Title: Should BTT start to use kyc for fighting against multi-accounts shit posts?
Post by: ascakan on April 24, 2018, 11:29:28 AM
While i am using this forum to learn something i have to read thousands of posts to understanding a meta.

and this is because of the signature campains or levelling their rank people writing posts for only cuz they have to ...

And this makes it impossible to reach to knowledge or wasting lots of time. I know you have to send some donation to open new account but people get much more than the donation so they can shitting lots of irrevelent posts. How can we get rid of them ? Can we block the user posts for filtering? Need sms activating for every acc? Using KYC system?

I feel furistrating now the unquality posts mountains on every topic... What all do you thing about these kind of newbies and multi accounts ?

( i am sorry for my bad english i am not a native speaker as you can understand :D )

The most stupid ideas that could be ever suggested...one of the rights and goals of BTT community, is the right for anonymity or privacy and we should respect the privacy of other users.

I'll get right on that, just as soon as hell freezes over.

Obvious that OP did not have time to look for this as the topic already were discussed.

The idea here is to keep us anonymous, that is why theymos even disabled the email verification feature when we register and you are saying KYC verification (?) Looks like you had a long nap and just woke up  :)

And the forum has rule that you can create alt account but you have to Neutral trust it with you main account so that the community knows that it's your alt. Even theymos has an alt which is theymos_away (if i am not wrong).

I suggest you to spend some of your time reading the top six sticky on the Meta board although I can see you are Sr. Member  :o

KYC would solve problems such as account farming. But as you may see from posts above - it wont be implemented, people on bitcointalk have right to stay anonymous.

Maybe he is talking about evil IP - if you want to open account from IP which was previously banned, then you need to pay a small fee.

I know the fees about a ban IP but the statement he made, gave me a 2nd thought that by any chance is this his real account?
You can not avoid the possibility of buying this account from someone else. My be this current user is a new user on the forum. Otherwise how come someone with Sr. Member rank never noticed that it should be for IP ban not for creating a new account (!)

You and/or your alt(s) and/or your neighbours and/or their alt-accounts were banned before?
Your "friends" have to pay a 1 time fee (your range ip was banned before mostly), so don't worry about that.
And since the hell will not freezes soon and your answer was answered, lock that topic (bottom of the page, left corner, lock topic).

I thought that this will be some kind of joke but after reading I see that OP mean it seriously. I don't know if OP knows who created this forum and what anonimity means for members of Bitcointalk.

This is just not possible.

If you searched Meta you would see this gets suggested every once in a while but theymos is never going to do it. The only reasonable way I can see how we could combat multi accounts is to remove signatures whether that be permanently or charge people a substantial fee to be able to have one. If the only way you could get one was to pay $500 or so it would eliminate farming all together and severely limit the amount of accounts someone could have to the amount they can afford. As long as you can farm accounts for free just by putting effort into shitposting over time then people will continue to flock here in their thousands to do so.

The moment that happens, forum will lose massive amount of traffic that comes in which primarily lures the advertisers to advertise here.Yes the idea will certainly keep the shit posters and account farmers away thereby enforcing high quality posts but it will result in humongous traffic loss.I'm afraid such opportunity will be taken by other developers to start a new forum which will turn out to be a new breeding place for the shit-posters and advertisers.

So? Who cares about the thousands of shitposters making the same old bitcoin is good because it is profit and helps me with my daily needs posts day after day and if they go somewhere else then good. Let's see how they deal with it. The forum functioned before signature campaigns and it will function after them, but this forum is no longer a place to talk about bitcoin but seemingly only here to enrich shitposters posting the same crap every day. I doubt it would be as severe as you propose either. Did people leave en mass when the activity or merit systems were introduced? They complain about it for a bit, then deal with it. Instead of complaining about this they'll just have to scrape the money together to buy themselves a signature to continue to earn. Most of the spammers will probably have enough money they've earned to be able to buy one anyway, but at least it'll stop all the other new users that find out about bitcoin through their friend/brother/cousin/workmate who now seemingly can't even be bothered telling them the basics:

My friend invite me on bitcoin . Then he ask me. You can earn more money using this site . ( Bitcointalk.org ) and ask him .. How to earn money ? And he says . Explore the forum and you can find it .. My friend are crazy he invites me but he didnt teach me ? Hahahaha .

Can you please give me a clue ?

Naturally, it was posted in the wrong section and then he was banned shortly after for copy and pasting (which the majority of them are doing because they can't speak English or can be bothered writing anything of substance themselves).

I totally agree with you because cryptocurrency was introduced and got more success due to anonymity and BTT forum also got so much popularity due to anonymity. If KYC get introduced then i think very soon this forum will die. Why even KYC can also be forged then what will you do with it. So their should be some different option to control the spam which wont affect the main object of the cryptocurrency.
