In an encouraging series of events Goldman Sachs claims that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency has a viable future as a form of money, KFC Canada starts accepting Bitcoin for buckets of fried chicken, and the state of Arizona has proposed SB 1091 which will allow you to pay your taxes in Bitcoin.

No thanks, pay $30 fee to buy $20 worth of chicken....

I'll use bitcoin when they implement the lightning network, right now, it feels like a store of value to me.... i hate to pay that high transaction fee

As I have said,  any news that will bring bitcoin back to its feet is encouraging to the ecosystem. I like the news that KFC is accepting bitcoin, remember there was a speculation that McDonalds will do the same, however we didn't see it happened so maybe KFC as a strategy, to beat its rival. As far as Goldman Sachs, glad to here that they see's bitcoin as future form of money because we are heading on that direction. Financial institutions are slowly accepting the fact the crypto is here to stay, CME and CBOE has started it and I'm sure that more will follow. Let's see how it goes, looks like the market is all green right now, and this news may somewhat influence today's movement.

Exactly! We are stock on the same problem all over again, We have still current problems on transaction fees and confirmation time, but this news is a good indicator that developers should start giving out solution on how Bitcoin can cater this upcoming users, this should be served as a wake up call to all developers. This news is a free advertisement for Bitcoin to all KFC fans that are not into cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin is not yet usable for our day to day usage due to its high transaction fee and longer confirmation times.Bitcoin community need to take steps immediately to bring down the fee or else bitcoins users will lose their interest on bitcoin usage.No one wants to pay $30 fee for buying $20 chicken ???
Implementation of lightning network will give the permanent solution for the transaction time problem so I hope it will be implemented soon.

Paying for coffee and fried chickens will only be viable when lightening network will be activated on bitcoin but right now nobody will be willing to pay more than coffee or chicken price in fee for faster confirmation.

People are already turning to altcoins for cheaper fee + faster confirmation so there is still lots of things to be done before bitcoin can fly like never before.

Seriously? You think fried chicken will be the start of a new all time high? Will it be enough that it will go up so much? Remember that current prices is at 13k - 15k USD that would mean that you need to increase the price by about $7,000 to get to a new all time high! Stop being delusional and forget your fried chicken bitcoin dream, it will not be the one that will pump the price to a new all time high. There would only be two things I can think of that would pump the price:

1. If the bitcoin protocol is upgraded to a scale-able solution
2. If the governments accept bitcoins and not be hostile to it.

KFC will not be the key we are looking for. But at least I know I can go to Texas with my bitcoins and buy KFC.

The most important of the news is not even about KFC because I know a lot of people cannot live with idea of buying one chicken at a premium by the time you add the fees at the present moment and later six months later realise that you have actually paid like *10 for that same item so personally I would use my fiat to buy my chicken and thanks to them for bringing more popularity to bitcoin.

The one I am joyous about proposed law of the state of Arizona which if passed into law will direct a new course of discussion across board which will then gradually spread to other places. If I can pay tax with it, I can then pay school fees with bitcoin or even pay medical bills as well. In all, this is a good news.

This post title is misleading. I checked the exchanges and the price was still 30% below the all time high. Where is this all time high? Is it on a specific exchange? In Korea?

You mislead what op said, he said that bitcoin will get the new ath cause some fast food chains already accepts bitcoin as a payment , even in paying taxes bitcoin will be use, once its accepted by the government bitcoin price should spike.

Well yeah, the second option will likely solidify/consolidate the stand of bitcoin into a currency of the world. But that is far from happening, I guess. But it if it does, maybe the price could just to at least $1 per satoshi since the demand would be like seven billion people wanting to get a hold of a bitcoin. Due to the sheer number of people wanting it by that time, I don't even know how congested the network will be. Probably, bitcoin unlimited would again be revived, who knows, we can't even get out of segwit2x. It will likely be a distant reality.

Often time the hype of the news is the key not the news itself :).  Having this news will definitely gives a positive (from negative view due to crash) view to bitcoin.  This might be the start of the next bull run , who knows.  In cryptocurrency even the slightest news can trigger an event that will create a huge impact in Bitcoin market, if it is done right.

Once the bear market starts and the whales start dumping, there is no good news in the world that will move Bitcoin. News becomes like reverse FUD. I remember in mid 2014 there was this whole wave of good news and Nasdaq was supposed to list Bitcoin or something and it proceeded to go on from $600 to $150. Honey badger.

Maybe once after the ongoing price fluctuation the price could pump high reaching a new ath crossing $20000 which has been expected to take place long back. Now the ongoing steep price fall might be a momentum gain to grow further and reach a price high than the value from which it fell down.

Yes this is incredible, i can not even believe that, but a new all time high? That is very crazy man, the price is not even at $14k right now, there is still a long path to recover until we can see those prices again, i mean, it would be perfect, but i do not think that it is going to happen soon

Haha true but they maybe having that problem fixed. On our country it is fixed on a wallet that doesnt have fees its like their have all the funds on their database and only number and addresses are change but they have all your funds to give and send with no fees. I know its sketchy but it has governments approval.

Thanks but no..in as much as we all wish that Bitcoin will be appreciated, welcomed and widely legalized, using it as in place of fiat or an everyday payment is not really a good idea. I usually use to have that perceptive that bitcoin should be used for transaction purposes but looking at the transaction fee made me decline. Bitcoin is good for investment not for day to day transactions.

2. Checking bitcoin price - title is wrong - checked.
3. Content has nothing to do with the title - checked.
4. Nobody gives a damn anymore what GS or anybody says, statements alone have lost their influence on price.
5. KFC Canada will accept bitcoin payments through bitpay, only in a few stores and only for one menu for limited time. -fake news? checked!!!
6. It's a proposal !!!! Again, misleading as they will just use a 3rd party gateway.

With this many positive news about bitcoin and how different companies even countries shows support to bitcoin market make it more stronger and make the future of bitcoin more brighter and if this will continue I will not be surprise if bitcoin value will go above its all time high which is $19000 the possibilities that it can go to $50000 can happen anytime soon. I am so much excited to see what's gonna happen next
