Title: Why almost everything has to revolve around usa?
Post by: pliznau on October 17, 2013, 07:34:22 AM
Why almost everything has to revolve around usa? Usa does that, usa doesn't do that, usa is going to crash and so on. Short lesson of history: america was discovered by europeans and colonized by them.end of lesson. If everything revolves around them we empower them to cross lines in our lives. It's like they are Earth's core but they are not! The people are earth's core. Crypto currency supposed to cut that bond but still nothing happens. If you want government independancy then stop being afraid of crypto currency.

Its an American working through English site so you will see a lot more US posts here.  Most people only think about their own countries so you can expect a lot of US posts to assume that they are talking to fellow Americans and to assume that the American system is typical.

I wouldn't let it bother you - but then I'm Irish so I know that the world revolves around Dublin  :P

Most Bitcoin exchange transactions use USD. ~70% (http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/volumepie/). Ironically, US customers have been pushed out of most Bitcoin exchanges (both currency and securities) and casinos.

Plenty of people care about BTC price, so plenty of people care about USD. It's changing. BTCChina recently posted 24h volume comparable to Gox, and the 30D CNY/RMB chunk being 13% of all is a pretty huge leap forward, so now there's another area to look at. The Euro, though, even though I know there's a lot of European Bitcoin support, and "super-pockets" of support in some areas like Berlin, and I transact frequently with those in Europe - it has only a tiny sliver of exchange transaction volume, less than 2x that of JPY. Maybe they're more prone to exchange locally, or mine and hold, or buy with gold - but you can't really shake the perception of irrelevance which comes from those charts without a dramatic spike in BTC/EUR activity.

There are other reasons, too. For example, the USG is very aggressive in enforcing its own laws internationally, aggressive in demanding extradition, and seems to think it owns the Internet - so its laws (current and future) can be worth getting familiar with and tracking.

This exactly. Unfortunately, if you don't pay attention to the USA and you start pissing them off, pretty soon a new client government has been installed in your country.  :-\

Let's jump back 2000 years and replace the word "USA" with "Roman Empire"

Why almost everything has to revolve around the Roman Empire? the Roman Empire does that, the Roman Empire doesn't do that, the Roman Empire is going to crash and so on. Short lesson of history: Early Rome was governed by kings, but after only seven of them had ruled, the Romans took power over their own city and ruled themselves.end of lesson. If everything revolves around them we empower them to cross lines in our lives. It's like they are Earth's core but they are not! The people are earth's core. Crypto currency supposed to cut that bond but still nothing happens. If you want government independancy then stop being afraid of crypto currency.

To know History and to know why everything is as is is never "end of story". The reason why the USA became what it is now was thanks to multiple world wars in Europe. Europe gave up spending money in their own military and intelligence and outsourced them with the CIA (almost not totally) and NATO. Everybody in Europe knew being under the Soviet umbrella was not a good thing. So while Europe was rebuilding from its own misery and ruins they were looking at a wall with barbed wires and guns, cutting Germany in half.

The USA gave us Les Paul, Moog, Mac Donald, the Celtics, CBGB, the 357 Magnum, the Atari 2600, . The Soviet gave us the Lada, the UAZ 452 Minivan, the AKA 47 and the first female swimming body builder Olympic team.

The Soviet Union and communism lost the battle of the 20th century and imploded under its own weight. The USA won! The Berlin wall was no more. But as any living organism, the thirst for power and control can never stop if everyone closes their eyes and stop being investigating journalists. Now we have Prism and a system of total surveillance, the Stasi's wet dream.

If your age is less than 25 I understand your question.

Biggest army, most traded currency, the biggest part of the technology sector revolves around the companies in Silicon Valley plus it helps that
they control most of the media/internet/news. Plus if you read/speak in English you will get pointed to the USA time and time again.
If you're sick of the USA learn Chinese, Japanese or Arabic.

Actually no. China has the largest army, some 1.000.000 soldiers then USA, then USa, then India, North Korea.... Japan is the most technologically advanced country, even South Korea is more advanced then USA. Control of news and media is nothing compared to some other countries, and most of people living in USA don't even know how can news be controlled. English can point anyone to any English speaking country, some of them: UK, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, USA...
So, again English ≠ USA. And one more thing regarding how many people speak certain language

If you spend more cash on something it doesn't mean you get more. You could also pay for quality. But when numbers overwhelm you quality doesn't matter. For instance the chinese. They are so damn many and in my country Romania in every city you go you will see lots and lots of chinese people and the bigger the city the bigger their numbers. And that's happening in most countries. They are common people but imagine if they have to fight for their families back in china to survive. So spending more doesn't mean you have the edge.

If you say so. Personally I don't think a war with China would have much to do with infantry.

If I buy a single car for 200.000$ and I you buy 20 cars for 5k each who will transport 100T faster considering you have 20 drivers? You ofc. China has 2.5mill soldiers atm and it can probably mobilase 20mill more in case of war. Also America spends some 700 billion on military while China spends 180 billion. So thats not even 4x more. Also keep in mind that average pay for their soldiers isnt even close to average pay for USA soldiers.

Not a problem. Always go to the source as much as possible, not the main stream media. And if this source is a book, always try to get a good profile of the author's political viewpoint. Then get another source talking about the same subject but with someone on the other end of the political compass. The truth about anything will be somewhat in the middle. That middle will you making your own mind.
Everything is in permanent state of flux, but on a tangent line, like the price of a bitcoin :)

If you refuse that exercise then you'll become naive and ultimately cynical and bitter about everything.

If you think a war against China would come down to jeeps and soldiers your probably right, but what scenario could possibly lead to that? China spent a lot more last year then in the past, but it takes years for that money to take effect. A larger population and about 35% more people in the military is no game changer. They need to build things like battleships before they outpace us.

Annual DoD Report Claims Steady Chinese Military Expansion

http://www.defensenews.com/article/20130506/DEFREG02/305060008/

WASHINGTON — China continues to rapidly modernize and expand its military and has deployed an anti-ship missile that could attack vessels more than 1,500 kilometers away, according to a new Pentagon report.

The Pentagon’s annual assessment on the growth of China’s military also said the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is likely behind attacks on US computer networks.

“In 2012, numerous computer systems around the world, including those owned by the U.S. government, continued to be targeted for intrusions, some of which appear to be attributable directly to the Chinese government and military,” said the report, which was released on Monday.

The administration has been more public about cyber attacks from China in recent months, starting with Thomas Donilon, President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, naming China in a March speech and culminating in high-level military talks at the end of April.

By committing to paper the notion that China, and specifically the Chinese military, is behind some of these cyber intrusions, the report continues the pressure on China to negotiate a solution to the escalating problem.

China’s military budget continues to grow. In March, China announced an annual military budget of $114 billion, a 10.7 percent increase. Between 2003 and 2012, Beijing’s budget grew an average of 9.7 percent each year.

But DoD projects China is spending much more on defense than it discloses. In 2012, the DoD estimates China spent between $135 billion and $215 billion on military-related expenditures.

Growth in Chinese military spending is getting extra attention as part of the Pentagon’s effort to place a greater focus on the Asia-Pacific region following a decade of conducting counterinsurgency missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The PLA continued its naval and aircraft advancements in 2012.

China commissioned its first aircraft carrier in September 2012 and conducted its first launch and recovery of a fighter aircraft in November.

“We anticipate that China will spend the next three to four years on training and integration before achieving an operationally effective aircraft carrier capability,” David Helvey, deputy assistant secretary of defense for East Asia, said Monday during a briefing at the Pentagon. “China will likely build several indigenous aircraft carriers over the next 15 years.”

If you were to consider the number of "armed" people in the USA, 1.000.000 is a tiny number, so is 2.500.000.
