As per my knowledge BCC (Bitcoin Cash) is worth trusting to claim the free coins and sell them for a quick buck but what about the BCG (Bitcoin Gold) ? The ones that exist for Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin are forks by other developers who aren't associated with the Electrum project. You should never enter your private keys into a website like this. What web domain did this come from? This looks like a phishing site intent upon stealing your private keys. I don't even think official code or wallet software is published yet. Official news should come from btcgpu.org or https://twitter.com/bitcoingold -- anything else is probably scammers. I don't see anything like the screenshot you posted on their official website's cache. What you should have drawn people attention to is the scam website that claim you can claim your BCG when there is no official release to that. Even Yobit that has come to declare their interest in crediting their customers, you have to wait for nothing less than 70 hours from the time they sent the message. If you are not sure of any site, Yobit has been around for a while, although not suggested to move you coins to an exchange site but its still better than compromising you entire private key. Just send funds there and wait for when its going to be credited.

That is a phishing site! Bitcoin Golds will be active from 25th of October and you will see the coins if you own the private key of the wallet (not from exchange with single specific exceptions). Even if your current wallet doesn't support BitCoin Gold, having the private key you can always load it in the correct one in the future.

I don't think BTC Gold would ask our private key in order to receive their coin. The fork will happen only 25th october and if you have any bitcoin amount in the exchanges, they will let you know when and how much you will receive of BTG, don't be scammed.

Its an unnecessary shitshow, but definitely not a scam ;D It seems like you simply entered in the key wrong, if this interface you are using is legitimate and not a phishing attempt. Make sure the address is formatted correctly; make sure you copied and pasted the right address/copied the whole thing. If this isnt legit, then wake up dammit. Never import private keys to anything other than a wallet; always remember that whoever controls your keys also owns your coins. If you dont mind having your coins hosted, just leave them be on an exchange that will support both sides of the fork. I don't care from where that website is coming from. Even if it comes from the BGold twitter, and assuming BGold team is legit, their twitter could have been compromised to post a phishing website. When it comes to claiming keys in forked chains, downloading the full node client is the only "safe" way to do it, assuming all forksoftware could potentially be a scam. This is not the official website of Bitcoin Gold, you should only hear the information from their official website. 1. If you did not move your bitcoins from original address, you effectively gave them the key to your funds. They could swipe them into any wallet and goodbye. 2. If you have moved you bitcoins to different address, they can still take you btg since you have to trust them with the private key. Not really sure this is a smart move. Op,immediately transfer your bitcoins in to another new wallet. I could even now remember the incident when a guy lost almost his 45 BTC when trying to claim free BCC coins.He just downloaded wallet from a fake website electroncash.com which was previously named as electrumcash.com instead of downloading wallet from the electrum's official website Electrum.org. I agree, we must be more cautious on all sites telling that we can claim free BitcoinGold. Also never trust sites that want to get your private keys. I don't care from where that website is coming from. Even if it comes from the BGold twitter, and assuming BGold team is legit, their twitter could have been compromised to post a phishing website. When it comes to claiming keys in forked chains, downloading the full node client is the only "safe" way to do it, assuming all forksoftware could potentially be a scam. Im not touching BGold until the main node software has been audited, then I will just dump it, if the price is high enough, if not, I will not even bother. I must agree with you. If you know enough to know what your private key is then give it away then you are a moron and it's your own fault. Maybe he also gves strangers the keys to his car to "hold" Noone can get btcgold untill the 1st November as far as I can tell. Not those who had BTC on supported exchanges have some. In situation like this when once and a while new "promising" coin appears scamers just can't wait to take their share. There wouldn't be any problem at all if you're able to do the recommeneded steps on claiming your Bitcoin Gold, and if you're familiar with the steps on claiming BCH then it's essentially the same thing. Also, you said it: there aren't any official wallets yet for the forked coin so why would someone in their right mind try to claim their share of the fork knowing that no official support is out yet?

Post by: GreenBits on October 28, 2017, 12:37:44 AM I would be more wary of this from third party scam artist. the whole concept of bcg or whatever the ticker is feels scammly in itself, but i digress. the legit site has little incentive to pull this; this would be the one way to completely undermine the trust on something that barely has real legs to begin with (before you argue, observe the price, and stop yourself). there will be a grip of people that take advantage of the fact that folks will be entering keys trying to get these coins; be careful community, always be diligent about where you expose the plaintext of your private key. you cant come back from a mistake ;)

There is no well to tell until it is too late if you give out those keys. It is up to you if you want to trust a dev group of strangers with your money. If a total stranger approached you in your bank and said that the bank was moving(say that it is moving) and that they are collecting the deposits for the day to run to the new location, you would never give them your money, but I guarantee that people will here and then be amazed of something happens. |
