It's time to talk about Florincoin and their flagship product, Alexandria.  Many crypto veterans such as myself have literally been waiting for this product to be developed for years... and we just heard today that the release is just around the corner... Finally!!!

Florincoin is a relatively unknown coin that is on poloniex. It currently has ~7million dollar market capitalization and low volume / liquidity. This means it will move quickly when it does.

From a technical perspective, the price is in OTE zone. There has been significant blood and there are major bagholders who will not sell until the top. The time to buy is NOW.

Double bottom / bull div 0.09% on support. Let's go.

It's definitely hit bottom. There are some bagholders out there so excpect some resistance around 4500 sats. And remember to buy the rumor sell the news. Hopefully it gets pumped to 5000 sats before the release, but I see 4000 sats the new bottom after that. I don't see why this couldn't go to 20k sats if the alexandria product is well done, and starts getting some use. Long term it may go to 30k sats.

Got in around .000013 as soon as the news hit me. Huge upside potential, extremely low risk imo, HODL!

What do you think the timeline is? Is this worth sitting on for the next month? Or is this longer term?

alexandria.io buddy, its a distributed media file storage/sharing platform using IPFS and Bittorrent.

Even at 20x this coin's marketcap will only put it at #50 on CMC. I think it can go higher than 20x with a little adoption.

What we have here folks is a fully functional decentralized youtube. There are other coins striving for this that have a higher marketcap and don't have anything to show for it.

I don't have an iPhone or Android phone, so no interest there.  I don't plan on spending cryptocurrencies out on the town.  I just want a place where I can store, facilitate the transfer of, and purchase other cryptocurrencies for investment opportunities - such as this one.  For that, based on what I read in your link, my Blockchain wallet seems adequate.  I'd love to hear your much more knowledgeable opinion though.

Made some good profit on it tonight. Should I buy it back? I sold at 2350 see that it's back at 1650 sat. Will it gain some strength on short term you think?

Looks like its on its way back to the 1100-1200 satoshi support line, if you're gonna buy back in maybe wait till then. Alternatively put in a good-till-filled buy order in case it dips briefly to 1000 before support kicks back in. I'll probably snap up some myself down there, and hodl till it gets listed on an asian exchange. Going off of the 24h volume tho (80K USD -> 2mil USD), if that peters out and the trading dies down again, probably more likely to drop in addition to that downtrendline after the peak at ~2400. Pretty symettrical

Yep, I was wrong. Looks like after that bump the new support was 1600 - you called it. Then that next bump from earlier and now the support is at 1700-1800. I'm going bullish on this one for the short-long term, especially after reading the latest on the mainthread

I too bought some for fun. Normally, I wouldn't go with someone who gives their predictions and tries to get people on board. That said, I don't feel that is the case here. OP's track record is good and there are people down to help. I consider myself one of them although I certainly don't wield any heavy influence and no individual truly should. And of course, do your own research. Three years of commitment is a big plus for me and the low cap makes it interesting. Who else is in the space? DCT, LBR come to mind and both have much higher caps. LBR despite it's intentions seems a mess to me and I like DCT so this low cost alternative with a committed team seems like a good bet. Finally, I love the communal aspect of such a buy. While chaincoin was a shitty coin that went bust on manipulation, I believe the power of the people in a market that does not exclude anyone can go a long way. Florin on!

Flo is special because its utilizing IPFS (Inter Planetary File Storage) which is one of the most cutting edge things out there right now in the distributed/crypto tech space, aswell as a bittorent layer; additionally the OIP (Open Index Protocol) that the alexandria team is building in house.

We are nowhere near the peak yet.

If you count all the coins of LBRY, which you should do, and not rely on the stats provided by coinmarketcap, you realize that LBRY has a marketcap of approx $170M (with half of the supply being owned by the team - premine). Another fun fact is that Flo/Alexandria is older than LBRY, and has a marketcap of $13M with 0 premine, ico and all of that bullshit. It seems like you can create great products without being a greedy fuck. Not to mention that, as opposed to Flo/Alexandria, you gave to install an application in order to access the LBRY content. Reminds me of the days when Siacoin had a laughable marketcap in comparison with that of Storj, another heavily premined trash.

This is why i bought like a maniac at 800 sat -1000sat many months ago.

What exactly is the "moon" for this particular coin in your opinion? I feel like it has a relatively low coin count and a pretty low market cap right now. I would think that $0.50+ would be possible in the near future. Does that seem possible? Or is the surface of your "moon" above that?

I can't believe why so much people are so euphoric and blind in this crypto scene. I invested in this coin, too. But only with 1% or 1,5%. The potential of this coin looks good.

But... I have asked here three times and there was no answer. The only thing i hear is "to the moon". So i ask again. Is there ANY information from the team when alexandria could be released? The coin stands and falls with this platform or am i wrong?

The last info i have found was from mid 2016. And if the platforms will be released soon it also have to be used. Only because it is a good product it does not automatically mean that people would use it!

Yes, FLO has been a live blockchain since mid 2013. Yes, Alexandria has been in public development since at least mid 2014. Man that sounds ancient in crypto land, doesn't it? They must've been blown past by now by other competitors, right? Turns out nope. I've followed Alexandria and the FLO token very closely since late 2014, here's why I'm still bullish and holding for years:


1) Development has been consistent. There has never been a single period in the past 3 years that I've wondered, "where did ___ go?", "is this thing dead?" If you ask for updates, if you look for the devs - you will find them. They will talk to you. You can see their work.

2) They do not pump or try to be opportunistic with the market with their insider power. Ever. This project has been active through multiple altcoin bubbles, the dev team has never done anything to purposefully take advantage of the market to turn profit, their demeanor has always been the same. They've never lied, nor given unrealistic expectations, nor spent time on fancy infographics instead of code, etc. Arguably this is a bad thing, and they will need to improve a bit on the marketing side of things once they do go fully live, but I'm listing it here because it's a huge reason I have so much confidence that they're in this for the product, and the product comes before profit with these people.

3) Blocktech (the people building Alexandria) started out just using FLO for its features (tx messages) - they had no connection to the FLO team afaik. Over time, the FLO dev team and the Alexandria team have steadily grown closer together and are basically one big happy family these days, collaborating and working together on the whole ecosystem. Watching this evolution over the years has contributed to my confidence that this team is full of workers focused on producing a real product.

4) The product is real. It is tangible. You can use it right now in a sort of alpha/beta state. You can go talk to the devs and easily get invited to help them test new features or even contribute to the project directly. Vaporware is a huge problem in crypto projects - Alexandria is not vapor, and incremental development has been obvious every step of the way.

5) Lack of serious competition. LBRY is the only project that I've seen that has a tangible, usable product which is doing something similar to Alexandria. Every other project claiming to do the same things as Alexandria or LBRY is so far nothing but words and claims. So there are only two real ponies in this race, and this is a discussion for another time but the economics of LBRY's LBC token are not nearly as attractive of an investment as FLO. I do not have nearly the same familiarity/access to the LBRY dev team as I do Alexandria/FLO, so I cannot comment on the development side of things for LBRY. Obviously I do hold some LBC as well.

6) Last I heard, they're going to migrate away from IPFS eventually and use an incentivized storage solution, ie something like FileCoin or Sia. No idea on timeline, but incentivizing the storage part of their back-end will take this to another level.

7) Imogen Heap has published content on it. Ok this is rather minor and old news, but it's pretty neat that major artists are experimenting with it! She published stuff in 2015 and had considered releasing an album on it. She published again a few months ago so she's still using it.



... wrap this all up for consideration and then notice that...

8 ) The marketcap is insanely low. Vaporware projects dwarf this thing. No place to go but up, considering everything above. Easiest fucking hold ever.





Yes I am a FLO whale. Duh. Shit was 200-400 satoshi for months at one point. It was solo mineable for years and I had an A1 ASIC. Yes I will get rich(er) if you guys all agree with my points and buy in. Doesn't make any of it less true, this is already in profit for me and I'm already financially independent - which was achieved by altcoin investments over the past 4 years, by the way. My FLO makes up ~3% of my total crypto worth. Make up your own mind if this is just shilling. Keep in mind I said you will need to wait probably months for huge gains, and cheers to those that also see the potential.

It might be possible perhaps for it to reach a bit lower before I can buy some of it. Would it be too late for me to start at this rate? Hopefully not. I will invest on this once it would be ok for it to be followed.

Someone said 100K.!? that would be some amazing gains. Gotta get in on these gems before everyone else starts buying. Then the temptation to sell is there when your up 5x .. 10x.. etc.. I'm not gonna make the same mistake with this coin that I have with others.. selling too early.

Actually few days ago i've done some research about FLO and i really want and believe that it's going to be huge. But on the other hand i'm not financially independent (yet) and I'm just looking for new interesting things to learn about and doing little steps to start making some daily/weekly profit. I don't expect it to shoot x20 in a month but i also don't want to wait two weeks and look how it's going back to 1500 satoshi. That's wy i asked about current downtrend. I'm just curious about other people's perspectives. I know it might sound like i'm hot-headed or something but i think it's pretty common behavior for beginners.

You state with such certainty that it will take months to make huge gains. Who determines the price is the market. It may take months, it may take 1 day. This market is unpredictable, overnight everything can happen.

What a wonderful post, we need more people like you on the forum. It's been years that I'm reading Bitcointalk (even though I decided to create an account only recently) and I'm tired of all the lazy people out there who don't do the research themselves and expect people to tell them everything without any effort. Not to mention all the people who FUD, who are constantly negative and/or who are completely dumb (kinda like the one, few messages above, who answered aggressively to your post). The entry point is still pretty low. I could see FLO reaching $0.20 in the near future. I think today it's selling for around $0.11. With it's low market cap, it has a lot of room to increase in value.

I'm newish to Crypto and still educating myself, but fully aware of the basic rules that must be applied to win long term at this game. I come from years of physical silver Hodl'in and a couple years FX trading so can relate what I see in Crypto, and what you need to succeed, basically HODL bitch and come back at 10x. Crypto is like Fx, but on steroids.

Those were calls made at the beginning of the year.  Anybody could have said any shitcoin was going to spike, and guess what?, it would have.  Those calls prove nothing.   Nothing he's called recently has made any real movement like that.  Maybe he's using his previous "success" and legendary status to get all the noobs to buy in to spike a coin while he sells?  How is that not plausible?  See below.

Picking a coin like Florin that is a fraction of the cap space of LBR or DCT and has had a committed dev team since 2014, a little early adoption i.e. Imogen Heap demonstrating some proof of concept along with a viable roadmap that's being delivered on, is not bad. Not watershed but a sleeper and many would say a good find. Again, that's not your point but if you consider what is going on and what is actually allowed in this space, it seems that you're singling out OP very unfairly.

Even the Wolf of Poloniex, who appears to have a 1br apt in Fort Lauderdale with a partial ocean view is influencing decisions via his Twitter. It's regrettable, funny and sure to change. That said, none of this is anything but consistent with what investment houses have been doing for time immemorial. Look at Jamie Dimon last week and maybe put a bullseye on his back.

Well, there can't possibly be "no censorship" at all. If their servers are providing a way to access federally illegal content (content defined as illegal by federal governments in multiple countries), clearly that isn't going to fly. Their servers which host the website(s) would be shut down in no time.

They will have to have a way to freeze/delete/hide content which is deemed illegal and/or copyrighted.

I think the "no censorship" sentiment would relate to things that may be considered offensive by some, but not deemed illegal. Such as profanity, nudity, political topics, etc. But again, that is just a guess.

It's a shame we have to immediately think about what the bad folks will do with a platform and how to prevent it rather than celebrating it's features and functionality. But that is unfortunately the way it is nowadays.  :-\

Quite strange that news didn't cause any price movement

Florin keeps having these majors bursts, I assume in anticipation of what was released today. On Decentraland, I've been looking for a decent decentralized video solution and Alexandria fits a lot of the criteria. I was first introduced to the coin in this forum.

The answer to your question requires understanding that component - the protocol is permissionless and public, therefore literally anything can be published. However, the governance of OIP does include a note about "universally abhorrent" content - like child pornography, snuff pornography and hunting children for sport - and prohibits any compliant applications from allowing this kind of content to make money
At the application layer - every individual application will use filter lists to limit the content displayed - ie, Token.FM is a music streaming service, so they will not be displaying other kinds of content published to OIP
Alexandria is our application - and we intend for it to be as open as possible, as such we do not have any restrictions on content, beyond what is limited by the protocol - as i mentioned this is "universally abhorrent" content & illegal content/DMCA issues.

You can find the coin on Bittrex. It is not a very new concept per se, however, Alexandria chose to use Florincoin to store comments and data for their project. That gives it purpose.

Descending wedge formed inside a larger descending triangle. I can see two things happening in the coming weeks. A continuation of the wedge downwards after bouncing from the key support at 1000sat area OR a break upwards out of the wedge after a bounce from 1000sat area. After a potential break upwards a reassesment is needed as it will encounter a longer term resistance from the previous upswing+ a longer term resistance from the downswing after said upswing, forming the triangle.
We'll see how this one plays out, especially with BTC being in a very bullish trend.

Miners are going to receive half amount of FLO, so they can dump just half amount of they did before.

Branding may bump the price, however, I more firmly believe in long term applications for altcoins to succeed. Florincoin has that as a metadata storage mechanism for Alexandria. In my opinion this use case gives it some solid merit as an altcoin.

MyEtherWallet is the best pocket book for Ether and tokens released on thereumeblockchain, in my oppinion. Although it still have some disadvantages, I don't see a suitable alternative for it. And it's quite secure before you open it out of your save and don't adhere to any physhing links.

I've been checking out Florin Coin for a few months because of it's name and historical references. A few months ago I visited the site and it seemed to be operating. I was delighted as it orientated itself around creatives and artists. However since the rebranding the site is just a shell and I haven't found any reason to get involved in Flocoin other than the hype and increase in price.

Security Transaction Records in a Blockchain World
tZERO uses software known as Digital Locate Receipts, or DLR, in order to store a record of every single transaction that occurs on the platform. This transaction history is stored on the Florincoin blockchain, and it is able to do this through the OIP integration with the DLR software. For every single transaction on tZERO, FLO is spent in order to store a transaction comment on the blockchain. It is in this way that Florincoin plays an integral role within the tZERO platform.

Given the important function of Florincoin in the tZERO platform, and the incredibly high profile nature of tZERO itself, you would think more people would be aware of this, but that could not be further from the truth. A Google search of “tZERO Florincoin” really only turns up two results that are specifically on the connection between the two, and even then, you wouldn’t find these results unless you already knew what you were looking for.


Yepppppp, that’s it.
So how is it possible that this knowledge is so hidden from public view? Well, there are a few factors producing the obscurity. Florincoin is quite old in the grand scheme of blockchain. It also only has a marketcap of $5,062,035, and a rank of 514 on Coinmarketcap. To the vast majority of people in the blockchain space, if it isn’t in the top 100, maybe top 200 at most, then it effectively doesn’t exist. Couple that with its age, and you’re really only going to remember this thing if you were around in 2013–2014 or so.

The second reason for the obscurity is the fact that tZERO itself makes no direct mention to Florincoin anywhere that you would readily find it. As a matter of fact, finding out about the role of Florincoin in tZERO effectively boils down to luck, and having sharp eyes. In the next section I will take you down the same path I did in discovering this partnership, and provide all of the sources used to confirm it.

A Trail of Breadcrumbs
My journey began with the simple question, “What blockchain platform does tZERO run on?” It’s important to first note that there are effectively two components at work here; the native tZERO token for which an ICO was done, and the blockchain on which security trade history is stored upon (Florincoin). The tZERO token itself is a simple ERC-20 token, that has nothing to do with the process of transaction record storage. The tZERO token is of no concern to us right now. That said, the first place I looked to try and discover the platform was the tZERO website.

If you scroll down on the tZERO website you will see a Demo Videos section. The video of interest to us is the one on DLR. This video can only be directly found on the tZERO website, as it is unlisted on YouTube. At exactly 01:28 into the video, the speaker begins going into detail on how trade history and details are stored on the blockchain, and you will soon see this:


Notice something?
If you look at the top left of the image, you will see none other than Florincoin. The speaker of the video then pulls up the Florincoin block explorer and directly shows the transaction. If you did not catch the Florincoin detail in this video with your own eyes, then you would have completely missed it, as Florincoin is not directly mentioned by name anywhere in the video, or in text anywhere on the website.

Upon discovering Florincoin, more research was required, and I made my way to the Florincoin website. Once there, if you go to the dApps page and scroll down, you will be presented with none other than this:


That’s confirmation number two on the Florincoin and tZERO connection, but that’s not the only relevant piece of information on this page. If you look at the dApp directly to the right of tZERO, you will see this:


That name sounded familiar, and I quickly remembered why. If you go to the tZERO telegram page and scroll up to the announcement made on August 1 of this year, you will see an announcement specifically about Medici Ventures. Turns out that Medici Ventures is yet another blockchain related subsidiary of Overstock. Medici Ventures aims to build a property rights registry on the blockchain, and what blockchain are they using? None other than Florencoin. Additionally, remember that announcement that was on the telegram page? It turns out that Medici Ventures just signed a partnership agreement with World Bank.

Lastly, there are two sources from the Overstock CEO, Patrick Byrne himself. The first comes from an interview that Patrick Byrne had with BlockchainNewsKorea on 04/23/18, in which he explicitly states that tZERO is using Florincoin.

There it is, the first official confirmation from an Overstock/tZERO employee, and from none other than the CEO himself. Funny enough, in the video format of the interview, the entire question involving Florincoin has been edited out. Hmm, I wonder why that could be? It’s almost as if Florincoin is deliberately being kept obscure…

Finally, we have the public audio recording from the Overstock Q2 Earnings Call, which took place on August 9, 2018. Remember that OIP thing that was discussed earlier? Listen closely to what Patrick Byrne states, beginning at 59:10. Here is a transcription of the recording:

So, a real business model has emerged, including — I’m very excited about a revenue model that’s buried in here, but for competitive reasons [chuckling] I don’t want want to mention it, but it’s very — this whole new approach is — actually, why not give them some credit. There’s uh, there— I don’t know why we aren’t giving them credit. We’re building a bunch of the technology in OIP, and OIP, uh, is a open source technology that lets sort of an alternative to patents. It lets you create technology, and as people use it, it generates revenue for the person who created it.
There you have it. By this point it should be readily apparent that tZERO will be utilizing Florincoin to enable a critical function of its infrastructure. In the final section of this article, I will elaborate on how tZERO successfully disrupting Wall Street will affect Florincoin, as well as my personal opinion on what kind of valuation Florincoin can achieve.

The Bottom Line
tZERO will be using Florincoin to store the record of every single trade that occurs on its platform. In order to store information on the Florincoin blockchain, FLO must be spent, and that is for each and every transaction. tZERO aims to disrupt Wall Street by offering a trading platform for blockchain backed securities. Institutional and accredited investors recognize the immense upside potential that tZERO has if it achieves its objective, as evidenced by Overstock shares jumping over 20 percent in a matter of hours, shortly after their Q2 earnings call. During that same earnings call, it was announced that the private-equity firm GSR Capital will invest up to $270M into tZERO, at a valuation of $1.5B. This was the same earnings call mentioned previously, where CEO Patrick Byrne describes Florincoin while carefully avoiding use of its name.

To put the disruption potential into perspective, roughly 2–6 billion shares are traded on the NYSE each day. Using August 10, 2018 as an example, approximately 3,185,152,141 trades occurred. Can you imagine how much FLO it would take per day to store the trade history on the blockchain, if tZERO were to capture even 5% of that daily trade volume? That is exclusively using the NYSE as an example. If we combine the number of shares traded per day on both the NYSE and Nasdaq, the number of FLO needed is even higher, and that’s still not taking into account other global markets. Unlike traditional securities markets, trading on tZERO may potentially be 24/7 365, and will feature the ability to buy partial shares. Those two factors alone are revolutionary, and have the potential to massively increase the trade volume. Furthermore, it’s important to remember that tZERO is not the only dApp running on the Florincoin blockchain, which only increases the daily number of FLO spent on storage space.

All that said, here’s a reminder that Florincoin currently has a marketcap of only $5,062,035 and 514 on Coinmarketcap. When you consider the valuation of tZERO, as well as the integral role that Florincoin functions in the tZERO system, I can’t help but feel that Florincoin may be massively undervalued.

Conclusion
The conclusion I came to after doing all of the research I have shown here, is that Florincoin may have massive untapped potential, and is the equivalent of a diamond among coal. The best comparison in blockchain that I can think of, in terms of situation, not function, is AntShares (now NEO). After AntShares launched in late 2016, it quickly fell off the map, and effectively became a hidden gem, just like Florincoin. For most of 2017, AntShares had a marketcap between 5 to 6 million dollars, until it came to exist in the public eye once more. Once AntShares was discovered, and then shortly after it became NEO, it rose ~170,000% in one year from its low to the ATH. This is just my personal opinion, but based on all the information provided, I believe Florincoin may be positioned for exponential growth, especially considering that it is currently the only way for the average crypto speculator to gain exposure to tZERO, besides buying shares in Overstock itself.

I’ve provided the facts, I’ve stated my opinion, and now it’s time for you to form your own. Florincoin can be purchased on Bittrex, and for more information I advise visiting the Florincoin website and its page on Coinmarketcap.
