Title: Is DogeCoin even worth buying?
Post by: vkitaebiz on October 30, 2017, 02:08:34 PM
I see a large amount of sell orders for DogeCoin, and from the looks of the Bear charts, DogeCoin looks like a dying currency. If I was looking for a "long-term" currency, DogeCoin is the one I would avoid...?   ???

Interested to hear the community's thoughts on this?

Dogecoin will always be around.  It has a small tight knit community that actively uses it.  The original developer of doge has moved on to other things though, so don't think there is any real development on it.

For investment, I don't think this is one to put money into.  And along those lines, does every coin need to be profitable?
I think it's nice that there is a group of people who actually use their coin instead of thinking of $$$$$.

If I could time machine myself back to the early days of bitcoin, I think it would be exciting to actually use btc to buy a pizza, the ultimate proof
that crypto can actually be used for real life situations.

who can say... the original dev was a clown who once he exited said it was all just for a laugh and seems to have turned quite negative on crypto in general. Hopefully it will sky rocket now he is out.

Works well at being a crypto currency though doesnt it. Just lacks adoption.

It can rise quickly, but this is only a small possibility.

Not a great long term investment, it's pretty stagnant at the moment.

I think worth less, dogecoin can be considered as a substitute for ethereum to send to various exchange if you are a trader. Because the fee is low but for investment it seems less good

of course it is dying,

it was created to sell the premine to idiots and now the last one leaving it will loose the most

because those that created it and sold the premine already created other coins (litedogie, ripple, electroneum and so on)

stay away from short term oriented cryptocurrencies. we will see this happening much more dogiecoin is just an example,

DOGE's good for short term and day trading purposes but if you are planning to buy it and holds it for a long term basis, no and better find some other low valued coins that has real developer and legit projects on the process. I have invested in DOGE and actually I'm just using it for gambling and when I see some good + on it within the day I'm trading it. Be careful not to hold this coin.

At this moment, don't even bother with such a joke worthless coin, there are way more altcoins to invest in.
But he last news i heard was that core dev have given up on the project, and there won't be any more development.
There is no chance that this coin is going to see an increase in numbers but, just like any other cryptocurrency, DogeCoin will keep exisiting, but no one will care.

It could get adopted if a small group of people actually started seriously working on the coin. But until that happens it's just an old meme.

what is to do about it?

there is nothing that can be done except spreading misinformation.

the future will be as it is supposed to be currencies that have a double entry bookkeeping of the banker that have issued and created it and takes responsibility for it.

Doge coin is not good to buy anymore, its out of volume of investors you only waste your money of you buy this coin, there are many great altcoin to buy just do a research to know what coin should you buy and also it is depending on your capital. Much better if you have big capital you must divided it into 3 to 5 altcoin to lessen the risk of your money.

I mean anything could happen since we are so young in crypto yet. But I suggest looking into other alts that provide more promise and have a lower marketcap. This will help to get the best return on your investment.

If 'long-term' and 'currency' are the key words here you could buy doge. I mean, it's not going to sky but it probably will be around after couple of years and you can use it as a currency, at least in some communities ( =reddit) Seen that way, it could be more stabile than some random new coin.

Every crypto currency has it's unique own way to promote their currency and each are relying on their core team, devs & marketing and most of all investors. If the value of the coin is descending after time then some investors were trying to sell their shares as early as possible and I think that's Dogecoin's case this time. But I don't believe it will going to die in the wild because there are also investors that are willing to risk the when the Core team will change their battle plan maybe they will recover and get back to track again.
Crypto currency is really hard to maintain but without the efforts of the core team and everyone's contribution then they'll end up losing everything.

Not always but Yes.

dogecoin is one of those altcoins that has nothing going on, specially in the long term. this coin, just as you guessed has a huge supply and like ethereum it doesn't have a cap. this means a growing supply and a dropping price in long term.

but at the same time dogecoin is known for having very good rallies. and during these rallies or pumps the price rises a lot. and because of small price of Doge you can make a lot of profit from these pumps.

Doge has a strong support line at 15 sats, If you have an iron balls you can play with Swingtrade, the price actually pump and dump between 17sats to 21sats. Current price is 18sats. If you want to get profit, swingtrade by buying at 16 to 17sats, and sell it 19sats. Easy 11% profit.

Instead of the stagnant and technologically outdated DogeCoin, invest in RaiBlocks (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/raiblocks/) which is a promising alternative. It features almost instant and zero fee transactions. Its low market cap indicates that it can only rise.

Dogecoin is not mean to be a good coin if you are talking about growth. Basically, it has not much development and everyone is just treating dogecoin as an entertainment tool. However, because of that, it is actually quite a great coin to buy and use it.

Dogecoin is stable coin but is only for tipping(especially on reddit). So we can hope but not sure dogecoin price will increasing. Now we have dogecoin for gambling so much: Bitsler, Duckdice, 999dice,... etc. And they have a huge dogecoin because of decreasing price base Bitcoin. At May-2017, Doge/BTC is 118 satoshies but now only ~20 satoshies and dogecoin price is easy to mining so that the price can rising hardly.
About OP question, i think dogecoin worth to buying, but what for? Invest or Gambling?

If you believe it will be pumped again then go for it.
Buy lots of doge coins and maybe one day we will see it again above 100 satoshi.
I don't believe in doge coin and I think that coin should be already dead, but I also like to follow market and I think it can go up.

One of the best use cases of Doge coin is to convert whatever coin you have on an exchange into Doge coin and transfer them to your wallet or to your

Other exchanges accounts when some wallets are in maintenance, because of the Doge coin price being somehow stable, you would lose less than what

You could lose by waiting for the wallet to become available on the exchange again. some times when Doge is @20sat you could find some other place

Buying @21sat, so it's not completely useless mate.

Dogecoin is a coin without development, and should be abandoned by the exchanges.

I don't think that way. Because, very many exchangers still put Doge on list, so it's clear doge still worth. If not optimistic to hold, we can still use to speculate in market.

I believe that it's worth buying,  Dogecoin is a highly secure cryptocurrency, and its dedicated community helps to ensure that it remains a medium of exchange as opposed to a short-term investment. Its value has also remained fairly stable, although it was affected by the recent cryptocurrency crash along with almost every other cryptocurrency. The main concern with Dogecoin is its extremely low per-coin value, which stems in part from the extremely high coin supply. As a community of forward-thinking cryptocurrency enthusiasts, Dogecoin stands out as a welcoming and lighthearted group. As a serious financial investment, it lacks value. Overall, though, the monetary risk of trying Dogecoin is incredibly low.

Many people are investing in dogecoins as Dogecoin's business directory boasts over 200 companies that accept it as a form of payment. Dogecoin also has an enthusiastic and committed user base, and holders of the currency have engaged in several charity campaigns to help establish its legitimacy.Under the hood, Dogecoin is essentially a proof-of-work currency. Dogecoin's main technological difference is its hashing algorithm – the code it uses to create the difficult math problems that power its proof-of-work scheme. Dogecoin uses an algorithm called Scrypt, which is designed to require more computing power to run than the traditional SHA-256 algorithm. Scrypt was originally introduced in the hopes that it would break the dominance of users running specialized hardware to monopolize mining, but it turns out that Scrypt can be run on specialized hardware as well, so that benefit has been negated. The main advantage of a Scrypt-based cryptocurrency today is that many of these currencies allow "merged mining" with other compatible currencies. This means that users of one Scrypt-based cryptocurrency can compete to verify transactions on multiple different currency networks at once without having to expend more processing power.

I don't think so. Based on recent trends and studies, dogecoin has a very low value and very stagnant. Maybe that's the reason why its called the "joker coin". Some studies also says that it is a dying coin. You have dogecoin as a cryptocurrency but it would be worthless investing it. Also avoid buying a lot of it because its value is very low. Of course it will increases its value but you need to wait for a very long time. You can use it as an exchange rather than an investment because of its very low transaction fee. Try to look for another profitable altcoin by doing some research and reading trends and news.

Has anyone noticed that dogecoin made a good rise in the last few days? it made more than 15% in just 28 hours, that is amazing, maybe it is not an incredible rise because doge is very, very low right now, and 15% means nothing, but it is good to see that it is slowly recovering from the huge dump that it had before.
But if i am honest, it is never going to recover at all, doge is dead, no matter what, there is no way that it could go down again.

Being a day trader, I'm only for the profit and I don't think that all short term currencies tend to lose all the time. If you are a trader that is depending on daily profit then you can't say that it's a terrible thing for trading purposes if you are earning with DOGE and with any other coins that you are generalizing. Are you just holding your coins for a longer time?

What is the use of tipping someone when there is no value at all,i think there is nothing wrong in investing some money in it for the long term as i used to see some movement every year and with the price of doge so low,you could grab some at this moment and hold for some time and sell off when the price rises,it will be more profitable that rest of the investments in my opinion if its rises. ;)

It is not so good for investment. But you can still actually make some profit from Dogecoin. You just need to enter with the right timing and leave at the perfect time as well. There is not much sense holding Dogecoin with a medium or long term target. However, it is widely used until now. If you think this coin is going to die soon, you are probably wrong about it because Doge is still backed by a big body of followers who like the way it has maintained its small value, which is good for tips and other similar transactions.

I recently bough some neo, after the china will lift the ban it will moon like crazy. Chinnise coins are good to go. Also metaverse it is a copy of neo, also good coin. in my opinion, dogecoin is worth to buying and even for just investing for a long term because as we can see the dogecoin is too famous among the big player. although for now the dogecoin price is not too high, but if the price is high even for 1 satoshi, we can make huge profit especially if the price is increase 2 times. we can waiting for the price is increase and i think its still worth for us to be patience for a while. so i think its better if we can buy while the price is still cheap.

I am not really interested in dogecoin now, the coin is as old as bitcoin bu the price is far from the popularity. That's bad news that the price now drop to 20-16 satoshi, If the case continue, next two or three monthns can be 10 satoshi. I think there is nothing to invest in it. There are more ICOs that are legit and profitable in the near future. I know many ICOs are worthless but some are good.

And of course there are some bots in the market, that is the case for literally every asset that can be accessed via an API.

There are more transactions being done with doge than with bitcoincash, which means people are definitely using doge. It seems to be popular on the gambling sites (because people don't mind losing doge!) and popular for moving money with low fees.

Walton coin is also a strong buy for me, they are realsing wallet somtime soon so they are worth watching.
Thats right. after all the price change on dogecoin tends to go down and does not give a great surprise ? if you just want to trade it might be better if you are looking for another coin that more potential. because I think this coin already has no great future like the price many times fold in the future. I will not use my bitcoin to invest in doge

It doesn't appear to have active development any more which is a bit of a red flag investment wise but the community is still strong

Surprising it has managed to remain in the top 50 considering most other coins ended up with basically zero value that weren't being actively worked on from around then

May get picked up by a new development team one day

It's very likely Doge sees another rise at some point in the future, when that is is anyone's guess.  The community support is still there for it so there is no real reason for it to randomly die off.  Buy it, go long, and check on it again sometime in the future when it's 5x.

Nah it seems for Dogecoin I personally haven't been able to see or can't be ensure that this coin will be able to moving higher again next time. And it really does looks Dogecoin so far really can't show its bright shine, maybe the investors are also so far not interested in this coin. But not close the possibility at another time Dogecoin could be showing the price movement to more higher, well sometimes also often what we did not presumed.. it can be happening. I think it's worth if we want to buy and can be used as a long term investment, who knows this will be profitable.
