I was just commenting this on another thread but I will flesh it out a bit more here. The price SHOULD decline for the next few weeks to few months, start to level off around month 3 or 4, then if the community sees value in it, steadily climb(or it could be pumped up too since it is cheaper to do). So the reason I say that is because the Supply is at an all time high. Imagine if all of a sudden there was double the amount of BTC available. What would happen?The Supply rose by a lot and is too much while the Demand is still the same. So the price very likely and SHOULD fall in the short term(until the demand/supply ratio balances better). Does that make sense? It is a very simplistic view I agree, but one I think we should take in to consideration. You ask whether to buy now or later? Be glad you didn't buy in when it was around 600 USD. Now it is about 280 USD. It should go lower for another few weeks at least. If you really want to buy in, don't buy a lot, becuase you will be holding it for the short term and the mid term at least, at the most you will have to hold for years. That might not be a bad idea, but honestly I don't think there's going to be a lot of demand even then. What might happen is that bch will be the object of some manipulation, i.e., a pump & dump. So I think there could be some profit potential. It's just a question of when. Holding bch for any other reason seems foolish to me. It's just another unnecessary altcoin in a world that has too many as it is. I say don't buy it, just to be safe. I'm not a huge risk taker myself, so I won't be buying any. Considering the market for BCH is far more volatile than BTC and there's a high-ish chance of just losing money right now, I would wait to see where it goes unless, maybe, you're putting in shorts for the altcoin. But you can see that it is down >30% over the past 24 hours, and to me that spells bad news for any coin that is trying to gain a foothold and bad news for any investor who's trying to make money off of gains. When everything is settled, interest in the BCC will fall as well as its course. Therefore, I think that it is not worth buying. This is not the crypto currency, which in the long term will increase in price.

The exchange rates are ranging around BTC0.067 - BTC0.069 right now, and there is a chance that it may decline even further.

Only people with coins on exchanges like HitBTC and Bittrex were able to do that (and even among them, there wasn't much volume). What is the actual use of BCH at the moment other than a speculative investment? Does it serve any purpose for commerce or a store of value? I guess it plays out the vision of the Bitcoin Unlimited folks. In some way, it is a network split, but technically, they are actually just forking off onto another network. It's a speculative investment vehicle like any other altcoin. As an aside: Unless my calculations are wrong, difficulty on Bitcoin Cash just dropped 36%. Like any altcoin, it probably hasn't completed its initial plunge. I'm guessing a lot of people are still hesitant to touch their keys and recover their BCC, but that a lot of them eventually will. It's supported on some big exchanges, and the price makes it worth it. I'm not selling, but I would never buy at these prices. They didn't bother trying too hard to mask it as a speculative coin either. Didn't see any effort to rake in merchants. No visible outreach. It's probably not going to be profitable for a while yet. It can't reach Bitcoin not in value or acceptance, in fact doesn't have anything to do with Bitcoins. For me it's just another altcoin with no perspective that will soon be forgotten. The beauty of the airdrop is that bitcoin holders don't need to have additional risk appetite. We already have private keys that can access coins on both chains. It's really tempting to dump my BCH (because, free money!) but I think there is a very, very tiny chance that it could end up being a major competitor for Bitcoin. I think there is also a decent chance that it will pump hard at some point. Since there is no additional risk, it seems worth it to hold. For now, anyway. Now, the problem with BCH is that so many people are looking at this altcoin as having no real future. When people have this kind of perception there can be a problem. Good thing if there will be a group that can really support the coin and can pump it on a regular basis. As of now, it still has a good value but once it can go down as low as $50 then it can be hard for BCH to easily recover. However, it can have a place in the sea of cryptocurrencies no doubt about that.

Markets are very inefficient. The Bitcoin Cash market is especially inefficient because of the lag in attaining mining profitability (due to the original chain's high difficulty) and resulting network instability. It's also inefficient because major exchanges like Coinbase have not paid out customer BCH, and that won't happen for months. It could take months before we start to see accurate supply/demand shown in the market. Until then (after we can see potential accumulation in the charts), I wouldn't bother touching it. I understand that there are rules when the difficulty will adjust but since the hash rate is variable , we can only approximate when it will be. I do not like the way it appeared out of nowhere with basically a week's notice and I think that Bitcoin with segwit is superior. It's disappointing to me that so many exchanges have it now, but I guess there are a LOT of people with free BCH from the fork last month, so that is a lot of business for those exchanges. It is basically free coins from the fork and if it drops to 0 (or close to) value you could pretend that this coin did not ever exist. But, I strongly advice against going from the relatively stable and predictable bull market of BTC into the uncharted waters of BCH. Sure, there could be a chance that it would be decently valuable but the odds are against it. I'd personally invest any money into other promising altcoins such as XMR that are relatively stable instead of BCH. As TehJoker already said, most people think that BCH is just a clone and thus most people just dump theirs after the fork, and the value will probably just go downhill as time passes. The code is exactly like Bitcoin. Who on earth needs that? It has bigger blocks... but no one transacts on it anyways. And with that one 'fix' the devs tried, they managed to add a bug in mining. Now the miners will get the rewards faster, dumping them on the market. So who would expect that the devs are capable to develop anything else for this coin. If the price should ever tick up, it would just be an incentive for more people to take the effort to dump their coin. What I have seen so far with BCH is just a pump which I am sure was just a manipulated one. When the difficulty is high, almost nobody except ViaBTC is mining it and there is one block found every 2 - 4 hours. Then when the difficulty drops because of the low hash rate, all other miners jump in and rape it for quick profit, with block being found every 2 minutes or so. This is repeating over and over again. And the miners are just selling the easy-mined BCH instantly to buy BTC. It is very obvious to anyone that bitcoin cash has only been created to benefit the miners, this is why bitcoin cash has so little acceptance with the average user of bitcoin, if people actually thought that this was an honest attempt to create a new and better bitcoin then I think more people will use it, but since it is so obvious this is nothing more than a way to get money, most users do not bother with bitcoin cash.I'm pretty sure BCH will just slowly die over time. There was so much money flowing out of Bitcoin that BCH inevitably gained a big share of that, along with LTC. Now that the uncertainty of BTC continues, due to their block size, it would be wise to invest in alternatives, such as BCH and LTC, as they will be there when (if) Bitcoin fails. This of course won't happen 100%, but by beeing invested in LTC and BCH you are hedging yourself against potential losses. Things can go pretty bad if Bitcoin fails and people will look for alternative, even though it probably won't happen, there is always a possibilities. And having BCH is kinda of an insurance in case something like this happens.

What kind of reason is that to buy a coin? You should look at the fundamental of the coin and the value it offers, and no on whether media will cover it. You should invest based on the value the coin is offering to anyone using it, and how that will benefit them. What you're doing is just trading short-term which means you're looking for a quick profit and sell as long as you've made it. This is too short-term thinking and will eventually get you bankrupt. Try to look at the long term, what makes BCH better than BTC and why you think that BCH will be more valued than the original, which has been around 8 years (and not 2 months) and has already proved to be the most popular option out there.

Everyone is just trying to create a fork out of Bitcoin because BTC has a big user base and its the most popular cryptocurrency. They are basically taking advantage of that without offering anything significant of value in return. Non of these forked version offers some good enough to replace BTC, and even if they did, they are unlikely to even surpass BTC. The only candidate that could possible do so is a coin that does something completely different, like Ethereum for example. Ethereum was about to pass BTC at mid 2017 but that didn't happen for only about 8 billion or so. Does that mean it won't happen again? Probably not but we'll never know and only time will tell.

To buy or not to buy, it really depends on you. Everything in the cryptocurrency world has high risks. Some may go up, others may go down. Look at Bitcoin right now, it has reached $10,000 today. Same thing goes to Ethereum, it's now almost $500. BCH is now at $1,600+, and I'm not really surprised of it's surge. Bitcoin Cash being a Bitcoin fork and backed by Roger Ver and Jihan Wu, has the strong backing and thus, can sustain its value in long term. Right now, BCH isn't showing much movement and hence, isn't so good for short term trade but kis a good long term hold without a doubt. Also, BCH marketcap lies in top 10 and hence, the higher chances of the breakout.

As investors, they said that you need to diversity your portfolio so it makes sense to get on board with this so called original Bitcoin now. But if you are looking that it can grow at big as bitcoin then better not put to much expectations about it. It is very easy to see that bitcoin cash is being heavily manipulated by the whales, and you do not really need to be that good at trading to see it, look at any of the other coins that are at the top of the market and you will see that while there is volatility in the market the volatility is nowhere close to what it is experimented in bitcoin cash, so if you are just starting out as a trader it will be a good idea to not trade bitcoin cash. |
