Title: Electroneum (ETN) Mobile Miner
Post by: sheenarif on April 14, 2018, 07:21:43 AM
My last thread about ETN was deleted because it violated the forum rules. So I am keeping this thread simple and according to the rules.

ETN Mobile Miner is a nice concept for the awareness of Electroneum and reached 80K + miners in a short span of time. So guys start mining ETN 😍😍

Electronium is a very good coin in the future it can make X10 can even more, so the miner is a good miner. Well, I think so :D

Do you think it is worth to mine whatever coin with your mobile phone or mobile device ? I am an IT and you should know that mining on laptops, mobiles or tablets is never recommended as these devices will get very hot while mining and will crash and sometimes even total failure of the motherboard can happen in a very short amount of time.

Electroneum is not looking that good now that many asic miners especially created for Cryptonight algorithm where Electroneum is part of have made the difficulty to skyrocket and is not anymore worth mining even with mining computers and with mobile devices is a total failure too.

You are an Information Technology? What on earth is that? Precision of language please.

Anyway, you could be misinformed, ETN mobile mining is only simulated on a mobile phone. Rewards are given simply for running the app even if it doesn't really use much of your mobile phone's CPU resources.

Well my colleagues have tested that and I checked their phones, they maybe claiming that they don't use much CPU resources but their phones were really hot when the app was running. Mobile phone I am talking are all the same, Samsung Galaxy A5 given by our company. I still say that people should not risk their devices for a ridiculous amount of dollars they will be receiving monthly, it simply is not worth it, they are shortening the life of their mobile when using this and any other miner.

Well I am glad for you so far, still I would never risk my phone especially a 400 dollar phone like the latest Samsung Galaxy A5 for a small monthly reward of few dollars. My phone is an Iphone and so far I didn't see a miner to test on my phone but the Samsungs were running really hot.

Nothing is getting hot my friend, I am using it in 4 Samsung phones, Galaxy S8, C9 Pro, A7 :) Don't spread any FUD here, just read Electroneum website before commenting here my friend :)

Dude, the mobile miner is a simulated miner. Its a free faucet when you keep it on lol. It is just a pain because it will shut you down every once in awhile and have you fill some stupid form to turn it back on.

The "mobile miner" is not truly mining, just simulation of mining results based off your phone capabilities.  However, the ETN resulting from running the ''mobile miner" is real.

Yes it is not real mining but they named it Mobile Miner and the result is real which gives you real ETN :)

The ETN miner is indeed nice for awareness but you won't earn anything meaningless using it. I have tried mining with a powerful smartphone (octa core + 8GB ram) but it doesn't compare to any PC/laptop that you can buy with the money you would pay for the smartphone.

I was able to get about 40 h/s, any mid range PC/Laptop would get you at least 80 - 100 h/s just by mining it with your CPU. Throw in a second-hand GPU and you'll be making a lot more. :)

I don't know why are you saying it, I am using it from last 10 days in 4 phones and mined almost 450 ETN. So it is really giving me some amount without any harm to my mobile :)

There are some updates going on in App, all the ETN will be credited to the respective wallets after the updates. Stay tuned :)

It is because of the heavy load on the transaction server, transfer of ETN to the wallets are delayed due to this. The ETN team is working on it. It will be resolved soon :)

10 ETN is correct, but due to huge increase of the app user suddenly there is a delay in transaction process, for this reason all the ETN will be collected in the main page itself. After the transaction process comes to normal the ETN will automatically Transfered to ETN wallet :)

Is the mobile miner really profitable since the power consumed for mining would be limited because the battery capacity of the phone is not that strong compared to PC where it uses electricity? How much profit you guys get after you battery run off? What phone and what brand?

Are you aware right that ETN mobile miner is just simulation? It is only free coin to stimulate the mass adoption of the coin for a daily usage later.
For sure, since its free coins you can mining it with your phone to the death without broke your phone because it's not really utilize the hardware.
But you will not earns that much.
I suggest, just trow your old desktop computer or laptop and start mining with it. Wake your old computer from death. Old desktop that give you 300 - 500 h/s will be quite good to earn real ETN by mining it.
Happy mining! ;-)

Oh, now i see. They were just paying you because you ran their simulator but in reality it doesn't really give you any ETN because they provide the ETN for you. They were just more likely a campaign but on mobile phone while using their mining simulator. So, what if they stop doing that like giving you ETN and they have decided to stopped giving you ETN in the future because they got what they want. I don't know if it is worth it to do that, but it's just like you are watching an ads for every game to get the money.

Don't play a game here Mr. IOST by spreading FUD, they are paying means everyone is getting ETN, they will continue it because Mobile Miner users are increasing day by day, they have crossed 80K+ members in a short span of time. So better don't say anything negative. We aren't saying anything wrong about any other token here. So if you can not help than you must not say anything bad also. I hope you understand. If you want ETN than just go for it :)

They are giving ETN without any task my friend, all for free. They are not saying to take part in any airdrop or ICO or any bounty like others. You just have to install this app in your phone and thats it my friend.

How can you say that we can not earn anything, I have earned ETN worth 20$ in just 15 days from my phone. That means I will get ETN worth 40$ a month. The price of ETN is also rising day by day. That will be a good benefit for me if I continue my Mobile Miner in same way. Many users are earning more than me because of their phone capabilities. So I recommend ETN mobile miner. It is giving less but it is giving 100% my friend.

Correctly and have made that would delete your branch. Mobile mining is a Scam. I don't know where you get stats on 80,000 users. I don't believe there are so many stupid people. Perhaps you are focusing on the statistics of users who have downloaded your application. But I'm sure most of them have already removed the app.

For the people like you BTC is also a scam, but you can see where BTC is :) Mobile Miner is running successfully. There is some decrease in users in numbers but it does not mean that it is a scam. Mobile Miner is official product of ETN Team my friend. You are in a wrong world I think. Scam Scam all around for you :)

Yes, it does! Just check it regularly, for example if you switch places - home, school/university/work and so on if it is still mining. I, for example, have some issues with the miner when I switch places and I still cannot understand why, but everytime I leave the office or my place I need to restart the miner. I am constantly on mobile data, dunno what's causing this issue.

Yes it happens sometime, its because of the network failure sometimes or because of the low network signals which decreases the speed of internet in the mobile phones :)

I have a question does the app continue to run in the background after the screen lock goes on and after the screen dims

Thanks I let the app run and went back to check and it was stopped to I had to restart it I whish they would fix it I'd like to leave it run while I'm working I don't have time to keep checking it

This issue is with some users, I'm using ETN app on 4 phones and mined almost 800 ETN in 15 days. I'm sure they will fix it, actually nowadays they are working on the transaction system :)

Hi All,

I just wanted to drop an end of the week update to let everyone know that we've switched the automated miner payout system back on! You should see your payments coming through soon!
I should re-iterate that your ETN has never been at risk and no ETN or ETN earnings have been lost through this delay. If your payment failed at any time in the past, it will automatically be re-tried until you get it.

We understand your frustration if payouts have been slow, but we've only just come out of BETA and this has been a great test of the payout system, uncovering some bugs that needed fixing. At some point there will be an increase in the payout threshold, which will help to reduce the number of blockchain transactions. We've kept it deliberately low at 10 ETN to stress test the system and find the weak points before our corporate partners go live. We are rolling out an app update soon that gives more notifications about the mining payments, making it easier to understand and follow.

Yesterday we had over 125,000 miners at some point during 24 hours - but we only saw 77,000 miners live at any one time. With that information, and the fact that Apple have still pushed back on the iPhone app, we would like to ask YOU, our community to answer a quick poll about the mobile miner, which could enable us to find a solution for Apple iPhone users and developing world users that have limited internet access.

The miner currently has to work in the background of your phone and you need to ensure you always have internet access.

If given the option would you:

Prefer to keep the miner exactly as it is now, requiring 24 hour internet access and background mode.

OR

Prefer to make a daily interaction at a time convenient for you. This will take just a few seconds when you're online and could even allow earning ETN via the web page.

Thanks everyone :)

Please visit the below link for the poll :)

yea but that's using watts

you can have it running on your cell phone at 30hs and it uses very little battery

it's free coins for participating

BLOCKCHAIN UPDATE MAY 30TH & DIVERGENCE FROM MONERO

This is a big announcement for Electroneum.

See bottom of this article for the full details of the blockchain tech update.

Some of our community have been worried about our blockchain tech, especially regarding ASIC miners and blockchain flooding. We will cover these below along with the announcement of some exciting major changes to the way our blockchain runs.

ETN Blockchain Update May 30th

Monero (who we based our blockchain code on) perform an update approximately every 6 months, and this is a great practice, as it allows them to keep their technology moving forward and introduce new features. We will be following this model and our first major update (also known as a fork) is scheduled to take place at block 307500 which is approximately 10.30am BST on May 30th.

Don’t panic! – Forking explained

It’s important for everyone to understand that whilst this is known as a fork, it is very different to Bitcoin forking to bitcoin cash or bitcoin gold. The fork will not result in two currencies, as all the exchanges and pools will update their software in advance of the update block and Electroneum will continue with an updated blockchain.

Time to test and implement

The end of May gives our community plenty of time to test and comment on the code changes that we will post on GitHub by Friday 5th of May. It also gives plenty of time for every node owner to update their Electroneum nodes, ready for the update block.

Electroneum divergence from Monero

We’ve always planned to move the Electroneum blockchain further towards reaching our goals, which in turn will move us away from Monero’s goals. We chose Monero because they’d written an awesome dynamic blocksize algorithm, but they also have some features that are not critical to Electroneum’s future. In this Electroneum update we’ve started to diverge away from some core Monero functionality. As we move towards a lean, fast blockchain to handle vast numbers of micropayments we need to lose some of the overhead that comes with the privacy of Monero. We are still going to be far more private than Bitcoin or Ethereum (for instance you won’t be able to look at someone else’s wallet balance), but by decreasing some of the privacy features we can fit significantly more transactions into a block, which is critical for our next stage of growth as our corporate partners start to bring on user numbers, and our vendor program starts delivering instant cryptocurrency acceptance into online and physical shops and stores. In short Monero is the best privacy coin in the world, where we need to be the best micropayment system in the world.

ETN Blockchain Tech Update (Details)

Anti- ASIC. An ASIC is a computer chip that has been made for a specific task. In this instance the task is to mine the CryptoNight algorithm that Electroneum uses. We are implementing Anti-ASIC code to ensure we have maximum resistance to any network attack that could occur in the future. Limiting mining to GPU’s reduces the chances of a single entity possessing enough hashing power to attempt a 51% network attack. It’s important to note that there is no proof of a 51% network attack having taken place on the Electroneum blockchain.

Transfer Fee Increase. There have been a lot of comments about our transfer fee being too low. It is important to our project that the fee remains low, because we are going to be focusing on instant payments and instant micropayments in the real world, and we need fees that are lower than typical debit / credit card fees. However, we have suffered from blockchain flooding so are taking steps to ensure we are resistant to this in the future. We have therefore decided to increase our base fee to 0.1 ETN. This is still a fraction of the cost of transfer of other cryptocurrencies, but still increases the difficulty of flooding by an order of magnitude. Combined with our other updates (below) this will give us more effective resistance to blockchain flooding.
Increase block size before penalty. We have been enormously successful and  seen some periods with huge amounts of legitimate blockchain transaction traffic. This, combined with blockchain flooding, has meant periods of blockchain delays. By increasing the block size before penalty, miners will be able to scale the blocks faster and get more transactions into a block. This will handle regular transactions and flood transactions, making delays less likely. Combined with the Fee increase this is a significant resistance enhancement to flooding.

Disabling of RingCT & Mixin. RingCT was introduced by Monero whose main focus is privacy. Our main focus is bulk transactions for a mass audience, and thus we are disabling some of the privacy features of the blockchain. Disabling some privacy features means we can fit significantly more transactions into each block than with them enabled. This means less wait to get a transaction into a block and a leaner blockchain size. Wallets are still private as we will continue to use a new stealth wallet address for every blockchain transaction so there is still significantly more privacy than with Bitcoin or Ethereum, but considerably less privacy than with a privacy focused coin like Monero.

Mempool life to 3 days. During high transactional volumes it is feasible that a transaction can remain in the mempool for 24 hours and reach the current limit. This would mean the transaction is returned to the sender, but that could take up to 7 days. By increasing the mempool life to 3 days (and in conjunction with some of the additional changes) we are ensuring a significant reduction in the possibility of these returned transactions.

2 minute blocks. Blocks are currently mined every minute. We are moving to two minute blocks which will significantly decrease the chance of an orphan block being created. Orphan blocks might contain transactions which will eventually (7 days) be returned or added to another block. Increasing the block time to 2 minutes has ramifications on the block reward which will be modified (see below).

Block Reward. We are doubling the block reward to ensure daily ETN block reward remains the same, despite the fact that we are releasing blocks at half the current speed. This means there will be no discernable effect to miners or pools.

Reduce difficulty window. Block difficulty window is being reduced. The block difficulty is calculated by looking at the last X blocks. It has come to our attention that by hitting the ETN blockchain with large powered rented hashing power gives the miner an advantage over a short period of time (until the difficulty algorithm catches up with the new hashing rate). We are reducing the difficulty window to reduce the benefit these periodic miners have and to discourage this practice, making the mining process fairer. This should have little or no effect on the difficulty number itself except during the exceptional circumstances described.

Thanks for taking the time to read this update! If you are running an Electroneum node remember to update before May 30th. If you are using a pool, ensure you let their telegram or other social channel know that this update is critical and must be applied before May 30th, in advance of block 307500.

Have a great day everyone,

Haha wow i was gonna say 1 cent a day (.3etn) seemed like too much of a joke. That's how much a real miner at 30h/s would make according to whattomine.com mining calculator for etn

After 6 or however many hours i'm already at 3.33 etn which is a nice surprise.. actually not as much of a joke now

The mobile miner seems interesting with a neat & clean GUI. However, something's buzzing me. Even after a few days of continuous mobile mining, my battery drainage is showing less than 4% consumed by this ETN mobile miner, which seems unrealistic when we're talking about "mining".

To me, it now seems like they're actually off-loading their pre-mine of ETN through payouts of mobile-mining (the miner looks like pretty dummy and something similar to countdown/timer). ::)

I didn't try ETN mobile miner yet but is this mining app of phone would be profitable? I mean, that tiny batter that your phone have would be drained and would need to change in no time if you want to mine. Now, if your battery would be damage in a week of mining, would the earnings could pay for the damage and could let you have your new battery? Please convince me  ;D

ETN Mobile Miner is i think designed by ETN network for spreading and populating Electroneum as mobile miner mining spread is very low even on high class mobile phone too. so i think this is best way for ETN awareness.

Actually, it's not a thing to be proud of them. They didn't release the miner, instead, they released something like a counter in the name of a miner.

If they're really distributing the pre-mined ETN to mobile-miners, this strategy won't last longer.

Yes it is now giving a constant speed of 30+h/s, earlier it was giving speed according to mobile processor. With a constant speed every phone will get same amount of ETN. Earlier the costly phone users were getting more and vice versa. Now its good with constant speed  :)

Will try this out with my smart phone. For those experienced ETN miners, what do you think is better to mine? is it with 3-5 mobile phones or with a higher specs computer?

IMO, it's worth it to mine it with your mobile phones if you believe that ETN has any future ahead in upcoming years and it can touch the ATH once again, this way, you can just hold them up for a while once you get something from mining it. If you're not planning to hold, and just planning to mine n' cash-out, then it might not be worth it for you. For a few cents (like 4 to 8 cents) daily, I don't think so that you'll like to keep an app opened up all the time.

I personally don't believe that Electroneum can do anything extra-ordinary in future, however, if there's any crypto boom like we've seen in past years (like the one we saw in December last year), that can surely pump up electroneum and it might even surpass its current ATH. That'd be the best time to cash-out all your mined ETN.

You can use miner in your phone, it is not affecting your mobile in any way, it runs in the background. Those who are not happy with using their mobile for some earning are the ones who only do quotes but never give positive feedback about any good development. The ETN team is working hard to make it possible. Many users are earning good ETN witb this mobile miner. Its very handy. There are people who are using mobile miner but than also talking negative regarding it. I'm using this miner in 4 mobiles in my home and all of them are getting 8 to 9 ETN on daily basis. I'm getting 35 ETN daily on an average. The price is also increasing. 35 ETN is not that bad in any case my friend. Let the people talk anything without knowing the benefits. I suggest this for everyone to try it once :)

Thanks for giving me an idea about it. I wasn't sure if it's worth it to take only to mine and cash out and you really helped me out with my thought. It also makes me think that this can be a good coin to hold since the developers are active with this.

I've got nothing to lose but only the power of my phones energy if I'll try it out. I know this is normal for those who are asking and wants to try it out, we are asking for daily basis and you are getting 35 ETN * $0.02 = $0.7 - $0.8.
How many hours do you usually render in mining for this number of ETN?

we've got kept it intentionally low at 10 ETN to stress take a look at the device and locate the weak factors earlier than our company companions pass live. we are rolling out an app update soon that gives greater notifications about the mining bills, making it simpler to recognize and follow.

Without trying anything you will not be able to say anything about that, it is not taking any energy out of your phone as it is just a simulation of miner. The name is miner but actually they are giving away free ETN without affecting your phone :)

Do you get more ETN when you log into 2 phones with your account and mine with both of them?

Yah I have the same issue it says it pays out every 10 ETN however now I've got more than that pending and it isn't paying out.

Also it refuses to stay open on my phone and after about a day or so I end up having to reopen the app and put my PIN in.  Makes keeping it open to "mine" a little harder.

NEW WEEKLY UPDATE

Hi everyone we’re keen to keep you updated with everything going on at Electroneum, moving forward we will release a weekly update doing just that.

This week we have a couple of key announcements; one big milestone, a set of nice photos and some exciting new partnerships and listings, helping us move closer to mass adoption one step at a time.

App update

We’ve listened to you- the community and thanks to your great feedback we’ve further developed the app to easily track and notify you of your Miner pay-outs. Your Mobile Miner has additional functions- we have new visual notifications on your wallet progress which include; payment received, payment processing and payment queued-so that you know your pay-outs are secure.

100,000 Mobile Miners & 1.25m Users

Adding to the update above ETN hit 100,000 mobile miners for the first time since the app went live and we now have 1.25m confirmed users. We’ve done this without any marketing. Marketing will begin as soon as we launch our instant payment system, allowing vendors to accept ETN easily, and instantly. This is our first milestone of mass adoption. We are going to make cryptocurrency widely and easily accepted and you are all part of that!

New exchanges

We have been listed on three new exchanges; these exchanges will provide another platform for the community to buy and exchange- we look forwards to welcoming new investors as ETN continues to grow;

Altex

Cryptonit

LetsDoCoinz

The Real Company launch commemorative silver ETN coin

To celebrate last year’s record-breaking ICO, her company, The Real Coin Company, has created a collectible silver coin made of 1 troy oz. pure silver bearing the ETN logo!  These collector’s coins are on sale now. Only a small number of coins are being minted before the dies will be destroyed, so if you’re interested in celebrating our ICO and owning a valuable collector’s coin (the first ever ICO Commemorative coin), I suggest you check it out here: https://therealcoincompany.com

As part of the collector’s coin offering, The Real Company will be giving 10% of every purchase to a very special charity: https://www.charitywater.org/

Exciting news! Electroneum is now being used by another online retailer –  MGX, one of the first in our mass adoption campaign. They are eagerly awaiting our instant payment option to make the checkout even more slick!

You can purchase goods with ETN at their store just like you would with any fiat currency! MGX has already traded ETN daily since launch. See here for more details on this exciting new venture:
https://megaxstore.com/…/electroneum-now-accepted-at-megaxs…

And finally…

You’ve been asking for this for a long time – now you get to see our lovely faces! You will now notice a number of additions to our team members – Meet the team

ETN is, as always, an incredible community, each step in our progress is one that you take with us, your feedback and support help us to grow, have a fantastic weekend, we’ll catch up with you again next week for more updates.

Mobile Miner tech update
Last night we had a drop in the ability to mine on the Mobile Miner due to an intermittent network latency affecting some of our servers.
The issue was resolved quickly and the Mobile Miner is now working as it should. We would like to thank the community for your incredible patience and support, as always you are what helps this project grow.

The biggest determining factor currently with ETN's price are the ASIC miners, which have increased network hash rates to over 1.3 GH/s, compared to late Feb/early March when it was around 200MH/s.

I expect it to drop dramatically, at least by 90% if not more, and with this we should see a sudden surge in price of ETN as millions of ETN will not be getting dumped every day.

Title: Re: Electroneum (ETN) Mobile Miner
Post by: sheenarif on May 07, 2018, 06:54:24 AM
Here’s how ETN gets to $5.

For those new to Electroneum, this one is often billed as the first British cryptocurrency, and it was set up with a relatively simple mission statement – to remove the barriers to entry for those looking to acquire and utilize cryptographic tokens.

Right now, cryptocoins are tough to get a hold of. The barriers to entry for most people are too large, with complex software, GPU mining rigs, the necessity to send personal identification data and credit card information to young and questionably reputable websites, all making things complex for the new user.

Electroneum intends to overcome this with its ETN coin.

The company has created a mobile device application that allows users to manage online funds by sending and receiving payments with by way of QR code scanning but also goes a step further, offering the user a cryptocurrency mining experience; and crucially, one that doesn’t necessitate the technical knowledge or specialist hardware that is required for Bitcoin or Ethereum mining.

The company conducted an ICO back in September, raising $40 million in a few weeks from more than 400,000 participants – one of the most successful ICOs to that point – and has since gone on to attract a large amount of community and sector-specific attention.

And it’s in this attention that we root our long-term bullish thesis for Electroneum.

The adoption of a coin like this is based on mainstream utility. It’s simple to use, it’s mobile-based and it requires very little technical know-how or costly hardware to get up and running. Transactions are instant and essentially free and, at the same time, the company’s offline wallet is incredibly secure.

Each of these points answers a question that’s being asked of even the most well-established coins on the market right now – this really is cryptocurrency for the masses.

And the best thing about Electroneum? The company knows its positioning.

Electroneum has the target of becoming the biggest cryptocurrency by user count in the world during 2018 and while this may seem like a lofty challenge, it’s far from an unrealistic one. There are 2.2 billion mobile device users globally. All of these have instant and easy access to the Electroneum platform. The company has already signed agreements with major telecoms providers and expects to announce more such agreements this quarter.

The key thing to recognize here is that this is perhaps the only cryptocurrency in the world with a direct access route to hundreds of millions of users (via their smartphones), all of which can acquire, mine and store ETN without any specialist knowledge or equipment. If the goal of cryptocurrencies is to make transactions simple, cheap and quick, ETN has hit that goal.

So what about near-term catalysts to get this one running?

Right now, ETN has a market cap of $674 million and is doing tens of millions of dollars in volume daily – on one exchange.

It’s set to launch on HitBTC over the coming couple of weeks, which should instantly increase liquidity and double (if not more) volume.

One to watch.

Nevermind I just saw the info page. It clearly states that it doesn't actually mine but they benchmark our device assign the hash rate that it would be able to achieve if it was actually mining. The ETNs are allocated accordingly.

Yeah sure it will enable millions to get their hands on a USELESS cryptocurrency, with relative ease.

Electroneum has failed too many times to be actually taken seriously. They should have taken care of their ICO investors instead of launching a failed token and denying ICO investors from selling. Electroneum has wasted the $40 million dollar ICO funding they got and is blacklisted forever.

The fact that they are coming to market with a finished coin would be the first thing I noticed. Its a good sign. Let me ask you this. How many people will have that idea? I agree - a bunch! So you can see how many people that would be and the kind of community that would form around it? Right? Wouldnt you wish you could go back and buy that coin before that all happeded? That type of use would bring immese vaule to the coin. And if course in this case you dont have to go back in time. If they can do what they claim its a winner. All it comes down to is if they are telling the truth. After checking up on the team. I believe they have what they say.

If you have any problem with the coin than you can write it in the main thread instead of writing it here. Success comes to those who tries and they are actually working hard for every aspect of their project now. The ETN coin is using the CryptoNote mining algorithm, and it had some glitches with deposits and withdrawals due to the anonymous nature of the coin. Now, there are hopes that ETN may be traded on Binance or another large exchange, but no immediate news.

It is not your office problem mate, it is against ETN rules, you can not use more than one app per IP according to ETN whitepaper, if found using than your all 4 ids will be blocked without any intimation. So be careful.

ETN the price of its coins is too small, the cost to mine etn is much greater than its profit.
if I choose, I'd better mine bytecoin. the price is now up and easy on the mine. ETN In the mobile version is strongly discouraged, because it makes hot hp and quickly drop its batteries

Mobile miner got really slower, but good is, that miner after update doesn´t crash few times a day, so it keeps finally mining constantly.

Imo, ETN doesn't worth it. It drain out my phone life so quickly.

ETN do not drain life phone, because it's a simulation of Mining with real coin gain.

It's doesn't use your cpu/gpu, and the battery life is about the same (maybe draining 5% more? need to test it)

hmm guys

I finally receveid the message that all those 200 ETNs would be processed and sent to my wallet last week, but they still didn't show. I have even received another batch with about 27 etns and they do show in my wallet, but those 200 do not.

Anyone with this problem?

I also have the need to relaunch the app now and then like others here btw

Electroneum Network Upgrade

As you may be aware our v2.0 network upgrade is planned for 30th May 2018 (block height 307,500). The estimated time of upgrade will be 09:30 UTC. To enable you to continue trading / mining Electroneum it is critical that you update your Electroneum nodes and wallet software in advance of the planned network upgrade. The latest date you should update by is 29th May, however we suggest that you SWITCH NOW as a matter of urgency. All transactions created with the latest RPC and CLI wallets will be accepted after the upgrade block, however if you have any transactions in the mempool that were generated with old versions of the CLI or RPC they will fail and be returned to sender.

Upgrade Overview

This major release is aimed at increasing transaction speed and minimising transaction size, in preparation for mass adoption and an exponential increase in global transactional volume.

Anti- ASIC

Implementation of ASIC resistance.

Transfer Fee Increase

We have increased our base fee from 0.01 ETN to 0.1 ETN.

Reduced Privacy

Disabling RingCT & Mixin privacy features means we can fit significantly more transactions into each block than with them enabled.

Mempool life to 3 days

During times of high transactional volumes you will now have 3 days for the transaction to complete rather than the current 24 hours period.

2 minute blocks

We are moving from one to two minute blocks which will significantly decrease the chance of an orphan block being created.

Block Reward

We are doubling the block reward to ensure that the daily ETN block reward is unaffected.

Reduce difficulty window

We are reducing the difficulty window to check every 360 blocks to adjust the difficulty every 12 hours (in line with current adjustment period).

What happens if I don’t update my nodes?

Failure to update your nodes in advance of the upgrade on May 30th will result in the following:

You will no longer be able to trade Electroneum

You would still be getting valid looking transaction hashes but they would be FALSE

You will have to resynchronise your blockchain data after implementing the correct daemon

Any deposits made on / after the network upgrade will not be visible to you

Any withdrawals on / after the network upgrade will not be visible to the end customer

Ultimately this will result in a huge amount of additional administration to resolve the above deposit and withdrawal failures

Ways to update your nodes

Method One – Compile from source code

Using our GitHub page (link below). Once compiled override the old binaries with the new ones.

https://github.com/electroneum/electroneum/tree/v2.0.0.0

Method Two – Download binaries

From our GitHub release page (link below). Once downloaded you need to check the ‘checksum’ on the zip files to confirm that they are the official versions. Unzip the new binaries over the old ones.

https://github.com/electroneum/electroneum/releases/tag/v2.0.0.0

Checking you’re up to date

Once completed restart and check that you are running the correct version of the daemon and wallet software using this command:

Linux / Mac
./electroneumd –version
./electroneum-wallet-cli –version
./electroneum-wallet-rpc –version –rpc-bind-port 12345

Windows
electroneumd.exe –version
electroneum-wallet-cli.exe –version
electroneum-wallet-rpc.exe –version –rpc-bind-port 12345

These commands should output the following:

Electroneum ‘May 2018’ (v2.0.0.0-31f729a)

Thank you for your continued support for the Electroneum project.

WIN A CHANCE TO SEE RICHARD SPEAKING AT BCI SUMMIT IN NEW YORK!

The Electroneum CEO Richard Ells will be speaking at the Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Investment summit in New York! Following the huge success of the last four BCI events, they are offering you the chance to win a VIP, all-expense paid trip to the BCI summit in New York; the big apple of business. For your chance to win a VIP trip to New York to see Richard’s presentation on the future of cryptocurrencies, you need to do just two things; please head over to the BCI twitter page; https://twitter.com/BciSummit, give BCI a follow, then fill out their competition form here; https://bcisummit.com/offers/VIP-trip-giveaway.html

Richard is making a presentation and is part of a panel discussion, (see here; https://bcisummit.com/speakers.html) but with your support BCI have agreed to make some high level introductions for Electroneum if we can get OUR community to rally round and increase the BCI Summit’s Twitter follower number.

The deadline is 29th May and your vote contributes to our exposure at this event, so we would be very grateful if you could hurry over and hit “follow” to maximise ETN’s exposure at the BCI Summit.

User Numbers!

Just a quick update to point out that as of today we have over 1.43m users through viral marketing alone! We have the instant payment system being filmed by a documentary crew on the 8th June and we are hoping to have that fully live by the end of Q3 this year, allowing vendors around the world to start accepting instant crypto payments via their ecommerce systems, epos (tills) and via the Electroneum app. Once that happens, we will start marketing and using our partners to grow our numbers to REALLY substantial numbers!

Yesterday (over 24 hours) we saw over 200,000 unique mobile miners, remember that the active miners number on the app is showing how many are active RIGHT NOW. A lot of people drop in and out through the day. Again, this is before we’ve really given the users anywhere to SPEND their ETN, and before our partners have started promoting us to large volumes of new users.

Support Desk Update

ETN is pleased to announce our new Support desk system! Support has always been central to our community- your feedback not only assists in our growth and development but also brings us closer to you. As you will know, most other Cryptocurrencies do not facilitate a support desk and this has meant we are extremely busy, however, our connection with our users drives the direction of ETN therefore it seemed natural to migrate to a more advanced and more interactive form of support desk. Our partnership with Jira will see us into a new level of support communication, we hope you enjoy the experience and benefit more from this progressive platform. Please do not forget to follow the correct link to receive help and assistance for all your ETN needs; https://support.electroneum.com

Remember the critical update regarding the Electroneum Network Upgrade

There is a CRITICAL network upgrade planned for 30th May 2018 (block height 307,500). The estimated time of upgrade will be 09:30 UTC.

If you are a regular App user or my.electroneum.com user, you do not need to do anything. However, if you mine via a Pool please ensure that pool is aware that they MUST update their wallet and node software before May 29th.

The latest software is available from GitHub

Please share this information as much as possible to ensure a smooth transition that will bring about numerous positive changes within the community! The full information on how to update your nodes are clearly outlined here on the blog: https://electroneum.com/2018/05/17/critical-electroneum-network-upgrade/

Thank you for your involvement this week, do remember to share our news regarding the Network upgrade and have a fantastic week!

The Electroneum Team.

ETN network as a whole has been having alot of issues lately. No real answer on why all these issues are comming now, but it suggests bad coding during the stress of the ICO. Maybe they took shortcuts to make launch schedual?
Anyway, i hope they fix their shit. I was involved in their ICO and it seemed very good and greatly managed. As of later it has declined.

Yes, it really came down.

As the new users are joining/using the miner app, the rewards are getting lower. I started when there were around 95k users and now there are more than 145k users. I am wondering how high the user count go and at what stage even running the simulation of mining won't get you much ETN/day. If someone has those figures it will be helpful.

Yes it happened due to heavy load on the transaction sysytem. But all ETN are started coming in wallets after that. If you have not received till now than not to worry about anything as you will receive all your mined ETN in your wallet soon. Keep refreshing your wallet. ETN will be there soon.

Hi!

We've just issued an ETN node patch for pool owners.

If you are running a mining pool then you need to apply this patch to our main source code using Git and recompile.

https://github.com/electroneum/electroneum/commit/448c4536796cc57c4a1d60e23a278ceca3dc7523.patch

If you are a GPU miner - then please ensure your pool admins are aware they must recompile and include the patch.

Once the patch file has been reviewed by the open source community we will commit it to our main repository and it will become part of the standard node code.

Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated.

Patch Details:

There's no point on doing that in the first place.
Everyone can mine Electroneum using Powerful PCs, from Standard Desktop to Super Computers as long as the OS supports the new miner or the full node.

If you're thinking of powerful CPUs overshadowing the mobile miners, it's kinda happened roughtly a week ago.
Cryptonight ASICs was released to the public and ETN's total hashrate had rose to a phenomenal level in which made the regular PC and Mobile miners obsolete.
But that's resolved for now after the (too late) change in POW Algorithm.

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about how this coin works. The mobile app does not literally mine the coin, it is a simulated mining at about the rate of 30-50 h/s designed to promote the coin. Think of it more as a small reward for just getting involved. The real mining takes place on GPU rigs and the reason for this is because taxing a phones CPU would cause quickly drain the battery and slow the phone to a crawl. If you already have a mobile device go ahead and let it "mine" in the background for a few free coins! It isn't a lot however, I would estimate at this current time it yields less than $0.05/day or less for mobile "mining"

There's no actual mining involved in the whole process; they actually have a good percentage of "pre-mine" to pay out for that so-called "mobile mining" withdrawals. This is discussed in detail in Electroneum's whitepaper.

Etn mining is not entirely bad but since the coin don't have good value yet all I make in a month is around 3$ and used that most times to buy data, and I won't call that really mining but a cloud mining

Phone 'Mining' - ETN (Beginners How-To Guide) - https://www.publish0x.com/hobbyist-mining/phone-mining-etn-beginners-how-to-guide-xqlvkg

It's a nice article, I see that ETN "mining" on mobile changed. In the past we have the hashrate and could calculate how much we'll gain in a month, but not today, it´s way different
But anyway, it´s so easy that I installed the app again and see I have some forgotten coins  ;D
I used to mine ETN for real with my Ryzens, but XMR was more profitable and I changed. Good lucky to this coin

I don't think mining a coin on mobile is worth or not, what is the cost of a mobile phone as compared to mid-range GPU? Everyone has his own choices but I'm not really convinced about the mobile mining concept.

I don't think mining a coin on mobile is worth or not, what is the cost of a mobile phone as compared to mid-range GPU? Everyone has his own choices but I'm not really convinced about the mobile mining concept.

I don't think you get the idea behind this "mining"
It's just a simulation of mining, you'll not use the resources of your smartphone, you'll gain a little amount of coins, just installing the app and enter some days. It's just part of the marketing for the company / coin, to achieve more users
