To be honest, Keepkey is quite expensive and large... and essentially does exactly the same job as the other two...

As for Trezor or Ledger Nano S... the differences between the two aren't really that great, they generally have the same features (if implemented slightly differently)... so I would suggest that your decision will generally come down to personal preference (and most likely price :P)

Price: Trezor €89 vs. Ledger €58
Form Factor: Trezor's Square-ish design with "larger" screen and front mounted buttons vs Ledger Slim USB stick swivel design with side mounted buttons
AltCoin Support: both support most common coins
Colour: Trezor comes in three, Ledger in pretty much one
Availability: can be a bit hit and miss for both... Trezor seems to be slightly easier to buy immediately

Ben over at "BTC Sessions" on Youtube has a fairly decent 3-way review of these hardware wallets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_LcJ3ccV4s

For the record, I own both a Trezor and a Nano S...

Trezor is my hardware wallet of choice, but that's mostly because it was the only game in town back then. Nonetheless I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I guess it mostly breaks down to price, availability and alt coin support. If you're looking to get into alts you should definitely get a look at which alts are supported, lest you get disappointed that the alt of your choice is not available. If you're just going to stick with BTC, either hardware wallet should be fine.

Ledger seems to be a better option! Half the price, same features!

I got 2 nano and I really like them. I just bought to Nano S because on the nano I can't sign a message so I guess it's even going to be better.

I have a KeepKey. Wouldn'd buy it again. The wallet is unsatisfactory, not to say stupid.

On Ledger Nano S and Ledger Blue yes. But you'll probably have to add it as a custom token to MyEtherWallet, lest your token balance won't be displayed.

The Trezor 2 is coming in January. It looks dead cool.

I can't help but wonder what vulnerabilities might yet be uncovered with any hardware wallet. I know it's a long shot but there's always something waiting to be uncovered. With a paper wallet created in the right way there is no attack vector conceivable.

At close to twice the price of the current Trezor (and more than twice a Nano S), I can't say I'm overly enthusiastic about it... Wooo a colour touchscreen ::)

I don't see myself updating from the current one to be honest.

No reason not to own both a Trezor and Nano S. Trezor has the better UI experience while Nano S covers a few more altcoins. You can use a Trezor with one hand using two to press the buttons on a Nano S gets old. KeepKey started as a Trezor fork and never caught on like the other two.

Just curious why do you keep mentioning this whole "one hand vs two hands" thing? ???

It is totally possible to use the nano with one hand... I do it all the time... In fact, I've never used 2 hands to operate the nano:

Hmm, interesting ... I tried and it works (though quite problem to push both buttons simultaneously .... but that just need practice I guess)

When purchased ledger I tried to restore the wallet (to check if the seed works). Even using both hands it was annoying ... doubt you would able do this using one  ;D.

@HCP I own all the hardware wallets I seem to collect them:) The user experience is best for me with Trezor YMMV. I was always leery of KeepKey because they were just a fork of Trezor kind of sleezy making a business off Trezor's work you know? Remember Case hardware wallet that stopped working after a year? Trezor and Ledger are in business for the long haul. I bought one of the original Trezors back in 2014 still works fine.

Digital Bitbox is very good but they don't support the altcoins like Trezor and Ledger Nano S. Claiming your Bitcoin Cash was more complicated with the Bitbox than with Trezor e.g.

I was tempted to get a Digital BitBox... But as mentioned, not much in the way of altcoin support and I had some non trivial altcoin holdings when I was shopping for a hardware wallet.

Might still get one just to try it out... I like the idea of being able to backup to microSD cards ;)

The new Trezor T (https://blog.trezor.io/pre-order-your-new-trezor-model-t-cf2a3426cf03) just put on sale for delivery in Jan 2018 has a microSD slot for data encryption.

And is twice the price :P

To be honest, the "added shiny" isn't really enough to tempt me to get the Trezor T. I'm a big fan of the K.I.S.S. principal... But good on Trezor, I'm sure it'll appeal to the "ZOMG colour touchscreen!!?!" crowd ::) :P

What does concern me... will Trezor run the "only add new coin support to the new device" play? ie. Stop development on the older device? ???

The Trezor T has an advantage over original Trezor due to the new platform which is supposed to make it easier to integrate new coins. While your current Trezor will still work fine you are right, there may be coins that are only supported on the new Trezor T. It has a faster processor and new firmware. I already ordered mine. Consider Ledger no longer supports the Unplugged or original Nano. I find it remarkable that my Trezor from 2014 still works fine. You can't stop progress.

A question about Ledger Nano S:

Can I keep in one device (hardware wallet) several Bitcoin wallets?

Yes... you can add multiple "accounts" within Bitcoin. Each account creates separate and unique addresses from the others and you can label them (and use different colours) to differentiate the accounts from one another.

The balance of each account is separate from the other accounts, and you cannot combine coins from separate accounts into one transaction.

As mentioned previously, you can also use different passphrases to generate completely different wallets, which are also separate from each other, but you can't "see" them together at the same time within the ledger bitcoin wallet chrome app.

i personally will try the digital bitbox since it's security on the hardware side is perfect, meanwhile it's still in development mode which is good because in the future, digital bitbox will support other alts, and it's price will soon be expensive.

when you are very serious on security, you can check out digital bitbox.

I have a Digital Bitbox and don't use it as it only supports bitcoin and ethereum (ETH, ETC and ERC20 tokens.) Original Trezor still has the best user experience. Nano S has only so much memory you can only have four or five coin apps open at a time. I also think Trezor did a great job with making splitting off your BCH and BTG as easy as possible. Support for KeepKey seems to be fading away you still can't directly split BCH and BTG on a KeepKey. Remember Case hardware wallet? They were in business for a year then closed shop; starting to wonder if same will happen with KeepKey.
