Title: How do you feel about meditation?
Post by: Mmaklay4 on March 07, 2018, 02:29:01 PM
Have you ever had an enlightenment? This is a very strong sense of motivation, which has long been gone. I will be glad to listen to your experience of concentration on one thought. Tell us the process of concentration. Does it help you in life?

The issue with it was that I didn't realize what would happen. I was reading a book about meditaion, I was watching some private meditation class and stuff about it yet it generally felt that my mediation resemble waves hitting a bluff.

The practice of thinking deeply in silence, especially for Religious reasons or in order to make your mind calm. The Yogas meditate but it's Kal/Satanic that assumes great intellectual knowledge, long and unnecessary periods of mediation. All these take place in the mental plan.

Meditation is a wonderful thing that helps to clear thoughts.
For beginners, I advise firstly to try not to think about anything and concentrate on breathing...
As for me, I practice it from time to time. Meditation helps me when I don' know what to do in complicated situations. An interesting fact - the solution to the problem comes to mind itself. It's fantastic.

Meditation is an effective way of relieving stress by focusing on something that will enhance or restore our inner peace. It important that we meditate regularly so as to develop our inner self and to maintain our good mind, body and soul. It can be spiritual meditation wherein we focus on our relationship with God and others types more common particularly in Asian countries.

If you think that meditation works on you then it's all fine and good. If you actually do proper mediation and achieve the said benefits then great. I myself haven't tried this but i do believe that a person could do great things with great amounts of concentration. People talk about being in the zone when they are hyper focused on something and actually achieved great stuff. People in emergency states have a great deat of strength they don't even know they can.

There are different kinds of meditation. There is a physical type of meditation where you relax your mind and body and just focus on your senses while doing breathing exercises. I've had the opportunity to do that and it was very relaxing and all my tension went away. But there is also a spiritual type of meditation. I believe there are many religions that do spiritual meditation with their god.

I actually feel that meditation helps me think clearly. Nowadays, it is quite difficult to find peace, that's why people tend to go travelling or finding their special places out of town just to get peace. It is a good idea, but it costs money. So, one of the most effective ways is to meditate, and it costs nothing.

Meditation often benefits many individuals who exercise regularly and daily. There are many reasons for people wanting to calm down, such as wanting to extinguish the disturbance in their mind, understanding themselves, finding peace for the soul and feeling the surrounding life, depth, or consolidation of beliefs. Whatever the reason you want to meditate, remember to start out and motivate yourself to enjoy this subject never easy.

I could not imagine my life without it, and it is a very normal life I lead. but honestly, just keeping in a state of relative contentment is very hard nowadays (so much happening so quickly, so many options offered which one will never take...) and meditation helps me center myself, and breathe like my body has been programmed to for millenia. It is very helpful, and I can only recommend getting through the dofficult early stages, and making it a natural, joyful part of your day to day life - no hocus pocus, no easy solutions. Just breathe and live.

It is extremely helpful for the body and mind. Contrary to popular belief there are plenty of ways it can be done.

You just need to find what works best for you. It's also helpful if you can find someone to guide you.

Best of luck!

When I experienced some hardships in my personal life, I always stop doing things and just sit in my room, close my eyes and breathe heavily. That's my way of meditation. I do that to lessen the feeling that I'm experiencing. Sometimes, I would talk to myself to create some realizations. Another way is that I write, I write all what's on my mind then after that I would reflect on what should I do. That's how I survived the hardships that I experienced and I'm sure that meditation did a great part on it.

“Meditation is mind without agitation. Stress creates agitation and is something we manage in some way or another. Furthermore, it's expanding, given the rising utilization of anti-anxiety medications. Meditation enables individuals to assume responsibility of their own sensory system and feelings. "Studies have indicated enhanced capacity to [permanently] control feelings in the cerebrum.

There are so many things that are felt during meditation, or as a result of meditation practice. It varies a lot from people to people and, mainly, from .

For me, the actual process of meditation, for the first minutes, feels like a constant remembering (focusing the attention) and forgetting (getting distracted). After a few minutes, there is some onepointedness of mind, and then the mind is very quiet, integrated, collected, introspected, and "open".

You can also use meditation not as a way to relax but to try and connect with every atom of your body. You can use the process of meditation just as you would but instead of calming and diving deeper into any thoughts or no thoughts at all,you can imagine yourself being in your body and try to connect with every single atom, get a hold of the feeling .Similar to how you cannot move your toes or ears  as simple as your fingers you could build a connection with every muscle in your body.

Well meditation to some is very spiritual exercise that allows them to have intimacy with their object of worship. To them meditation has a lot to do with their life and their  object of worship. Meditation in a way is a good thing it allows the individual to fall into some solemness and think deep into the activities of life and their relationship with the object of worship. Worshipers are therefore encouarged by their leaders to do this often as the believe that it strengthens their relationship with object of worship.

Meditation is what I always do whenever I feel stress and hopeless about my daily life. There are instances that I just wanna stay inside my room but through meditation, I find peace of mind. Through concentration and silence, we would be able to think of good things and focus on positive things that we must do and we must see in our lives. It is a powerful stress reliever specially if we do it with prayer.

Meditation is a tool, a means to achieve other goals. Therefore, like any other tool, it is certainly needed. But the tool can do harm, if you do not know how to use it, you can hit your finger with a hammer, cut yourself with a knife. And inept meditation can do much harm. But proper meditation can help a lot. After all, in principle, meditation, as I understand it, is a way out of the habitual thought process and a transition to a mindless level of perception. This, of course, sometimes, it is necessary periodically. As Osho put it (quoting from memory, approximately), "I do not call to go without clothes, but from time to time it needs to be removed" (under clothing, he meant the usual mental level of perception of the world).

I did try to meditate one time and that did not end well. I am the type of person who can't focus on one thing, whenever I clear my mind another thing pops up and it will be a domino effect in the end.

I don't meditate but sometimes when I am alone I do talk to myself, not literally but asking myself what am I doing my whole life, what is my goal in life. That alone can motivate me to do things and to make things right, it can also help me when I am depressed.

Yes. Concentration has helped me in my life numerous times, especially at work. I tend to overthink everything, from emotions, thoughts, opinions, and actions towards me. It used to affect me so much; I've been doing bad at work. One day, I decided to have a catch-up with our HR Manager, and she gave me a lot of advice, listened to me for at least 4 hours straight. After that talk, I was enlightened. I realized, I just needed to blurt everything out. So far, I've never been better. I got promoted, and I'm up to date on my tasks. Maybe we all need someone to talk to about our enlightenment. It's a good start for better concentration.

As someone with a very active mind, I cannot say that meditation has brought me any level of deep enlightenment that I know many have claimed to experience.

However, I can say without doubt that meditation has helped me practice gratitude, increased my patience, extended my compassion and understanding and let go of the past.

I hope one day to experience more profound enlightenment, however if it never happens I won't be upset about it. Meditation has already given me untold benefits and made me appreciate myself a lot more.

For getting started I'd really recommend the headspace app. It really helps with the process and helps establish a routine.

Meditation is exercise for your mind (although it's super relaxing exercise!)

Meditation brings us closer to enlightenment, it's supposed to reach out
to our inner self and calms us. A realization and a greater sense of this
is supposed to be attained. I feel meditation clears our minds and hopefully
our hearts and soul. It gives us clarity during contemplation. It's the best
method to combat stress and bring in tranquility.

There is action in non-action. Not acting on one's thoughts does not make one lazy. Rather, observing and accepting one's thoughts and things that just happen is more difficult than continuously thinking. This is exactly the ideology of Tao, which practices the art of meditation.

I am facing the same problem. These mediation sessions usually last for 1-2 hours and I have found it extremely difficult to concentrate on it for so long. That is one of the reasons why I gave up meditation and yoga. There is no doubt that it is good for the mind and body. But meditation is not meant for people like me.

It's really helping a person to refresh the mind from this world's toxic. Meditation allows the person to think without feeling any pressure in time, work or any disturbances in mind. In this way the are starting to feel relaxed and comfortable which makes us think better and productive with refreshed minds.

Meditation is about oneself, focusing on each breath. You can meditate when standing, sitting on a chair or even with eyes wide open at traffic jams. It does not matter if your surroundings are noisy because the inside is the most important thing.

The world is full of chaos and violence. People nowadays are not in peace since everyday, what is happening in the society gets worst. Other people are toxic and what they say is not helping at all. They speak of a bluff and of a negative words. Thus, people needs to find ways to manage things. And one way is meditation. Meditation is a manner in which you are trying to make a relaxation from concentration. What does it mean? It means that you are finding and applying your own way of concentration process by process. You have steps to follow, however, it does not necessarily mean that you have to follow one's standard because the truth is, what works for them differs what works for you. We have different way of coping up. Jist like me, my way is very simple. I just go to a quiet place, close my eyes, and remember something we should be grateful of, think of positive thoughts, and looking back onto the good memories you have shared with your loved ones.

How do I feel about meditation? be calm and open up thoughts or ways that have never been done when meditating and making fast to sleep and avoid insomnia, then how to just focus on one thought? In the beginning I will do my activities immediately or things (work) so that when our concentration (meditation) is not disturbed about it, usually I do meditation before going to bed.
if my meditation usually do with (play) music especially smooth jazz music because I like and calm, does this help me in life? of course meditation keeps us calm and when we calm down we will not decide wrong decisions, then we will be able to control ourselves (especially angry), believe or not meditation will make us wiser, etc

It's problematic to expect meditation to feel "like" something. The goal is simply to pay attention to whatever is happening, albeit often with an object of concentration, such as the breath, as an anchor to which one returns when the attention wanders - as it invariably does. During meditation I've experienced states of deep relaxation in which I felt untroubled by mundane cares and concerns; I've also felt irritation, boredom, and anxiety. It's not that the deep relaxation was "good" meditating and the other states "bad"; it's simply that the mind is a machine that produces thoughts and emotions. Meditation is a process of becoming aware of those states without being carried away by them. That said, with practice this ability to be aware of one's inner states without being driven by them in itself produces feelings of calm, equanimity, and peace.

meditation is great but sometimes I forget to do it.  It is important to be able to take a few minutes ever day and just stop your brain.  Sometimes if you can do this in a part of the day that is really busy and stressful it can help you cope better with what is going on and really improve your performance.

Here's two ways I meditate:

1. Eyes closed.  Deep breaths in and out.  All the way in, all the way out.  Don't worry too much about counting unless that helps you.  But eventually you just want to breath in and out.  And then just think about breathing...  in---and---out... nice and easy until you aren't even thinking about it.  You are thinking of nothing.  Your focus is nothing.  Everything is nothing at all.

2. Eyes open.  It's really the same as above but now your eyes are open.  Good for when you are in some office place and don't want people catching you with your eyes closed.  But you have to account for visual stimulus... so... just try to find some neutral point around your desk that you can mentally tune out.  The space under a monitor, the overhead bin, the space just above your monitor(s)... and then let your eyes go unfocused and then again....

Do the above as long as you feel comfortable.

I think it's something that should be done very often. It helps one reflect on the mistakes, errors, things you did right in this life. How to change from doing a particular thing, the next step to take on a certain matter, all these are my thoughts during meditation. I like to close my eyes while I meditate. Meditation helps me a lot.

About "engaged in meditation, not knowing" - this really often happens. There is nothing dangerous, if you do not go too far and do not go into mystical teachings. A good way to relax, relax. Meditations are different - and contemplation, for example, look at fire, water, nature, listen to the singing of birds and so on, and relaxation and concentration on the sensations of the body ... I just like it. It helps to calm down and get pleasant sensations. Relaxation is one best thing that we need to do,and meditation has the same manners in which you're internalizing, all the feeling inside must be released so the negativity will gone.

But this helps me some while Yoga is making me alive and contended,it gives me the whole world become silent and only a heartbeat sounds like music around

I think meditation is needed because it is very useful for natural healing process is good for mental health and peace of mind. With meditation then our body becomes relaxed and can relieve stress.Di sidelines busy we can take a moment to just sit still and inhale deep breath as much as possible.

concentration is needed to find the way of thinking and solutions to solve the problems you think, if the heart is calm then you will find the thought or the way to find a solution, but if you are not calm or restless then you will be very difficult to find a way. For example, meditation, this way is very functional to calm your mind and heart from all problems, your heart will be calm if there is no thought and this will lead you to relax to increase confidence in facing your problem.

Yeah, I'm more in this line of thought. I don't really think (most) people should be searching for enlightenment when they are meditating. Meditation is trying to calm the chaos of your thoughts. Mindfulness has a lot of benefits to your overall wellbeing - your can reduce the cortisol in your system, reducing stress and making you feel better - mentally and physically.

I think there are also good alternatives to meditation if that's not your thing. Some people enjoy running or cycling to clear their thoughts. It's all a matter of what gets you centered and helps you decompress.

This is the feeling that often comes to me when I am as relaxed as possible. It happens if autofocus did not seem to thoughts and the emptiness. And the moment things get quieter, there's real motivation for me. I try not to resort to this often, but for now, only watch how it works.

There are lot more ideas about meditation. There are unique meditation methods associated with different religions, matial arts, culture etc. Main intention of the meditation is developing our own mind. There are so many steps which englight our sous. It says that we can gain several majical powers after we develop our own mind through meditation. In buddhism there are two types of meditation. They are “samatha bawana” and “vidarshana bawana”. They have two main paths.
Anyway I personally could achieve the calm character of my mind. So as soon as I loss my concentration i started meditatie. It helps me a lot to avoid from this stressfull life

One thing it does is calm my mind. I always try to meditate (not on a meditation pose) whenever I am stuck or out of ideas. Closing my eyes and concentrating to think about empty thoughts really helped me relieved stress. Our mind is so active that it can only go blank for a few minutes. Once the mind comes back from meditation, your mind will be full of ideas and clarity. Try it guys. It really works. Read meditation tutorials online/

I Meditate as form of relaxation. i personally recommend  Meditation as a healthy way to manage stress for good reasons.
I live in the now rather than focusing on the past or the future, so virtually all Meditative practices involve focusing on right now.

I have found that constant practice of  Meditation increases brain activity in an area of the brain associated with happiness and positive thoughts and emotions.

If i feel stress or anxiety I give time to myself to meditate in one day i call it "safe-tic tank" i just want to seat 1 day in my room and playing beat music. This is the time I want to recall when or what i did wrong and how can i fix it. Meditation for me is like healing my soul and mind sometimes it also give to me a waken call or task to handle the situation. After i meditate i make a plan step by step to fix all what my mistake.

I did try to meditate one time and that did not end well. I am the type of person who can't focus on one thing, whenever I clear my mind another thing pops up and it will be a domino effect in the end , I am facing the same problem. These mediation sessions usually last for 1-2 hours and I have found it extremely difficult to concentrate on it for so long. That is one of the reasons why I gave up meditation and yoga. There is no doubt that it is good for the mind and body. But meditation is not meant for people like me.

Meditation, is one way of finding your inner peace. It helps you to relax while unwinding the negative energy that surrounds you. It helps your heart and the circulation of your blood through the body while emptying your mind and and proper breathing. And also helps you to be calm in every situation you encounter .

I  don't think this is a practical advice to beginners. A newbie meditator cannot empty his mind in the beginning. They should first try to focus on one subject, like their breath or a candle, some hook that doesn't let their mind wander from one thought to another.

After a while, when they get better at this, they can start trying to empty their mind from even that  and experience silence, which is still not easy to achieve.. to become a pro meditator, one needs to practice for a long time. and it's worth the effort.

Meditation is an Yogic technique for establishing a link with the inner self by causing a detachment (delinking) from the external stimuli including all kinds of thoughts and feelings of mind and conscience.

There are four techniques and one could follow the one best suitable.

Universal Meditation : It is also called as Pranayama (breathing rhythmic control of mind). This is a practice of breathing rhythms and concentrating the mind only on it. One can practice it for 10 minutes initially and later even to 20 to 30 minutes depending on the time availability.
Mouna Dyanam : (Quiet Meditation) : This is a technique where you keep quiet by shutting your mind from all its wavering for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Sravana dyanam :(meditation through listening to appealing or soulful music). It could be spiritual or classical music for about 30 minutes and keeping mind on it devoutly.
Manana dyanam : (Meditating silently by chanting some spiritual words or mantras, like, Om, or Om sakti Om , or Om namassivaaya, or Om namo narayanaya for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Although, meditation is great, is its rising in popularity linked to the fact that nobody takes time for themselves naturally, everybody is always one click away from a new distraction, tasks..? I think we should reflect on the reason why we need to find this dedicated time that was, not that long ago, just a regular moment of our life.

umm, i think it's largely a waste of time as a learned technical skill. it's not a technical process and thus does not lend itself to a detailed step by step procedure. the very thought of thinking about 'how' to do something is a rational thought....you already lost right there

for me...it's standing outside in a breeze and feeling at one with the trees as they sway. or sitting on a rock in the forest and being so deeply in tune and planted to it that you can feel the universe's breath as you draw in your own. or lying in bed so, still, mind so quiet, and so in tune with every inch of the body that you can feel the pulse of your energy centers up and down your body with your focus.

but meh, whatever works for people i guess.

One of the first benefits you should experience very quickly is calmness. Within a few minutes of beginning you can feel calm wash over you, Meditation promotes the manufacture of serotonin, a chemical that effects our moods and behavior. Low levels are associated with depression and similar mental health issues. Also, as a result of this, cortisol, a stress hormone, drops to a healthier level.

Physically, with help from controlled and focused breathing reduces the work rate of the heart, blood circulation increases, high blood pressure drops. More oxygen gets delivered to the brain and muscles. After meditation you will feel reinvigorated and energetic. Over time, and not too long, this extra vitality can be felt all day long.

Meditation can take many forms. I think the main benefit of meditation is a change of pace. Whatever form of meditation you practice, it usually involves pausing. You take a moment to switch gears. So often, we can get caught up in the rhythm of everyday life. When things are constant in your life, you stop noticing them. Sometimes your brain literally doesn't register that they're there. Meditation helps us to step back and recognize things that have been right in front of our eyes that we haven't noticed. Meditation helps me to evaluate my life and decide whether I am actually doing what I want to do with my life.

Wow, you must be an extremely productive person. Considering how much time the average person spends watching TV or randomly browsing the web, I think the meditation could be much more productive. Maybe you don't have a complete understanding of meditation. I think of meditation as take time to pause. Even if you constantly work on self-development and education, you need to take some time to stop and analyze. You need to stop reading and breathe or you can just get lost in the material and forget to explore how it'll apply to your life specifically. I see journal writing, for example, as a form of education. I think it is very productive.

Meditation can be different. For example, a man who goes by subway with relax music and does not think about anything, does meditation, in some sense of the word. Or when a person draws (and it really inspires and relaxes him), he also meditates. This seems to be called zen-drawing. So there are a lot of meditations, not only classical meditation.
So when i draw and listen to relaxing music, i feel really relaxed. And it helps me to be on one's toes every day

Meditation is a great practice for the mind, body and soul. There is a lot of activity going on around us today. And most time, the speed and lack of direction that characterizes the society today unsettles our minds. In that state, we can't really be optimally productive. Of a truth, we actually can't avoid this chaos. But we must create some time to focus and this is where meditation comes in. We set everything else aside, clear our minds and focus on just one thought. Some even advise that we focus on nothing and let our minds decide for themselves what to be occupied with. The practice comes with a great reward. I speak from experience.
