Climate Change is getting worse by the minute and it affects every part of the Earth. It is not a matter of debate as concrete scientific evidence shows the reality of it.

1) Carbon dioxide levels in the air is at its highest in 650,000 years (406,17 parts per million).

2) 16 of the 17 warmest years on record have occurred since just 2001.

3) In the summer of 2012, Arctic sea ice had shrunk to the lowest level ever recorded in history.

4) Satellite data shows that Earth's polar ice caps are losing mass (287 GT per year).

The CLIMATECOIN token is a new and unique cryptocurrency based in Ethereum that permits any citizen in the world to participate in the fight against climate change. It utilizes blockchain technology for that purpose while also giving back quarterly profits to its token holders.

With the money Climatecoin Foundation gets from the CLIMATECOIN token sale, it will be buying stakes in companies that have ground-breaking products for fighting the current climate change crisis. CLIMATECOIN may buy companies that are already profitable, make seed investments in early-stage companies, create its own companies or projects, or buy solutions from other organizations to implement into the foundation’s projects.

The CLIMATECOIN Foundation will collaborate with companies that create solutions against climate change and they will utilize blockchain technology to do so. We will provide investment and business consulting to these companies to make their environmentally friendly products more economically feasible. The main goal for these companies is to remain profitable, in which they may be able to redeem dividends from the organization. The profitability of these partnered companies is essential to appreciating the value of the currency.

Another method for increasing the value of the coin is our depletion program: 2% of the total amount invested by the Foundation in any company will be reinvested into CLIMATECOIN CO2 tokens to allows the net asset value (NAV) of the token to increase over time. This program will function as a locked smart contract that will be locked in perpetuity to guarantee that the funds will be spent in this manner.

DETAILS Climatecoin Organization is issuing CO2 tokens through the smart contract system operated by Ethereum (ref to Annex 1).

The Climatecoin Foundation is a publicly registered body in Switzerland with legal responsibilities and is subject to audits. This will ensure the transparency of operations and the secure custody of the funds.

Token name: CLIMATECOIN CO2 Token - Climatecoin Profit-ShareSmart Contract The tokens will be assigned pro-rata to the funds provided to Climatecoin FOUNDATION in the InitialCoinOffering(ICO).

Summary:

• Participants willing to contribute to and support the development of CLIMATECOIN can do so by sending Ether to the designated address.

The goal is to create a fund.  The fund is to be used to buy businesses that produce or develop technologies that disrupt climate change.   75% of the profits created by those businesses will return to the fund.  25% will be dividends, to be paid quarterly, to the token holds.  The UN is involved.  They will be part of the process for selecting companies for acquisition.

You propose basically to raise money to then invest in companies that are creating eco-friendly "revolutionary" products, but how will you control that these companies performs well, how will you choose companies, etc... ?

How does sucking CO2 out of the air help with climate change ?  It looks good but I don't understand it. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I would have added. How can this coin affect climate change? It seems to me that developers still care about climate change. The main thing is to come up with a name that is more beautiful, give some social significance and receive money. However, there are a lot of such projects on the forum.

CO2 is a green house gas that causes global warming.  Removing CO2 from the atmosphere would disrupt that process.


As to how a coin can disrupt climate change, that is straight forward. 

Step 1: people invest into the "fund" being created by this ICO.
Step 2: the "fund" makes acquisitions of companies who are creating climate disrupting tech.
Step 3: take the profits from the companies.
Step 4: distribute 75% to the fund and 25% to the token holders.
Step 5: profit for the investor and growth for the fund.

First of all . I am very aware of climate change and mechanisms involved.

At first glance i did not understand how Blochain could help and after reading about this project, still do no understand because its seems like hedge fund with focus on climate change companies. Thats it. To be honest it is a bit sad to use ClimateChange for business in this way.

i don't see the issues here, effectively greenEnergy token will have been more accurate with the purpose but the subject at the end is about climate change. Crypto is bussiness that you like it or not and creating an hedge fund that will help the energy transition is good.

The problem is that if you are taking someones money and promising them returns that means you are profit driven thus you need to invest in projects that will potentially generate profit which not always will be the same as good alternate energy projects and the problem with hedge funds are that they tend to be become scams and lose money thus peoples trust could be low ( I am not telling that you that this project is becoming one of those).

Coepenhaegen as done that to finance their offshore wind turbine. citizen have invest in it to help the construction and now get a ROI. I don't remember the percentile but it is quiet good.

The token distribution of the bounty program

We would like to inform you that the distribution of the bounty program tokens has started today, Friday 3nd of March and due to the large number of participants it will take time.

Climatecoin Foundation has decided to enbroad the pool of tokens to 10.000 CO2. Due to this, the token distribution will be the same for every participant that our Bounty manager has selected.

Today I talked with the project manager in the telegram channel, she told me that the tokens will be paid to everyone in the few days. We must wait a little.

I still did not get paid for signature bounty program. Also checked few random bounty participants from each bounty activities and see that payments even not started.

Do anyone know since and until when CO2 wallet on coinexchange maintenance?
this don't make sense since CO2 is ethereum ERC-20 token and work under ethereum network,
the ETH wallet on that exchange is fine but not CO2  :-\
