Is there any way to destroy the bitcoin?  Not to hack or fake it but completely destroy the system.

Of course there is. The people themselves can do this. Developers do not find a common language with the miners, the users hold the coins and don't want to run them in turn. All this destroys the bitcoin and significantly limits its capabilities. Legalize and attempt to regulate bitcoin can also destroy everything.

Yes. It should be pretty easy for someone like you. All you only need to do is just to locate the switch that on the blockchain network then switch it off and you get your wish without any hacking of faking anything. Just a switch. But that's on a lighter mode removing those things you said, if it had been that easy, you wouldn't even meet anything called bitcoin because that switch would have even been destroyed years back.

It has already been answered a lot of times before.. but yes, there are some ways that bitcoin could be destroyed, the most common way is if all the most important banks decide to spread a massive fud over bitcoin, and this will make the whole market collapse and everybody will enter in panic selling mode, and this will make the price go down by some thousands. And then, some governments will do the same as the banks, and everybody would lost their faith on bitcoin, or almost everyone.

i think to destroy bitcoin is to hack the block chain because that is the core of a cryptocurrency like bitcoin. but is not an easy thing to do since the blockchain is design with high security a cryptic system and it is decentralised that even a government cannot control it.

Just doing a 51% attack and publishing fraudulent blocks will be detected and the network will be able to respond.

I think the easiest way to destroy bitcoin would be to buy all of them but that would be way more expensive than the total market cap. people would figure out whats happening and the price would skyrocket.

Bitcoin seems to be more vulnerable to social engineering and political type of attacks than technical ones. if u are the cia u can maybe arrange the abduction of developers and replacement of them.

Its been shown that it is difficult to achieve consensus in the power centers for a political attack against bitcoin because you would need cooperation from many stakeholders.

You should be prepared to compensate important people for their losses if you are going to destroy bitcoin.

you can have its value dropping by

1- forking too many times, creating shitcoins based on the BTC blockchain, allowing replay attacks, and with premine
2- having internal wars on philosophic views about block size

This is such an awkward question knowing that we want bitcoin to continue its goodness in the world of cryptocurrency. Well, anyway I think technology is the one that is always involved with bitcoin and it is smarter as we think because of the memory that it can be stored throughout the years. But destroying bitcoin really a massive critic and stressful to our part. In connection with the technology, internet is the main source to contact or communicate or access about bitcoin so perhaps, this can worsen bitcoin or be destroyed with that but I hope it won't. Bitcoin is important to our country to make it better economy why keep destroying it?

I think the blockchain ON/OFF switch is located at blockchain.info's headquarters. They are the company that maintains the authoritative blockchain on their centralized servers. They should be pretty easy to locate. Just check their domain registration for their address.

surely there can be nothing eternal, maybe if all human beings on this earth already do not want or do not use bitcoin then bitcoin in sure will be destroyed, or if internet network all over the world die so bitcoin can not walk without internet, but it all not something which is easy and in a short time for all that to happen.

Destroy the nodes and Kill all the internet cable ports ( on the sea). Bitcoin will still be alive but it will not be accessed, then delete all the databases, burn it. DESTROY Bitcoin will be hard. Bitcoin cannot be destroyed because it will still be there ( from different alts from forks derived from Bitcoin source code). DESTROYING THE SYSTEM WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE.

As far as my knowledge is concern, bitcoin can be destroyed by the computer expert just like hackers. Well, i believed to those people behind this kind of investment is already anticipated those bad people. :)

No, you can't. Like, you can't destroy history or its events, unless you destroy all evidence left and all people who remember it.
To destroy Bitcoin at this moment, you would have to destroy all computers that have the Bitcoin blockchain on them.

There is no way but if if the internet has shutdown it might cause of destruction and if many investor stop investing in bitcoin or the best way to desttroy the bitcoin if the war has come! So i hope that war didnot happen becuase many people will die and it can destroy bitcoin.

Honestly, Destroying Bitcoin's System is possible yet it doesn't equal to the death of that system, Bitcoin have been forked for a lot of times producing different altcoins, Bitcoin have been also the pioneer and the primary model of famous altcoins today. Technically speaking, the system will still be alive even if Bitcoin has been destroyed. If there's a way to destroy the system, delete all the cryptocurrency coins and delete their databases + their source code also delete their memory from knowing bitcoin's/cryptocurrency's system.

If only i can relay this question straight to the creator of the alpha of cryptocurrencies, surely he can answer this one but unluckily, he's nowhere to find. I think it's only Satoshi Nakamoto who can destroy the blockchain where this digital coin runs. But why would Satoshi Nakamoto would even do that in the first place? So let's just enjoy the benefits that we can get from it and let's not hope that it will end.

it depends on what way your going to do that, but at the very moment no one can stop bitcoin
although many have tried but in the end instead of fighting the coin, they invest on it

If you want to destroy the bitcoin then you need to make sure that you have a high influence in the community and just like the government where they can easily destroy bitcoin because they got the power for being a leader and a great influence to the people that they have coverage. If they want to destroy bitcoin then they can easily make some bad news or laws that will cause for bitcoin to die.

i think people who make bitcoin as payment for illegal transaction will harm bitcoin. another thing is when you make a scam with the use of bitcoin they will  not trust bitcoin anymore and government is the other one who can destroy bitcoin when they ban it in their country.

Yes. Although destroying Bitcoins isn't logical and quite stupid for someone who is in the crypto world to do, there are really many ways to do so. One is bombing the root of the block-chain literally. Lol.
Another is when goverments decide to prohibit the usage of bitcoins and other cryoto currencies present.
Legalization of bitcoins can also break it. Because with legalization comes with regulation. And if bitcoins and other crypto currencies get regulated, then it means others will lose interest. A lot. Because decentralization isthe most important asset of bitcoin. And without it., Bitcoin will lose morethan half of its supporters including me.

I don't think that you can just easily destroy bitcoin, now that bitcoin is having a great reputation here in cryptocurrency world. Many people rely on bitcoin, for investment or for income. I also don't think that it is a good idea, destroying what most people rely on.

Are you sure about that? I do not think that will ever happen. because basically already too many hackers are trying to hack bitcoins but they can not. There may still be a way to destroy bitcoin, by destroying the entire internet network that exists in the world. So everyone will not look for bitcoin and from time to time the bitcoin will be forgotten and destroyed by itself.

Way back to when it started there are so many questions about destroying bitcoin, so as myself i even asked that too, and yes there is a way, but logically speaking if you are earning in a healthy way and dies have benefits from it, why would you choose to destroy it though? Funny right?

If you can acquire the more than 50% hashing power then I don't see any difficulty in destroying the system. The other way is to delete the block and other records on every computer in the world and that is not practically possible. It is impossible for the virus too even if it is coming from the core version. There is no way to destroy Bitcoin through external tools, weapons or methods.

Possibility is there like shutdown of internet will collapse the whole world and the communication will stop between the countries and there result will be in destroying the bitcoins similarly the miner themselves can stop to deliver the bitcoins so in such scenario bitcoins will destroy.

Yes. If the super nations attempted to control bitcoin or legalize bitcoin it could potentially destroy bitcoin because it will defeat its purpose. Bitcoin is supposed to be decentralized. Also, huge power players can move against it by buying lots of it and messing up with its value. I know the banks will be affected by the rise of bitcoin because people will begin withdrawing their money from the banks and buying bitcoin instead. The cash flow will hurt the banks and they will retaliate. But I think the people will protect bitcoin.

Yes bitcoin can be destroy in so many ways, what if the internet is turn off the existence of bitcoin is gone. And also bitcoin can also be destroy by the developer's them self's and the government can put an ene to all bitcoin activities there by leading to it total destruction.

If the whole internet suddenly goes dark and then all the holdings of bitcoin that you have saved no matter the amount can be instantly turned into oblivion. OR if the whole system resets or reboot due to a major change in the internet and digital systems then there is a great chance this would be adversely affected.

I don't think there is an instant way to destroy Bitcoin completely and I don't either think that the great founder Satoshi Nakamoto created something like a self destruction program with Bitcoin. Hacking it will I think take hundreds or even thousands of years just to make it disappear. But yeah those are just my opinion though I am not a programming expert and I am just a total noob in terms of computer technology. Bitcoin is a community driven investment asset so I think it is in the hands of it's users and supporters. If the community stops supporting Bitcoin and no one's using or holding it then it will probably crash or lost it's value.

I don't think we can destroy Bitcoin. Because it exists on Blockchain system. No one can control it. Unless Internet is disappeared. I don't think it will happen.

bitcoin has a high level security system, and this is probably more heavily than the world's security system, but nothing is impossible, because it's all man-made, and whatever is created by humans, it's certainly a weakness that will probably be one blame, which can be entered by a certain person

I don't think that there's a way to destroy the bitcoin because how they will hack it if it is secure? I think that even they going to hack it or fake it, they can't do it. But if there are a professional hacker he/she will have a way to destroy this, he can find a way to hack it even if this site is a secure system.

It will be very difficult. The Bitcoin network consists of thousands of computers and devices that are running full nodes. < software that contain the protocols and the Blockchain > If you can stop people from running this software, you would effectively "kill" Bitcoin.

I do not know if it is not by way of hack, but by way of hack can also destroy the bitcoin completely. I often hear great hacker stories, if they want to destroy bitcoin I'm sure they can just do it. If the hacker intends to be very evil, they could do it. But I'm sure we all do not want that to happen.

I think it is not that much easy as people think about it because in the beginning you may threat a currency but when a currency become very popular and famous it can’t be destroyed easily because first you will to have decrease the interest of the people toward this and then the demand of this currency will fall in the crypto currency market and after that bitcoin will face huge threat.

Yes, the bitcoin creators must have known also how to end bitcoin. There are also possible circumstances that may happen that can destroy bitcoin like the use of bitcoin being banned worldwide but the possibility that it would happen is very small and near to impossible.

Well I agree with you there are a lot of ways to destroy bitcoin but as you said when a government stop use of bitcoin but here I have also a question that why any government can do so bitcoin is acutely going to play a big role in economy of any country and bitcoin have also reduce unemployment in many countries so I don’t think so any government can take action against bitcoin.

If internet in the world shutdown their service then also bitcoin will be destroyed. but this thing is impossible. If there is a god hacker that can cracked private keys of wallets I think bitcoin will downfall to the stage that it will lose the value and will completely destroy the cryto world.

Every system has its flaws all that you have to do is to exploit it to completely destroy it or its credibility. In bitcoins case is its security and the block chain, if by any chance someone would be able to ( which is more likely almost impossible maybe for computers today. ) to hack wallets through brute force then bitcoin will lose investors and users that will result to the downfall of its market value then  maybe it will completely destroy bitcoin which I hope will not happen.

Yes there is a way to destroy the bitcoin, and this happened once but the bitcoin was not destroyed. If some of the bitcoin producer would have 51% of the bitcoin production this could be the end of the bitcoin. This happened at the beginning of bitcoin when some bitcoin producing company had 51% of the bitcoin production for one-two weeks. They could have destroyed the bitcoin network, but they did not.

Well that's far from happening again today and i think you would have to remove the internet to entirely destroy bitcoin. We're looking at a revolution here that can push the way we do transactions further  than to how we deal today and bitcoin is at the forefront of it

yes of course it is the primary responsibility of each government to regularize the crypto currencies in their concerned country so I think that no way to destroy bit coin because it will be very beneficial for each government.

i think there is no such way to destroy bitcoin if it was possible then those countries who have banned bitcoin in their country will have destroyed bitcoin but its not possible.bitcoin is very safe and no one can affect the rate of bitcoin and it is more expected that bitcoin will become the international currency in the future.

Since bitcoin is a system and it is anonymous and now bitcoin is continuously rising and make popular i think there is no way to destroy bitcoin. As of now many investor and bitcoin user are protecting it because bitcoin now is a big asset and source of income that why they are trying to protect bitcoin and they are not allow to destroy bitcoin.

There is probably a way to destroy it. Specially if the creators decided to do so. They can possibly shut down and delete all the data about bitcoin if they would really want to. Or maybe, if the internet was cleared or shut down or if the data is lost. It is also possible that there will be a new cryptocurrency that will replace it or destroy it. Bitcoin can never replace real money!

Why a goverment will give up of real money that they can produce at any time in any quantity for a limited hard to get virtual thing owned by privates 100% internet dependent? And to get this thing from privates the goverment has to pay what? Real money of course!

Bitcoin is artifically hold up. If you are here to speak for real each 24 hours between 200.000 and 350.000 transactions are registered on blockchain. This mean at least 150.000 unique people but no more than 700.000 unique people are involved in btc transactions once at 24 hours.

The number of people that transact btc in 24 H is way much smaller than the people using real money comparing even to the poorest country in the world.

For something with a value given based on its amounts of trades this is a bad thing!

Another bad thing about bitcoin is the fee. Most of the bitcoin transactions daily are under $10000. Today 31/10/2017 to send $10 in btc you have to pay $3.5 transfer fee for a proper transfer confirmation time.

Another bad thing about btc is it's limited amount! Why? Simple! Big players can sequestrate the market and play to much with the price. Something like that happen's nowdays. I see everywhere advices to hold the coins!

Why to do that? To help big players control more of the market? You are not making any money unless you know for sure when big drops will happen. this affect badly the most of small traders when a price drop bigger than $1000 happens.

Let's assume this:

A big player win/win scenario:

1. Buy 10.000 coins at $5000 and hold until $8000
2. Sell 5000 coins at $8000
3. Finally he got like 80% of the money back and still have 5000 coins.
4. Price drop again because big player made a lot of coins available for sale in the market.
5. Remaining 5000 coins can be hold until $2000 per coin and the big player is still even.

A small trader win or loss scenario:

1. Buy 2 coins at $5000 and hold until $10.000 (as they expect at least double payout)
2. Price get to $8000. Will not sell waiting for $10.000.
3. Big player will sell at $8000
4. Finally small trader is very lucky if he gets his money back. Of course it can wait for another price rise but big player loop is going on and they always try to break the price boundaries.

As far I can see the prices fast rise and drop happens systematically!

Asia and Russia had already announced state run crypto currency. This is a good thing for the moment even for bitcoin because more people will become familiarized with crypto but step by step bitcoin will be replaced by state run crypto all over the world.

Since 51% of the btc transactions happens in asia once the crypto asean is out we can easilly say bye bye to btc.

Why I strongly believe the state run currencyes will be more successfully than btc? Simple. Low fees of transaction. More legal and secure ways of transaction. Fast way of transaction. availability. 100% gov backed currency! Everybody trust and love gov backed currency! If is not so then why everybody ask gov issued money for their coins? They should ask cows as payment! ;)

Maybe since bitcoin is digital currency. That means bitcoin is internet based and anyone can hack it, especially when your account does not have a security code. There is an attack that has been discussed more for Proof of Stake currencies, but is also possible with Proof of Work currencies like Bitcoin. It is so deadly that you will need billions of dollars or a hard fork to stop it.

If I were the US Government and had co-opted the "core" Bitcoin dev team, you know what I'd do? I am not an expert of this technology but as far as I know there is no way can destroy it. If you want to destroy it you need to destroy thousands or even millions of personal computers worldwide where the ledger is stored. Bitcoin is forever.

Yes this is one of the most effective way of killing or destroying bitcoin,  but i am thinking,  just like on stock market,  the stock price is gling doen for some reason such as fraud or issue about the company,  I personally experienced dropping value of certain coin because of the law case against its company.  The tendency is the major holder withdraws his share just to be safe making coins value drop and other people go in panic selling.

Bitcoin can not be destroyed, neither cracked or something.
The only thing that can really happen, is to see private keys cracked, that is more than possible if all those quantum computers start cracking them.

No. Cryptocurrencies cannot be destroyed. They are code running on computers. As long as someone keeps running a wallet, has a backup of the wallet and perhaps even a backup of the blockchain every once in a while, your node will keep the system running. There needs to be at least one wallet and one miner. If only a single miner were mining a cryptocurrency, its difficulty would become low enough to allow the miner to mine the proper amount of blocks, regardless of the power of his miner.
