Merit is a new rule implemented in this forum. Merit is needed for you to be promoted. If you are a newbie you can be promoted to Junior Member even without merits but if from jr. member to Member, you must earn 10 merits and from member to Full member you need 100 merits in all to be promoted so on and so fort.

I found a topic about merit & ranking here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
Not every one is an expert so I think this merit thing is unfair.

Merit is soon implemented in the forum. As a basic principle, to gain merit, you must have quality posts so that those who read it remain impressed and give you a merit. These cumulative merits help you promote in rank. From newbie to junior member you do not need merit for promotion, but from junior member up, promotion is based on merit. From my point of view it's a stupid rule. You can have the best posts, if someone does not want to give you, you do not give it. There will be merit among friends to help each other. For more details on merits, please visit the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

Before, you only need a certain number of activities to rank up. Now, you also need merits that will be given to you buy the members of this forum. There is also a certain amount of merit required in every rank you want to reach except Jr.Member.

Merits are a way to limit spam on the forum to improve the quality of each post by the members. Merit is required for you to be able to increase the rankings on the forum beyond the action point. This is a great way to manage the bitcointalk forums.

For each reached ranks you will get merits.
For example:
1. JR.MEMBER - No merits
2. Member - 10 Merits
3. Full Member-100 merits and 3 sendable merits
etc...

Merits is needed to make your account to ranked up, in other words if you dont have enough merits you will be stuck in junior member rank forever.Thats how important the merit is.

Merit has made the forum more organized and also much better. Perhaps many people are affected after the enactment of this system, now the spammers are getting reduced. The specified rankings are much tighter and there are also special specs like having to get some merit points in order to get an account level increase. I see this as an advancement because then we can see some threads already have quality and can contribute to the development of Bitcoin and generally for the development of cryptocurrencies.

I don't see merit as an advancement but a barrier. Just like mining bitcoin, useful & interesting information is becoming harder and harder to find.
Considering ordinary members like me, I've only known about crypto and this forum recently. Maybe I am yet to contribute to the development of bitcoin like you said but I do contribute to the development of this forum, right?
Do you know about Communism government? If something can not be controled, they ban it. This merit system somewhat sounds like them.

I can not give much meaning to the Merit system. Many people use it for multi accounts. I see some very good messages but people do not give any credit for them. This system was not very good for those who use the forum in good faith.

^^Here's a senior member (!) who has obviously been so busy posting for money that he's had no time to read about this new system...or this is a bought account with some shitposting noob behind it.

Why don't you try reading any of the threads in meta instead of posting about how much you don't know about the merit system?   That goes for OP and anyone else who still claims to be ignorant at this point.

The info isn't hard to find.

Merits help a lot in a certain rank of a bitcoin talk member. It boost an account owner if he/she earned merits for what they have commented in a specified topic in the thread. It also helps other member to know if they could trust the works of that account with merits. To earn merits from other account owners or devs you should know what you are writing for. You should have the knowledge in a certain topic to share to everyone. Follow this link to know about the details on how merit works.

Merit system is an additional rule implemented to avoid post spams and to improve quality of our post to earn merit when we reach the minimum account which is junior member. The ranking was based on the number of activities but now when merit is being implemented, you must earn the specific number of merits to rank up. If you're become junior member, you need to earn 10merits which you can earn if someone gives you and if the quality of your post is enough.

you need 10 merits so you can rank to member for newbie no merits and just a activity and for jr. member 30 activities only and no merits need. But when you want to be to rank as member you need 10 merits so as goes for higher rankings but higher merits needed also.

The merit was designed to eradicate low quality posts and spams. The merits and smerits differ as per the rank. Any one can earn unlimited merits but the smerits is restricted to the ranks. But as you keep earning merits, your smerits would increase. Everything is explained from the beginning in the below link by Sir Theymos.

Merit is given based on your post quality. The more quality and informative is your post, you can receive en number of merits. One posts can receive upto 5 merits at once from the same user. Once you gain merits, your sending merits also increases. Now your rank is also depend on your merits as well. In order to rank up, you need to attain certain merit limited.

You're right. I ranked up to jr. Member without merit but to rank in member you need merit. You can earn merit by answering their topic but you need good and understandable answer related to topic they started. I think when you have merit and you want to give merit to whom you want to give the merit you can give is half of merit you have, I know someone that he want to give merit but he had 2 merits all merit he can give is half of it then all merit he can give is only 1. When you have 50 merits you can give half of it and your merit wont be deducted it wi remain 50 but the merit you can share will be given away and you wait for someone that give merit so you can give merit again.

That's true, based on the post quality and the contents within the post can gets the user good number of merits. In the above post it is mentioned that 5 merits can be send for a particular post at a time, which is wrong. One can give 50 merits for a post in a single shot.

Yes exactly. But unfortunately, if you are still a newbie and a jr. member also you cannot give merits to any comments or post here. You must be a member so you can give merits to other accounts. That means you must wait until your rank will be upgraded up to member.

Merit is part of ranking up in bitcointalk forum aside from your activity post.  To reach a member rank, you must have ten merits and meet the required activity posts.  I considered merit as little unfair because merit is not usually given by readers of your posts. As part of a signature bounty campaign,  I always passed the approval of my bounty lord and was given stakes as a reward but always forgot to give me merit for a good posts.  For me, merit is more of asking from friends or worst begging to have merits just to rank up.

Small informations abaout merit, i just know how you can higher velue merit just only given to some people from you, you have friends you can give to that. But have a limit can give to all you.
One reason what about activity? If you have high activity but you less merit? And last how about your rank?

It might be a system to improve the Forum. Although I do not see it working. Most of the people are not receiving it, though they are posting quality stuff.
That's not true at all.  Almost every post in this thread is complete shit, for example.   These monkeys are stapling a bill onto a dog, painting it different colors, waterproofing it and calling it a duck--but it's not a duck;  it doesn't matter what you call it, it's still a dog.

These posts here may be of medium length, but none of them are interesting, informative, written well, or have a reason to exist.  If these shitposting garboons didn't have an incentive to post here, you can bet your ass they wouldn't be doing it.  And they shouldn't be.

People who've posted in this thread will be geriatric Alzheimer's patients by the time they reach Hero rank, but they'll never understand why.  They think their posts are great.  I'm here to tell you they are not.  Nobody is going to hand out merit to these garbage posts, short of having a gun to their head and being forced to do so.

Merits now is obviously the new policy and rules in terms of ranking your account in the forum, where it is a hindrance for the newbie nowadays for them to rank up their account easily. Unlike before it is more on base in the post activity but now there is merit for you to level up your position here. Though the point of merit system was for us to make post seriously at make a quality post according to them. But it is still useless in my opinion, the shit post can become quality post and quality post can become useless at all.

Another restriction from the developers of the forum, that would restrain the geometric growth of the bounty of hunters and flood for the purpose of filling the rank. The idea itself is good enough, but the principles of obtaining merits are not thought through to the end. At the moment, unfortunately, there is not a single transparent scheme by which you can, with a high probability, receive merits.

If you do not how merit has been useful and works go to Meta section, you will find the pinned thread has been created by the admin Theymos. That thread will explain the how the merit has been used in this forum and why it has been evolved in this forum.
If you create a thread with the statistical analysis and technical assistance you will get the merits for sure. If you do not get also keep the same work for long time dude. You will get it then.

The merit system is good to one extent it controls spam but the point is those who share informative posts are not been awarded merits

merit it works when want to raise the ratings. for rating newbie to jr.member still not in need, but it would be better if it is to get. when want to raise to ranking member, you need the 10 the merit, and multiples for rating the next. merit in get from others feel your posts very useful. so improve the quality of your posts

Go to Meta (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0) and spend your time to read, you'll get all information about Merit system as you want to know :). This is altcoin place not Merit and there are so many topic related to Merit created and I think no need to create any topic about it more, except reporting about Merit abuser :))

hello guys im a newbie .. can you help me discuss how merit works..?

The Merit is a system that is offered by theymos to avoid a lot of alt-accounts on the forum - a person who creates multiple accounts to manipulate signature campaigns for a profit. With Merit, you need to create quality content to receive Merit and must reach the requested Activity and Merit number then you can upgrade your rank on Bitcointalk forum.

the merit system is made to make quality post although many users do not agree with the policy because it is extremely difficult to obtain merit if the quality post is not really what you are doing that will merit the merit system.

I am very difficult to get merit, because I am confused how to get the merit, if you have an opinion on how to get the merit, I ask for your advice.

merit will only be given to the person who made the post quality and beneficial for other accounts. so from that post which only aims to increase the number, of course, will not be given the merit and this will make it difficult to ride a rank.

Well I see the point of the system, and I dont really know if it can be done better. So in theory, I think it would work great.
However in reality, if someone makes a an informative, quality comment in a conversation, it is quiet likely that comment will not be rewarded with merit, which would be the point of it! So I can see the frustration, but sooner or later, with enogh quality posting, I believe you can rank up.

The idea is not bad. Only in my opinion, it was necessary to create an alternative to receiving merit. Not only from participants, but also for example performing specific tasks.

merit is a point to raise our rank. Currently it takes merit to go up from Jr.member to Member and so on. But it is not easy to get it, because we must have a good post and quality in order to get merit from other members. but we must keep trying to get merit in order to follow the bounty campaign that requires using rank

MERIT is a new rule applied in this forum. If you are a beginner, you can be promoted to Junior Members without even a reward but if from jr. member to Member, you must get 10 MERIT. the way to get MERIT is to create a thread that is useful for other people if according to admin or other people useful post it will be given MERIT

The merit system also brings out the worse in human.

1. Scammers selling fake BTT accounts.

2. Forummers with ability to give merit but abusing it.

3. and the list goes on.

No system is foolproof in this world, but this is definitely a flawed system.

so, merit u can get for some useful and high-quality message on the forum, if someone appreciates it and gives u мerit. U can also assign мerit to someone. Now with the help of merit u can raise the rank on the forum.

Merits serves as a point you can gain once  someone reviewed your post. If he/ she thinks that your posted a good quality post and that it contributes to the forum, you'll gain points on that person. Merit points is also one of the key to increase your rank. That's how you gain merit points. You can read everything on this link...

hello guys im a newbie .. can you help me discuss how merit works..?

to me, merit is what enables you to upgrade of your level or rank e.g, from jr member to member you need merit.
in this without merit you can't get to member or any other rank.

the quality of being especially good or worthy, especially so as to deserve praise or reward. merit I think an achievement given to a person or developer for the quality of what he has given to anyone who aims to raise the quality of someone who can be seen apart from the ranking problem. the decision to create a new merit-shaped regulation for me is very helpful for everyone who is in this forum to always and can give an appraisal appropriately in terms of professional job qualities. because the merit is free anyone can give it another rank by being viewed and given as we created the account in this forum.

I found a topic about merit & ranking here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
Not every one is an expert so I think this merit thing is unfair.

I think so too hahaha lol. I think this merit thingy is fair because some of the members here in this forum before are continuing to rank up even if their posts are not a qualitative post. It is true that not everyone is an expert thats why they need to try harder in order for them to be qualified in their respective ranks ,they need to show that they deserve their ranks, also it helps them to be a quality poster and the same time it will help them to get easily picked if they ever tries to join campaigns.

Merit is given to increase the quality of post members to avoid spam.If you want to get a merit then you have to make a quality post and can be useful for others. Do not make perfunctory post. But even though we have made a post with a quality post but no one gives a merit it is also useless. So please make the members do not be too stingy to give merit. We are here together learn.
