Title: How did you hear about Bitcoin (From Ponzi to Cryptocurrency)
Post by: CryptopreneurBrainboss on April 26, 2018, 06:08:51 AM
How I heard about bitcoin started early 2015 when I was searching for means in which I will use to earn some money to help support my schooling because I'm an undergraduate. So I was introdue into an online business by a friend called MMM (As of then I never knew it was ponzi) the way it was presented (mouth watery bonuses) made me to engage in it fully and started marketing it. I became successful at it made some cool cash too.

When it became famous in my country I decided to explore all its benefits then I saw an advert of BItcoin I picked interest because it was offering 50% ROI monthly while my local currency was 30%ROI. So then my journey began in the Cryptocurrency world.  I became fully a Cryptopreneur January 2016 after my wanna be cryptocoin called TBC (thebillioncoin) failed me. I have made some few mistakes afterwards but I can proudly say, me picking interest in Bitcoin (cryptocurrency) from a Ponzi biz,  is one of the most smartest move I have ever made in my life.

How did you hear about bitcoin?

How did you hear about bitcoin? I Wanna hear your experience

Hello! In the past, I was the victim of  scammers, so I was looking for a way to understand how trading actually works. I discovered a group of traders a year ago and tried to see what it is all about. With banning binary options in Europe, the step to the crypto world has been awaited. Now, as a crypto enthusiastic, I patiently wait to see how this market work and how the altcoins will evolve. An important role in this is also the contribution of specialized service providers (https://cryptoorders.com/articles/betex-versus-standard-binary-options-brokers/). Scammers have already made their appearance and are looking for vulnerabilities. I wish u the best of luck along with the others in this new journey!

The first time I started using bitcoin  and buying bitcoin was to use it for multi level marketing platform Zarfund  but since I am not good in multi level marketing I lost all the bitcoin in invested. The next one I try was HYIP Platform and one of them was called worldminer. I also lost everything.

I heard about Bitcoin when I was figuring out another way to transfer money to a sports book since Visa and bank wire were not options. This was back in 2015. Too bad I didn't leave that money in Bitcoin. At that time, I was not too interested in what it was.

I became interested in the middle of 2017. I believe it was during a financial conversation on a YouTube comment. Someone was saying something about biotechs and crypto currency. I looked up crypto currency and saw bitcoin at the top of coinmarketcap. My interest was perked and I started researching and thus began my bitcoin journey.

I've heard MMM before and its a large ponzi scheme like bitconnect but i think they don't use any altcoins by that time. I've heard bitcoin in 2012 as another payment, at first i think it was another future payment like paypal or something and because it was created by someone annonymous then at that time i think it can be manipulated by the creator so i never really took interest at it. In middle 2016 i started hearing about bitcoin again reaching $400-500 when i think it was only a few dollars worth for a coin and early last year i started to took more attention towards it as it become a high risk investment but also gave me high return.  ;D ;D

When it became famous in my country I decided to explore all its benefits then I saw an advert of BItcoin I picked interest because it was offering 50% ROI monthly while my local currency was 30%ROI.
I never heard or see ads about bitcoin offering 50% ROI since its not ponzi but rather than investment like a paper pennystocks at that time so its possible that someone trying to do scam with bitcoin while the price started to hike. CMIIW  ::) ::)

It is very unfortunate that 5 out of 10 people heard about Bitcoin through a Ponzi scheme/media stories. This highlights the need for the huge level of mass awareness regarding what Bitcoin is all about. I remember, I was doing a research regarding my domain name reselling business back in 2013 and I came across something called crypto/Bitcoin and I did some research and convinced with the idea of the decentralized digital payment system. I bought some domains and sold too and it was a very amazing experience. Since then, I am involved with Bitcoin and learning something new each day.

I was just nodding along like "OMG people actually jump in without any research?". What are you going to do, I feel like those people deserve to lose at that point. You gotta use your resources.

I never heard bitcoin as a ponzi scheme or what so scam it is. I made a research about this in Google. Actually, I don't have the money to start and to but bitcoin. Then my brother introduced me this forum where I can learn more about bitcoin.

I also like you, I heard the first bitcoin from the global MMM ponzy program, but at that time I was not interested because MMM in my country had scam and I thought that it was just a clone, and I started being introduced with friends through bitcoin trading and I much make a profit there.

Actually bitcoin was introduced to me in 2016 by my friend when I was working in Dubai. He said that we could send money to our home country even without any banks or exchanges at very low fee. That was the reason for which I started using bitcoin first.

First heard about it when it was around $10. Thought “it would be funny to buy $100 worth and see what happens” finished my beer and didn’t think about it again until it was around $700. Bought some to donate to a private tracker, bought more to hold. Still holding on for dear life :)

Unfortunately, before i know bitcoin i knew those word, MLM, MMM, PTC and other various way how to earn real money from internet. And also become the reseller and  dropshipper from online shop.

But the beginning is, when my friend introduce me about earn money from mining, dice and faucet website. And after learn from website and this forum, i realize bitcoin is exactly different from ponzi scheme product. this thing is stand alone with blockchain system which is a new term to me.

But with me personally, I was really interested in cryptography and steganography, and one thing led to another until I eventually stumbled upon Bitcoin. This was late 2009/early 2010. I saw genuine potential in the IDEA, but I saw Bitcoin as more of a proof of concept at the time than anything. Late 2010, I become a bit more of a believer and started mining and wanted to invest, but got cold feet and pulled out at the last second [I kept mining for a few months, though, into a wallet I no longer have access to :| ]

I followed Bitcoin over the years, buying small and making TINY profits just for the hell of it, and happened to hop on the rocket just before reaching the moon a couple of months back.

Some of my biggest regrets in life are how I handled my Bitcoins early on -_-

I first heared about Bitcoin as a "money making method" alternative to PTC sites, a more profitable and easier way to earn money on the internet, especially for third world people who have difficult to find profitable online tasks to execute and earn money. The scams/Ponzies I just knew later, when the investment options for my Bitcoins started appearing.

Anyway, although being very dangerous and not advisable to invest, Ponzi schemes were one of the main ways people discovered Bitcoin.

Yeah and mostly was for the promotion of Ponzi or matrix scheme. I bet yeah most people heard about Cryptocurrency (BItcoin)  just as I did (ponzi). The problems now is how do we reduced this?   I know we can't terminate it, so what is the Crypto-cummunity doing towards creating awareness. Hopping to get a reply because this is a very serious issues

Haven once been a victim to scammers, I resorted to getting enough understanding of how online businesses actually works before again engaging in such. I one day overheard a group of friends talking about crypto currency. I drew closer to ask for explanation and that was when I was made aware and introduced to bitcoin. This means unless you get determined and inquisitive, you may lose great opportunities.

I heard the word bitcoin in 2013 but I ignored it because I am busy at that time. When I graduated in the tertiary level year 2017, I am finding some ways to earn online and I saw this word again "bitcoin" and I became very curious about it. Luckily, there are some of my friends who help me know what bitcoin and whole cryptocurrency is all about. Until now, I am reading here in the forum about bitcoin and absorbing every knowledge that I need to know :)/

I have heard about bitcoin since 2009. I also remembered MMM and luckily I did not lose any amount of btc that time since after a month I withdraw my btc and convert it to cash. Some of my profit in MMM was invested in perfecthash.com but eventually that site was a scam. So after I was scammed I started collecting faucets and then I keep on researching on how to increase my earned btc. I eventually ended doing up some affiliate marketing to newly created investment and gambling sites. Then I was hired by a certain website due to my effort and then I found out about signature campaigns. Then later on I was doing some trading and even become and ICO consultant and a social media promoters for newly developed coins.

I wish I had also heard about bitcoins earlier. I came to know about bitcoins quite late. If I remember correctly, I heard about it on a IM forum and then I landed on bitcointalk. Now I get paid in bitcoins and other crypto for some of my freelance work and I am content with my performance so far.

It is really amazing to see the journey of members here who are active on this forum from 2012 or earlier.

Last week, I also find out some news for this topic. According to Bank of America, the greatest bubble in history is exploding. The stock market is falling in line with the slump in the world's biggest asset bubble - bitcoin, after less than a year since its peak. Do you think this information is accurate?

I did not care about the outcome of this. Bitcoin may be the biggest bubble of all time, but one thing that can not be denied is the technology behind it. A whole new infrastructure industry will be built - in which the internet will change the way the world works.  ;)

I love "bubbles". "Bubbles" give people the railway. The "bubble" that opened up the shipbuilding industry in the 18th century. The "bubble" brings the internet to everyone. The "bubble" is now a strong currency. "Bubbles" are not a bad thing at all. I only care about whether the world is better or not.

I started it when I was looking for extra money for daily life with my wife. and I asked my friend, then suggested to collect the bitcoin. but I was confused to start, because my friend forbids to join in the world of PONZI. until I was given some sites that I remember. it is a freebitco.in and game on smartphone, Flappybird. and until now my capital has grown into a big trading Bitcoin. :)

I've come to know bitcoin through a meme featuring Dorian Nakamoto, though back then I don't really know what it is or what does it do so I decided to dive deeper. After doing some researches here and there, I found out that bitcoin has some value which is sitting @ $400 a piece. Later on, I stumbled upon this site, created an account hoping to enlighten me on this new fad--heck, the whitelist even asked me for 0.00004751 BTC back then lol.  The rest is history.. I started with faucets and reading until I bought my first coins and have been buying since then.

I first read about it about 2 years ago in a tech blog that I subscribed to.
Didn't think much of it, since the blog discussed the negative use cases for BTC, such as the dark web.
When I became more understanding of its technology is when I decided to get involved, maybe a few months later.

I first heard Bitcoin from my boyfriend. As students we were struggling about our daily needs and expenses and how our hectic school schedule is a hindrance for us having a part time job. But, when my boyfriend discovered Bitcoin he never stopped convincing me to try it because it would be really beneficial for us. At first, I must admit that I've refused to do so but a year ago I started dedicating myself to Bitcoin. And it was worth the try.

Through my experiences in dealing with bitcoin today, I've had few experiences with scammers. Scammers who have built a good image and strong reputation yet little did i know it was just for a show so a lot of people would be interested resulting more numbers of victims.

I've known bitcoin since it cost 5 million. But do not expect coins to be phenomenal as it is today. After I have learned and read, read on, and start with the crypto world (especially Bitcoin). And start learning how to find bitcoin. From Faucet (tap) coins, mining with computers and cloud mining, all I'm looking for. And this year I have tried to learn tranding.

And unnoticed, the world of cryptocurrency provides a little extra, though not billions, but I think it's okay. Starting installment motor is paid, can buy new HP, Netbook, can pay electricity, pulse, quota every month, and can add-add money pocket every day

The first time I heard about bitcoin and crypto to my high school friend. He tell me and discuss to me what is bitcoin and how it works but unfortunately in the beginning I doubt it because that was the first time I heard that and i cant believe that there are such that system that can gives or offered a lot of opportunities us in a way that we can earn a huge of profit in just a short period of time but eventually I realized that I need to try it  so I do have a chance to have a better life and that was happened.

I could hear Bitcoin from a respected elder brother. He told me everything about Bitcoin and said. He talked about Bitcoin and about how it will be governed in the future market and about its benefits and benefits. Now I can earn from an inexpensive Bitcoin.

So then.my journey began in the Cryptocurrency world.

I Wanna hear your experience
I heard about it in 2014 by a friend neither of us invested into it but in 2015 he started Investing into btc. By the start of 2016 be convinced how profitable btc can be If one trys to earn through trading and the volatility in mid 2017 made me believe that btc is a very promising asset.

i know the MMM too, it is Mavro right ? He even held ICO here : https://mavro.org/
The ponzi scheme is always same, earlier supporter will have a profit much.
but bitcoin is not a ponzi because any time you join in bitcoin, you will have a same chance to gain earnings.

It all started with a signature campaigns on a different forum, it was a compulsion to take btc as payment, honestly had never heard of btc till then, decided to give it out a try. Once the btc started hitting my wallet suddenly the price zoomed and that caught my attention, while learning more I came here and understood what it actually was, it's much deeper than I imagined.

Luckily you've heard it earlier, unlike me even if i've heard it early, i am still not convinced about its capability and its potential, until one day i am really curious enough to try and risk. The first thing i've learn was about forex trading, and then again i saw an ad about crypto trading, that is the only time i started learning how to trade crypto and study further about how does it work, until i encounter this forum that says here we discussed all details regarding crypto.

This caused me to lose some ETH. Then I slowly went to understand the project data.

Well frankly speaking Bitcoin was never a ponzi scheme to start with. Ponzi schemes don't have a working product with real world use cases, they just have pyramid schemes. Bitcoin is only called ponzi by those who didn't get in early into Bitcoin and missed the crazy returns it gave to everyone.

A colleague of mine had introduced me about bitcoin and I decided to give it a try. I started researching about bitcoin in the last quarter of 2017 and gradually learning from it. As months go by, I had absorbed some of my knowledge from the internet and other informative information from my friends at work where they guided me on how to join the signature bounty campaigns. Actually, I had just finished my first ever bounty campaign which I think is successful and now currently waiting for the hard earned token. Always bear in mind that "a quitter never win and a winner never quit", so let's continue to believe in bitcoin as this is the future currency that could surely change everyone's lives.

How did you hear about bitcoin? I Wanna hear your experience

I first heard of Bitcoin in 2016, when I participated in a Ponzi scheme called MMM' ( infamously founded by late Sergei Mavrodi), after it failed I enter into another ponzi called BBN(Boonbuy Network) that claimed to be trading on Bitcoin and binary option, I invested my sister's money in it, when it collapsed, I knew family war was coming because I needed to account for the lost fund. This led me to studying about Bitcoin only, without a mentor, I was about to make fortunes and later will pay back my debt before BTC price crashed from $20,000.

It would have been better I had mentor but the ones I met needed cash before any talk, so had to learn the hard way, currently i teach people about bitcoin without charging a dime from them, just enjoy sharing the knowledge based on my level of experience.

I heard about the bitcoin initially from a colleague and we invested in about 2 hyip sites then; we didn't break even at all. I later got into the digital marketing of the cryptocurrencies through a very close friend. It was a real burning desire in him to let me know about it. I am glad I joined in and wish I had joined in earlier. All the same, good to have the knowledge.

Telling me there are strict rules that i need to follow in the forum so i gave up until when i got to the university and a good friend of mine TNBTC introduced me into bounty hunting business. Initially it was time consuming until my reward for my first bounty campaign came and i had about $50 USD. I was so happy and ever since then i have been into crypto and investing in bitcoins. I am glad i joined tho.

I first encounter it on deepweb using it as a payment for anonymity. So I find a way to earn it. First I knew that it could be mined by the use of GPUs but the electricity cost in my county is expensive. So other way is on gambling site but I lately notice the it could be bought by the use of exchanges. So I put my savings on bitcoin and put in on the gambling site. I earned more than I loss so I think I was lucky that my savings didn't go to vain. So the next time I just do some trading on exchanges. Less risk but greater and sure gains.

But when the time that I got a job in money remittace I was noticed that many of our clients are investing and collecting their salary thru our company. And one day my former classmate was also collecting his salary. I did not expect that he can have that money because I know him all he know to do is to live his life to the fullest. An old random post on a forum that I was checking out in early 2011. I mined a bit on my laptop (had a gpu) on slushes pool and forgot about it. Got back into it about 6 months later.

exactly the same for me :) I read a post on a forum
and then mined some on a GPU and forgot about it, only to get back in a year or so
there was also a  standalone programme that mined bitcoins and offered ingame online money in return for some forgotten now game
so then I read more about it and finally found bitcointalk-the best source of information about bitcoins for me then and now
there was gpu mining of a coin per day, getting scammed by 50btc pool in between and many more interesting and not so interesting things

It is interesting that you found about bitcoin through scammers and instead of letting that experience marking you and your opinions about bitcoin, you decided to let that aside and concentrate on the good part which was bitcoin, let me tell you that is not easy and you have done great since there are many people that lost money because of their own decisions and instead of accepting them they decided to blame bitcoin for their mistakes and they missed all the profits they could have made if they decided to let those feelings behind them.

Anyone know if MMM is still running after the death of Sergei Mavrodi? I think this is the biggest Ponzi scheme linked to Bitcoin and the one that has done the most damage.  ::) I am glad to hear that something positive has also come from this Ponzi scheme, but the sad part will always be that there are only a small percentage of people who makes some profit from these schemes.  >:(

I am one of the lucky people who were fortunate enough, not to be exposed to these Ponzi schemes as a introduction to Bitcoin.  :P

I first heard bitcoin from my brother. he invited to participate in investing in bitcoin at that time the price of bitcoin was still $ 100. but I refused because at that time I was just fooled by the ponzi scheme My MMM suffered a big loss. My work money was $ 3,000 lost because of MMM. since then I'm not interested in investing on the internet. but at the end of 2017 I was surprised when my brother was able to buy a new car from the results of a bitcoin investment. and then I was interested in learning and after I learned I understood that bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme. Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that can be used as an investment tool. then I invested in cryptocurrency.

How did you hear about bitcoin?

It is also 2015 when I heard about bitcoin then I just ignore this thing. All I knew that time is we can earn real money through bitcoin but I don't know how. I heard it from a friend of mine who is very addicted to crypto that time. I am unaware why but time passes by I discovered that she is already earning big because of crypto.

I later got into the digital marketing of the cryptocurrencies through a very close friend. It was a real burning desire in him to let me know about it. I am glad I joined in and wish I had joined in earlier. All the same, good to have the knowledge.

I made some cool cash from it, bought some properties from it but I must also tell you that I also did loose heavily on it. I loose some of my local currency on it and as well about 0.2BTC as well it was offering ROI of 40% monthly on every BTC pledged.  After the loosing, I heard about Bitcoin (ICO) which I appreciated I didn't hesitated to take that bold step.

I first heard about Bitcoin in a news release in 2016, where there was a report on the elimination of a coin-mining farm. I wanted to know in more detail what bitcoin is and I applied for information on the Internet, and later I met people who were involved in investing in cryptocurrency.

I heard about Bitcoin several years ago, when it was cheap. It seems to me, I met some article about BTC and read it. Actually, I did not pay attention to it. Later, my buddy who earned on BTC gave me a good example.

at least HYIPs are good for something, it turns out- somepeople discover bitcoins and cryptocurrencies through them
good thing you didn't get frustrated and disappointed and read more about bitcoins and returned
stronger, more informed and , hopefully, smarter to not to participate in ponzi programmes anymore
think the only time I entered a ponzi was when there was this cloud mining baby boom
just test deposited 10$ worth of coins and the thing closed in a 2 weeks time - so it was a very cheap antidote for me

You are right if you receive information about bitcoin which turns out to be a scam, because I observe a lot of inappropriate information about bitcoin. Where bitcoin is likened to a ponzi scheme. This might be the impact of the activities of the few people who turned out to use the ponzi scheme for member fraud. An example is the case that ensnared GG Miners CEO Josh Garza. Garza runs a ponzi scheme in his company by embezzling around USD9.8 million from his customers.

I got into the company of some pretty smart guys who mentioned bitcoin in their conversation. Of course, I asked them to tell me more about it. And one of them subsequently helped me to invest. And so began my bitcoin history, which has been going on for several years.

I saw an article about bitcoin in one of the financial magazines. I was interested in the topic of investing in cryptocurrency and I began to study this topic in social networks, the Internet, found this forum. All this subject quickly tightened me and thus, I am 3 years here.

A friend from the social media introduced me to a new kind of currency called bitcoin more than three years ago and later urged me to invest on it. My other friends in social media believe that te cryptocurrency is a scam so I made a research first and discovered that bitcoin is not only cryptocurrency that existing at that time and many people are already using it in their online transactions. Some people in the social media are already using the bitcoin in their so called online investments that include HYIP which are mostly scams.

I got familiar with the terms from TV and news. They kept reporting about the investment craze, the scams and issues arising from it.

But it seems that mainstream reporters are not experts in the field so they couldn't really give me any actual idea of what Bitcoin was, so I was a little confused but curious at the same time about it. So I simply went online, did my research, gave myself some education and eventually dived in.

In 2016 I got to know bitcoin when a friend introduced me to a ponzi scheme called mmmglobalbtc. As at then bitcoin was still 600$ per coin.  Since then,  I participated in some other ponzi schemes that gave me more understanding of bitcoin and I also did further research about it.  After then I got opened to other cryptocurrencies and have been enjoying the ride since then.

Plain truth of how bitcoin have managed to stand up and rise without the government people regulating it. I always ask myself if what would happen if it will be managed like the fiats, will it have those big pumps and dumps or will stay at certain range?

Anyways, I was introduced into bitcoin by my schoolmate. He ask me first if I am interested in earning money while I am studying. I said yes but when he told me what he was doing, I doubt myself I can do the same too especially the time management. I am really glad that he told me because it greatly helps me in my finances.

The first time I started using bitcoin  and buying bitcoin was to use it for multi level marketing platform Zarfund  but since I am not good in multi level marketing I lost all the bitcoin in invested. The next one I try was HYIP Platform and one of them was called worldminer. I also lost everything.
Really? Just like you, many people have been fooled using bitcoin. Some of us knew the cryptocurrency because of HYIP or ponzi scheme. However, some of us failed to deepen the understanding about bitcoin because we thought it will just ruin our future. I lost also but not my money in cryptocurrency but the time I spent towards bounty campaign. However, I am compensated well also by my payment.

First of all, those things that you've invested into was not bitcoin it's called cloud mining and everyone knows in this forum that cloud minings platforms are scams people misunderstood btc between this. That's why most idiots call btc ponzi or scam

I heard about bitcoin when bitcoin was booming and became a conversation and debate between financial observers and bitcoin traders. At that time in 2017, there were even observers who predicted that bitcoin bubbles. Other observers say that is the Ponzi scheme. Finally I believe that bitcoin is a digital currency and can be used in many countries.

This might sound funny but I started knowing more about bitcoin from a very popular ponzi scheme, so I was forced to use bitcoin for withdrawal and deposits so I got hooked after the ponzi scheme went scammed.

I also invested in MMM and at that time I did not understand that MMM was a ponzi scheme. at that time I invested as much as $ 1000 into MMM. and it turned out that after a few months MMM was banned in my country and I lost my money. after that I was not interested in investing because I thought all investments in the end were fraud. and in 2015 my brother invited me to invest in bitcoin he explained to me bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme but digital currency. at that time I refused because I did not believe I thought the bitcoin was the same as MMM. but in 2017 I was shocked when my brother managed to buy a new car as a result of bitcoin investment. and after that I was interested in studying bitcoin and started investing in the crypto market.

How did you hear about bitcoin?
We have the same community joined. This MMM was the reason why I am here in bitcoin business. A friend invited me because we this community although you only donated money you can earn more. I have earned from it and this allowed me to search for anything about bitcoin because I felt the interest to earn with this coins aside from earning money from MMM. Although MMM became scam or whatever we can called it I was never felt the regret that I had once joining it because this was the reason why I knew bitcoin and the amazing things from it.
