I was told that the rigs were given to this person to "feed their family" and that if there were any problem with the rig that a full refund would be given. Further, I was told that Elizabeth's brother, Ram, would follow up with any details. The deal that was agreed to was the $400 LTC deposit and balance on receipt of $1600 in LTC to the same address.

A few hours after this interaction, Ram contacted me and began what was to be a 12 hour interrogation via text (yes, it felt like one) about any issues HE had with the information that was being requested to confirm before the rig was shipped. I was offered and pushed to purchase more than one rig many times  because, "Ok good, someone is looking to buy the other two. Are you wanting it still as we want to get rid of it. We can ship them all together which only equal 30 pounds and we save money on shipping. Or I can sell it to someone else definitely up to you." I declined more than once.

After all the requests for information, being called a liar time and again (this is a crypto transaction - I sent money and expect a product, no BS - but apparently this is lost on the seller(s)) I requested my LTC back - as I was told originally by Elizabeth that if there were any problems I could get a full refund, and was told by Ram, "Non refundable, but that’s not the point
I’m asking for your username, Just want to clear my suspicion." HIS suspicion? They had my username from the forum, they had my LTC, they had my shipping address, they had my phone number.

My own concerns, of course - possibly stolen rigs being fenced - were suppressed by Ram as crazy talk, "You seem delusional do you need help? Please take this to the forums, she has all the proof for the rig." Why would I be concerned that they are offering to sell rigs for what amounts to 50% off the going rate? I wanted proof of ownership or proof of transfer before taking possession of the rig.

Long story short, I sent $400 in LTC for a rig and I'm likely to get nothing for it but to be interrogated by some scammer(s).

I'm happy to provide any and all info about this via PM - I've tried not to dox the scam here in public as much as possible and leave my opinions out of it.

EDIT - I contacted Elizabeth who seemed genuinely concerned about her brother's handling of the transaction. She says she will follow through by sending the rig. Let's say for now that I am suspicious, but not 100% sure it's a total loss. Naive? Maybe. This is Christmas and I think maybe my faith in humanity might not be lost yet.

Always use escrow when buying hardware at forum.

It is the best method for both the buyer and seller.

It offers protection for not to be scammed.

OgNasty and Philipma1957 both are long time members and good at escrowing payments.

So send them the rig OR refund them their litecoin! This is why you should USE ESCROW!

This is a mess but always is without escrow.  To each their own, but this is why people scream escrow.  It's easy safe and about a 99.9% success rate when used.  It avoids things like this and endless hours of nonsense.  Good luck to the buyer hope it turns out well.

This forum is in serious need of moderation. the rules are completely disregarded and too many new or gullible people are losing their coin and cash from it. the rule is a picture with the machine and username, yet 95% of the posts fail to have that even when they say they have the units on hand. its insane.

Easily solved don't transact without escrow, sending irreversible payments blindly to a username usually leads to people losing money.

I feel sorry for you. You handled transaction the opposide way it should have been. You are the one with green trust on your account. He should be sending miner FIRST to you. Then only you pay, after receiving goods. Because your good feedback on his account after the transaction is WORTH IT.

EDIT: I went to your profile, and with sadness I noticed that you risked like this before. You bought hardware from complete newbie who just register few months back. You was lucky and everything went smooth. This time, you are on mercy of some crazy dude with his brother, mother, wife or whoever else. One does not simply give or receive an ANTMINER L3 during Christmas.. It is a costly investment and has to be well-planned (even pre-meditated) especially because of Bitmain's stock and delivery issues. While I sincerely do hope this turns out to be a legitimate transaction, it raises so many red flags I can't help but feel sorry for the buyer. Never trust online transactions with people you do not so easily.

Frankly, if the rig arrives tomorrow and it works, despite all the FUD, I have to say I'd be pleased with it despite the anxiety of this deal seemingly going sideways.

Take this thread as a learning experience. Now if you try selling again, you'll know what information to have from the start. As well as not allowing other family members to try and run this for you.

This - baffled as to how people are still not using escrow to handle these sort of transactions. Pretty straightforward especially when dealing with irreversible transaction with Crypto currency. Sadly many people here learn the hard way and lose everything.

I was told yesterday that it was shipped Fedex and will arrive today, and it's still early here. I'll update the thread whether it shows up or not.

Purchased one from the seller 3 days ago in the mist of everything. Pretty cool deal, I was willing to risk it all! Received it all functional planning on reselling for a profit. Thank you sir. Now that I have the tracking info at least I know that there's something coming for the beans I threw in the pot. I'm hopeful that I will receive a working rig. In any case, I appreciate the support from the folks here - and yes, for something that is thousands of dollars, I'll certainly use escrow - but I've bought (and sold) items here without escrow before very successfully and if it isn't life changing amounts, I'd choose to do so again. YMMV.

As far as the hating is concerned, I don't appreciate that especially when the hater has nothing to do with the transaction. Threats are uncalled for in any event.
