you will get a merit if you post quality and make it very interesting for the reading, it is due to avoid any post that contains spam or other important things.

Merits help a lot in a certain rank of a bitcoin talk member. It boost an account owner if he/she earned merits for what they have commented in a specified topic in the thread. It also helps other member to know if they could trust the works of that account with merits. To earn merits from other account owners or devs you should know what you are writing for. You should have the knowledge in a certain topic to share to everyone. Follow this link to know about the details on how merit works.

hello guys im a newbie .. can you help me discuss how merit works..?
Merit system is an additional rule implemented to avoid post spams and to improve quality of our post to earn merit when we reach the minimum account which is junior member. The ranking was based on the number of activities but now when merit is being implemented, you must earn the specific number of merits to rank up. If you're become junior member, you need to earn 10merits which you can earn if someone gives you and if the quality of your post is enough.

you need 10 merits so you can rank to member for newbie no merits and just a activity and for jr. member 30 activities only and no merits need. But when you want to be to rank as member you need 10 merits so as goes for higher rankings but higher merits needed also.

The merit was designed to eradicate low quality posts and spams. The merits and smerits differ as per the rank. Any one can earn unlimited merits but the smerits is restricted to the ranks. But as you keep earning merits, your smerits would increase. Everything is explained from the beginning in the below link by Sir Theymos.

Merit is given based on your post quality. The more quality and informative is your post, you can receive en number of merits. One posts can receive upto 5 merits at once from the same user. Once you gain merits, your sending merits also increases. Now your rank is also depend on your merits as well. In order to rank up, you need to attain certain merit limited.

Merit is a new rule implemented in this forum. Merit is needed for you to be promoted. If you are a newbie you can be promoted to Junior Member even without merits but if from jr. member to Member, you must earn 10 merits and from member to Full member you need 100 merits in all to be promoted so on and so fort.
You're right. I ranked up to jr. Member without merit but to rank in member you need merit. You can earn merit by answering their topic but you need good and understandable answer related to topic they started. I think when you have merit and you want to give merit to whom you want to give the merit you can give is half of merit you have, I know someone that he want to give merit but he had 2 merits all merit he can give is half of it then all merit he can give is only 1. When you have 50 merits you can give half of it and your merit wont be deducted it wi remain 50 but the merit you can share will be given away and you wait for someone that give merit so you can give merit again.

Merits are designed to make posts on the forum more qualitative. Higher ranks can give you sMerits, if you will write a quality post. You can grow up to Junior rank without Merits, but in order for you to become a Member, you need 10 Merits.

That's true, based on the post quality and the contents within the post can gets the user good number of merits. In the above post it is mentioned that 5 merits can be send for a particular post at a time, which is wrong. One can give 50 merits for a post in a single shot.

It might be a system to improve the Forum. Although I do not see it working. Most of the people are not receiving it, though they are posting quality stuff.

Yes exactly. But unfortunately, if you are still a newbie and a jr. member also you cannot give merits to any comments or post here. You must be a member so you can give merits to other accounts. That means you must wait until your rank will be upgraded up to member.

hello guys im a newbie .. can you help me discuss how merit works..?

As far as i understand, you get a certain amount of merit points which you can hand out  (the amount depends on your forum rank).
This amount will be refreshed after a while so you can give other people some more merit points

Interesting information and discussion. I always try to make my posts on topics informed and reasonable, and a merit system to recognise this for advancement in the ranks here and to cut down on ridiculous and spam posts is certainly reasonable! I will follow the merit system with interest now that I understand it better!

how merit works?
that's the question I want to teach too because I myself do not know about it. maybe others are willing to know.

At your current rank, I wonder why you still not know how merit works. Well I can say, that merit system basically created for people like you who are just so busy posting your works on a bounty campaign or posting like a shit.

hello guys im a newbie .. can you help me discuss how merit works..?

Merits is one of the requirements to rank up together with your activity. You should post with quality and meaningful. But i think you should learn more and do reading and reading here in forum specially for the rules they implement here for ypur knowledge so that you don't need to ask everything.

I agree with you mate, this is how merit works ..You will only be promoted base on your activity and merit you canno't rank up if ever you canno't receive any merits from others. The best thing we could do is to do our best and improve our way on posting on yhe thread.

Merit is part of ranking up in bitcointalk forum aside from your activity post.  To reach a member rank, you must have ten merits and meet the required activity posts.  I considered merit as little unfair because merit is not usually given by readers of your posts. As part of a signature bounty campaign,  I always passed the approval of my bounty lord and was given stakes as a reward but always forgot to give me merit for a good posts.  For me, merit is more of asking from friends or worst begging to have merits just to rank up.

Small informations abaout merit, i just know how you can higher velue merit just only given to some people from you, you have friends you can give to that. But have a limit can give to all you.
One reason what about activity? If you have high activity but you less merit? And last how about your rank?
