Title: Is this the new trend for spammers/account farmers?
Post by: SFR10 on January 13, 2018, 08:40:02 AM
Noticed the following user "Spike1337 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1324362)", keeps on posting similar posts across different local boards:

Hello, I am planning to move to India for 6 months, and I will receive money via Bitcoin, how to withdraw that money there in India? Is that possible through there wallets?

Hello, Plan to move to Thai for 6 month, I will receive salary as bitcoin, do you guys know will I be able to withdraw money from local Thai exchanges?

Hello, Plan to move to Singapore for 6 month, I will receive salary as bitcoin, do you guys know will I be able to withdraw money from local Singapore exchanges?

Hello, Plan to move to Malaysia for 6 month, I will receive salary as bitcoin, do you guys know will I be able to withdraw money from local Malaysia exchanges?

Hello, plan to move to Iran for 6 month, do you guys know how to send money from Iran to Georgia (Country not state) and is that easy, does it have some limits and how much is fee?

And can you suggest me site where I can search houses for rent?

Thank you and sorry for posting in English.

Although in one of his/her posts, he/she states the following (made it green), I still think this is just a way to rank up the account and no real intention for such things (considering his/her other posts from the beginning):

Thank you guys for kind replies, I have choice between Malaysia, Singapore and Thai, I will choose best option for me but right now I want to go to Malaysia.

Can you suggest which city will be best option for me and if you have any suggestions feel free to give me an advise.

PS: I won't be able to withdraw money from luno or local exchanges? only through localbitcoins? I don't want to trust them :)

Archive of his posts (all of it):

Wanted to ask what actions would be taken towards such users?

Lauda's "Illiterate" covers it quite accurately. Nobody called you a scammer, the word is "spammer".

Well at least it is in the local boards.

I'm surprised that "KFC accepts Bitcoin" hasn't appeared across them. :)

My mistake I see it now, but I haven't thought about spamming, I wrote message to him why I did that.

I hope he will understand and will delete his negative feedback.

It's pretty annoying that scammer and I should have same trust  :(

This is maybe an unnecessary reply for this thread but Man, I just locked one up.

If you remember some of them, could you please post it in this thread?

@Lauda: I usually report them for cross posting (or just plain spam), so I don't have a good example to show you.

Even I agree that I have seen tons of users copy pasting the same posts again and again in different threads but on the same context . I just tend to ignore such users.

There's really no need to ask why--it's pretty obvious to me.  Your vocabulary is extremely small, just like any person who's just learning a language or doesn't know it very well.

When I was first learning French I knew only a handful of phrases at first, mostly asking "Where's the museum and restaurant at?" and the like, and this is what happens with shitposters.  The same idiotic phrases keep getting recycled, and it doesn't matter if they're appropriate to the context of what's being discussed.  And sometimes it's jarring.

My suggestion would be to do some more reading on bitcointalk if you're here to learn.  But I strongly suspect that isn't your motivation at all, right?  You're here to earn money by writing words and renting out your signature space, right?  Well, you should learn how to string those words together in such a way as to contribute something profound or entertaining.  I really, really wish campaigns paid for local board posts.

But this is not the reason why I posted here, i want to add and ask something without opening new topic and it is somehow on topic(i think  :-\)

Can great leader of this forum theymos implement "report user to moderator" button? It would be much easier to report user, reporting post by post by post is kind waste of time and energy and won't do much unless we report all "one line" posts or all spam posted by single account(which I honestly gave up doing), we basically need to open all posts, report it one by one and wait for...hm...5 seconds? between reports.

Example:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1383451
It literally takes 2 seconds to see that this user is spamming, it would take another 2 seconds to report user and I am almost 100% sure that everyone will agree that we need "report user to moderator" button.
Also it won't be so bad to see who is banned(little "banned" sign would be ok IMO)
Thanks for reading, godbless and goodluck.

I think that's a great suggestion.  I've been wanting check boxes for all of a user's posts so I could report multiple posts all from one page...but I know that's never going to happen.  And I'm curious as to what kind of response this will get.  "Report User" along with maybe a field for a brief description of why the user is being reported would be quite handy.  There are many, many users here who just write one-line shitposts, and it's obvious they're doing it to either rank up or meet a bounty quota.  Those posts are zero-value, zero-thought, and they come by the dozens.

Two awesome suggestions mentioned by you, definitely worth implementing it.

The checkbox thing would be really helpful if it is implemented in the main boards like bitcoin discussion, economics and the like. Theymos can just create another database for the "report user" button, and whenever a user wants to report another user, the latter would be stored in the data base, and Theymos or any mod can just ban them accordingly based on why they have been reported. A text area for a user to explain why he is reporting another would be helpful,as only a handful of people use the report button,so that he can explain why he is doing so.
A checkbox for ignoring users would also be very much helpful.

Yes I want to earn from signature campaigns and I am not renting my signature.  ;D ;D ;D You are right.

Why I wrote that posts:

I have an option to go 5 countries from my job: Thai, India, Iran, Singapore and Malaysia.

I wanted to know how is to live there, how easy is to send money from that country to my family.

I wrote that on Reddit but no one answered me, that's why I wrote it here then.

But you guys just think that everyone wants to have high activity and rent their signature, that's why you all blame me for spamming without knowing reason why I wrote that threads.

The local language boards are for native speakers. They're not really supposed to be for people to ask random questions in English, but I'd bet there's more chance you were just spamming rather than this being a genuine request. Besides, many of those countries probably don't even have local exchanges but if you move to a foreign country then either just use your regular exchange and withdraw via your bank account/debit card, find someone locally to trade in cash on localbitcoins or buy a bitcoin debit card which will allow you to withdraw at any ATM worldwide.

It would be helpful and maybe you should request it for the new forum, but with cases like this you can just report one post and indicate there are multiple infractions that need looking into (you could link to them as well if you wish which is helpful but not necessary).
