I need your opinion about having bitcoin for payments in online games, it is good or nah?

Using bitcoin as payments for in-game items and upgrades is very useful since many people are capable of technology devices though bitcoin and online games are done by computers.

I thinks its very efficient for me as a gamer and a bitcoin user to have a transaction or payment like that.

It's a great addition of course. That's why Steam, the biggest gaming platform, already enabling wallet top-up with Bitcoin. The industry revolving around online gaming like in-game item trading, match betting, gambling, etc also use Bitcoin as the main payment (withdrawal and deposit) method.

Like the wallet we use hear in the Philippines, namely coins.ph has an option if we wanted to buy game credits such steam, cherry and Level up. It is good idea because a lot of gamers doesn't have time to visit any 711 store or card store just to buy top up cards. This would help a lot of gamers to spend less time in looking for a seller.

if you are thinking like donation or the way of your users uses this currency to buy or sell on the market of your game think twice i play lots of online games they didnt use bit coin as payment currency because it is not stable like it will go higher or apparently it will go lower so if your items has fix price for bitcoin value it will not be so accurate to the market price of your game.. so that the game will adjust for the currency not the currency.. so better use dollars for in terms of market value or currency for your game...

it is good to have bitcoin payment to online games..how ever in my country theres have bitcoin payment in online games but it is selective game that accept bitcoin payment...

Here our country bitcoins will be paid for playing games, buying ecoins and so on. So I'm happy because I'm also a gamer and uses bitcoins too. Bitcoins are a lot of use in our country. And I can say that our development is fast. Hopefully in other countries this will happen. to make the world more acquainted with bitcoins

yes, it is more than a year and a half that Steam has been accepting bitcoin directly as one of their payment systems. they are using BitPay actually.

If you are worried about the fluctuation does the bitcoin do, because you can't blame if bitcoin will decrease or rise, you can use some bitcoin payment API that will automatically convert your received bitcoin from your game to fiat or any local currencies you want.

I think it is okay to use bitcoins to buy online games however it is not open in my country. A lot of games need real cash to be deposited to money remittances and that feels quite inconvenient. If bitcoin will be allowed for transactions like this, I think it would be better.

I think some online games can be accept bitcoin payments because of its popularity on some individual who wants to make money online. We all know that bitcoin will become the official currency in the future, but we must improve the bitcoin currency to accept some bitcoin payments in online games. Now if bitcoin is not stable that the price can go down and up any day they can just make their website or application adapts the price in market automatically and programaticaly so the value of the item will not compromise. I will be the odd one that says NO at this stage. In a game you want to do instant transactions. < no waiting > Bitcoin cannot offer you that at the moment. It would be better if you use some in-game currency that you can sell for BTC. So this is how this will work : Player A buy a in game currency, let's call it "bottle caps" or "caps" for short. The player buy these "caps" from the game and pay with Bitcoin.

You use these "caps" and when you want to withdraw the monetary value in BTC, you sell it back to the game. Player A and Player B will not deal in BTC, but rather trade in "Bottle caps"

It’s really good concept but there is already skincoin is available which is dedicated to gaming industry the name of the coin suggest different skin in the game . If you want to implement bitcoin it’s good idea.

Having bitcoin payment method is good but the main problem is the transaction time and cost. If you are playing a game and instantly want to buy something a btc transaction can even take an hour or so. So first we should make bitcoin more swift then inculcate it in gaming.

I think Korea is the largest gaming country that must be regulated by bitcoin, in this case it will be huge step for that country and the blockchain!

I am also one of the steam player and regularly play CS:GO, as steam also accept bitcoin payments for purchase of both ingame items and games. I love using my bitcoin to purchase those items there and I find it quite useful because still people from many countries can't use their credit cards to pay online.

I am waiting for google play store to add bitcoin as payment method in near future.

BItcoin as an online payment for games that is really good even I use Bitcoin as online payment for games. Steam the biggest gaming platform accepts bitcoin as payment. I have also used Bitcoin to buy in-game items, websites like G2A and OPSkins accept bitcoin that is actually very helpful for people who cannot use their parent's credit cards every time especially to buy games and in-game items. But buying games and in-game items would not be suggested by me because of the prices going down recently. One of my friends just bought a 300$ in-game item yesterday irrespective of the bitcoin prices going down.
Many people are using bitcoin to buy games online currently. I hope many other websites start accepting bitcoin as well.

I think it's still too difficult to make Bitcoin made in payments in online games, because credit cards and paypal is very easy to use it in online games

Lightning network will allow for instant payment with bitcoin so lag will not be a problem soon.
Bitcoin should and will be accepted everywhere soon so games that will not support bitcoin payment will lose customers.

That would be cool maybe if you achieve certain things you will get free bitcoins like more satoshi money and that you can spend on buying more games form them that would be awesome i think steam is already working on that.

What about transaction fees? I am not sure if it would make sense long term. If we had lightning networks implemented then maybe.

It is a good idea because online games fits better in online payments for it. Example are online items in a specific game. We are paying in fiat and pay in a certain remittance center in order to acquire what you buy. It is time efficient and less hassle when you really need as soon as possible in a specific game.

Bitcoin as payment for online games is found with steam. This has never been that used as the fiat and bank transfer. Even now the acceptance of bitcoin as payment keeps on increasing, so maybe soon we can expect bitcoin acceptance over other gaming services.

Right now, it was only possible thru using local bitcoin exchanger and then will fund our balance at third party services that credited the online game. If it's going to be a direct payment in bitcoin then it will be a no hassle method. Im looking forward to this since then but online game provider I think doesn't receiving mass request about that so it was not being considered.

Yes that is true, it is more convenient to gamers if they can use bitcoin to pay or buy cards for games through coins.ph wallet , in our country.  If they can do the same in other countries then that is really nice idea. And i think its good because we dont need to withdraw it first we just need to send our bitcoin in our account there and i think it is good we can directly send it to there. I am a gamer also and I've been using PayPal as a payment in any games that I need to top up.
I've been looking for this kind of opportunity if it will surely exist in the future.
I prefer bitcoin over PayPal as it is easy to use.

It depend upon us on how we will spend our bitcoin, we could use our bitcoins freely according to our interest. Yep, it is used now, especially the ICO that are game related they are allowing btc as the token in their gaming especially in buying some accessories on a specific game.

great idea if those online games can be related on bitcoin, i am a online gamer too, so its very useful to us (gamers) if some of the online games implement bitcoin as a mode of payment to purchase some other features in the game, its very convinient for me to do so. im in with that OP idea.

I think it's good because it makes our transaction easier and safe no more hassle when paying an item in a game because all you need to do is sit and pay your desired item in game without going to stores buying like game wallets or anything i hope there's a game in the future that accepts bitcoin as a payment.

Here when I was not aware about bitcoin then was facing the problem of payment because most of the times i was facing problem of internet connection and that results into payment failed at payment gateway .
But when i found that bitcoin is better way ( since was not available at that time at every site as an payment with bitcoin ) .
Here in the current we can make payment with bitcoin very well because bitcoin payment is easy and simple way to do .
And also with this you wilo get option not to steal of your details of payment like CVV code like things .
So use bitcoin without worrying about it .

It is already been done before that bitcoin accepted by online games and it is nice and easy way specially to the games who have already bitcoin.

For me its was great if value of bitcoin is high because you can feel that all items was too cheap than to buy it direct cash from your pocket.
Also there are rebates on every item you purchased using bitcoin because me i used it to buy credits in my online games and while using my local wallet and purchasing it using bitcoin i always got 10% rebates.

It is definitely good to buy games with Bitcoins. Like steam accepts Bitcoin and I personally buy my games from there itself . Not just games , ingame items as well. There are many websites which accept Bitcoin as a mode of payment which makes it easier for me to make transactions.

Actually, using bitcoin in paying on online games is a nice idea because you cab pay that game easily and I think its quite convinient because you can pay it instantly. In addition to that, I think some online game store already accept bitcoin and I think it has a big effect on gaming industry.

For me I can separate the advantages and disadvantages of paying Bitcoin on online games. As there is a lot of of them.

Advantages
1. Good for people who does not have any options left for paying the games.
2. A hassle and easy way to pay the game online

Disadvantages
1. The value of Bitcoin is volatile, if you are buying a game or content when the value of Bitcoin is low you will be paying more Bitcoin.
2. Simply spending Bitcoin if you have other options will be a complete waste of investment

As you can see the disadvantage will only be your concern if you are an investor or if you value the Bitcoin you hold.

This is a good idea if you are playing online games. If you want to purchase some games or items it's a good idea if they are going to have bitcoin as payment for the games. Bitcoin is going to be accepted in all major gaming platforms. It is already accepted as payment in some of them. It is just a matter of time for going mainstream. Im not sure if he is talking about that. Steam does allow you to buy in-game items? Im not really a gamer but I like playing some games and I buy them on Steam with bitcoin, mostly thanks to small jobs I do for some extra income that are paid in BTC (some come from the sig campaign for example, which is a reason why sig campaigns are important and other jobs like that, they stimulate the bitcoin economy) and I like to buy the games there but I have never bought items.

I think in-game trading means buying inside the game without the Steam GUI. This will be possible once we have payment channels. Imagine a MMORPG game where you can go to the marketplace and buy items there in exchange of BTC. That is some next level stuff for videogame's ingame economies in role playing games and im sure payment channels will allow us to do that, so I cannot wait to explore th endless possibilities once the lightning network is operative.

I've seen some purchases of game items using bitcoin, but to try it personally I've never done it before, I guess with payouts using bitcoin, it would be great especially for bitcoin users, namu. I think there are some shortcomings if buying using bitcoin, which we know, bitcoin price is very volatile, this causes us to pay more bitcoin when the price goes down and I think it is a waste, because we will pay more for the same price.

Most of those transactions are micro transactions. Which obviously aren't suitable for Bitcoin right now, given it's high fee's.

It seems to me that the subject of payment for bitcoins of video games is very cool. This market already has big turnover. And if they make it possible to sell items in the game for bitcoins. This is generally very cool. ::)

I wish some day can buy and sell in game items and sell it with a cryptocurrecy with very low fee.

The idea seems good to me, I like such games as LoL and WoW, in both those games used their own payment system as gold coins, which you earn during the game doing different missions. I know that some things around this games you can buy with real money. I think all this can easy start to use bitcoin for payment, and with all bitcoin's perspectives this option can become really profitable to those who sell and to all the game heads indeed.

Yes it would be much easier than converting real cash to in-game currencies, and it would be better if they would also provide coins whenever you sell items, that will make on line game economy much better and interesting and adding bitcoin as an option would give more fluidity in transactions that gamers who doesn't want to go through tedious processes other online payment systems offers.

This is a good idea for an online games addict like me. Maybe we can buy cd-key using bitcoin too. I wish valve got a solution to have bitcoin as a method of payment on their platform .

Yeah it is very useful for online gamers and bitcoiners to use bitcoin as mode of payment in online games. It is easy and fast transactions. In our local exchanger site there is a feature that you can top up on online games, you can also pay your bills and top up load of your cellular phones. You don't need to go to bank or remittance center and fall in line for long time just to pay your bills.

Yep. I'm playing games on Steam and I purchase all my games by Bitcoin. But there are still a lot of good games but we can't play it on Steam that mean we can't buy it with Bitcoin. Beside when you buy a game on Steam with Bitcoin if anything wrong or you want to refund that game it's impossible cause Steam only accept refund with other payment methods.

I think Bitcoin is a good way to pay for online games because people who spend more time online will usually have more knowledge about Bitcoin compared to people with dayjobs.

As a gamer myself, I would most definitely purchase games with BTC. In-game products could also be purchased with BTC. I think the intangible coin and gaming platform would go hand in hand. I expect to see this come around in the next couple of years.

what a bright idea.for us Gamers we usually needed  load for our different online games,just like me when i need to top up,i must look for nearest 7/11 store or other store that sells game load.but using bitcoin will be easier for me to get what amount of load i will use.

I think it can be an option to be used to avail of in-game merchandise. However, it must be observed that not very many people, who also play online games, have in-depth knowledge about bitcoins, so it may be limited to a few game users. I think it would be better to not set the entire platform payable via bitcoin. It can be set as an option of payment for some items or some parts of the game.

Most countries don't have the luxury of making purchases online due to the fact that there is a lot of fraudulent activities in their country, by using bitcoins, the stores are very confident about the authenticity of the purchase and they don't need to worry about the order being fraudulent.

It's okay that bitcoin used as payment in online game but it's depend on your opponent if he/she accept bitcoin as your payment.

I think the games who uses bitcoin or anything else is waisting your time and your money because the creater of games control the probability and the pourcentage of your winning and this two thing is present very very small number for the player and because of that you can put your bitcoin on trust investment site not a hiyp site

I agree, and it is easy to use as bitcoin for payment I think it is good to have bitcoin considered as a payment for online games or even purchasing online games. It would also put into it's real usage if people will start to practice this.

I think it is a good idea to use bitcoins for online games because bitcoin is a digital currency, fast and reliable. we must first treat bitcoin as a currency before the rest of the world will do the same. As you said it yourself, both video games and bitcoin share the same technology which is computer and internet. Now you see the connections yourself. I strongly advice you to use bitcoin for video gaming purposes whether making payments to play or receiving one, it is such a great idea.

Why not many gamers will be happy even gambling is also a type of game, but still using our own money, then convert to bitcoin so others play with gambling. I'm not a gamer, but I think it's less likely that bitcoin will be used of payment. Via wallet? It's possible, but still need to convert on bitcoin. As of now bitcoin is used as a way of payment for bets or online game betting. It will be great when we can use bitcoin in buying online items in those games that we play. It will be a big help and inconvenience.

I am using bitcoin to buy games online like in steam because aside from bitcoin, i am also addicted to gaming from video games to different kind of gaming things like laptop, pc, consoles and many more. I am planning next year to have a gaming channel in youtube so i can earn money while having some fun in gaming and i will put my earnings in bitcoin so i can have a great combination of opportunity.

Why no ? I use bitcoin for that too especially when btc price is high and i had enough balance it's make me more efficiemt for buy game with btc, with small amount of btc (if btc prices high).

You have a point. when the bitcoins price is high then it is worth to do any investment with bitcoins. We can buy anything with less amount of bitcoins. I agree to bitcoins for online games. But when the bitcoin price is the normal rate that time fiat currency is best.

,well i was thinking that this has been already implemented, and bitcoins was already used as a method of payment usually from gaming platforms. I have also seen lots of popular gaming platforms that offers bitcoin as a payment for their items, stuffs and other purposes,and one of the most commonly being encountered situations are those betting sites.

I also think that bitcoin as a payment for in game purchases is actually a very good idea. But the main problem in it would be the transaction time, it takes too long to confirm the transaction and sometimes it takes more than a hour, and gamers doesn't have that much patience so they would preferably use PayPal or any other service.

If the games start accepting BTC to buy in-game items you would have your balance on the site, so you could send a higher amount of satoshis to make the transaction worth. Not necessary to spend all the money at once. Also, if it's hard to see sites accepting BTC, now imagine how hard would be to see these sites accepting AltCoins...

However, digital goods are not so costly to produce, when you are a multi-national company. For example, when you buy a digital version of a game instead of the CD version you can buy in your local game store, it only cost about 10% of the physical price.

There was no method in the past but now online games can accept payment with bitcoin. Actually, there is an advantageous situation. Because when the price of bitcoin drops, you can pay for it at a cheaper price.

It is actually my ideal game where you can trade items for bitcoins and vice verse. But the pricing would be difficult (rarity of the items and such) because of the unstable price or value of bitcoin.

Microtransactions in games would be something interesting but too expensive. Even though they are pretty cheap for normal usage, they won't small enough for cheap in-game items. Just use your in-game currency instead. Pokemon GO rewarding for catching Pokemons and walking a lot is a better idea. Payouts could be made from address every 15 minutes for example.

There's also another crypto currency which allows you to pay in online stores soon.

After that I think it will also be possible to pay with onions in online games.

Buying something in bitcoin is not a good decision anyway because its value will be the double in a few months, otherwise I assure you that every time I perform such a thing I think of the bitcoin's value, but I am generally obliged to do that because I only have the bitcoin as a source of money.

It is a good idea and should be implemented in most video game retail services, as well as membership based online games. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are still part of the world economy, no matter what you'll do, and unless somebody powerful or a country like China manages to destabilize it enough to the point of it becoming obsolete there's no reason why online games shouldn't look foward to enabling us to pay for whatever special function their vidya has with bitcoin.

Downloading torrents and cracking software on your computer leaves it vulnerable as there are a lot of malicious worms and trojan being spread through the downloading of such patched software. For me it is good because Valve has partnered with Bitcoin payment service Bitpay to bring everyone's favorite cryptocurrency to games platform Steam. Bitpay says it was approached by the company because it wanted to internationalize its operation, making it easier for Steam users in emerging markets to to buy games without using a credit card.

Bitcoin as a payment in online games i think its a good idea. Just like steam now they already approve the use of bitcoin to buy in-game items. People will became much more at ease at buying in-game items because sometime buying in-game items using cash always has a risk. I am not saying that using BTC has also no risk but there is much more risk in actual cash. So if you want to buy in-game items using Bitcoin just buy it.

As i know steam is already providing this service, where you can purchase any game with bitcoins, sure for others games that does allow to buy a boost in the game would be good to see the option to pay with bitcoin. What's the point of paying in game items and upgrades with bitcoin? I understand you as a gamer (I am also playing online games and I feel the urgent need of upgrading your account or your character esp. when the battle comes), but wasting money for nothing? I don't think bitcoin is an ideal way of paying in-game items. Bitcoin is so volatile that it can rise up or fall down anytime. Once that happens and online games accepts BTC as payment, there will be problems in transactions, unless regular updates is done by the developers. And I am sure that you don't want any updates to happen once or twice a week.

You will also need extra amount of BTC whenever you make transactions with BTC since there's what we call transaction fees so miners will prioritize your transaction. I think there's a separate currency for gamers that can be used in buying in-game items and upgrades.

It's good to have Bitcoins as a payment option. But only as an option. Fiat should still be present as Bitcoin is not the only world's №1 currency.

I only spend Bitcoin because it is how I use and spend money now. I don't really use fiat. Steam has accepted bitcoin for a long time. I hope blizzard will too. I don't care if EA do or not because they the devil and dont need my money. Humble bundle claim to accept Bitcoin but I've never spoken to anyone who has used Bitcoin with them and I tried myself and the option was not available.

I kinda agree with this one. People who play games especially pay to win games cannot afford to wait longer to get their's item. They want to get ahead of the other fast. In that sense with the slow of how the transaction of bitcoin is, it's not practicable enough, Maybe some alt's who dealing with game like GAME or even DGB can step up to this problem, but that's another problem with bitcoin still not getting mainstream attention, yet.

I have yet to use bitcoin as payment for online games, but it's very suitable since they are both online based, all I know is online websites uses paypal and credit card because of the charge back in case there's a complaint, I don't know if it is possible with Bitcoin.

Ok so here is the issue with using bitcoin to pay for online gaming. My wife has been doing so called experiment of sorts if you want to say. She has been using a bitcoin card to pay for her $16.00 monthly subscription. Six months later what should have been $96.00 in cash has costed her like $2000.00 LOL so i would say only do it if you really must.

Currently it's not advisable especially due to the huge transaction fees and so for me i wouldn't refrain from using my bitcoins online for games and other such things that i can easily use my debit card for. It's still soaring up and i wouldn't want to loose out in  any way  and so i prefer to keep than spend currently.

I treat bitcoin as a treasure, a valuable thing. I'm not gonna waste my bitcoin for useless things. I hope that steam platform is not the only that accepting, but bitcoin is also being use as payment for a lot of things and bitcoin is being pay for online shopping. Bitcoin is being use as a payment for betting and bet gaming now. It will be good if it will be possible to pay for online payment and a lot of goods will be buying with bitcoin payment.

yes, it could benefits gamer with this. Infact nothing is impossible now some of us seen bitcoin as a currency. To buy anything we want also bitcoin are now use to top up games. In our exchanger here in philippines the coins.ph has an option if we want to top up in games but in selected games, I think. I don't use my bitcoin as payment for online games but I used my bitcoin to be exchanged into fiat so I can buy food and another thing to fill my daily needs. I think it is not necessary for me to use bitcoin as the payment, especially for online games because I am not playing games anymore. but maybe it is useful for the gamers so they can directly buy in the online game store.
