I'm not sure if the above statement is a misnomer or an oxymoron (or both). As I see it, here's the rub. A misogynistic asshole would not be teamed up with any women what-so-ever due to the fact that a man who is misogynistic hates all women, therefore would not even consider a relationship with a woman, hence a woman not ending up with a misogynistic asshole. A contingency plan is good for the marriage as well. It gives you peace of mind about your options allowing you to behave more calmly in the marriage and without preasures and shows that if you stay in the marriage is because you want to and are fully commited, not because you need to.

I would be suspicious of any partner in a marriage that does not have any options.

Assuming the courts recognize their value at all, I could see her winning a judgment (particularly since you say your marriage is a 10 year marriage, and depending on what state you live in that almost certainly makes half those, hers) for the current USD value at the time of the divorce. She may never be able to actually collect on that judgment but she can sure make your life shitty.

So yeah, you enjoy your contingency plan that any divorce lawyer teamed up with a PI worth their salt would unravel. I'll enjoy my 11 year marriage with a wife who's not a sponge and legitimately deserves half of everything we've built in the last decade.

If you don't have a prenup to that effect, it doesn't matter what she or you think right now - it only matters what you guys think leading up to the divorce hearing. Either you have a prenuptial agreement that you don't share your assets (which I'm cool with, don't get me wrong) or you're just a weasel hiding shit and thinking that somehow makes you some mastermind at relationships.

If you and your wife are married and agree that should the relationship take a dump, what's yours is yours and what's hers is hers... that's great. You don't need Bitcoin for that. That's actually not a terrible thing if that's what she wants for herself.

If you'll check my posting history you'll see I've long been of the opinion that Bitcoin has a huge public perception problem and one of those issues is we come off as a huge circle of women-haters (at best, at worst: a bunch of forever-aloners). Comments to the tune of "Bitcoin is good for hiding money from your spouse if things go sour" certainly don't help that.

Alright fine, I'll play along. There's a few problems with your statement:

• It was in a chain of comments about hiding assets from a spouse (again, the Bitcoin PR problem);
• Without any context, it implies subterfuge... again, if there is a clear and understood agreement to maintain financial separation, Bitcoin is not useful at all in such a situation;
• The language "smart men", in the context it's in, contributes to the misogynistic tone, intentional or not;
• At no point until after I and others called you on it did you fix your story - there's a twinge in me that doesn't believe you, and I'm sure I'm not the most cynical person who would look up Bitcoin.

No, I posted in this thread in my long standing effort to clean up the cesspool that Bitcoin's perceived as by the public at large - mostly due to the loudmouths on this forum. It's pretty tough to suggest the idea of Bitcoin to anyone when if they go look it up on their own, the first things they see are people shrieking: "taxation is theft" and whenever the subject of women-folk come up it's "whores", "buy them shoes and undies with bitcoin lol" and "I use bitcoin to hide assets from my wife, it's okay though because I'm pretty sure she's hiding shit from me too."

It should be noted I'm not calling everyone on this forum part of the idiot circus, there are a few center stage and the majority of the users are simply sitting on the sidelines - I also didn't insult everyone in the thread, I only insulted you, and only because of this air of smug superiority apparently because of your financial relationship with your spouse.

This is not a troll attempt (another pet peeve of mine with the forums, any contrary opinion is automatically a troll - most users have absolutely no fucking clue what the term means in the context of the internet) - this is genuine self-reflect on us as a community.
