I like taxi. I think this is a good idea. I hope in my city also accept bitcoin. because everyday I use taxi.

I think it depend on bitcoin is legalized in your country or not. If it's legalized I think every services in your country will accept bitcoin for payment soon :). Beside in few countries Uber is accepting bitcoin for payment :D

Holding bitcoins completely defeats the purpose why it was made. Bitcoins were made to circulate and be used to pay for stuff. If we just continually hold it, that would mean it is not being used as an alternative to fiat currency. We're just like trading it like stocks and waiting for it to grow in price. Basically, we just made a global stock market where there is no company but merely digital gold.

that's what i want in the future.. paying your bitcoin for our taxi fare.. i hope their will be a big adoption on cryptocurrency soon

I think that there is someone who have the same concept as this one, it was on africa, having this concept will very much depend on things such as the geographical location, if Bitcoin is legal, the status of the economy of one country, etc. these are just some of the problems that may be encountered. Reason being is that most people in certain countries are not aware of bitcoin, if they are made aware of it then next question is if they will accept it or not. Most likely these drivers will not accept bitcoin as a payment, reason for that is because bitcoin is highly volatile, so payment will still depend on the market of that country. If bitcoin's price rises that will be a problem for the passenger since they do not want to pay huge amount of money, same goes to the driver if the price dips, they do not want to be driving when they get a low payment.

We are wishing that this can be happening soon as it can mean that Bitcoin has already saturated the market and can already be in the mainstream. Now, this can happen if there would be a service that will connect those drivers into Bitcoin or maybe a wallet provider which has a good system to connect both parties. Let's encourage Bitcoin-related companies to develop an app for transacting Bitcoin fast and easy and not just for taxi business, actually for many other industry as well.

I agree with you on this one but most people who are involved in bitcoin are investors.They care less about using bitcoin as a currency but more about making profit out of it and you can't blame them.The price that we are seeing today is because of these investors which are buying bitcoin and holding it.If they all decide to sell or use it like a currency for day to day purpose,the price won't be 4K$. ::)

for me, cash or credit card is still convenient for Taxi payment because right after you dropped from Taxi is payment should be made in seconds. I don't think BTC will work that way high transaction fee and delay of transfers will create inconvenience for Taxi payment and other alike transactions.

much profitable if cash i am agree with that because not anytime we can use online transaction so for me it is much profitable cash basis unlike transaction online on some small transac like in taxi.

Agreed. You can save it but it doesn't mean that you will close your doors in a possibility to consider Bitcoin as a mode of payment. Read and understand the purpose of Bitcoin as why Satoshi Nakamoto made it.

This is a good idea, but I can't see it being implemented in the near future. Because of the high transaction fee and long confirmation time, a lot of taxi operations will see this a problem on their end. Although I really would like to see bitcoin going mainstream, this will not be a good example to begin with.

Agreed. There are other things that we can spend our bitcoin. However, if by chance you ran out of cash and no credit card, bitcoin could be a good payment option. But at one point you need to really used bitcoin so that it can go back to the ecosystem and circulate.

Uber i think accepting bitcoins now. But not directly. You need to avail coinbase's Shift card which acts like a credit card. It will cost you $10 for availing for Shift Card.

It might be a fake news but it would be great if they accept litecoin since the transaction is very fast because litecoin uses lightning Network.

Yes it is, plus it will bring awareness to other people about what is bitcoin and as how far it can do.  I saw a lady before in New York on its documentary about bitcoin, she paid the cab using bitcoin.  In case bitcoin will be accepted here in my country as payment for cab, I will not use my bitcoin for a ride.  It is precious to me and I will not use it to something which I cannot profit.

This my be good idea. Maybe if someone or a company will propose this to be listed as ICO make a token for taxi payments, this would be great for everybody commute in taxi.

I don't know how you can now use the bitcoin payment in a taxi. The price for a small transaction can be approximately equal to the cost of travel. Much cheaper to withdraw a large sum to a Bank card and pay with it for taxis and shopping in the store.

Physical money or fiat is much more convenient to use as a form of payment for taxi and other businesses firm as you can just hand the money over and the transaction is finished unlike in bitcoin, you need to wait for confirmations from the bitcoin network in order for the transaction finished or transferred. For now we can't actually used it for our daily lives but in the near future they can implement some upgrades and additional feature in the blockchain.

It is absolutely going to be nice having something like this. It will be easy though it the top players like uber can integrate something like this on their application and make it flexible for people to choose the payment they wish including bitcoin. This may take time a bit though, since there is a lot of development like tx fees and huge adoption. However, at least a start will make some difference.

Fiat payment would be faster and more reliable. How is the taxi driver supposed to know that we have paid? Most of taxi drivers are not into technology. Some of them are against Uber because it's something new and innovative. It would overhaul the way how they are getting along with their customers.

I think this is less efficient, because we all know that when making transactions with bitcoin it requires some confirmation, and also have to think about the fee. very unfortunate if we throw some fee for taxi payment transaction. I think with money it will be easier and it does not take long.

Could you possibly elaborate a little bit more than just a single sentence? I read that Uber (similar to a regular taxi) allows users to tip their drivers with bitcoin. That's about halfway there. But still, making bitcoin a proper payment method would obviously be very beneficial to the bitcoin price and the community.

I believe in some country, Uber has started taking payments in bitcoin. I can't remember the country name right now. But why you are so excited about making your taxi payments in bitcoin? You will be loosing a fortune for sure. The amount of money you spend using bitcoin for your taxi ride fares, that probably in future, can be same as a cost of a car itself.

Bitcoin's potential is really high and it can reach to any price point in future. Don't get surprised if a bitcoin value reaches at 25000 USD in future. So instead of spending your bitcoin, save it and pay your taxi bills using your local currency. At least that's what I will do if I were you. 

In our country, grab and uber is in demand since it is safer than having the usual taxi. In here there are various ways to pay the fee and i think it will be a good idea if bitcoin would be an additional option in paying it. In this way bitcoin will be introduced to the public as well and might be the reason for the boom of this site. Many will be encourage once they know the benefits that we'll gain in joining in bitcoin forums.

This is an interesting post. However, if everyone would only hold BTC instead of spending, BTC can never be considered a real currency. Volatility is an important aspect of a currency. So spending BTC in a taxi, in restauraunts or during grocery shopping in everyday life should be a major aim in the long run. I guess, I can assume that you are only holding BTC for now and might spend it in the near future?

I remember reading elsewhere on this forum that Uber has started  allowing tips with Bitcoin and if that was indeed true I don't think it will be long before Uber will implement it as part of their payment options.

maybe later there will be bitcoin time to be part of the real world. for now very little development in the real world. so I think it will be there in time.

It's a good idea to have the option to pay for bitcoins. Aside from this it is good, Because bitcoins are more familiar with many people. Therefore, these countries are legally binding on the price of bitcoins. And more companies will receive payouts from bitcoins, And in fact it happens, like real estate, And much more. everyone hopes that way. finding bitcoin to make things easy and I think when it's done bitcoin as a taxi payment tool and it's very interesting everyone finds ease wherever they are they can transactions without having to swap their country money to the money exchange this is done quickly I am sure this will become real

Yeah bitcoin Is now being use for a lot of the purposes such as in the market and it is increasing the value of the bitcoin. More people are using bitcoin and they will pay the high amount of the money for the days. The bitcoin payment for the taxi is looking a small thing but I think it will increase the value of the bitcoin currency more and more. So it will be easy to pay for all the things with the bitcoin

Well actually using our bitcoins to pay in taxi's is a really a good idea because you don't need to worry to cashing out the money in your bitcoin wallet, you will only just send your bitcoins to the driver using your wallet. And also using pur bitcoins to pay taxi's will be more cheaper for us to pay to our trips or travels.

I hope not only for taxi, but for all mass service. if that's the case I'm sure bitcoin is the champion.

As I know that Uber taxi has accepted Bitcoin for payment but It's not work all over the world, only in few countries cause Bitcoin is not legalized world wide. But it's very cool if we can use Bitcoin for everything we need. Maybe I also can use Bitcoin to pay for taxi or anything else in next 2 years cause the government in my country is going to legalize Bitcoin and it will be done in 2019, I hope so :D

Using cryptocurrency in a taxi is a good idea. In fact there is an ongoing ICO regarding carpool. The name of the coin is CARTAXI. It will operate around Europe and some place in America.

I think taxi it is not top priority  item where bitcoin can be used  
there are a lot of   sphere where bitcoin will be usefull, something like  insiarence or medicine

Bitcoin is a technology driven idea. To be able to use bitcoin as a payment for a taxi, the taxi infrastructure must adopt the new technology. It is not like what traditional payment scheme we do in a taxi, we just pay what the taxi meter showed. Like Uber or other services that we were able to adopt to their system. If bitcoin will be used as payment there will be a new system or a new digital coin only to be used to their system.

BTC in the taxis would be wonderful as there might be some hiring locomotion somewhere with problem and a person who is a BTC user could ask for a taxi.

Uber just needs to start accepting it as a form of payment.

Unfortunately the Core dev team is opposed to Bitcoin being used as a currency.   This is why there is so much drama, and upcoming forks.   There is a real mutiny going on right now everywhere with a lot of angry people who wanted Bitcoin to scale years ago.

Hopefully in the end things will work out.   Bitcoin (in my opinion) fails to be what it was made for if its not acting as Peer to Peer Cash.   Think im wrong?  Go read the title of the White Paper.

I think it depend on the country you're living in cause Bitcoin is not legalized all over the world so in some countries you can't use Bitcoin to pay for anything directly and the only way to use it in these countries is exchange it into cash but in country that Bitcoin is legalized everything is different, you can use Bitcoin direclty to pay for everything like taxi, taxes, bills,.....it's very convinient right :)). I'm still waiting to see Bitcoin is legalized all over the world but maybe it's really difficult cause there are some countries banned Bitcoin and if you use Bitcoin in these countries you will have to go to jail for at least 6 months.

I am ready to pay all services with bitcoins ( or alt coins)  but this is  too early for my country. I cannot imagine it right now. Here is no any chances to use bitcoin as usually currency and so freely that  to pay utilities or taxi. It all depends on country you live and governments official position or on jurisprudence. I am ready to all new things in our life but my society\government and country  not are ready !

Perhaps in the future when bitcoin is more mainstream and widely used, this would be convenient for the bitcoin users especially when they're caught in a situation of having no cash to pay the taxi fare. I remember one time when I rode a taxi, I didn't have enough cash on me to pay the taxi and it was ridiculously high because of the traffic and distance of my destination. I ended up having a debt with the driver because of this. I guess if one could opt to pay with bitcoin, you could avoid a situation like this.

For now it wouldn't be worth your while with the current fee's, Imagine paying 3-4 dollar fee on a 10 dollar cab ride.

I've used bitcoins to pay in a restaurant, then the price was low and it felt good to use bitcoin as a currency. Cryptocurrency can be an ideal payment for taxi as the user just have to scan a qr code and needn't care about the change. But bitcoins increasing transaction fees may not enable it to be done with bitcoin.

If bitcoin can use to pay a card on online gaming,gadgets,restaurant etc,why should not use in paying taxi.it is possible why not?we hope someday that bitcoin will be regularized in our country,and all people will become knowledgeable about bitcoin,so that all transaction will become legit and in right process.someday also grab car or uber group can accept bitcoin ,we hope so.

As second option you can purchase a new bitcoin debit card and use that card to pay whatever service you gonna to use like taxi. Also this can be considered as good ICO idea :)

You won't be happy to pay 2$ fee for 10$ transaction. It will be 20% of fees, higher then credit card fees.

Its a nice idea that taxi drivers will accept bitcoin as a payment. For example you are in a hurry and forgot to pay the taxi driver, you can do it later because you can send bitcoin to the taxi driver unless you remember the bitcoin address. Another is fast and easy transaction of money. Its easy and more convenient than paying money.

Taxi would be accepting small transactions. Bitcoin now is not suitable for small transactions. Fees are much higher than banks fees for this kind of transaction.

i think for physical cash is also good business transactions but the only thing we can do is to fasting the network of bitcoin to be available at all time to make the online transaction be firm and good confirmatory, because i know that with the network issues in our country will really make it a bit slower and inconvenient for people to go into it.

I think Bitcoin for taxis is a great idea. The thing is not that many people are willing to spend their bitcoins right now so it'll be hard to get some. Maybe if they give discounted prices.

The idea is good but how to implement, how the taxi driver will take money for gasoline, and in a pocket put a little. You will not break the system in this way, everything will remain in its place.

It will be a good move but people will not still use it as their primary payment method since btcnis much good on saving that spending and there are many to consider once it is implemented like the delays in transactions and additional fees.

I was thinking about CarTaxi ICO project, but nah, it's for car towing service. Anyway, I think this is impossible, atleast for now. We all know that BTC has a high charge for very transaction and not good for small and cheap payments. And also another problem that will arise both party is the delay and time that will take to credit the bitcoin to your account. Unlike credit card (if we are talking and comparing about digital) it will be real time.There are lot of things to fix, upgrade and consider before small payments will make possible thru BTC payment

If we are going to pay small expenses in taxi using bitcoin then just think for the fees that you are going to pay using bitcoin so i don't think that it is a great way to pay things up because if you will pay only a small amount of money using bitcoin then the fees will double all the amount that you will be paying so it is not practical for a conservative bitcoin user.

I heard uber was considering the use of bitcoin, but I'm not sure. I don't really think it will work in a near future though because the fees are still to high, so paying a taxi, that normally is already expensive, will become even more expensive because you will be paying fees for the transaction. It would be much better for users to just pay with fiat.

For me, Bitcoin is not the cryptocurrency that will solve this problem. Because as of now, bitcoin is used as investment or something like stocks and its too volatile to use as daily transaction. I suggest another altcoin or token, the advantages are to promote their business and win customer's loyalty by giving them incentives who use tokens. It is proven in some services and I believe, it will be effective in transportation section.

I have never found ICO about taxi, it would be a very interesting idea, by making payment using bitcoin or special altcoin will add progress to cryptocurrency, hopefully all be realized.

There are a lot of ideas on how to accept payment by BTC but that is not feasibility, but everything can happen in the future and I hope that happens.

What if his Country is not included in that Cartaxi? Well there is no need to rush things I think in the future we can surely see that even taxi's, Buses, Trains and even Car services would surely accept bitcoin you just need to look at japan that surely innovates their country by using the system of bitcoin I think if the country would legalized bitcoin then I think this is possible we just need to be patient in waiting for that to happen.

How do you think taxi drivers and owning companies would accept bitcoin in future? Do they know that much about the technology that they believe it would help? If they do then it will be a breakthrough in the industry and then major companies may start to use it too to stay in competition. However there is Uber in our country as well but here to use of bitcoin is only among few people who mainly trade it rather than use it a currency. So locally I dont think it will make much of an impact. But globally it can be a new step towards to acceptance of bitcoin.

as soon as the volatility of BTC will decrease the normal use will develop, before that make and accept payments in BTC create too mach risks related to the short term value. taxi driver should be able to purchase gas next day, if the price of gas in USD and rate of BTC will fall, he will loose money. whole ecosystem should develop and the rate should stabilize first.

If taxi service in every country in the world accept btc payment, it is a convenience to the shipping industry. But besides, it also has to comply with the laws that each country issues to the BTC, which may then oblige businesses to pay taxes to the government but that is a good thing because the government in that country may have accepted BTC as legal

It is more convenient to use bitcoin for the taxi drivers but for the people who will use bitcoin will surely have some issues and they will still prefer the fiat money in paying the services in taxi because fiat is still a faster process of paying since you just need to take it off from your wallet and pay it directly to the driver while bitcoin needs to open your wallet, scan the barcode then send the bitcoin with fee. So you can observe clearly that it will consume time and money for a bitcoin user to just complete a transaction.

Taxi driver will not wait for BTC confirmation, it can take up to one hour and more. Plus Taxi car must be equiped with fast instant Internet, which costs some money and is not available everywhere. Plus in some countries Internet in the cars is not available due to low quality Internet, like in Africa, India, Pakistan etc. So Internet in Taxi is Bitcoin future.

you don't have to wait for confirmation. analyzing the transaction for the risk of double spend is not a hard thing which the wallets can do easily and also there is no need to wait for confirmation on such small amounts such as a taxi fair.

I really think it is a great idea to circulate the usage of Bitcoin, and paying taxis using Bitcoin would also be a great idea in the future. for the time being in my city still no one is implementing payments using bitcoin for taxi, most still use cash to pay taxi, maybe in the future it can be done in my city. because bitcoin still rarely use it for payment. most of them only use bitcoin for investment.

I can relate with you I use taxi pretty much everyday and now they have started accepting e-wallets in my region, I hope they add Bitcoin as a payment option soon confirmation time might be a problem here though.

That's a good idea. And when this happens the bitcoins are more familiar and many people will have knowledge of bitcoins. In fact, Not to mention there is an ICO and their concept has become the option of paying for taxis. So many companies have adopted crypto.  Because they believe the crypto has a good effect on our daily lives

Have you sent any transaction lately? I usually have a confirmation within 10 min. Sometimes even faster. My last transaction had a confirmation in just 2 or 3 minutes.
It's actually easy to create a service that holds your coins and vouches for the confirmation in your name. Many fiat payment systems are based on this. The money doesn't get to you instantly, but a third party confirms the transaction so you know it's all good.

Yes as a commuter i would like to see bitcoin in taxi that is a paying material, there is no hustle in paying because in using bitcoin its fast and easy.

First, your country should accept bitcoin, I mean bitcoin should be legal in your country. Secondly, the taxi company must be willing to accept payment via bitcoin. Because if your country has legalized bitcoin, you still can not pay a taxi with bitcoin if the taxi company does not want to receive payments via bitcoin.

I think that this is the same situation as with other spheres of business. Now there are no normal working conditions for bitcoin in many countries. As far as I know, now there is no system for quick and easy payment in bitcoin.

bitcoins have acheive so much popularety that now a days a taxi is also accepting the bitcoins because they know that bitcoins are more valuable then cash money in cash form could be riskey but but if your money is in the form of bitcoin then you should not be worried.

Have you heard of CarTaxi? That is a startup which is going to be like the Uber of car towing.

Fortunately, they had the good sense to use anything else BUT BTC for this. I'll explain. If we are waiting for initial confirms (not required anymore but it is best practice), unless the customer has already deposited an amount of btc before you charge them you will have to wait for them to pay you. Even if your address is already out and displayed, its going to take the average person 3-5 minutes to provision a transaction. You are looking at another 10-15 minutes for that initial confirmation. and if the funds need to be refunded, you will have a hell of a time trying to track down the cabbie.

You need a low fee, fast confirming coin for merchant functions in person. Bitcoin is no longer than by any means.

Well if you are saying taxi, the taxi that you picked by waving your hands then no. It is not practical for conventional taxi because of the wait time of Bitcoin transaction. But if you are referring to the online taxi's like Uber, Lyft, Grab, Didi Chuxing, etc, then maybe those provider may take the risk of unconfirmed transactions.

I would love to use bit coin as means of paying my taxi fare but just like what others say it would depend on what country are you in... But a cashles taxi fare would be amazing...

on thinking about it, a token would be the best solution for this. it wouldnt be a terrible expectation for riders to have purchased the token already if the are expecting to use the service. they could load the tokens in a wallet; the wallet could tell the driver how far they can go on the token balance they have.

tokens would lock for the duration of the ride; and the amount could be debited from the balance automatically when the door opens, after the user approves the transaction (and possible leaves a tip). this should all be off chain, and this would look best on the ethereum network, given the functionality/speed/cost.

solves the confirmation delay :) if you did this with tokens on the bitcoin network, you would rage throw your phone out of the taxi window ;)

Bitcoin for taxis is a good idea, if all the fields accept bitcoin as a means of transaction it is very convenient for bitcoin holders and entrepreneurs and merchants. But it will be difficult to do in countries that still have not legalized bitcoin.

it's very good, maybe if it's true that a taxi receives on bitcoin pay I believe it will make it easier for Bitcoin owners to travel and taxi drivers will get rich easily. if there is one then I will be a taxi driver who only accepts Bitcoin pay.

I like this idea.However have a problem. When I rent my taxi through Bitcoin It's so small cost.But bitcoin transaction fee Become more than a rental.So first Bitcoin transaction fee will be reduced.Then it's possible.

i think if btc price is not already stable then it is difficult to apply btc for taxi because if we are usually pay for 0.001 btc for one destination into other destination. then suddenly the btc market is dump hard, then how much we can adjust the fees to pay. we need to pay more than 0.001 btc to go to other destination. but the idea is good and once everything is set up, i think bitcoin can be used to pay for everything and soon we can used bitcoin in the real life too.

it depends, because not every taxi driver will be interested in getting bitcoin as a method of payment rather than cash just because they might not prefer to or that they don't have the knowledge about bitcoin. Also, taxi fares are not that high to be paid with something of high value like bitcoin.

It may be a good idea but the acceptance should start first with the taxi driver or with the operators. When the operators of those taxi's are starting to accept bitcoin the driver's doesn't really care at all because he will even get paid with cash after getting those bitcoins by the operator. yes I agree with you. bitcoin is too valuable if only spent on paying for taxi. Bitcoin is an investment that can provide us profitabl that can cash out, so why not pay a taxi with the profit we get from bitcoin? so the bitcoin we have is not exhausted and still can provide benefits. For sure there will be a lot of operators that will not agree on this idea especially those people that are living in a country that doesn't have that much progress and innovation. Already an ico project with similarity is running. Such a plan of taxi accepting bitcoin in the city as well other locations were quite good. Wouldn't that be hard because of the slow transaction confirmations? I guess it could be possible, but if I were a taxi driver, I would try to impose a minimum transaction fee just to make sure it doesn't get canceled. It's a sound idea otherwise though. Not having to bring any cash that could be robbed is always a positive.

It is best to pay for the vehicles. Like a taxi? you will still be charged when you get to your destination. It is helpful to have the process of paying for cars be resolved by bitcoin. The bill is easier when booking cars, just like Grab, Uber and so on. At Grab they have to process a fee, have credit and have personal payments. I'm happy to use bitcoin in vehicles that serve people :)

I think it's a good idea. But paying taxi fares with bitcoin is hard to come by. First, bitcoin has not been accepted by most people. Secondly, the transaction cost of bitcoin is very high, and it may cost more than you need to pay.

Taxi is just another daily routine sector where we desperately need cryptos payment. We have separate coins all together for paying taxi services. In which country do you live? I think if your country has given legal status to bitcoin then it is very easy to give permission transaction with bitcoin. But if your country has not allowed bitcoin then do not expect you can transact with bitcoin openly. This will make the taxi's license revoked if the country knows to receive payment with bitcoin. If your country has allowed bitcoin then you just propose it with the taxi owner management. I'm sure they'll be happy to accept your proposal.

Imagine if you are in a hurry, and of course you will pay your taxi driver when the meter stops or when you reach your destination. Then you pay him in bitcoins and it requires three confirmation to finish the whole payment transaction. The taxi driver will not allow you to just jump out if the transaction is not fully confirmed. That taxi payment could be applicable if you will pay first your taxi driver given the exact destination so while on your way, the transaction confirmation is still on its way.

Taxi's won't accept Bitcoin because they have licenses and work with the government. Whereas I could see Uber or Lyft stepping up to accept Bitcoin, because they always have been innovative. I don't think that would garner much sales right now though, but the fact alone that they would innovate would give them another leg up and I think taxis in 10 years could become a thing of the past. Pretty crazy radicalization in that industry but it can happen, just like finance is being changed right before our eyes.

Everyone remembers the historical case when the pizza was paid for with bitcoins. Imagine how much those 10,000 bitcoins would be worth today. That's why I see bitcoin primarily as an investment tool, not as a means of payment.

Its a good idea. but depends on which country you are living. if it allow you then only restriction is about bitcoin transfer time because sometime it takes way to much time. but i hope with developing technology we can also overcome this

I think that is good if the bitcoin will be legalize in our country so that the services to pay is very easy.bitcoin is very useful if that will be legalize because many persons like a taxi because we can fast our travel that where we go and i think there a big chance to become legalize that if the government adopt the bitcoin.

it was a good idea tho but how ever it will not click or attract all of the commuter because they are not all crypto user and now we have a card for commuter can pay trains and bus, it also need a proper testing and trial for this idea.

In the world are many establishments that accept bitcoin as method of payment.
But I don't think that Bitcoin is the best concurrency because of high transaction fees.
