Just one question..
why?
For the sake of it. :)
So people can move their coins at least. :)

The better question is "Does the coin deserve to still be alive".
Why not? It's still trading on Bter, so I did the update.
It was interesting to me btw.

It's better left dead. Why not create a new one?

Y'know, it was a really fun time when this altcoin mania started (again). CNC was one of the first of this wave.

Windows binaries on the way.

Stand alone windows binaries package is incomplete.  Exception "mingwm10.dll is missing".

Hopefully didn't need to change from prior version as I just copied the new dlls over the old ones for what was in the package.

Thanks for the update.

now what to do with a couple thousand of these coins... ???

Thanks, going to update the archive.

I asked Bter to update and Coinex to add CNC. We'll see how it turns out.

Dead coins should stay dead.
Well everyone's already understood your opinion.
No need to repeat.
After all, it's not you who decides what should be and what shoudn't, but the community. ;)

Someone can ask Cryptsy to re-list it.

It's rising and feeling very well lately. The last hard fork is a total success. The price has doubled over this week.

Yeah, it's looking very good for CHNCoin.

The diff algo is very responsive, months before it got stuck many times and nobody supported it so it got removed.
But CHNCoin could still go back to the price when it was on BTC-E.

I just sent a mail to BTC-E and VirCurEx with the question to re-add it.
Maybe someone can send a mail to a Chinese exchange too? My Chinese got a bit rusty  ;D

It was corrected in hardfork (wallet version >=0.6.5) by RoadTrain (cuz original programmer abandon project).
Now slow(limited) diff readjustments but every block. No more "diff trap"!

The difficulty adjustment has made this a top coin on coinwarz. We should continue the development of the coin as there's been a solid constant hashrate.

I'd be willing to help.

I'm still sitting on my coins from spring 2013.  No way I was giving them away for nothing!

Gonna mine this again for a while for the crack.

Still cant sync qt wallet though.  deleted and re- D/L block.dat   still no joy.

Any advice about that please?

This worked for me, I couldn't sync until all files within the roaming folder under %appdata%\CHNCoin were removed. Of course you must have a backup of the wallet.dat file and paste it back in afterwards. It should start syncing right when you re-open after the update to CHNCoin 0.6.5

I transferred several hundred CNC to Bter today, and there is no sign of them after about 500 confirmations. It's odd how they say

Quote
Notice: It might take longer than normal to deposit to Bter from mining pool or deposit solo mining generated coins if the sender pay no transaction fee to the network.

since the lack of fees should affect the confirmations directly.

The link to "sync" your deposits into your balance seems a little weird too, there isn't such a manual step in any other exchange I've used.

Of course, this isn't exactly my life savings, I simply mined a few blocks for the lulz at some point ;)

Got my coins after support response.

Wow, I had basically forgotten about my CNC loss as the whole thing looked so fishy, but this made me think again. After a few emails with Bter support, I got my CNC back :)

The "contact us" link on the top, support@bter.com.

It does sound strange, but I guess they had some technical problems -- CNC deposits were disabled for several days, right after my first attempt of depositing.

Sveral days = over 200days in my case. And 15-20 emails to support@bter.com (and admin@bter.com) in that timeperiod still stand unanswered.

BFL wins "customerservice of the year" award compared to these guys..

It IS trading on bter:

https://bter.com/trade/cnc_cny  (vs China Yan)
https://bter.com/trade/cnc_btc (vs BTC)
https://bter.com/trade/cnc_ltc (vs LTC, but i not recommend - very low liquidity and activity in this pair)

And on cryptsy:
https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/8 (vs BTC)
https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/17 (vs LTC)

If it's trading on both cryptsy and bter there must be some good nodes still available. I have not synched in ages, so all mine are out of date. Surely someone can post some.

PXC was resurrected 6 months ago. There are many other coins which have changed their developers.

This coin was successful after relaunch but suddenly it lost a bit attention and BTER removed it.
The name is great :)

Title: Re: CHNCoin resurrected!
Post by: Mad_Max on May 02, 2015, 05:46:22 PM
BTER do NOT remove CHNCoin! It works after relaunch (resurrection) without major interruptions (trade stop only with all other coins at BTER global problems after BTC steal)

And it is available to trade right now on 2 trade pairs:

CNC / CNY = https://bter.com/trade/cnc_cny

CNC / BTC = https://bter.com/trade/cnc_btc

Cryptsy CNC/BTC market also active.

By the way - nice CNC price rise last 2 weeks, not fast but steady: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/chncoin/#charts

about +200% (price x3 from <100 Sat to ~300 Sat) in 2-3 weeks  ;)

Can someone post a new set of nodes?

If you not sync long ago and client can't find working nodes this hint should help:

- stop running client
- open port for incoming connections (for CNC = 8106) on your router/firewall
- delete peers.dat from data folder (it is full of outdated nodes which slow down search for new nodes)
- start client again

After i do this (client was not synced about half year) - i got 8 active connection in first 10 minutes (most of them incoming)
Downloading > 200k new blocks right now...

i recently had some problems with my blockchain and can no longer get connected. if you would be able to use the command "getpeerinfo" and post the results it would be a great help

Ok, here my current peer list.
But as i wrote in the previous message - most of them inbound (they connect to me), so probable have CNC client port closed/blocked and you can not connect to such nodes (only allow them to connect to you)

It looks like BTER has about half the coins https://coinplorer.com/CNC
50 wallets with 100k plus, and a lot of them are old. Interesting that a lot of the smaller wallets were created three to seven months ago. Someone has been doing something.

870,000 blocks X 88 = ~77 million coins total

If Litecoin recovers and another cnc wallet is made Chncoin could do well. Maybe risky.

Our team obtained many of the cryptocurrencies that were frozen on Cryptsy's servers when the exchange collapsed. The CHNcoin wallet.dat was among those recovered.

We are now in the process of giving these wallet files back to their respective communities. The wallet has not been inspected and it's unknown if it contains any coins. If you are a developer of this coin, or a longstanding community member, you can file a request for the wallet in this thread: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3789.0

Fairglu made an explorer for ChinaCoin at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cnc/ so now there are two explorers.

The other one prohashing's explorer at https://prohashing.com/explorer/CHNcoin/

Some nodes
addnode=157.161.128.62
addnode=217.175.119.126
addnode=52.14.92.197
addnode=72.184.183.243
addnode=78.97.130.200
addnode=76.68.183.81
Prohashing's node for this coin is 98.115.147.74:8106

What are you using for IDENTIFIER and PREFIX on the p2pool config for CHN?

Thank you,

You addressed the question to me but I have no idea how pools work, I do not mine.

Copied from main thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192243.msg1991486

This is the first thread for this coin. The dev posted in Chinese and English then went underground. The second thread is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=322488.0

The windows wallet on this thread 0.6.3 very clean for a wallet from that era https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/7c5ccff761407eb304fca4ead26639999134efe83218d03e4e8902d4b708b139/analysis/1497380089/

The windows wallet on the new thread likewise very clean https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/d939224b3c78c033c637b865685c1f444bbfd5e9c01dea6975e75f74cde14480/analysis/1497380187/

The old wallet synchs very raidly up to block 24,500 then seems to get stuck. The newer wallet 0.6.5 synchs pretty fast.

The largest wallet has 84% of coins and is almost certainly BTER's cold wallet https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cnc/address.dws?261864.htm

Assuming that is correct, then chn coin seems to have excellent distribution so far. Since so many coins are on the exchange they would be in the hands of Chinese speculators, which seems reasonable for a coin called China coin made by a Chinese person.

The next wallet has 6% and wallets #3 to #500 go from 1,490,132.8 to 1,332.8 .

BTER was hacked a few years ago and in my opinion handled the hack well, though a lot of people criticized the fact that they limited certain withdrawals. From what I can tell that exchange seems to be recovering well and if chn coin becomes popular it will probably become a major exchange again, though they have started doing some kind of Chinese aml form that might restrict westerners, I have not traded there in a long time and do not know if outsiders have to do that paperwork.

In the last 4 days the coin has passed its recent highs and is hitting 3 year highs. Today it is up again some. Looks like a good coin.

note
current supply is 171m, not the number on cmc. Current market cap according to cryptoid is 3.19m usd. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cnc/

Domain registration was updated April 2017 https://whois.domaintools.com/chncoin.org

The only nodes shown at cryptoid are 0.6.5 but at least one computer 58.51.197.208:8106 is using 0.6.4 from https://sourceforge.net/projects/chncoin/files/  ??? and one poor soul using 0.6.3 at 176.159.125.118:8106 but probably they have been waiting several years for their wallets to synch  :P

Halving is every 4 years, which is better than most coins, and there was no premine, but it was released on the Chinese language thread 4 hours before the English thread, though the English thread has been much more active. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cnc/block.dws?83620ee23c8cdfc2b6c7d712baf583c855be05870a8b8ba41731077cacdc5258.htm

First halving is at 2,628,000 right now at 1,950,980

I'm new to mining, and I thought I'd give it a shot with CHNCoin but it became clear very quickly that it's just no use without specialized hardware. I was just curious how other people fare, what hardware they use, and if there are any other "trade secrets" I should know before considering this as a hobby.

Fuck it!
CNC has survived 4 years of shitcoin holocaust.

It might as well make it another 4!

if you mine it .. it lives!
Not unless there is means of transferring.  I have mined the sh*t out of a coin which, after the main coin forked to POS, now provides no functioning wallet, as there is no connected block source.  So, essentilaly my coin....BLOCKS are stuck in what amounts to a paper wallet.
