Title: CRYPTO IS IN AFRICA TO STAY
Post by: Rhinoboy11 on February 19, 2018, 08:11:46 PM
The Kenyan Government (to the blondes - Kenya is a country in Africa) is planning to build a blockchain to support digitalization of their services especially the land registry and other ministries.

It must be hard for some countries to see that they are banning crypto and some African ones are opening to adopt for the future lies in the crypto and blockchain technologies

Image the impact if a country's president understand and support Bitcoin and encourage the country's citizens to invest in Bitcoin. The country will be sooooo prosperous in a few years, no shortage of anything and no debt.

Damn that will be a wonderful place to stay.

This is acceptance of change. It is always wise for any government to foresee the future
and take a chance where necessary to leverage on the opportunities.Kenyan government
has shown this commendable feat having seen the future of crypto currencies. It is a very
welcomed development as this shall encourage kenyans to join the league of crypto currency
transactions to maximize profit.

Wow! So how is this different from where you are from?
Do you go to your local store to buy food with bitcoin?
In short this was a very ignorant and lame question that does not need an answer.

Kenya has a digitalized government services and everything is now done online so this is a huge advancement to their vision 2030

Venezuela has already built and owned its government's crypto currency.
If as a pilot test this works. You may hear that other governments as Iran, lebanon,
libya and other countries may adopt the same project. In Africa, most of the populace
want crypto currency so as to measure up with the rest of the world as their
governments are not willing to develop their infrastructures and many lack employment
and all. Therefore, I see a future where africans accept the digital economic world as to
move forward. The better part is that is is a decentralized technology.

You don't know anything about Africa.
Kenyans store money in their phones using a technology they started there years ago and now being adopted in the first world. read about the M-PESA

Secondly, Everything in kenya is digitized. The government offer all their services online.

thirdly, the Kenyan government give free laptop to kids when they join Grade 1. Unheard of anywhere in the first world.
Please stop your ignorance and educate yourself.

Yes.I think so. I have joined an ICO that offers services in Africa. For some reason, bitcoin is also famous in that part of the world. I don't believe it at first because there are a lot of poor people in Africa and I was thinking they can't afford to invest on ICO's.They proved me wrong. The ICO was successful but until now the payment was not sent yet

I am not really surprised by this move by the Kenyan government. Over the last two decades, Kenya have been at the forefront of industrialization and new technology acceptance and implementation. Most tech now reaching other African countries where first of all tried and tested in Kenya, because they were willing, and as a result, you have more foreign investors starting out there, because of the "ease" to set up and take the risk of something new. I wouldn't surprised if the Rwandan government is next on this. The too are beginning to be early adopters of the tech revolution.

I hope that they will stay. I have joined an ICO who fails in other country and they transferred to Africa where they will have 40 million possible clients. The market is huge - no wonder crypto wants to start a program there. It may take a while for them to develop but when all is well. It will be another big step for the crypto world.  I heard that there are a lot of services online, almost all of them. Crypto will definitely be a HIT.

If you have to pick side, between developed country and developing country, which side will you stay? Which side general population will stay? It's more intriguing when a country like USA banned crypto and Kenya is accepting it. I think on the surface, this might be a good news. I'm sure there will be power play with crypto sooner or later.

Again Kenya taking a bold and positive step towards cryptocurrencies on the African continent. Not really surprised anymore as they have proven in the past to be the most open-minded African country to with new/upcoming technologies. Now, 4G Capital, a Nairobi-based microfinance and training company, is to become the first such financial institution to issue a tokenised bond using cryptocurrencies.

I agree. Crypto will be huge in Africa. The previous bounty that I have joined failed in Europe, they never got listed no matter how hard they tried. A few months after, they decided to start a new journey in Africa. Everything turned the right way because it seems that there's not a lot of competition in Africa. They have a huge market there, around 40 million possible clients. Crypto is there to stay because its profitable.

Most African countries are corrupt and this include Kenya. Africa have underlying problem investing on crypto won't solve any damn problem but bread more corruption and high rate of money laundry using decentralized technology, and when they launder money they shade it with been hacked and lacking the necessary security facility. Crypto in Africa will only pose a great danger as you need millions if not billions of local currency just to invest little on bitcoin.. Which will be insecure or not accounted for at the end.

Crypto is in Africa to stay despite the Governments of nations within the continent trying to hoodwink their citizens to continue using fiat money basing their facts on the fact that the knowledge of cryptocurrency came through ponzi schemes and since all ponzi schemes crashed that cryptocurrency would all also crash someday. And the fact that crypto is highly volatile also makes people very scared of venturing into digital assets. Despite all these, people that are knowledgeable about crypto and naturally risk takers will definitely continue to invest in and use crypto.

Crypto Its still under publicized non Africa, how many blockchain meetups take place in Africa? How many crypto confrences? How many startups? Very few. Grossly under-projected.

With the level of poverty in Africa and the way that bitcoin has been a savior to many people on this continent, I don’t think any government who wants to remain in power is going to ban the crypto currency at all. Because with it, poverty is being reduced as well as unemployment.

This is awesome information, I never even knew about it. Thanks for sharing.

The good thing about cryptocurrency is it is helping a country to move forward and especially in cryptocurrency industry there is no racial discrimination.

it's really nice to see government understand blockchain and even more when they invest in it because they understood that it's the future, now the question is when do the bigger countries are going to understand it as well.

Some countries, Africa included are tired of the western only monopoly and as seeing the new opportunities the blockchain technology can bring, then these countries have the right to act and should act to nurture the technology as it would massively bust their economy - that' s once the infrastructure to support the network would be built

There is a growing interest in cryptocurrency in Africa currently. A survey even says that 38% of the population wished they have invested in cryptocurrency and 71% believe in its profitability. Due to economic crisis, Africans see crypto as a kind of an oasis.

Africa is going to use some of these emerging technologies such as blockchain to solve its challenges. Areas of growing interest where blockchain is important include but not limited to: Agriculture, financial services/inclusion-bitcoin will play a huge role here), aiding SMEs business, supply chain and not forgetting governance and accountability by governments.

This may sound strange to many crypto industry players, because the current blockchain vision to make the movement of millions of micro transactions around the world has proven to be a difficult challenge to achieve. However, the South African startup Wala proves that with a little ingenuity and an effective approach can make cryptocurrency a better payment mechanism than the traditional way that many African citizens currently do.

Guys living in Africe, I wonder whether crypto really solves the problems. I mean, if you wanna buy something tangible, like some food or clothes, but there're problems, does crypto work?
Not at the moment, I don't think there is any country in Africa that accepts cryptos for stuffs like that and I also believe about post some one made up there about corruption. Am African and I know how much corruption is in most of our governments and if there is any country in Africa that wants to implement full fledged crypto operation and supported by the government, then I most say I smell something bad coming cos that's one way to move money around as we know it now without much trace.

I had to strike that out because it is a misleading information. That used to be in the past but not anymore, except you are talking of wanting it for free. People paying a token to get certain private services isn't a problem. Anyone can get monthly data in Nigeria for as low as $2 - $3. Is that a problem? I don't think so.

the development of blockchain technology is too difficult in Africa because the infrastructure development is still low, it is very rare for me to find the success of ICO projects to be developed in Africa, everything is difficult to develop

For sure this a welcomed development to for me CRYPTO coming into Africa, by the way most people in Nigeria have already been into Cryptocurrency right from day one and which have already in terms change the lives of many. I really welcomed this great opportunity.

I think everything is due to time and adoption, if it's been give a trial we never can tell it will turn out a success. Am an African which you see I came to love and know about Cryptocurrency even before it became most popular which in terms I heard it was around the corner but wasn't taken serious to be this large in the future and today many people are into Cryptocurrency.

In most African countries this isn't an issue any more.  We now have internet services but where we have challenges is the cost of the internet service. For example I spend approximately $20 monthly for internet connection which doesn't last for that month and I live in one of the advance country in Africa now imagine what others are passing through 😢
