the BCC chain it would take ages to get coins out of wallets to any exchange lol. I would crank up the TX fees to the max to get mine confirmed among the first  ;) Perhaps the people who have kept their BTC on supported exchanges are going to get their BCC coins first.

In the latest news, there are reassuring remarks that no split has happened, that everything is fine with bitggin and you can safely carry out transactions. But, apparently, not everything is so calm and good.

What is this website? This website is for warning users if the Bitcoin blockchain has experienced a chain split due to the various fork proposals such as Segwit2x and BIP 148 UASF. If a chain split is detected, there will be a red warning banner at the top of the page stating that a chain split has been detected. Once a chain split has been detected, the status for each node will update with the block height of the most recent split from other nodes and the hash of the block at that height. The site will also warn if a node has fallen behind one of the other nodes and has not split onto a different chain from other node. It will also warn if one of the nodes has recently experienced a blockchain reorganization.

Now everything is clear, bitcoin cash has come, and we can claim, I think this is a good step to make bitcoin in the future.

For today I would not try fate and try to pass and transactions or you can save your coins or not. Maybe nothing happened and there is no fork but that there is a split and it already shows on two exchanges.

I could tell that before August 1 ends that investors and traders took the Fork well because the price is still hovering above the 2700$ level. Which is pretty big for something with a lot of uncertainties, also we saw that before August 1 it has hit around the 2850$ level which tells us that buyers are stocking their Bitcoin in which I assume they did because they want to have more Bitcoin Cash in return.
