We are on Graviex already, and if you look two posts above yours, you'll see we are poised to be added to the new CryptalDash exchange when it launches next month. CryptalDash is a fascinating new exchange that include arbitrage APIs, meaning it ties in directly with other industry-leading exchanges like Poloniex, Bittrex, Binance etc. Hence, if 01coin is successful in our attempt to get listed on CryptalDash at this early stage of its development, it would almost be like getting listed on Poloniex, Bittrex and Binance all at once!

It's probably true that everyone expects good news whenever there is an official announcement like this. This was not our choice. We fought hard over the past two months to keep 01coin listed on btc-alpha. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in our efforts. Now that the announcement has been made publicly by btc-alpha, I want to say that 1) btc-alpha deliberately chose not to follow the right blockchain, 2) btc-alpha added 101,000 coins to their sidechain out of thin air, and 3) btc-alpha created the situation wherein they cannot cover the cost of their own customers' withdrawals. As a result of their negligence and malfeasance, the zocteam do not recommend using them for any other coin because they might add coins to their exchange that do not actually exist on the network and thus be unable to pay for withdrawals. Still, we take our share of the blame for failing to make this unfortunate situation work.

That partly explains why the zocteam, alongside several members of the community, have been making such a significant personal investment towards getting 01coin listed on the exciting new CryptalDash exchange. Rest assured, none of the 01coin community fund has been used for this, which you can confirm by doing !donations anywhere in this server. It has come out of our own pockets. It's not a done deal just yet, but things are looking pretty good right now...

The zocteam executive held our second conference call this past weekened. The purpose of this meeting was to review the development roadmap on Trello (https://trello.com/b/oTHwfsge/zero-one-coin-a-team), identify priorities and gaps, and set timeline goals for development milestones.

As you will see, we discussed an array of planning priorities, timelines and challenges such that we will soon release an official project roadmap through to the end of the year, bringing us from Phase 0 to Phase 1 of the project. Only two things have changed: the premine has been disabled, and the coin is now under the stewardship of a strong new team with a broad suite of skills and a clear vision for the project. There was no swap, so any coins you had before the community takeover occurred are still good now - you just have to update to the latest wallet.

01coin is a coin in the traditional sense, which means working viable product first, revenue generation later. It is not an ICO.

Thanks to an astute question posed by 01coin community member Chalk, the zocteam started looking into the coin emission rate over time. Turns out, the original dev team made an error in the 01coin code. The coin emission rate is scheduled to be reduced by 1/12 (8.33%) once every 262,800 blocks. That would be one year if 01coin had 120 second block spacing, but it doesn't; it has 150 second block spacing. So instead, that means the block reward reduction will occur once every 456 days instead of once every 365.25 days as originally intended. The block reward reduction target should have been 210,384 blocks in order to achieve the annual reduction.

Please join our Discord server and help the 01coin community decide: Should we honour the original intent of the code, which is to reduce the block reward once per year, or should we honour the original implementation of the code, which is to reduce the block reward once every 456 days? If we do the former, it will reduce the total supply to 66M over 228 years. If we stick with the latter, then total supply will remain at 82M over 278 years. Let us know what you think!

This is a critical bugfix release of the 01coin core, although it is not a mandatory release. It fixes a well-known deadlock issue that we inherited from that latest Dash code, which caused masternodes to hang intermittently. If I might take a moment to brag about our devs, even Dash themselves have not been able to resolve this issue yet - this is a completely custom solution exclusive to ZOC. Plus, there was a serious vulnerability discovered in the Bitcoin Core codebase recently that this release also resolves.

While this is not a mandatory release, we do encourage all full node operators (masternodes, mining pools, explorers, exchanges etc.) to update ASAP.

Masternode operators, please note that this release does not require you to restart your nodes unless they are already in a deadlocked state. If you simply stop the daemon, replace the old binaries with the new, and start the daemon again - your node should remain ENABLED without any further intervention required.

Things have been pretty busy around here lately with the new wallet release, the video tutorial, progress on the website and whitepaper, and the Crex24 + CryptalDash integrations that we kinda forgot to mention a new listing partnership with Cheddur! New 01coin wallet release: v0.12.3.4

We have released a new, mandatory wallet version for 01coin (ZOC): v0.12.3.4. This release includes a spork, which will be enforced as of block 159551 in about five days from now. After that, the spork will knock all old nodes off the network.

You can compile the release from master or download the source and binaries from here: https://github.com/zocteam/zeroonecoin/releases/tag/v0.12.3.4 (https://github.com/zocteam/zeroonecoin/releases/tag/v0.12.3.4). If you are hosting your 01coin masternode on https://01VPS.net (https://01VPS.net), the recipe will be updated later on tonight. Once updates, you simply have to click on the recipe again and your node will be automatically upgraded to the latest version. All https://01MN.net (https://01MN.net) nodes will also be automatically upgraded without users having to do anything.

Not that while this is a mandatory release, masternode owners will not have to restart their aliases. If you simply stop the daemon, replace the old binaries with the new, and start the daemon again - your node should remain ENABLED without any further intervention required.

It is no secret that 01coin offers one of the more affordable masternode ownership opportunities in crypto. This has led to the proliferation of a very strong masternode network that now includes over 1,500 active and enabled nodes (not to mention those in various states of inactivity). Currently, each masternode requires access to port 10000 on a unique IPv4 address. The purpose of this debate is to discuss whether or not the 01coin wallet should be changed to allow masternodes to access port 10000 on a unique IPv6 address as well.

The last https://01VPS.net (https://01VPS.net) server migration was successfully completed today, as our Canadian server has been upgraded. New VPS packages on the upgraded Canadian server will start to be made available in the next day or two. Any IT professional will tell you that server migration day is nobody's idea of a good time. I'd like to give Evydder a warm round of applause for pulling off FIVE server migrations over the past three weeks - France, Poland, Germany, England and now Canada. That's truly yeoman's work!

Implementing this method of governance depended on the most recent Dash development cycle, which resulted in Dash 0.13 "Evolution" which came out about two months ago. We must first merge the 01coin code with the new version of Dash (0.13.2) before we can begin work on the governance architecture. This process, unfortunately, is admittedly taking longer than anticipated, first because Dash delayed the release of 0.13 by more than two full years and now due to scheduling conflicts within 01coin's volunteer dev team. Our lead dev, OwenRay, recently indicated that he will have time to begin working on the merge in April, though.

I will say, one thing I've found is important to keep in mind with community coins is that community members are all just volunteers who usually have jobs and studies in their day-to-day lives that take priority. So sometimes things might not progress as quickly as we might like. The flip side of that, though, is everyone's welcome to contribute, if they see an area in which they can help speed things up.

As for examples of vote ideas, these could be anything related to marketing or development. Our hope for the coin is to modernize and secure it as much as possible with the latest and best code available in order to provide a strong foundation upon which the community builds it.

As for the donation address - that is a temporary warehouse for revenue generated by 01VPS.net. The donation address is a multi-signature address, so I knew diverting funds to it would mean they could not be tampered with (even by me) until which time a suitable corporate entity was created for 01VPS.net that could take ownership of the funds. So most of those funds will go towards paying 01VPS.net's debts and expenses once it has an established entity to claim them. In truth, only about 5052 ZOC from that address are actual donations.

In our opinion, the Dash governance system is broken and needs to be fixed. Fortunately for you and everyone else, you are free to choose whether to agree or disagree with that. If you think Dash is perfectly fine as is, there are ample opportunities to buy Dash and other coins like it. If you think it can be improved upon in terms of the functionality of its governance, then 01coin provides an alternative option. We are not asking you to buy any ZOC - merely providing an alternative to the many Dash clones that already exist. Of course, you are also free to believe that our development process is unreasonably long. I might encourage you to take a wait-and-see approach with 01coin, but it's entirely up to you whether you'd like to buy some ZOC or not.

We are not on CMC yet because we have not reapplied since last year when we weren't listed on any CMC-supported exchanges. We still have a placeholder website online at 01coin.io and would like to have our full website (draft version here: https://github.com/zocteam/website (https://github.com/zocteam/website)) launched prior to reapplying. Speaking personally, I am confident our next application will be successful, especially since we are now on three CMC-supported exchanges, each with active ZOC/BTC trade volume. OwenRay - our lead dev - says the full website will be online sometime in April, so it shouldn't be long.

The currently-available VPS packages on https://01VPS.net (https://01VPS.net) will be grandfathered at the end of the month, which means they will no longer be available for purchase as of June 1, 2019. They will be replaced by a new set of plans. Be forewarned, though, the new plans will offer less RAM but more disk space. This reallocation of server resources is necessary in order to ensure the 01VPS.net service remains capable of at least paying for itself, if not profitable.

On the plus side, the price of our most affordable IPv4-enabled package will in fact come down. In addition, users will now also have the option to add additional IPv4 addresses to any VPS package for €1.00 per address - which is by far the lowest rate in the industry.

Hi mrquackquack - it will probably be at least another week or two. We need to push out a new wallet release and make sure a strong majority of the network has switched over to the new wallet before we can re-enable the exchange wallets. The new wallet should be ready in a few days, but it's anyone's guess how long the network adoption process will take. Of course, we'll do our best to announce the mandatory update to everyone and hopefully help speed the process along as best we can.

Can you provide more information on IPV6 nodes. They don't appear to work very well.

Are you referring to ZOC nodes using IPv6 addresses? Yeah, it's a bit of a tricky situation and I'm afraid I don't have clear advice to give you. I can tell you what's happening with IPv6 nodes, though. As you've probably noticed, they have limited connectivity relative to their IPv4 brothers because most of the network is IPv4, and most IPv6 nodes are single-stack and therefore don't talk to the IPv4 side. In the past, this is what was causing our chainsplits, hence the need to introduce self-healing chain rules in v0.12.3.7. From a masternode perspective, this can lead to the network being more likely to label IPv6 nodes as "unhealthy" (due to having more consensus disagreements) and thus they earn reduced rewards compared to healthy nodes. That's actually being done on purpose to preserve the health of the masternode network.

So what's the takeaway here? That I don't really know. The easy answer is use IPv4. But I know that's not always feasible. cmelx says that if you use 'externalip=' instead of 'bind=' in your conf, though, then an IPv6 node should still be able to communicate with other IPv4 nodes provided your VPS has an IPv4 address as well. I can't personally vouch for that because I haven't tested that scenario myself.

Sadly, everything "sort of runs" but doesn't when 'bind=' is removed... will masternode something else for a while, rolling back to a prior version would obviously be counter productive for the network. Have you resolved the long waits in block movements? The latest wallet is very good compared to the last wallet. If Cmelx wasn't so sensitive, i'd give him a compliment.

But yeah - I usually use "bind" in my nodes too. I haven't tried not using it yet. Hopefully, with time, the IPv6 part of our MN layer will mature and keep abreast the IPv4 part. But right now, with it being so small compared to the IPv4 side, it's a bit of a risk to run IPv6 ZOC nodes.

Please excuse my rudeness but just an idea. Now i don't know how you run your business model but what if you change over your services of accepting ZOC to only fiat ie dollar pound etc etc.. and implement a buying of your currency thru the profits and proceeds made by your business establishment. Lets say you get 500 new subscribers you use the proceeds to buy back 300 worth of coins and the other 200 on whatever else like server costs, salaries etc etc.. This will maintain a foundation that offers a buy back of its own currency will still giving it the options of fiat.

They're probably already doing something like that so who knows. It's just kinda sad too see a coin with an actual real life use case get beat up so bad.. 

There are a few reasons why we prefer to not accept fiat, not the least of which are legal and tax-related. But we are looking into branching out and offering other crypto payment gateways in 2020. We still haven't quite got the new datacentre humming along as efficiently as we'd like, so that's what our focus is on now. Once the datacentre issues are fully resolved to our satisfaction, though, we'll start working on the additional gateways.

I know I'm talking around your suggestion and what you'd really prefer is to be able to pay for VPS rentals with fiat. The door's not permanently closed to that, but I'll be honest - it's not something we'll be in a position to really look at in earnest any time soon.

Well i have a couple of ideas, one is maybe find a partnership with a quote unquote bigger fish such as ionos google so on and so forth. You would be surprised how many people are interested in blockchain technology and digital currency. Plus you'll never know until you try. Or two create some sort of tech or add on that nobody in your given sector i.e. cloud based services has yet. One idea that seemed fairly interesting was a cloud data marketplace. Anyways just some food for thought. Also not trying to come off as a jerk. I just think that this thing can have some potential if implemented correctly. Anyways Happy New Years and we are waiting to hear Big Things from ZOC in 2020.

Just a reminder that 01coin's next reward reduction is scheduled for approximately 5000 blocks from now, in about nine days or so. Rewards will be reduced by 8.33% to about 21.85 ZOC per block, split 50/50 between miners and masternodes.

The 01coin blockchain has eclipsed block 420768, triggering our second 8.3% annual block reward reduction. A full block reward is now 21.84722223 ZOC, with 10.92361111/2 going to each the blockfinder and the masternode network. Our next block reward reduction will take place at block 631152 approximately one year from now.

How does the vps work for masternode hosting and how many masternodes can I host on each tier?

It's a bit of a tricky question, as it depends on which coin(s) you are planning on hosting. Different wallets have different memory and IP requirements. But a decent rule of thumb is one node per 256MB of RAM. Some need more; others not as much - that's just an average, if that helps.

edit - As for the one-click recipe system, it remains under maintenance. So if there are particular nodes you'd like installed, you can send in a support ticket request to 01VPS, on one of our staff members will complete your remote node MN setup manually within 48 hours.

Another tricky question. The 1-click system needs a complete re-write from the ground up since we have fully modernized our server infrastructure, so alas it has been a bit backburnered in favour of other project priorities like the upcoming iterative Dash merges that are needed to facilitate the governance system we have planned. As many of you may already know, the 01coin blockchain can sometimes stall for extended periods due to the influence of auto-switching multipools wrecking havoc on our difficulty retargeting algorithm (which is DGW3, by the way). Eventually, the zocteam will have to implement an alternative to DGW3 to permanently address this challenge. In the meantime, one method for mitigating the impact of multipools is to increase 01coin's exposure among the mining community writ large to encourage more direct-coin mining for ZOC. They've already been re-enabled for some time now.

FYI, both the Graviex and Crex24 wallets are out of sync. We are working with them now to resolve the issue. Any new news or development on this project?

Not yet. Still working on the next release. We've already come up against way more challenges and bugs than we anticipated in terms of getting the new sporks to fire correctly on the testnet, so I can't really offer a timeline on that either. One minor development is we are working with another team of devs to have ZOC included on an upcoming mobile wallet that will allow people to buy and sell ZOC with their bank accounts - but it will only be licensed for African users.

Well thats a big plus, do you know the timeline of getting that worked out?

Once we finish helping the other dev team with the ZOC integration, the rest will be in their hands to roll it out, so unfortunately no - it's beyond our control (which is probably a good thing).

It's actually quite a bit harder than it sounds. We've looked into it in the past in terms of integrating other available multi-currency payment processors, but because our platform passes the price in ZOC rather than dollars or Euros, other payment processors just shrug and break. So we need to completely overhaul our own payment processor in order to do it. It's definitely something that we're interested in proceeding with, though, and I do hope we'll be able to start actually working on it soon.

Do you mean in terms of the automatic masternode setups? If so, that system is currently offline as we update it to be compatible with the new virtualization software. If there's something in particular you need assistance with, you can always send in a support ticket and one of the 01VPS.net team members can help you out.

Do you guys still offer Masternode hosting solutions and if so when will it be back online?

We never offered masternode hosting, per se. Just a system to simplify the setup process for folks to host their own masternodes. As to when that system will be back online, I'm not quite certain at this point. I would guesstimate in 3-4 weeks-ish? We're in the testing/debugging phase of development - and there's never really anyway to know how long that will take.

Oh ok, is there any news on the developments taking place on the project?

Not really. All the C++ developers in the community seem to be away for the summer. That leaves a couple of us to work on the 01VPS.net scripts, but that's about it for now.

In collaboration with the amazing folks at Graviex (https://graviex.net/markets/zocbtc (https://graviex.net/markets/zocbtc)), we have concluded our investigation into the issue wherein it appeared as though the sell side of the ZOC orderbook listed 293M ZOC for sale when, in fact, there are only 15.6M ZOC in circulation at this moment. It turns out this was merely a display issue caused by orders being placed during a scheduled server reboot. Graviex assures us these trades could not have been executed even if attempted since it was only a display issue. The issue has now been resolved, and trading has resumed on Graviex. As a precautionary measure, we will keep deposits and withdrawals disabled on both Crex24 (https://crex24.com/exchange/ZOC-BTC (https://crex24.com/exchange/ZOC-BTC)) and Graviex for a bit to continue monitoring the markets for any further issues.

FYI, 01VPS.net (https://01VPS.net) users, our datacentre provider is re-attempting the network code upgrade tomorrow that failed so epically in August. Again, no customer impact is expected - but we all know what happened last time. We will be keeping a close eye on progress and will let you know if anything problematic arises. We were working on a new blockchain explorer for the ZOC Community yesterday when we noticed this little thing. 1010101 01coin transactions! Seems appropriate.

At 13:20 UTC today, the ZOC blockchain reached 841,536 blocks triggering its "annual" 8.33% block reward reduction. Block rewards are now 18.35773535 ZOC, divided evenly between miners and masternode operators (i.e., 9.178867675 each, rounded to the nearest zuff). This is our first block reward reduction since July 2021; the three-month offset is caused by autoswitching multipools that manipulate blockchains to only mine them at periods of low difficulty then abandon them during periods of high difficulty, resulting in long stretches between blocks. The next block reward reduction will occur at block 1,051,920, and assuming nothing changes with regard to multipool manipulation, everyone can expect that to occur roughly in January 2024.
