Dallar is a cryptocurrency created accidentally which subsequently spawned a game development / cryptocurrency community. Our Discord community has grown to be about 400 game developers or other creative types, ranging from individuals from a wide variety of notable companies, many indie developers, and those looking to get into game development. Now more and more crypto people are becoming interested in our little chain as we continue to grow ourselves, which has shown us that we of the initial Dallar community know very little about crypto.

Dallar doesn't take itself too seriously. We know we are a shitcoin in a vast ocean of shit, but we still want to do things 'the right way'. We haven't found out what 'the right way' is yet though. We are simply a large group of game developers who wanted to learn about cryptocurrency, and in turn, created a cryptocurrency.

Dallar has PC, OSX, and Android wallets. iOS wallet is under development.

We're first focusing on our biggest utility. We are actively working towards creating a decentralized game asset and tutorial marketplace where anyone can quickly and easily spin up a web node and have people buy their game development related offerings for Dallar. Once this is achieved, we will be actively pushing for adoption on exchanges because its the cryptocurrency thing to do.

Dallar is its own blockchain, with its codebase forked from Groestlcoin.

I absolutely love this project! It's focus on learning and complete honesty on everything that it does will really drive attention to the project and what it actually is. A bunch of game developers and creatives gathered and working together from all over the industry to make this happen. Just think of the possibilities and what can/will happen with a pool of talent like that. Just saying, this has some huge potential

Haha, it's interesting. I've seen too many cheating threads and I suddenly find that I like you guys so honest and interesting, at least you're doing what you're trying to do.

So what happened here is... Dallar developers are not part of the cryptocurrency in-crowd. Afaik none of them had an account here prior to beginning work on Dallar. When they launched the Blockchain they had no idea proper launch etiquette includes posting here on BCT PRIOR to launch. It's understandable why most of you here look at Dallar negatively because of this. But Bitcoin launched prior to this place even existing & I don't hear anyone crying about missing that launch ;) JK, aren't we all!

Point is I'm very excited about Dallar for this reason exactly. Dallar represents a crypto currency project outside our bubble, fresh thinking, & with a group of programmers who see the possibilities of what you can do with blockchain. Network hash is still low so anyone who joins now can still amass a good chunk.

I have to agree, with the amount of coins released lately that are ico's just asking for money, or MN coins that hide their asking by holding auctions for MN's that are all copies of each other, to have developers spend their time and effort into this project and yet to ask for any money in return just for you to point a miner or 2 and come along for the ride is quite rare now, they get a rig from me mining.

My opinion echoes this, I feel that the recent explosion of ICOs is why cryptocurrency is in such a bad shape right now, but it's also the natural progression. We knew the day of regulation & government crackdown would come. That's why I'm excited about Dallar & mining with all I've got!

We represented Dallar at GDC 2018, got the name into quite a few hands and brought in some more high powered game developers into our community. Even had some people doing talks at the conference wear our Dallar badge on stage. If we were any good at this marketing thing, we'd probably have a bunch of pictures to post and stuff. But we're not. Theres an official GDC picture that includes some of the core Dallar members and if you zoom in, you can indeed see the fact that we existed. Again, we're shit at really everything about this.

We're starting an initiative to get on an exchange, doing some fundraising within our community instead of doing the whole ICO craziness. We should also be rolling out some new software related to game development content in the next month or so.

There are now multiple Dallar pools as well. Working on getting that info out to everyone and on our website.

Android wallet is still stable, but we're still suffering some build pipeline issues for iOS. As soon as this is resolved, iOS wallet will be pushed to the store.

Thanks. We didn't really expect to get such a big influx of users after tweeting that. We've exhausted our redistribution fund but we're getting more of our rich list to contribute. This will be an ongoing effort until we have a much cleaner faucet system. Until then, as long as we're able to keep raising funds for redistribution, we'll keep giving them away.

Get the Dallar/throestl kernel via dallar.org, just download the miner software & use the file from there.

Anywhere I can see the total network hash? The block explorer doesn't give that data and the figure on the official pool doesn't look right (shows pool hashrate at 1.29 GH/s but estimated network hashrate at 539 MH/s).
Interested to throw some hash at you but just wanted to get an idea of profitability in general...

Tried to get the SGminer software to work on my Vega rig but that fails to start unfortunately. Is that a known issue?

We've gotten mixed reports about the amd miner. Some load it just fine, others can't get it to work. Even had 2 guys with identical hardware, for one of them it didn't work.

We're still trying to track that down. Suspect it may require some different command line tuning or something.

Nothing I could tune with command line, I just get an error message saying "the application failed to start correctly" (even without any parameters set). Not sure why.

Seems like you are using the wrong ago. Dallar is using a special version of groestel. Start first with their mi ners available at dallar.org.

It's not the wrong algo, it's the wrong sgminer version. The one displayed on the dallar site does not even start, it spits out an error message immediately.

I've tried to copy the dallar kernel to another version of sgminer. Getting closer (i.e. miner starts but locks up pretty quickly). Now that might be a tweaking matter.

The official pool's website front-end seems to be down (pool.dallar.org). You guys might wanna take a look.

Miner happily chugging so back-end must be fine.

So the frontend (the visual only side, i.e. the website) seems to be exhibiting some bad loading behavior. Also the url doesn't work unless its only pool.dallar.org with no "/miners" or etc. Known issue, investigating.

The backend (the actual mining pool server that does the mining) has been up and running with no interruption for several months now, currently no problems seen.

You can also try the alternative pool, note you cannot mine with your wallet address here, but need to make an account.

Dallar block reward has now been reduced to 65.62DAL, Network hash seems to have settled in the 1.4-1.8 GHS range, very nice!

AFAIK there is currently no max supply limit. PoW rewards reduce by 6% every 10080 blocks, once block reward reaches 8 DAL it becomes static. Allar may have more information.

You're right. When we do Discord giveaways, there's a chance someone might create multiple accounts prior. The thing is, when we announce / do these Discord giveaways, we don't actually see much in terms of new account sign up. Maybe we're not good enough at getting the word out. Maybe everyone sees us as a shitcoin and wants nothing to do with us. Either way, it hasn't really been a problem for us. Also, usually when we do these giveaways, other Discord members also join in and give away large sums as well. We had someone match our 10,000 giveaway and gave away another 10,000. The Dallar community is more about the act of giving than receiving.

If the state of this ever changes, we'll adapt as well. We're continuing to develop improvements to our Discord bot as well as our up and coming Twitch bot to handle various situations.

Its not uncommon for new accounts to be randomly sent Dallar or for people to give Dallar in response for a good joke, shitpost, statement, etc.

Could be that people just skip on reading through this thread if they see the somewhat aggressive thread title.

We're aiming to allow any creative type use Dallar for any purpose. Right now we're focusing on getting our Twitch Bot up and running, so that those who stream art or game dev (but really anyone can add it) can have a way for their audience to give each other Dallar, even synchronized across all channels.

Our first "big goal" is to create a game dev decentralized marketplace, not for games, but for assets to be used in games, as we're unhappy with the current state of game dev marketplaces. Many devs in our discord are eagerly awaiting the day they can put Dallar into their game, which we're still evaluating the best way to do so.

Most game centric cryptocurrency project developers just say "you'll be able to to use our coin as in game currency, we're making a game" then for the vast majority of projects, this never happens. I hope everyone understands the gravity of the final sentence in Allars post above.
