newbie question whats more profitable for you trading daily(5% gains) or trade for a weeks like you hold the coin for days or weeks until it price goes up 100%-800%?

It is so simple! Just try both and see what works for you.

No one can give you a definite answer to that and as long as you are comfortable with whatever decision you make, then you are good to go. Also, there are already so many questions like this even on page 1 of Trading Discussion thread and next time you can just read through what every one said and make your decision based on that.

So true be a man and make decissions for yourself for a good invest and long term waiting for it bitcoin is the right choice for OP. Though if you want fast money you should do trading fast while its still valuable.

It depends on how much profit you are generating from each trade. Usually day trading will result in more profit since there are many currencies that skyrocket in a day and then dump the other day. Recently there was a surge in altcoins like ETH, LTC, DASH etc.. where the price increased in hundreds and then dumped the other day. According to me you should hold a coin until and profit and then dump it when it begins to crash.
If you are getting 5% daily gains then that is seriously a good trade and you must continue with it.

It is better to trade for longer distances and for news! It's more stable there.

If you have time then the surfing will be more profitable when you hold long. You do not know anything about surfing I think you should hold some coin long will be better for you.

On my opinion, i think trading depends on the %profit that you will get from it. You cannot predict bitcoin's price so its hard to decide whether to go with one day or a week trading. If you really want to trade, check on the price first, then do trading. If the price is low, buy bitcoin, then sell when its price goes up. But see to it that you will have a good profit from it.

what weeks ? 2 weeks ? 20 weeks or what ?
there are only day trade(short trade),mid trade and long trade.
in my opinion doing a daily trading and weekly trading are totally same,because it's only around 7 days or around that.
(let assume that we're doing a 7 days trade or 1 week trade compared to daily trade)
so which one is more profitable between one and another ? it's all depend on your strategy and that coin itself.
also,wait for 100~800% increase in a week time ? i do not think so mate.
it's not that simple and the market will not move that way,
if people know the price will be pumped for more than 2x from its average price,
they will choose to hold it for a week and then sell it right away.

before get that kind of movement we need to pass many cycle,
first of all we need to pass the accumulation phase,that time the price will be surpressed a lot by the whales.
and then we will see a bulltrap after accumulation phase and then pump phase.
so for me both of them are same.

If you have high capital then I think it's better for day trading. But then if you want to just hold and wait then it's also good when you have other side jobs to buy your daily needs. I'm also day trading but I trade other currencies and do all my withdrawals in bitcoin so all profits go directly back into Bitcoin and hold it for a while.

Don't compare it. Instead do what you think will give you more profit. Generally and obviously, aside from bitcoin, we have different set of coins in our portfolio.

Remember that all cryptos have different behaviour in terms of price and volume therefore we have different way on how we will treat our coins whether is it good for day trading or much better if it will goes to long term hodling. the best thing to know : when to keep your strategy , and when is better to be flexible and work with an other strategy
and these is so important because some time the market is so cloudy
and you should be out of the market even if you were a day trader
and some times you are a week trader but you should collecte your profits the day of entry

Its hard to predict the huge pumps like 200% or 500% you might even have to wait for more than a year to get those return but it is quite risk free form of trading ideal for newbie traders.

Short term or day trading is quite risky but it is also rewarding, price of almost every altcoins + bitcoin fluctuates by more than 5% everyday so if you can just read the charts and market trend you can make good profit in short period but you can also loss more than 50% if market suddenly crashes or pumps hard.

It depends on what coin that you trade, if you trade on bitcoin, I prefer trading daily with bitcoins. Because the price of bitcoin is always changed every minutes right now. I think I can earn 1-10% daily by trading only from bitcoins. Weekly trading is good for altcoins.

I'd rather have a daily 5% increase on my profits rather than waiting for a week in order to generate 100% without any of the slightest guarantees that you'll hit it. Any gain is still a gain in profit and money, so I'd take the chance on taking it no matter how small it is rather than waiting for something that has no guarantees that it will even manifest. Also, if it works on somebody doesn't mean it will also work on your strategies. If you're already benefiting from either of the two methods, stick to it and improve it.

It totally depends on which coin your are choosing,coins like bitcoin which are very old and stable can be hold for longer period of time for great profit and if you are investing in new coins like OmiseGo,Stark,Dash,ETH,you have to be very smart as well as quick with selling as this kind of coins can easily be increased as well as crash so you can do day trading with them.On that if you get 5% profit daily that's impeccable should be continued.

if you're newbie, don't try to do daily trading, it's quite hard to gain the profit, moreóver you dont know how to choose a good coin. it's potentially high risk, you better do long investment term. because it will be more profit to you. you can start by trade for week.

You are talking about five percent gains like if they were so easy to make.

If someone is able to make a few trades of more than 5% with a full balance of $100k, he could be millionaire in a few weeks.

You need to know that you are never going to have the same profit, so you must always calculate your income just by a promedium.

I tried both of them this year, short term trading is more active compared to weeks long trade. This means, it's easier to make 3% 5% type of profits in short term. You should try it first and then longer terms.

All them are profitable but it all depend on your preference and the size of your capital. If your capital is minimal you will be conscious of  the limited fund and will be exiting trade earlier out of fear but if you have enough capital you will be in a market for weeks and generate more profit.

I will say that daily trading could be very profitable but also very risky. It takes time and skills and if you are brend newin that you might have difficulties. Trading on a weekly basis is very similar and there is no receipe for success so try to get some knowledge first and collect some informations from trusted sources. If trading was so easy then everyone would have been millionaires by now. Trust me, it's harder than you think.

I agree with you. For altcoins suitable to sit in positions for a week. You can get good movement and profit over 50% in few days.

Now a days so many people do day trading and most of the people do weekly trading. I think weekly trading is a very good for trading. It all depends on your mindset and psychological approach to the trading. But Being a beginner, I always recommend you to go for Short-term trading where you need to hold the crypto coins for weeks or even months if you are getting some good chunk of profit. And once you mastered the art of trading you can slowly learn the day trading by trading it on small scale.

We cannot exactly say which is better between the two, but it depends on your plans and goals in trading Bitcoin. If you are satisfied with your income then just do what makes you happy and profitable. Important thing is that you are earning and learning from Bitcoin trading. In my opinion, it is better to hold for a long term because for me that is very profitable because there's no series of fees when buying Bitcoin or altcoins. Since, the price and demands are keep on rising so there's a possibility to make your investments double. Better to invest now in Bitcoin because you will never know that the price will sets its record for the highest price again and again.

I think day trading is riskier than holding also the profit isn't big. I prefer to trading long time and emotionally remain stable because it isn't affected by price movements everyday.

in my experience the only thing that is more profitable is what you can do best.
for example you may find trading stocks better than trading bitcoin, someone else may find trading stocks and making profit impossible thing to do.

and for day trading, if you know how to do it and have the necessary tools and the required experience to match it, then you can be successful in it. there is no real magic solution, all you need is experience in this job.

for me it depends on the movement of the coin , if the coins movement is very fast everyday it is better to trade eveyday so you still have a profit , unlike weekly it looks like you will earn weekly that you can earn for a day so for me it is better to trade daily but some sort of weekly trade is good due to fees .

Even on weekly basis wont really give you an assurance that most coins will hit up 100-800% because most of the time they do only reach out even more lower as expected but still a good gain if you did able to get out with profits.It wont really matter if it would be a day trade or weekly trade,It would just really depend on the situation if we do see its the right time to pull out then just do it and secure profits.

There are coins to tarde daily and other ones need to trade after weeks or months because their price is expected to rise highly in long term. But choosing such currencies or tokens need a good experience about trading and it is not an easy mission.

It really depends on the coin, but if you want, you see it yourself what could be profitable to you, for me week trading is good for as long as you still  look every day at the price of the coin you are investing at. You also have to set your own strategies and of course you can do that though your own experience.

Which one more profit depend on what you do on each method.
With trading, if you can read chart, analysis price, predict price... then this will make more profit.
With holding, if you choose the right coins, analysis news... then this will make more profit.

Yup which coin you are going to trade is important and also don't choose shitcoin to make a quick profit. These coins once dump it won't come up. Use only reputed coins to do trading. Making a daily profit, i think very risky and not sure you can make profit daily. But weekly we can expect some profit.

I buy cheap coin in the market for long term holding and wait the right time for that cheap coin to gain the price in the  in enough percent increase, but i go to day trading risky but have a chance to get profits everyday more or least percent interest enough to my instinct, remember knowledge and strategy in the day trading is very important if want to gain your profits in quick time.

In my opinion will more profitable trade for aweeks because many altcoin can going up until 500% in amonth, but we should be learn the fundamental of each coin. Day trading in addition to requiring a full time time, should also really have a skill about technical analysis, and because always full time in the front of the chart this causes trader become more emotional.

Actually there is no significant amount of profit you can earn in a specific span of time. It depends on what type of trading are you more comfortable with. Why not try the two options and see it for yourself. Just start small and assess yourself what do you prefer. Take note that it doesn't a;ways mean the longer the time frame the higher the profit. In my opinion, it is not important how often do you trade. the most important is that what time you catch the top of the price. So, with each coin, you have to choose the own strategy

I think holding for the long term is what my choice. We all know the profits from long term holding as we experienced with the legend coin like Bitcoin and ETH. They are all time high and are not stopping at all but juts pumping like crazy now a days. Now there is no point in entering into their trades because we will not cover that much profits as one would get who held it since long time ago or may be just a year ago. :-)

Thats the strategy which work with popular coins, the coins with huge market capitalism and thus the gains are 100% for long term holding. I am sure that day trade also works for many people but that is not my choice and it really needs time to keep tracking the market for 24 hours or so. Thought here are automated trades available but we can't always rely on them. So its better I choose the long term holding.

That really depends on the coin which I am trading. If I am using ETH or BTC then I will most probably be happy doing day trades and gain those 5% plus profits because these coins actually have ability to move that much in single day. If you consider coins like XRP, IOTA etc which are at the top for todays timestamp, then you can't rely on them to get gain as much as 5% or more in a day. They don't just move like that and hence we should not choose them for the daily trades. Instead of that such coins are always suitable for the long term. Where you can get the boost of 100X or so slowly but steadily. :-)

Its your own set of strategy both are good but knowing which is better would be depend with the trader itself, we do have our owned approach regarding to crypto trading those who enjoyed shorting are people who have a lots of time in front of their computers while those who doesn't have only bought coin which they can hold for some time and set the price that they wanted to sell it.

It fully depend on you. If you have enough patience and enough time to check and analyze crypto market then you can go day trading. But by day trading you can't get a lot of profit. If you trade long time, you can get huge profit. Though there are some risk.

I am not a professional trader. But I'll tell you my opinion. First, weekly trading it is less nervous emotionally easier. For a beginner, the longer the period, the easier and less risky it is to trade. Day trading requires more skills and knowledge of tools.

If you are a beginner, chances are, you will "over trade" and will actually suffer losses than profit. I suggest you study a bit more about the market, then if you are confident enough, try both and see which one works best for you.

The answer is actually simple, but the implications are not.

A) The smaller the timeframe on which you trade, the faster profits can compound and as a result the more profitable the style will inherently be.
B) The smaller the timeframe, the more difficult it will actually be to be a profitable trader with regards to technical competence while the fees will also nerf your gains significantly.

So... if you're a beginner, for the love of god, do not attempt trading at a fast timeframe, you'll be absolutely destroyed, it takes most people years of trading before they even get to the point that they're no longer losing money, and I know you of course wish to be the exception to this rule and perhaps you will be and the best advice I can give you is to avoid any timeframe under 4 hours until you've at least been actively trading for half a year or more.

This means that, yes, you won't be pushing orders on a daily basis, and yes, it means trading will not be very exciting, but it's a lot more exciting to make money than losing money. Once you've got a decent amount of experience and a solid sample size indicating that you're beating the market, I'd consider progressively challenge the faster timeframes, although after some time you might realize that you're simply going to be better off keeping your battlegrounds on the higher timeframes anyways. 

It would depend on your skill level in trading and your knowledge in choosing good coins to hold on to.

Finding your interest will answer your question OP, doing a day trade and successfully deal with it will bring a huge profits for you, while
dealing with weekly trading and gain much bigger if you are anticipating huge pumped, its hard to make a perfect assessment but if
you got good ideas then its possible to do so.

You wont really know on which field you would really be effective because people do have different skills and capabilities on doing trading which we should really need to try on both field and tell the difference and you would really notice on what kind of trader you are which you do saw that you are making even more money. Either on day trading or on long term trading.

I have an opinion that long-term trading is more profitable than day trading, but it is not impossible for day trading to make a big profit, it's just that we should really choose the right time to buy and sell.

The best way to realize this is to make a simulation on paper... I already know the answer. HODL! Try to see how much you would have earned by doing 6month/1year hold!
I made a lot of mistakes! Just to put it one... 33 million XVG sold at 1000$ a year and a half ago.

Well if you are good enough to make 5-10% every day it is definitely more profitable as you will be able to earn 300% a month. But we are not too experienced for this and to combine both holding and daily trading is the best strategy 

Are there people making more money daytrading as oppose to holding?  Imagine a coin drops then goes back up to same price a few times.  The holder would not make anything.  The trader would right?

I think Daily trading is more profitable than weekly trading because some coins are increasing or decreasing their prices at a short period of time.

I think no one can say exactly what's more profitable.but both of that is good profitable if you try.trading is so risky to predictbut then again,to do day trading is depend on you're skill if how you're strategy is working.make some learn on you're strategy if its working or not.

It depend how much is you fast in your work some people are using bitcoin as apart time and some people are using bitcoin as a full time so it depend on you if you want to earn on daily base so it think daily base trade is better than weekly trade and I will prefer day trade instead of weekly trade because from day trade you can earn fast and it can help you in your daily expanse but weekly base trade is also not bad.

Trading is a shit, i dont know why there is still people doing trading, it is not profitable anymore, just buy coins and hold them for a few days/weeks/months, that is the only way in that you could earn a decent amount of money.

I prefer trading for weeks as I oberve the market I realize much of the pump happens after 5-6 days then suddenly fluctuates and drop and I think this is how the cycle goes. I also try trading using this technique and it really works for me. Majority of the coins pump and dump almost every day but at certain point they will pump hard and that's the opportunity to trade and earn well.

Either you do day trading or you’re intended to choose weekly trading, you need to think on this factor. You just said it so well that shitcoins shouldn’t be having any place in your trading. If such coin comes in your trading or investing, believe me you will be just screwed up. When I do day trade, I like to exploit mass hysteria like the "homeland security" momentum plays a few weeks back. Otherwise, I trade the QQQ mechanically and look for price/volume breakouts on specific equities. I believe strongly trending (in one damn direction) days are suitable for swing trading. ;D

as of now trading truly hurts due to the down of price everyday and no pump was happen so it is better to hold your coin until the pump will happen again and i think you can earn from it even a little or more .
